Fantastic trip to the statue and Ellis Island. Thoroughly recommended.
Fantastic trip to the statue and Ellis Island. Thoroughly recommended.
It's nice but there's nothing but a gift shop and a restaurant. I like how they explain the history behind the statue but I believe it isn't worth it to go there, unless you are only looking for a great selfie this isn't there right place for you. But I truly recommend the Ellis Island, it's really beautiful and interesting.
i never went there but it's still cool. you can use google to see it, why do u need to waste all your money to see it when u can use google?
I came here with my family and she was a marvel to look at. It felt kind of surreal coming here. The only downside is, in order to go inside the statue you have to book it a day in advance. The park ranger told us sometimes it could take months. I do plan on coming back.
Great experience and a full filled day out with a boat ride included. Many photos to take and yoy can go into the museum aswell if desired . A must for sure.
This is the most amazing place. The history and the business relationship between the US and France via President Ulysses Grant, Pulitzer (owner of New York World newspaper), and Eiffel (he of that other tower) is amazing.
What can I tell you that you wouldn't already know? The iconic statue representing America, donated by the French, cast in bronze but now in its known patina-green. Audio tours are included in your ticket price, and, of course, you end at the gift shop.
If you visit New York you must visit Liberty Island. It's a great experience. You learn a lot of the history of our great nation. Make sure to buy your tickets early so you can go to the top of Liberty as entry is limited. Always make sure to buy your tickets from National Park and not from street vendors.
Beautiful structure, I spent a good afternoon to spend there. The downside is that tickets to go inside are limited and tickets to go all the way to the crown are even more limited. So if you are going with kids and want to get all the way to the top make sure you buy tickets at least 3-4 months in advance.
What an incredible sight. Very popular and very crowded but an enjoyable experience for everyone. The kids scavenger hunt is a nice service the NPS offers.
To stand where countless others only dreamed of going, yet never made it was humbling. A sign of freedom and new beginnings, the Statue of Liberty shines through even the darkest of clouds. If possible, climb to the top! Stunning views.
One of those must visits in NY, it was great but somehow still fell a little short of my expectations
It was awesome the Ellis Island museum and Statue of Liberty and it's museum too.
A MUST visit when in New york. Take the ferry to liberty island. There's an audio tour included with the tickets which tells the history of the place as you walk around the island. Loved the whole tour and the way it was organized. The statue of liberty is itself magnificent to look at along with the breathtaking views of Manhattan. The ferry stops at Ellis island as well. We skipped it but if you have time at hand, you could get down there as well.
I have been there and it is SO cool! i highly recommend you to go there.
I went there with a group of friends. We enjoyed this trip a lot. The cruise ride was great experience and one of recommended things to do. Overall it was a nice place with a huge gift shop and lots of food was also available.
It was beautiful to learn about the history of Lady Liberty and how important it was (and is) to our country, to our relations with other countries and to the immigrants coming into the US. The views of New Jersey and Manhattan are amazing as well and the park staff are quite nice. The security personell on the docks can be a bit rigid though and they always seem to be barking out orders. But I suppose that's to keep the order and maintain the punctuality of the ships coming in and out of the area.
Statue of Liberty is a must visit in the United States. It s a great monument and feels wonderful to visit. Pedestal area on the statue provides great views of Manhattan. It will usually be very hot compared to what it is on land. There are trees on either side of statue to relax. Carry water and snacks. There will be airport style security at the entrance. It takes at least 3 hours to complete the visit with 15 min walk up to pedestal. Ferry to and from land takes about half hour.
I visited this monument during my training at a law firm, it was during the month of December and the weather was extremely cold, I had a wonderful experience visiting this place. A boat will carry tourist to this island and there will be a security check before boarding the boat. The only drawback in my opinion was the poor cleanliness at this facility, which surprised me. There are some good food eating options at this place and also a place to buy souvenirs.
Beautiful, and a must visit if you've never been. Expect airport type security, and very limited crown access. The wait for the boat was about 1 hour in direct sun, with the line running the length of the island. If allowed to line up closer to the water or providing a covering to guests this would have been 5 stars.
Food and drinks available if needed, and easy access to amazing view points. Some information available, with a new museum set to open in 2019.
Great overall experience.
One of America's most famed locations, it is amazing!
Lady Liberty is truly larger than life. This was my third visit out to the Statute of Liberty and my first during the colder months. I always visit from the NYC side but a ferry is available from the New Jersey side as well. If you have no interest other than going to the island you can usually get last minute tickets. However, tickets to the pedestal and for those more adventurous, her crown, require reservations in advance. Prior to ferry boarding you go through security which has heightened since 911 and appears more stringent than airports. You just don't have to remove your shoes. As you near Lady Liberty you can see the excitement build as many go on deck to get pictures of her beauty. There is always work going on at the island. It's easily walkable the entire way around and provides magnificent views. You enter the crown and pedestal through a side door of a small gift, but prepared to put almost all of your belongings in a footlocker. There is also a larger gift shop, cafe with healthy food options, the Liberty Bike. Audio tour available. Definitely more crowded in the summer and actually a nice place to picnic with available outdoor seating. Leave early enough so you have time to visit Ellis Island which is included in the cost of your ticket.
It was awesome being able to see what my ancestors went through to become an American. An Inspirational feeling running through the halls. The Statue of Liberty is smaller than expected but still holds a gravity I don't have the language to convey. Definitely a location to visit at least once.
Worth the visit! was highly crowded even on a rare weekend! Lot of touristy things happen around here. And you can randomly spot weird posers like me in the crowd!! Easily takes 2 hours excluding the Ellis island tour!!
Has a cool museum inside and looks great from the outside too
The Statue of Liberty was nice, but it was way smaller than how they make it look on TV. The boat ride over was nice, but crowded. It's best to go early in the morning before the lines get extremely long. They also have a cafe with okay food. Overall, it was a good experience.
Order your tickets ahead of time. Limit what you bring with you as you'll have to go through a security check if you're going inside. There's a cafeteria inside the souvenir shop so come early and spend the day.
Informative! Definitely try to go inside the monument itself though!
Love this place. Plenty of museums included. Wonderful views and amazing to see the detail on the statue up close.
The symbol of our nation. Amazing experience. If you want to go up in the crown - book six months in advance AT LEAST. It's booked out until June the last I checked. Also, prepare to CLIMB. Lots and lots and lots of steps. People in front of you get tired and walk slow. Bring water, prepare to spend some time.
1st time visiting The Statue of Liberty and I loved it. On the way over we had nice sunshine and one the way back stormy rain. The contrast was great. Before the boat ride it took about 45 minutes to get our prepaid tickets exchanged for a hard copy they make you use.
The climb up the Statue was enjoyable but if you don t like tight spaces I don t recommend going to the highest point in the crown... which cost extra. I loved it, a tight spiral staircase we enjoyed the top alone for about 5 minutes. It s 20 stories high at 260 feet to the crown. The view is really limited in the crown compared to the main look out area. Very fun experience!
me and my wife were in new york on holiday in February 2019 and the statue of liberty was at the top of our list of things to visit. seen this on films & television and photos but to see this in person we could not put our feelings into words. we got off the boat and there she was and we were really looking at her
she is so beautiful
we just sat down and there we were taking our own photos of this lovely lady
SO COOL! She's so iconic so it was truly amazing to be right there to see her. We paid extra to go up the pedestal and it was neat! You can't see her better but your view of Manhattan, etc is better. You also get to see up inside the statute.
Truly humbling to think what this beacon meant to our ancestors. To finally see here after weeks on a boat. A view that meant freedom was near!
The best views are from the boats that specifically go out to view the monument. We used circle line as well as the water taxi from the New York pass. Both gave amazing views.
It is simply breathtaking!
The price to take the ferry it's decent they have different tickets meaning different cost. We got the regular one that it includes the Ellis Island and your way back to Battery park. They have also audible tours in different languages. Also something that I personally enjoyed it's a photoboth where they make you feel like you can be part of the Statue of Liberty. They have also have a good place and clean restrooms. The regular ticket would not be valid to enter the statue of Liberty.
Historic place,a must see if you are planning to visit NewYork.you can only admire the courage the people who built it to get this massive structure erected there, constructing it in France ad bringing it to USA and working tirelessly to set it there.
A superb place... the boat ride to the island gave us the view of newyork skyline as well.. the statue itself is so beautiful.. having seen it in so many movies, finally seeing it in life was an awesome experience.. the island was also well maintained... worth a visit.
Shelter for Cruise terminal is too Small, when rained, 80%people in Q are Have to enjoy rain forcibly.
The Signs are small and not vsible for boarding of Jersey n Newyork Cruises...
Even the Signs on Cruise confusing..
Loved it. There wasn t a better place to be on 4th of July.
Be prepared to have cash on you. You will be able to use credit card only in gift shops, the rest is everything about cash in NY.
Also when you buy ticket check if entrance inside the statue is included. Might need to buy an extra ticket if you want to get on it.
Amazing to be there, definitely get the crown tickets (months in advance) as that is a must do experience if you are able to climb the steps. The whole island is beautiful and well maintained.
Although I have looked at Lady Liberty from a distance many times, Finally I decided to hop on a ferry and spend some time at looking at lady liberty close up.
You can purchase tickets online and obviously they have different tour levels, purchasing online will save you a lot of time and purchasing the reserve ticket will also get you in the priority boarding queue. I purchased them right from my phone once I saw the line to purchase tickets.
The line waiting for an empty ferry is actually quite long on a daily basis, they do have more than one ferry transporting back and forth which makes the line move a little faster. There is only so much room on the ferry and on a hot day, the wait can be miserable in the sun so be sure to squeeze into the crowd when boarding the boat to ensure you're part of the cut off, having to wait for the next ferry.
The ferry ride is relaxing and on a hot day can help to cool you off. Looking at lady upon approach to the island liberty closeup is something quite spectacular and considering the difficulty they faced in getting the foundation of the statute initially built, its even more amazing closeup.
The tour will also take you to Ellis Island which is well worth the time and extremely informational. The old hospital on the island is also really cool to see and they do have a tour which would allow you to see parts of the old hospital which I at some point will have to do. I thoroughly enjoy spending time on Ellis island not just for the history lesson and opportunity to get a close up of the awesome architecture but also just sit back and look across the water at the magnificent skyline.
This is a good relaxing way to spend the afternoon.
Cheers!
A international monument to liberty and justice. Its an absolute must, who goes to NYC and doesn't see it? It literally has its own emoji = !
Great place to visit if your in the area. We went a few days after new years and it was very busy - we had to wait nearly 2 hours for a ferry.
It was an amazing place. My very first time. I enjoyed it too the fullest. Museum is a must.
What can I say? It's one of your best experiences in life to visit the Statue of Liberty.
Took the ferry from Battery Park to Staten Island. You dont really get the awe and beauty and the smell of freedom until you are at the footsteps of the statue.
We went inside to look at the architectural framework holding up this magnificent work of art that means so many things to so many people. We also visited the museum that had a lot of interesting historical information.
I had been to NY twice before but didn't have a chance to visit her, but this time I did and so happy that I did and everyone should too.
wonderful! Everyone needs to go at least once. The new museum is included with the ferry fee. The view is so Awesome!
Great experience. Brought ferry tickets for 18 dollars a person. With the ticket, got to see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis island. Audio tour included. I would encourage you to go early in the day.
Visiting Liberty Island is one of the most rewarding experiences of any trip to New York City. who wish to enter the museum, pedestal, or crown must secure reservations. For over a decade, the National Park Service has implemented a reservation system. This is very different from the way past generations once accessed the Statue of Liberty. The National Park Service strongly recommends making advanced ticket reservations
This is one of the best place to visit while you are in NYC. There is a ferry ride from both nj liberty state park and ny battery park. The ferry takes you around and drops you on the back side of the statue so that you get a complete 360 experience. The tickets for pedestal and ground us the same price so be careful while booking. If you need to go to the crown you need to purchase tickets at least month in advance. But there is no elevator to the crown. There is only steps. They have a new museum which is very nice and full of information. Also attached is a balcony which is a nice place to spend an hour and get some pictures.
Truly breathtaking... The views and the experience! I would highly recommend reserving tickets to go all the way to the crown (must be reserved far in advance online). The climb to the top of the pedestal was exhausting, but the views were beautiful. Surprisingly, the climb from the pedestal to the crown was actually less strenuous! The spiral staircase was interesting going up and a bit eerie coming down. I'd definitely go again!
Wow! Go on this! Easy to get off and on and amazing views. So worth it.
A must see spot in New York City. You can go to the Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty up close or you can take the Staten Island Ferry for FREE to see the statue from the distance. Or you could try both as they are both worth your time.
Lady Liberty is like no other iconic place on the planet! If in NY, you CANNOT miss her!
If you are not going by the ferry it s not worth it to go all the way here to see the Statue of Liberty. Because it s very far. Maybe from New Jersey side it s closer.
Beware of many expensive ferry providers. Check prices before you go.
Not bad and was a fun day and trip for the price but not going to lie from all the hype in movies and from a distance i kinda exspexted more donno why just did being such a simbol and all but still a fun adventure all and all
Your help is absolutely necessary. I wish you good health at all times.
Statue of Liberty
If you go to New York City please make sure you won' miss this one visiting the Statue of Liberty up close and go straight the stairs up as many as 354 steps and see the view of the city of Manhattan directly from the window on the Crown of Lady Liberty.
I went there from the Central Park by the subway train to the most end station named South Ferry station. For sure you have to change the train 2 or 3 times to go there. Go out from the station to Battery Park to board a ferry to Liberty Island where the statue stands. This is the only departure point in Manhattan.
Then when you arrive at the island you can join the queuing line to climb up stairs to the crown, when you are on the top of the crown it's very suggested to move fast and take turn with other people behind you to see to the window.
There's a souvenir shop and refreshment counter down there .
The statue was smaller than I thought. The boat ride over was nice. You have the option if you want to go to the museum or not. We choose not to and just stayed on the boat all the way to the statue. It was okay. If you want to go up on the statue I suggest booking in advance.
Never went there but it looks good in picture. Anything which is for free is good. Thanks France for the gift.
DO NOT BUY TICKETS FROM ANYONE ON THE STREET!!!! Go to the actual ticket center and get your tickets so you don t have any problems. For $18.75 you get to see Ellis island and the statue island (ground area). You take a ferry it s will take you around both islands and you ll have the opportunity to get off on either of both islands and you ll ferry back. It s a really beautiful experience if your in New York plan it into your trip.
This is one incredible monument that no one should miss. It starts tall and beautiful.
Great views of the City and close up look at the Statue of Liberty. Nice cafe and decent gift shop and the museum is fascinating. Wrap up warm if you visit in the winter as it gets very cold.
It's a great experience to visit statue of liberty. Definitely a top priority item in bucket list whenever visiting NYC.
We took a ferry over to the Statue of Liberty, and it was absolutely breathtaking besides the bitter cold. Breathtaking. First time for our family. Loved it.
Great time at statue of liberty. We took the ferry from new Jersey to the island (I highly recommend this as it is less crowded than the NY side). We got tickets with the pedestal access, which was a great view of the surrounding area. Also, I highly recommend trying the lemonade!
Visiting New York for the first time I had to go see the iconic landmark. I would never forget the experience I had when visiting. It s a must to do if your ever in New York. Reasonable price too and you get to have a mini ferry trip to the island where the Statue of Liberty is based. Part of your ticket you get to go the museum where people used to come before entering the United States. Overall had an amazing experience.
I went wth my class in 3d grade and it was so fun!!
Nice to see up close but better if you can go inside the base. Tickets to go in sell out fast.
Been here about 8 or so times. Iconic statue in the middle of the New York Harbor with a gift shop nearby. In the gift shop, the items were good quality for their price!
Friendly staff, good gift shop. A must visit. I d really recommend getting tickets for the crown, but it is stairs to get there so warning if you re tall because you ll have to duck! Friendly staff at the top.
located on liberty island, the museum contains detailed information on the design process of the statue and the many iterations of the statue before the final design was agreed upon. the museum breaks down why the statue has various elements in its design and why. theres also a lot of information on the construction of the statue along with details on its reveal event. as well as the small museum, there are food carts, the actual statue that you can walk inside if you have paid the extra $25 per person, and some great views of new york from the island. great place to visit for a lovely afternoon.
Fantastic opportunity to see the Statue of Liberty close up. Great views of the New York skyline via the ferry. This is a day trip. Difficult to get to by your own car in NY traffic. I highly recommend a taxi to get you to the Battery Park area. Don't by tickets on the street. Go directly to the ticketing area and purchase tickets from a ticket booth.
You'll need reservations to enter the monument. Still worth the visit to be able to walk around the base and admire the gift from France and the engineer accomplishment and labor that went into it's construction. Museum is a definite must see to truly appreciate.
The Statue of Liberty was really incredible to see. With your ticket it also includes Ellis island and guide. If you have limited time you can get to the Statue of Liberty and back in around 2 hours. In my opinion $23 US is definitely worth just seeing the The Statue of Liberty, but if you have the time definitely do Ellis Island which you'd need to allow 4 to 6 hours for both depending on how busy it is. Also included is one amazing view of the NYC skyline.
This place was simply beautiful and amazing. This was my first time to NY...brought my wife for a special birthday surprise and we caught this place along our trip. She's been to NY before, so she also kina knew her way around. I've always wanted to see the statue up close and it was definitely worth it. Learning about the statue, it's origin, the details, seeing and being inside, was just awesome!! I will say this...if you plan on going to the pedestal or crown, BUY YOUR TICKETS AHEAD OF TIME!!!! I didn't realize they limited the # so much and they sell out quick. When we go back, I'll be getting crown tickets a couple months in advance...thats how far out they were when we were here. My wife just happened to find last minute pedestal tickets, so at least we got to go in for that...even that made the trip worth it! Definitely a must see and do when you're here! Can't wait to come back.
Going here was an adventure. They had these tablets they you can use to listen to when going though the statue of liberty as well as the surrounding areas for extra info. They come in different languages so anybody that needs it can use it regardless of language.
Better to do a boat tour and see the statue from the water than to visit the island by foot.
Iconic monument. You hav to take a ferry to get there.
Did you know that this statue was made to be in Egypt If you are interested in .. Google it
Breathtaking views of the city all around the island. Soak up the history. The tour was well worth listening to.
Always busy, but the park and landmark are gorgeous. Plan for the entire day to be swallowed up by the statue AND Ellis Island, if you are intending to do both.
It's a shame that our visit was tarnished by the unprofessional so called security people. Shouldn't we do better for the #1 lady in the USA. They were rude and very unprofessional, and we need good people there. I won't be back, and won't suggest any one go.
Great place with historic significance. ... heart warming...
If you visit NYC for the first time, don t miss this historical place. Great to let young people know the Spirit of why this statue was donated to USA from France.
Really nice experience, we got tickets to the crown and we had a really nice time! Wonderful views once there!
The Lady lIberty is what symbolizes New York and Lower Manhattan, In Roman numerals it says July IV MDCCLXXVI which is the day the USA established it's Independence and as a gift the French gave us the Lady Liberty. Truly a remarkable monument
Iconic, get the tour if possible together with Ellis Island.. rich information
