They will turn on you in a heartbeat! 40 years in the repair and parts business and I have never seen a company act this way. Denial is the first reaction . Then blaming the customer. I have been doing business with Rock Auto for 2+ years now. They have a wide range of parts for each vehicle I've worked on, extremely reasonable prices, typically 30-50% cheaper than the big name stores. Shipping is prompt and reasonably priced. Rock Auto is The place to go.

I've never had an issue ordering from RockAuto, everything has been good. The one time I have to return a part, I follow their exact instructions and they scam me out of $250 saying they wont return it. Paid an extra $20 in shipping to get it back. No wonder you always see local ads selling parts someone got from RockAuto, its because despite not listing it, everything is final sale or they will just keep your money. Still great for ordering, but if you ever need to return just sell the part locally.

So first I ordered the wrong part then shipped it back for store credit, got another wrong part, my fault again. the customer service was excellent and helpful above and beyond. The prices even with shipping were better than my local parts store. I will definitely be using RockAuto alot, instead of driving ten minutes to the local parts store.

Miserable customer service experience. The moment you have an issue with anything in your order, the resistance begins. Order on Amazon, order anywhere else - but not here. A horrid company with inconsiderate, rude, and just downright shady customer service. Not only that, but they rip you off on shipping charges because they drop ship and don't warehouse all the items they sell themselves. This company is doing business in the '80s and has no place in our current environment. RockAuto customer service is among the worst on the planet. SHOP ELSEWHERE.

I ve been ordering from rock auto for past month now trying to replace my front suspension. Upon installing I noticed I got two left upper control arms, okay my bad for not checking when I first got it, I let it slide and returned it and got a replacement in a timely manner. BUT! They sent me a box with the correct model number but inside was yet another left control arm.
This is very frustrating as I had to cancel appt for an alignment twice now. Not only that but I can t drive my vehicle! It s been four days and I m loosing money here. This is ridiculous and definitely doesn t help that it s about to be a weekend and they won t get back to me till Monday. Overall I was pleased at first, but now I m not so sure about this company.. very disappointing

I am sure RockAutro has a great selection of parts and I am sure they are cheap cheap . . . but when the moment comes something goes wrong with the product you bought from them they have a very clear company strategy of No Customer service. You can not call them at all and do an exchange and the web-site technology is so dated and it makes it as hard as possible to return something. The only time I was able to get ahold of someone is when I replied to a e-newsletter and that ended as quick as it started. I would be more than willing to pay a few bucks more for a part so a human could answer the phone and help me return the wrong part your web-site SAID was the right part for my vehicle. In fairness I did wait over 30 days to install the part but they sent me the wrong part and WHY RISK it? Why risk buying parts from a company that won't even do an exchange when Amazon or other local Auto Parts stores for a few extra bucks have a MUCH better return policy. Live and Learn. I hope this helps future buyers, BUYER BEWARE!

Update: I was able to contact Rock Auto and they admited sending a part that did not fit on my vehicle and I was able to return it minus a restocking and shipping fee. I am out about 30 dollars, but not as bad as I originally thought. They have a 30 day return policy.

Over the years, never had a problem until now. Had to file a PayPal claim. Spent thousands of dollars, missing two parts from last order. Customer service will not acknowledge that parts have not shipped out after a week and a half. Opened a case on their website which they closed out before resolution. Received a call back from a RockAuto rep who would not acknowledge the problem and insisted they would not do anything about the situation. Despite being polite and brief with him he hung up on me. Had to file a claim on PayPal to get money back. Then, I received a call back from RockAuto who told me to close the PayPal dispute before they can correct anything, but the situation is still not acknowledged or resolved. That s not how it works. The issue is resolved first, then the PayPal claim is closed. No apology, no sincerity, no resolution. Beware.

I have used RockAuto for a number of years for my auto parts. My experience with RockAuto has been great. They provide quality parts. I have compared prices with local auto parts stores and their prices are higher even with RockAuto shiping cost. Recently I purchased a drive shaft for a 2005 Montego AWD and saved $141.00 over the repair shops cost for the same brand.

No matter what quality tier you select, you will get a quality part for your money. I have no reason to shop anywhere else, unless I happen to need a specific part they don't carry...which is rare for me.

When I checked with FedEx, They said that my parts were returned without even me knowing! so FedEx guy took it upon himself to return my parts without even notifying me. next thing Rock auto issues me a credit for about half what They charged me.
All this is happening by a computer. THEY HAVE NO PHONE NUMBER FOR A LIVE PERSON TO talk to! I am contacting my credit card company to get my money back. Yes they are cheaper but you are getting no customer service

Have been using for a few years and only had to return one item which was not an issue. Customer service was polite but not real helpful on details about parts. Good to have some knowledge about what you are buying prior to ordering. Overall good experience. 4.5 out of 5 I would say.

Words cannot describe how disappointed and mad I am with Rock Auto's customer service!!!! After already ordering parts, which their website said were all in stock, I get a call the next saying that "unfortunately one of the parts you ordered is no longer in stock, and we are sorry for the inconvience". I follow the instructions and change my order for a upgraded part, a whole $2.79 difference, then following the page down, I see that it is going to cost an additional $192.00 just for shipping. I call in and the customer representative tells me, I would have to pay for the additional shipping because some of my parts have already been shipped out causing a third location to have to ship the part. All because their website was not up to date! If the website had been correct I would have upgraded the part last night and only paid $10.00 more in shipping from this third location. But because they were wrong I have to pay an extra $192.00, I don't think so! I could understand paying that much for a part if the part was better quality, but RockAuto is cheap and cheaply made sheet metal and parts, and when I was originally buying this part for $90.00, and now being told I would be paying nearly $282.00 for the same part because of their error. That is beyond awful customer service!!!

We have ordered parts from Rocksuto several times now. I am always impressed with their low prices as well as their fast shipping. We ALWAYS get our orders delivered at least two days before the expected date. I like the handy feature on their site that helps you keep shipping costs low by telling you if an item will be shipping from the same location as something in your cart. Also, really like that the parts are catigorized by economy, daily driver snd heavy duty. On this last order, I threw on a bunch of light bulbs and oil filters to my order at no extra shipping cost, and at a fraction of the cost for those items in a store.

Parts are cheaper, but not necessarily of the same quality as other places. I strongly suspect they sell refurbished or returned parts because a number of the parts I've gotten have been defective. Plus they don't pay for return shipping EVEN WHEN IT'S THEIR MISTAKE. They claim, well it's a manufacturer defect so it's not their mistake and that's why customer has to cover return shipping. That's like me going to a grocery store, buying a box of cereal, opening it up and finding styrofoam peanuts inside. Then them saying, well that's Kellog's fault, not ours - sorry. It's BS. I bought defective struts from them, installed them and then 6 months later, found out they're defective. Now I have to pay for return shipping ($24 ) PLUS the labor to swap them out on my car ($100). So needless to say, I won't be shopping here anymore. Yes you save money on the part, but you run the risk of it costing you more after the fact. Also, this isn't the first time I've had to deal with this same issue when buying from them. Once again, the old adage rings true - you get what you pay for.

WOW - wish I had read all these negative posts before buying from RockAuto. Obviously they could care less about customer service. This was my first, and my last order from Rock Auto:

On 8/18/16 I placed order 50605101 on "Thursday, August 18, 2016 09:55 AM Central Time" and selected "Next Business Day Express", which stated order will be shipped 8/18/16 and delivered on 8/19/16. Order status page stated same thing. I bought from Rockauto based on this offer. Paid extra $$ for next day delivery as I only have the weekend to complete repairs and my family is down a vehicle without these parts. The evening of 8/18/16 the status page changed to show the order will be shipped the next day, Friday for delivery on Monday. I called RockAuto. They said sorry we'll "try" to get it to you Friday but if not it will be Monday and we'll refund you "something". If not Friday, then I asked for Sat delivery by 10am at RockAuto cost to ensure that RockAuto did not falter entirely in their commitments. The rep said "we cannot do that". In so other words I got "good luck and tough (*^&". The rep was not willing to do anything at all to ensure I got my order as promised by RockAuto.

The next morning, 8/19/16, I get email stating "Your order has shipped!" "You should receive by Monday, August 22, 2016".

Friday morning I called again. Rockauto customer service says they messed up but will only refund $9 of the $15.99 I paid for next day delivery which was CRITICAL for me. Now I have to tell friends who were to help with the install to not show up Sat. I have to return tools that I only had available for Sat. The customer server person would not refund me anything other than difference between ground and next day fees. Nothing. No offer for a future discount, nothing for the hardship their faulty shipping operations has imposed upon me. They did just the bare minimum. This is the difference between an average company and a great company.

This episode will cost RockAuto way more money than the $6.99 the company kept while missing a ship date. My procedure for when a company is that indifferent to failing a customer is to post the factual event on 17 product review sites that I have predetermined (and growing). Obviously the factual events are quite negative. These types of failures are a customer's window into how well or how poorly a company is run.

I tinker on old cars as a hobby and RockAuto seems to have parts I can't get locally. Prices are always good, and better than the competition. I have never been disappointed with the many purchases I have made. I like the ease of online shopping and shipping costs are always fair. If the part is in stock (which they always have been for me), it gets shipped out immediately and arrives in no time. I would recommend RockAuto to anyone who works on their own car, new or old.

I ordered $1500 of parts nearly a month ago and still haven't received a majority of it. The initial order took a couple of weeks to ship then got lost somewhere in shipping. I had to wait until the carrier finished their investigation before I could get replacement parts. Only to have the replacement parts lost in shipping. My 1966 Cadillac needed new drums. We did what any consumer would - we found the most competitive brand and attempted to install. They didn't fit. The competing vendor accepted the return without any cost to me other than time and sent a new set. That set didn't fit either. As a result, we found that AC Delco, GM's OEM brand, offered drums which were supposed to fit without any modifications. We purchased those through Rock Auto and received them last week. They don't fit. Rock Auto refuses to communicate with its customers by phone, so I attempted to return the product through their website. The website accepted the return, but assessed me shipping charges to return the product despite the fact that the product was falsely advertised to fit on my 1966 Cadillac when it does not. So far, I have an ever-increasing email chain demanding more info about fitment than my mechanic already says he provided. Each response is signed by a different individual. This entire experience has been nothing but a stressful waste of time. It looks like we'll have to compose an email chain involving numerous employees with only first names that could rival War & Peace in length just to return this product which doesn't perform as described.

I just resent my mechanic's info after someone at Rock Auto claimed they never got it regarding the drums' fitment and received an "automated response" informing me that my ticket is now closed.

When I tried to call the corporate office and hit 3 for the receptionist, I left a message on Friday which was ignored. I have called several times since then and no response. This looks shady at best. I have resent an email to their service@rockauto.com email. We'll see what happens next. This maybe something the Wisconsin attorney general needs to look into.

Update: I checked the status of my order, and now Rock Auto has chosen to not only deny me the shipping labels which I requested to return the defective brake drums, but they have "unauthorized" the previously authorized return and cancelled my ticket. I have filed a dispute with my credit card company and have all documentation to assert my valid dispute against Rock Auto. Thank God for Amex! I have also contacted Terry at AC Delco, who immediately stated they would NOT honor any warranty for the drums despite the fact that Rock Auto is their dealer. Apparently, they have different tiers of distributors, and Rock Auto is not among the preferred for honoring warranties. I've been promised that a manager from AC Delco's customer service would be contacting me. To be continued. . .

NEVER NEVER NEVER AGAIN ROCK AUTO! I"m sorry. I thought I was doing business with a small family-owned, local organization here in the Midwest. It may be all of that, but it's customer service is anything but. . .

Update: Josh at Rock Auto contacted me by phone and asked that we send dimensions and photos of the drums. He suggested that this could indeed be a larger issue than just fitment to my particular car. I told him that it most certainly was based on the research I've since done on this. Most owners of '66 Cadillacs nowadays seek drums from junkyards or from car owners who switched to disc brakes because the new drums do not fit properly. After Rock Auto got the photos, they said those drums match their description perfectly, so I may return them at my cost and would only receive the cost of the part - no shipping refunded. I'm sorry, but if Rock Auto claims it is not responsible for product they sell which does not properly fit a stock car, then the customer is even less responsible for poorly engineered product. I guess my Amex dispute will have to settle this as I will not subsidize AC Delco or Rock Auto for selling product which doesn't perform as advertised.

Very fast delivery good pricing and excellent service. I've only had one incident where I had to call rock auto and they handled my issue very quickly and it turned out it was the shipper not RockAuto that had caused the problem. We ordered AVS window vent shade and it was not compatible to our car due to a safety feature that will not close the window since the vent shade in channel was in the way. Rock auto refuse to accept the return so we ordered a different Vent shade that you can attach it on the outside. We received the part in poor quality. we notice poor workmanship by the company and some damages to the vent shade. There we stratches on the shade that looks like it happened at the factory.
