I think the Sofitel Denarau plays on its location to pretend to be a five star hotel. The service was generally poor, usually slow and often confused. Fiji time is all very well but charging five star prices requires five star service. The one hour wait for our dinner on the first night in a largely empty restaurant was typical of our experience.
The first room I had (364) was tired, suffered from smoke from adjacent rooms and the shower over the bath was dangerous. The second room I had was better but the mold on the shower was not a good look.
