We decided to sign up with Smith Thompson per the recommendation of one of my family members. I made an appointment with them that had a 4 hour window and fortunately they came out right on time (at the beginning of the time window). The Smith Thompson employees who came over were friendly and efficient. I feel that their monthly rates are affordable and competitive. There is no contract required. So far so good.

We've had Smith Thompson Security for the past 5 years at our previous home and we just had them come out and set up service at our new home. We've been very pleased with their service. One of most inexpensive companies I've seen for security monitoring, which includes cellular monitoring, at only $16.95 a month (no contract), and every time our alarm has gone off they have called within less than a minute. I highly recommend them.

Our Smith Thompson technician, Jeremy Dunn, was extremely helpful and got us set up quickly and easily. He explained all the features of the system, and we feel very good about our investment with Smith Thompson.

I've been through several different alarm providers and none of them can compare to the service I've had with Smith Thompson. Moved to a new house a little under a year ago and decided to try out Smith Thompson as my new security provider and I'm not disappointed. I've had techs come out twice for separate requests and both times they were on time, experienced and professional, and very friendly. Their dispatch team calls pretty much immediately after testing my alarm, so I feel very confident that the system is working properly on my end as well as their end. The rates are also very reasonable and fair in the market. I've also had their pest control team and it's been great. I haven't had bugs of any sort since using the service and having a reduced rate by being a customer is a nice perk. Highly recommend these guys as your security provider. Thank you Smith Thompson!

Unfortunately, I prepaid with this company and thought the experience would be a great one. How difficult can it possibly be to call a phone when an alarm goes off? Well, it must be rather difficult. There have been several instances when this company (Smith Thompson Security) did not even call my phone to see if everything was okay. On one occasion they actually sent the police to my house.

Combine this with the fact they are very argumentative and extremely rude when contacted by phone, and I suppose you can imagine that I will not renew with them.

I chose Smith Thompson home security after a referral from a family friend (she has had them for over 20 years). I looked into around 10 different security providers and they had the best reviews with by far the best rate. The technician was able to hook up the system with the existing keypad and wiring in my townhouse that was built in the early 2000s. He was quick and efficient in the install and explained everything to me very thoroughly. I have had it for about 3 months now and it has been working great.

I ve used Smith Thompson for my home security and pest control services for several years. The price for home security can t be beat, and their service is awesome! I ve accident set off my home alarm, and they ve called IMMEDIATELY to make sure I m ok.
As far as the pest control, I m extremely pleased with my quarterly service and the technician who comes out. I haven t seen any bugs in my house since they ve been servicing it.

My experience with Smith Thompson the past few years has been very pleasant. Their prices are reasonable, and the couple of times I ve had an issues with my service, a tech was sent out promptly. It s also a nice feeling, when there are only a matter of seconds between your alarm sounding, and receiving a call from dispatch to make sure everything is okay.

I called Smith Thompson because I heard an advertisement and liked the price structure with no contract required. They came out and upgraded my keypads and re-connected all of my window and door sensors. They could not connect the fire alarms because they said that my house is not up to code with the number of fire alarms. So I purchased some standalone fire alarms for all of the necessary places and then they came back at no additional costs and connected my two hard wired alarms. I feel so secure knowing that they are monitoring my home for break-ins and fire 24 hours a day.

Who would not choose this company for their home security????? I wanted to switch to them a year ago, but when the technician came to the house he looked out for me. He waited to start the install until I called my current company at the time to find out how many months I had left on my contract. If he hadn t had done that, I would have ended up having to pay $750+ just to break that contract. I swore to him when the contract was up I would switch, and he made a note about it in my notes for them. So, 11 months later I was able to cancel the previous one with no extra out of pocket and move seamlessly into my relationship with Smith Thompson. What other company would look out for their customers that way? When they re not even officially customer yet?

It was a several year old system with a few changes from previous owners over the years, and it took some investigating and ingenuity to get it in working order. Sean was meticulous and thorough and managed to find all the stray, weirdly placed components. We are first time security system owners, low tech old folks, and he patiently went over the instructions and answered all questions. I am very happy with his visit . I am new to Smith Thompson (3 months). As a former Police Officer there is only three basic things that I look for in an Alarm Company. Equipment/Functional works/response time to call after alarm activation(this is most important too me - how fast can back up get here- we have set off our alarm 3 times (oops!) I was amazed as I have received the (everything ok) call every time in less than one minute (that's crazy fast)/ Third is price and these guys have the most competitive I have seen/ half of what my ADT was and they call me faster.... I was happy before them but the savings now makes me jump for joy. Best off all you get a free month just for giving an honest review... I tell all my clients about them because I truly believe they are the best value for security in the DFW. Plus its a family owned business and what Texan doesn't like small business. No contract, guarantee they cost less than who you have, and when it counts how fast do they call and get help. Police average response was 15 minutes when I worked patrol.... So alarm company response time is Key!

The representative provided detail information about the security system and he was very professional. He did a great installation.

Installer was professional, courteous, friendly, patient, and helpful. He made sure that we had the app info and basic knowledge of how to use the mobile features, walked me through the basic security features, plus some options to customize my user experience.

Call on a Saturday evening to reset keypad passcode and the customer rep shows me how to do it on the keypad but messes up and leave us without home security over the weekend. They tell us to call back Monday at 8am for technical support.

Also, Smith Thompson cannot disarm the alarm over the phone when our contractors enter our house. This is when we disarm the alarm on the App already. We told them to disregard the alarm over the phone but the alarm keeps on going off and call us back again. We have no choice but to give our passcode to the contractors. Considering switching just in case we are out of town and this happens.

Our experience has always been positive. We continue to refer Smith Thompson without question and our referrals have always been happy! It's a rare thing nowadays to have a company you can count on without question. Smith Thompson is that company

The best home security experience I have ever had. They are polite and stay out of the way unless you need them-- and when you need them they're timely and professional. Their installers and knowledgeable and efficient. The price is right and doesn't require a long, painful contract. What else do you need? I thought so much of the company I also use them for pest control with similar results.

We were able to get our schedules together and the service tech came out and had everything hooked up and ready to go in I would say less than an hour. We already had the system installed when the house was built but we never had it monitored so he said it was a breeze for him to do. Very impressed with the professionalism and also the time he took to explain how everything worked. We have not had any issues with intruders but I feel protected in case we ever do.

I had my new upgraded Smith Thompson Home Security installed and the guy installing was great but also the customer service the day I called to set it up. I originally called another alarm company who would not tell me the breakdown of what I was going to be charged $1600 for and I would be locked in to paying for 5 years. I called Smith Thompson and for the same equipment I am saving over $1000 and my monthly service fee is $60 cheaper. I have used Smith Thompson before so I know that cheaper does not mean cheap service or equipment. Smith Thompson's customer services is prompt and friendly. My installer Mike Aman is very knowledgeable, friendly and he wore a mask for our safety and his. I am a very satisfied customer.

I moved over to Smith Thompson several years ago. Every time my alarm has gone off, they have called me.....even when I had trouble with the alarm system at ~midnight on a Saturday, I called their support line and they helped resolve the issue. I have their wireless option which is the BEST to have - irregardless of the company you use. I refused to pay ADT's cost of over 40 bucks a month and moved over to "Smith T". Do you lose some of the COOL stuff that is out there for a customer - Yes - i.e. online monitoring, etc......WHO CARES.....All I care about is the safety of my family when someone decides to break into my house - niceties are worthless to me....House alarm, my doggies and my firearm - nothing more is needed ;)

Smith Thompson is the best (by far) of the 5 alarm companies I have used. Their rates are unbeatable, staff is professional and accommodating, and they are always ready to help. We recently had to upgrade from 3G to 5g technology and the tech called ahead of time and the task was completed FAST. You cannot go wrong with ST!

Great service to be honest!
Had a guy name Ray who came over to check our alarm system and did a good work. But then it slip my mind I forgot to get him to check the garage door sensor because it wasn't working properly.

Felt bad because he left an hour ago and had another client to attend so I had to call Thompson to send him back to our house. Once he arrived, he took care of the issue with no additional charge despite the slip.

Just had our Smith Thompson Security System upgraded to WiFi Connect. Bruce did a great job for us, and explained how to now use with simple Phone App. We've been happy with our system and their service for 4 years now, and so upgrading to make it even easier to manage from our phones or web.

I am so thankful that I came and read some Google reviews, as well as walked around my own neighborhood, to observe how widely used Smith-Thompson is, here in Dallas. They really don t advertise enough, because if they did, I m sure they d put ADT out of business. No contracts, no pushy sales pitches. I think they were likely behind the times for a bit with regard to smart home offerings, but now that they re integrated with Alarm.com, it s fairly seamless.

We called to make an installation appointment: there was no payment taken until the installer showed up and finished the installation. You re able to pay for BOTH installation AND 1 year up front- or pay monthly: your choice. There s a slight discount if you pay up front. It s monitored, and while it does connect to WiFi, it s still backed up with cellular if the power goes out. $30/month. SO much cheaper than ADT. Better than Simplisafe since you have a cellular backup.

My only remarks thus far is, with what little we ve tested the video doorbell (Skybell), the audio/microphone leaves something to be desired. It s very staticky/hard to hear when the person on the inside is talking/the person at the door has a hard time hearing. I m just assuming that s more of an equipment problem than a service.

They were excellent. Showed up within the time frame for installation, quickly installed new keypads, showed us how use the keypads and saved us a ton of money by offering wireless (using an existing system, we got a discount on the keypads, coupon used for wireless unit and saving over 60% from our previous monthly alarm fees). We are finally free of the shackles of a landline and this created a domino effect of savings in many other areas. Can't thank them enough.

I recently decided to purchase a security system and after researching and hearing various ads I decided to go with Smith Thompson. I could not believe they have had the same price for over 30 years. When Jason L (tech) came to install the system he was able to use the existing system that I have. He did a very good job and was very professional. I am very pleased with them.
