Yes, it's super touristy. Yes, a lot of them are rude and will stand in front of you blocking your view on the ferry ride over. It's still worth the trip! The museum on the island is well curated and very interactive and informative. The roof also has amazing views of NJ, Brooklyn, Staten Island, Manhattan and you can even see Queens in the distance. Food and souvenirs are relatively reasonable.

Nice place to visit!! It may take an entire day to complete travel and enjoy this place with family and friends !!! It is important to understand the timing of tickets and ferry to and from the station to the island and the Statue of Liberty. Those who are interested in learning more about the history, the museum on the island is the best place to learn. Subsequently, another ferry ride will be needed to the Statue of Liberty from the island. This place has gift shops and food court along with many nice spots to take family pictures. For visiting to the actual monument, you need to put all your baggage into the locker box. I would definitely recommend this place as must visit but please have sometime at least 4 to 5 hours to fully enjoy this experience.

Changes ur perspective to the world.. got to learn so much about the history of this great place .
Loved the views of NYC Manhattan jersey city and Brooklyn
The price is totally worth going there..
Bit expensive food at the restaurant but i guess thats how the tourist spots have become now..
Ferry takes about 20 mins to get there and then the audio tour which is available for free is great to have along side

Very clean and well kept property. It was under construction in November 2018 which got in the way a little bit. It wasn't overly crowded and the gift shop was nice too. Beautiful views of the city and Lady Liberty. She is a lot bigger in person. There is a place to have a quick bite to eat if you don't mind the crowdedness of the food area.

A must visit when in New York. We took the Statue Cruises which gets you right to the island. Excellent ferry! Very nice. Worth every penny. The statue is absolutely beautiful. If you do get pedestal tickets I advise to take the elevator. We took the stairs and we are in decent shape but it made us exhausted the rest of the day. The views from the pedestal are beautiful. Highly recommend! Also GO EARLY! It gets packed really fast. We took the first ferry.

You can t come to New York without making Lady Liberty s acquaintance, great place to visit with fantastic views of Manhattan island and a very interesting museum with how the statue was made one for the itinerary hit list.
We used our New York pass to get here which was absolutely painless and enjoyed a sunny crisp cruise over to the island.

Impressive experience, especially in light of our inability to have a rational conversation about immigration. The Park Service has done an excellent job providing walking tours and audio history for the Statue. It's hard to imagine how our ideals inspired this incredible gift to our country.

Great experience! The boat ride was awesome, just make sure you get there as early as you can for the tour to get a seat upstairs - limited seating. As you near the Statue of Liberty, you will marvel in her beauty and greatness. There Manhattan skyline is beautiful and there is no shortage of pictures to take.
Future Tip: Left line/side goes to New Jersey and right line/side goes to NYC.

Worth a visit just for the history and symbolism of freedom alone. The grounds are well kept and makes for a nice group outing. Personally I think the climb is worth it but it's definitely not for everyone given the amount of stairs and tight spaces

By 1800, the island actually became a defensive fortification in New York Harbor. The 11-point star-shaped structure that is now part of the base of the Statue of Liberty was actually built as a fort. It was completed in 1811, just in time for the war of 1812. Even when Bedloe s Island became home to the Statue of Liberty in 1886, the name didn t change. It wasn t until 1956 that the site of the statue officially became Liberty Island.

Although I have looked at Lady Liberty from a distance many times, Finally I decided to hop on a ferry and spend some time at looking at lady liberty close up.
You can purchase tickets online and obviously they have different tour levels, purchasing online will save you a lot of time and purchasing the reserve ticket will also get you in the priority boarding queue. I purchased them right from my phone once I saw the line to purchase tickets.
The line waiting for an empty ferry is actually quite long on a daily basis, they do have more than one ferry transporting back and forth which makes the line move a little faster. There is only so much room on the ferry and on a hot day, the wait can be miserable in the sun so be sure to squeeze into the crowd when boarding the boat to ensure you're part of the cut off, having to wait for the next ferry.
The ferry ride is relaxing and on a hot day can help to cool you off. Looking at lady upon approach to the island liberty closeup is something quite spectacular and considering the difficulty they faced in getting the foundation of the statute initially built, its even more amazing closeup.
The tour will also take you to Ellis Island which is well worth the time and extremely informational. The old hospital on the island is also really cool to see and they do have a tour which would allow you to see parts of the old hospital which I at some point will have to do. I thoroughly enjoy spending time on Ellis island not just for the history lesson and opportunity to get a close up of the awesome architecture but also just sit back and look across the water at the magnificent skyline.
This is a good relaxing way to spend the afternoon.
Cheers!

Done this as it was included in our NY Pass, but glad we did actually go to the island as most folk had advised to just get the free ferry that passes it.
Good photo opportunities and stunning views of the NY skyline around the lower end of NY. Island is very clean and well maintained. Gift shop was busy but well stock and reasonable prices.

other than taking photos, grab the audio tour kit and follow along. you'll learn the history about the statue herself. remember to get there before 1pm so you can visit both Statue of Liberty and Ellis island! we left statue of liberty at 4pm, the ferry went directly back to Battery Park and missed the chance to visit Ellis island. will have to come back next time!

Historical, clean, well documented, great resources to find ancestors and knowledgeable staff to assist if you have questions. Guest shops with nice things- not just junkie stuff. Fun ride on boat to and from the Statue of Liberty Island. One of my favorite places ever!

Worth a watch, informative and educational trip. we must appreciate the work and the vision of Bartholdi which created a consensus among people from different parts of the world. I really like the concept of liberty wall which makes you to express your opinion instantly and displayed right away on the wall.

A must visit to anyone traveling to New Jersey or New York is an understatement.. this is a well known fact.. three things to see or do:
1 Ferry ride to the statue island
2. Ferry ride to the historical museum islands.
3. Visit to the upper section of the statue.. needs to be pre-booked three to six months in advance.
Also a good spot for half a day picnic with kids..

Awesome place, all the people that work here are amazing. From the elevator guy to all those on the ferry minus the one girl behind the snack bar who obviously didn't want to work but other than that definitely worth the buy. If you can buy tickets to go up to the pedestal or crown, only 500 available yearly!

Lines for tickets are very long, I recommend purchasing tickets online ahead of time to secure your ticket. The crown tickets are hard to get unless you purchase a minimum of 6 months or more in advance and the time if year you plan to go. They are limited on pedestal tickets as well but not as much as the crown, would recommend purchasing pedestal tickets a couple weeks in advance to secure your spot. There are grounds tickets that are more available than the other 2 but they do run out eventually with them as well, you could purchase these the day of if you wanted. You take a ferry to the island, show up with plenty of time ahead of your time to be there as lines are very long. Purchasing tickets ahead of time will allow you to bypass the ticket lines and if you purchase pedestal or crown tickets you bypass the regular line. Security is fairly quick but it will be cramped with people worse than an airport, it can also be quite warm depending on weather and they corral everyone like cattle. The ferry ride is nice and even with so many people, it still has lots of room to move around. Once you get to the island, you are free to roam it on your own time. If you purchase pedestal or crown tickets, they come with an audio tour that you can get from nearby staff. Also if going in the pedestal or crown, you must go through a second set of security and they do not allow large bags, backpacks, or purses. There are lockers to rent before getting to them. The audio tour is full of information about the statue and island and the view from the pedestal is amazing. I would've got the crown tickets had they been available and will highly recommend as I will do myself if I get a chance to go back. Overall a great experience and would recommend to anyone that hasn't gone before. I mean, it is the symbol of our freedom after all! :)

Very nice experience, with family you can easily spend entire day here. Please make sure you will book tickets online so you can get pedestal access for sure, for crown you need to book a ticket in advance 1-2 months. There are 2 entrances one from NJ (you will find plenty of paid parking here), other entrance is from NY side. if you don't have a car then I will suggest to take a path train and get down at exchange place then you will have to take NJ light rail to avoid walking 2 miles.

Visit the most famous place in the U.S, and take photos there or on ferry before arriving there, you can take ferry from Jersey or Manhattan, try to book some days before especially before holidays. I f you get hungry do not worry just next to the statue there is a market that you can grab food and beverage.

First rule of going to the Statue of Liberty- get your tickets months in advance. Second rule - go full on and get the ticket that goes to the crown. Any other ticket isn t worth it
The Statue itself is awe inspiring.
Don t skip Ellis Island though. Could have spent hours there!
Multiple exhibits on the immigration process when the island was active and an exhibit that shows the modern day immigration issues

Finally got to see the statue of liberty! Get here early. I didnt and wasnt able to get inside the statue which I really wanted to. But the experience was super cool. If you do get to go inside make sure you pay the extra 3 dollars to go all the way to the top!! Also ignore all the annoying people outside trying to sell boat tours. Get it from national park service. They have a booth inside battery park.

Tickets are almost same if you go to island/pedestal.
The ferry goes from battery park ( NYC) and liberty state park (from jersey city) and you can interchange at the island.
boat halts at Ellis Island (entering point of slaves into the USA in 1700-1800s) and there you can see the museum how slaves were treated, how they have come to the USA and all.
at liberty island, you can get your certificate of 'when you visited here'. When you go to the pedestal, you must check museum. here they have beautifully explained how statues come to the USA in pieces, how it is constructed, it's specifications. And everything... that is worth a watch...
fun fact-
During the restoration completed in 1986, the new torch was carefully covered with thin sheets of 24k gold.

Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, especially for my mom who uses a walker. It was our first time there and we brought my mom who is in her 60s, so we could knock it off the bucket list before we all get too much older. They told us to skip the lines. They allowed her to sit on a bench then put her on board at the head of the line. It was a very wonderful and breathtaking experience, however, very crowded and still a lot of walking but definitely worth the trip!

A must-see for every American, this is was a beautiful and touching experience. Make sure to pick up the audio tour, it's free and part of the experience! The museum was beautiful, but we only got to see a portion of it since it was under construction. most of the exhibits were taken down to move to the new museum. The new museum should be even better!

Would not be able to tell you what's better to visit: The Crown or the Pedestal but I can tell you - it's worth it! You get to go inside of the statue and that's the magic of it all.
Astonishing to see the inside of it and appreciate the history and genuine master engineering skills. Consider how difficult it must have been then to built something so vast.
(The difference between visitor The Crown visitors go up another hundred something steps).
DO NOT skip the guide tour - so much great info is on those guides - totally worth it!

Must visit place, you might feel like it is ok to just see it from the ferry or from a distance. But trust me when you get on this island and walk closer to the monument you will be speechless. And the while island is nice to spend some quality time for couple of hours. Decent food and restroom options around the island.

Tickets from New Jersey are more easily available than Manhattan. Buy tickets only from statue of liberty cruise website. The museum on both Ellis and liberty island are great. Take the phones which gives you audio guide for the tour. It gets chilly in the evening. The movie in liberty Island museum is great. The empty sky 9/11 monument toward jersey city exit is a place people easily miss going.

Being inside the crown is so worth the 4 month reservation wait!! What marvelous architecture. Be sure to get to the crown as early as you can to avoid the crowds, especially since the screening time on your ticket doesn't matter. We reserved for 12, but got in at 10 and so glad we did. If you're not going to the crown, take the stairs, not the elevator. It's a leisurely few-minute climb and yet 90% of able pedestal goers chose the elevator. Even if you have a fear of heights, I'd say you MUST make climbing to the crown a part of your NYC experience

By far my absolute favorite visit while in NY. She is a beauty for sure and I will admit that I have zero historical information in my head and even less interested in collecting any but this tour was fascinating. The package included the boat ride, self guided tour, the lower level of the statue ) we paid for crown level), access to the museum and Ellis Island. We did not use the self guided tour as there was a 10 min mini movie in the museum that told you everything (which made me cry). The best part was being in the crown. Please be advised it is just under 200 stairs up and then back down and no elevators. I consider myself in moderately good shape and my legs were in pain for about 3 days afterwards. The crown area swayed with the wind and it was extremely hot up there but worth all the pain. I highly recommend! Enjoy!

Icon of liberty and freedom in the world and a symbol of US is NOT to miss if u are in New York or around...normally the tours take you around on the Hudson BUT a visit to island makes it memorable, NOT all ferries take there though....It is just Statue of Liberty Cruises company which has rights to visit and takes you there....tickets may be bought at their pier in New York....near Korean War memorial...The tickets also include audio device to explain the exhibits, it is available in several languages,......the entry ticket gives access to the Liberty island, Ellis island and u may visit the area around the statue, the exhibits, gift shop and travel through the ferry back. However if u are inclined too visit INSIDE the monument u need to have another ticket....Once you are there u become part of history of US and the world as well.....Seems eternal to be present there....

The place is so historical, and clean. I recommend everyone going there at least once in their lifetime, but the food is very expensive, and I'm not sure where the restroom is. It is a bit scary when everyone leaves for the boat, and you are still roaming around. You have to leave before sunset
