They do good work here. But, don't expect speedy service! An oil change takes an hour or more in wait time. I had an appointment for an oil change at 10:30am it's now 12:14pm and I am still waiting in the waiting room... Ain't nobody got time for this! It's completely unacceptable! When you have an appointment for an oil change it should be 30 minutes at most! Pretty disgusted at this point!

Bought my wife a car from here and we noticed the transmission was slipping. The salesman told us the vehicle comes with a warranty so if we decide to buy it, they will fix the issue at no charge. We bought the car, brought it to the service center and were told they couldn t find any codes for a bad transmission and nothing was wrong. I took a mechanic on a ride so they could witness the transmission slipping. The mechanic said we would have to replace the spark plugs and bring it back if it was still happening. I had the plugs and wires replaced and checked and the transmission was still slipping so I brought it back again and they said it was a recalled shifter cable. So we set up an appointment to have that replaced and that didn t fix it either. Since the car was my wife s daily driver, by the time we got it back to them for the fourth time they said the warranty expired and there wasn t anything they could do about it other than replace or repair it for full price.
I was in the market for a used truck from 2012 to 2016 and ,I contacted Robert Corbett at preferred gmc. He took the time to look and find what I was looking for and yes he found it 2013 super duty with low miles. If your looking for a great salesmans contact Robert Corbett he will take the time to help you.
Looking at all of the other reviews, makes me think that I got one of the less than helpful salesmen. I didn't feel like he thought I was serious about buying a car, but their loss. I went somewhere else.
A memorable car buying experience. Thurlow weed, Sales manager Tony and Dan Benham were honest and looked for the best deal to put me in a new car, thanks guys for all of your time and effort.
Kaleb is super helpful exploring what vehicle to purchase that best fits with my family! Super thankful for a car salesman such as yourself! Keep up the great work!
Awesome place, I've bought my truck here but now live in the Upper Peninsula, I drive 300 miles for service with Preferred because I trust them, it's a great place to deal with......
The people here are very friendly and helpful. Anytime we need anything done to the car or just a oil change ,we come here before going to the one in Muskegon.
I like Preferred in Grand Haven. I've bought several vehicles there and use their service dept. Service managers, Paul, James, Craig all are great but would not use Peter.
Matt Daniels was so very good to work with. Explained everything and very enthusatic to show us everything! Brad Holweda also was so very nice to work with.Took his time with us to make sure we understood everything. We didn't feel pressured in anyway which is a huge plus!
Steve was great sales rep. They treated us amazing and the SUV is best vehicle we found. After looking over 15 other SUVs and meany other dealers this has been the best! Also they did us right on the price. Can't say enough great things about Pererred Chevy.
Great Customer Service by the General Manager (John F), Service Manager (Brian H), Service Tech (Jim S) & Sales Associate (Cambell S). I was Very Impressed with Preferred on being Solution Driven and addressing concerns. Preferred Chevorlet showed that they are about Relationship Building and not just the Sale which took the "Car Sales Stigma" out of the equation. Highly Recommend this establishment! Well done team!
I have been going here for years! Service is great and amenities in the building are clean and comfortable. They have free coffee, popcorn, water, and work spaces.
Not one mask in sight for a single employee. Had good service but was greatly disappointed and disgusted by the lack of safety and concern for other people's health.
I bought a 2011 GMC Sierra Pickup. My sales rep. was Robert Corbett. I found him to be helpful and courteous. He met me outside the door, welcomed me in, and made me feel at home! I would highly recommend him to anyone thinking of purchasing a used vehicle from Preferred Chevrolet. -Gordon Groenevelt
Bought a truck about a month ago, I took it back in after a couple weeks for a small noise and a possible bad wheel bearing. My sales man Ryan called me, told me to come in and grab a loaner because the issue they found needed parts that were back ordered. Stopped in grabbed the car and was on my way. Mark (service rep) and Ryan kept me up to date the whole time, my truck is like brand new, absolutely love it! From the initial time Ryan showed me the first truck to the time I signed the papers, anything I wanted or needed was right there. Was not pushed into anything it was the absolute perfect deal. 5 stars to the preferred team all around!
Definitely not pleased with the product and service provided by Preferred. They do not stand behind their product.
I was sold a used car assuming that work had been done to ensure the car was in good condition. I found out later that the car had been in two accidents and my salesperson was not forthcoming about this info. I realize now that I should have asked for the Carfax on it, but I suppose it was a "freshman mistake." For the first 9 months we had to take it in multiple times for repairs...some of them pretty major repairs. We were definitely thankful we had purchased the service contract. But the final straw for us was the leaky trunk we discovered a few weeks ago.
After bringing the car home on the first day we bought it, I opened the trunk and discovered it was soaked inside. I pulled up the cover for the spare wheel and discovered standing water in there. I just assumed someone had accidentally left it open during a storm...so, I dried it all up and thought nothing of it. Then a few weeks ago, while driving, I started to notice a musty/moldy smell in the car. I decided to look in the spare tire compartment again, and I discovered more water. I later discovered that the leak was coming from what looked like bad previous repair job after one of the accidents it had been in. I reached out to my salesperson and asked if we could return the vehicle, because we were just sick of it. We were then offered to trade it in...something we were not willing to do since we didn't want to go back to Preferred for another purchase because we believed we could not trust them. I then posted a negative review on Facebook, and Preferred commented on my review asking me to reach out to get it resolved. So, I messaged them, and after receiving a promise that someone would call me or email me, a week went by with no contact. So, I reached out this morning, only to have them tell me that they would not pay for the repair, but would offer me their employee discount. I denied this offer because, again, this issue was there from day one and I believe it was something they should have resolved for me.
I will, however, say that I really liked our "service advocate." He was always nice and very patient with us...and often times through our service issues, you could tell that he wanted to do what was right for us, even when his superiors would/did not.
UPDATE: I reached out per your request in your response below and received word that someone would be calling me or emailing me, and I have heard nothing. This tells me that you guys just respond to these negative reviews in order to make yourselves look good without actually having to follow through and mend the relationship.
Salesman had no clue about the car. Didn't know it had a rain sensor windshield, or a chip in the key. Told us the guys used it to run errands it because it was such a smooth ride. We put less than 100 miles on it and it's been in and out of the shop since we owned it. Would not go back.
I recently purchased an Acadia from Thurlow Weed at Preferred in Grand Haven. My experience with him was excellent! Thurlow is the ideal salesman with his kind patience, genuinely caring way and going above and beyond to make the entire experience a pleasant one. His communication was superb and I would highly recommend him! Preferred in GH has great inventory, but was willing to reach out and find the perfect used car I was looking for at a great price and delivered to their lot in a few short days. I will be back for future servicing and for my next vehicle.
I've gone in twice now for my car to be fixed over the last 2-3 weeks. My engine light is on AGAIN! I'm very frustrated at this point and considering going elsewhere for service.
We have purchased two used vehicles from Preferred in the last two years, and both have been great for us. Our sales agent Ben was courteous, patient, showed us many options, just awesome (thank you). There has been a couple of times when we have had small normal issues (warranty and other) and each time they have been courteous and helpful. Both the 2008 Ford Escape and the 2014 Chevy Silverado have services performed through their service departments and so far are awesome as well. This winter the Ford had been in an accident and we had our repairs completed at Preferred, and with just a few "hiccups" that department was great to work with as well. Thank you Preferred, we appreciate what you do for us. I recommend this dealership highly. Ron K.
So this elderly gent asks me what happened to my hood. I had to laugh. As much as I love my new spark, other drivers prefer a much faster pace at the expense of my hood and it's paint job. So I applied plastidip to it. Car is going strong. The only request I have is more info. I had a tranny reprogram the other day and I would like to know what the new shift parameters are. Knowledge is power people!
On a more serious note everyone is social and knowledgeable and checkout is quick. New cars 1.5 hours to set up a loan, no big deal. If you want to know what's under the hood or what is new with your model year ask a technician, most sales reps do not know...
Special shout out to Jon Sphabmixay for getting me in and out and always satisfied!
This place is a joke! Never again will I bring a car there to be serviced! Customers beware. I would give them 0 stars if it was an option. If you really want your car fixed, take it someplace that will actually fix it. I called to have a recall fixed, my call went to a call center, it took 15 min to schedule the appointment, I was put on hold 2 different times, 1 of the times was so that she could call the service department to make sure they had the parts needed to complete the recall repair. The whole call didn't settle well with me after it took that long, that I called the manager back and ask him to confirm the information that I had given her to make sure it was all correct. I was told the repair would take 1 to 1-1/2 hours to complete. We dropped the car off at our appointment time and asked them to call when it was done and we would come back and pick it up. 2-1/2 hours later, they called and said it was ready for us to pick up but they didn't have the parts to do the repair so they would need to order them and we would need to bring the car back for the actual repair when the parts came in. Why was I put on hold for her to check and make sure the parts were there when I scheduled the appointment an was told they had them? Why did it take 2-1/2 hours for them to figure out that they didn't have the parts and to call me and tell me to pick up the car? Why did it take 15 min to make an appt in the first place? That should have been my first warning that this was going to be a disaster! Next time I will go with my first instinct. Even as I was leaving a gentleman stopped me in the parking lot and said he had heard my conversation inside and said that he having some of the same issues with that place. My car is now going to a real Chevy dealer that has their act together and that can actually do the necessary repair. Never again will one of my vehicles go to this place. Save yourself a lot of headaches and take your vehicle to a different dealership.
Good service and good vehicle selection. Financed at zero percent! Purchased from here twice since 2013 and have been very satisfied. Likewise, Peter our service professional, has been very helpful, knowledgeable and intuitive, and he is why I keep bringing my cars to be serviced here. Thank you team.
I went to Chevy to replace my Ford Edge, I wasn't quite sure what I was looking for; however Derrick Conkle made it an easy decision for me. He wasn't overly assertive and worked with me and the kept the payments within my budget. Derrick made the whole process a smooth transaction. Thanks again! I would definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for a car.
Campbell (Sales), Dave (Finance) and the rest of the staff at Preferred Chevy are awesome. Had a great experience getting into my first lease and they found the exact vehicle I wanted at the price I wanted too. Very easy going staff with not one ounce of pressure during the whole sale. Highly recommended and I will def go back again and also refer others to them. A+
Peter Robinson is the BEST! He was professional, knowledgeable, and very helpful. He made my service experience at Preferred as pleasant as possible. I would recommend The Preferred Auto Group to anyone the wants the best sales and service in the business.
Ben was cool at first with getting us a new car because ours was totalled in an accident but everything after us picking up the car has been stressful and overwhelming. The check engine light came on when we test drove it and he said it was nothing and had it cleared to which it came back on when we drove home. The radio did not work to which it was advertised working and they havent replaced it. A few days ago the car stalled on the way home from work and wouldn't start back up. Had to wait over 2 hours to wait for the tow truck to get there because he sent them to the wrong area and now the loaner car which we should've had this past week when our car was at the dealership because they were 'fixing it' aka ordered parts but were waiting for them to get in so the car was just sitting there. But the loaner car is so dirty inside and reeks of cigarette smoke and there are ashes all over the floor and seats. Once this is all over with definitely not going to them ever again or recommending them to anyone ever.
So glad I leased my car through them, I am so happy with it. Dan Benham always makes sure I get what I want and at a great deal. I get great service from Craig in the service department too.
I come to Preferred Buick from out-of-state because of the level of confidence i have that any repairs recommended are needed and will be done in the best possible way. It also doesn't hurt that your staff is so friendly and accommodating. I always feel safer on the road after Preferred has made repairs to my vehicle,,
Always a fine line between expressing care for the customer and their vehicle and selling additional services. Haven't had enough experience here yet to know which I am experiencing.
I like when someone leaves a poor reviews the owner said please contact us to see what we can do to resolve this but then nothing gets done all they do is give you the runaround do not buy a car from this place beware
I purchased a new vehicle from Thurlow Weed a couple months back and have to say it was the best experience I have ever had. From the start, he was patient and answered all my questions fully. The whole transaction was very pleasant. I would refer anyone to Thurlow and the Dealership. Great Dealership
I bought my daughter a used vehicle a week ago today. She is currently sitting on the side of the road because the vehicle is broke down. When I reached out to the sales person (Rob), his response was Unfortunately it s an as is vehicle take to a mechanic hopefully it s minor repair. While I understand it s a used car, I did expect it to last longer than 7 days. Very disappointed!!
I highly recommend staying away from this Chevy dealer. I bought a Chevy GMC Dinali a month ago. not even a week in from buying the truck all of a sudden had a bunch of issues with it. their service department is horrible. this Chevy is only about getting the money out of your pocket and selling cars. They are not about the customer. As that I am a business owner I know what customer satisfaction is. Just brought my truck in this morning they said they would give me a rental car but it s not even equal or more value than what I brought in to get fixed. As I said I m a business owner and I definitely need a truck for towing and I can t tow it with a four-cylinder. I am not a very negative person but this will make a person very negative. so I highly recommend to stay away from the Chevy dealer in grand Haven.
Submitted by Mary Hartman Matt Hartman's wife-- We have heard bad things about Preferred in Grand Haven. First I want to say we were not in the market to buy a vehicle (right now, I was looking for a second vehicle but nothing in stone) as we had a current lease from Betten in Muskegon (awful dealership we will never go back, hence why I tried Preferred) but sadly on Friday February 17th I was hit on my drivers side at the intersection of M-45 and 120th (awful intersection). Our car was totaled out yesterday February 22nd. I called up Robert Corbett whom I had spoke to before about the possibility of getting a second vehicle and I told him what happened. That is when the kindness and excellent customer service started. He told me to try and get a ride down and bring some important documents and he would see what they could do. I got all my stuff together and headed down there. It did take forever, they could have put me on payroll LOL. I know why it took so long so this isn't even an issue that I am going to mark them down on. Long story short, Robert and the financial guy pulled strings and did things that I have never seen dealerships do for some one who needed a vehicle. I got a heck of a deal. We pay less in our payment now. We have a better car than we did with Betten and we have amazing fuel economy with this car. We ended up driving away last night a 2014 Chevy Malibu. Very Very nice car. We both would now recommend going to Preferred in Grand Haven any day of the week!! Go down and talk to Robert Corbett. He was a down to earth guy made my husband my son and myself feel very welcome. We went from panic mode because we didn't have anything to driving a beautiful car!! Thank you Preferred!! Thank you Robert!! We will be back. You have a gained a life time customer as long as ya keep doing what you are doing!!!! If I could give it more stars I would. Thank you again!!!
Kaleb Fisher is the man to go to if you need to get you a new or used vehicle!! i 10/10 recommend him!! he will get you in the vehicle you want within your budget! :)
Not sure how all these 5 stars happened, that was definitely NOT my experience!
I bought a used Saturn from them, everything looked good, test-drive went fine. 15mins after closing the deal & driving off the lot, hit the freeway north to Muskegon, TPMS light came on! It was off for the entire test drive!! I came back to the dealer, service team was already gone for the day. Brought it back 3 days later, the vehicle actually had NO TPMS sensors installed on the rims/wheels. Not sure how they kept the TPMS light off during the test drive, maybe because I never went over 50mph? but I felt deceived! Either way, they did right, ordered the parts and installed them 6 days later, what a DISASTER! The fix should have been 2hrs, turned into all day + then some ... they could not remove the rims, since when they detailed the car (@ trade-in), and tossed the lug nut key, then after figuring that out, installing the sensors, they couldn't figure out how to program them ... I found this all out after I arrived to pick up the car at the end of the day. They never called me, I called them, they "said all set", I got there, none of the paperwork was ready, they couldn't even find my keys, but they say we are all set ... after bringing my car around, I get into to leave, the TPMS light is blinking!!! After 15mins of back and forth with the service guy and the techs, they tell me "they couldn't program the sensors because there is an aftermarket radio installed & the factory radio was the brains" ... completely FALSE. Upon inspection I find in the delayed paperwork, they even stated the tech could not program the sensors, so how was I "all set"? They say they tried all the usual methods , drive it around for X miles, etc I am not happy at this point and leave, with a promised phone call, which I have never received (hence this review). I leave the dealer go home, do a 60sec internet search on my phone, fine the procedure to train the TPMS sensors and complete it in ~10mins, SERIOUSLY! The procedure is a bit wanky, with holding key fob buttons and deflating/inflating each tire, but whatever, the car is GM product, I was at a GM dealer then on top of all this, I had asked for a brake pad remaining estimate while they had the rims off, they forgot, they also did NOT re-balance the rims after removing the tires and installing the TPMS sensors, they said they would (and should have) I was traveling via freeway and thought the steering was going to vibrate off the steering column! I had to go to Discount Tire and spend my own $64 to get the tires balanced.
I bought this used car as a short term commuter, and plan to buy a new car in the next 6mos to a year, Preferred will NOT be getting my money on that purchase!
The salesperson that helped me...Alexandria...did a great job. She made me feel comfortable and kept me updated throughout the process. I was there for about 5 hours the last visit (in March)...still not really sure what took so long...but the rear defrost cable was fixed which broke a couple weeks later. So I went back (in April) to get it fixed, again, and get an oil change...I was there for over 2 hours only for them to tell me they could not fix it and I would have to come back yet again...3 times for the same thing. Frustrating to say the least. The people helping me both times were very nice and made it tolerable.
Found the car we loved at a good price, and the process was very easy, relatively quick, and dealing with Robert Corbett was easy, no pressure and pleasant. Really enjoyed the overall experience and would highly recommend.
Searched for about 5 weeks for a new SUV. Made one last call , Kirk & Ryan took care of every detail for me. I am very happy with my choice but even happier with the AMAZING customer service provided. A great experience with Preferred Chevrolet Buick GMC !!!!! Thank you Kirk & Ryan
Dont use the service department! There was no customer service and the guy i had to deal with did not care about his customers, he made everything more difficult and was not friendly at all. My repairs were under an insurance claim, meaning the service department had to communicate to the insurance company. well that was minimal and took over 3 days just to talk to someone about my vehicle. Never go here!!!
I have never had a better car buying experience! Ryan Myers was helpful, efficient, and got me a great deal on a Buick Encore. The entire process was fantastic.
Can't believe they are still not wearing masks inside the dealership! What are they thinking? The guy's response when asked why was "it's hard to get customers to wear them"...but he wasn't wearing one either! Ridiculous! Considering never returning to this place. Not worth risking your life for an oil change.
Came in for 2 oil changes on both my malibus and paul was kind enough to give us a discount on both using 2 coupons at once. Will definetly come back to get oil changes during the winter again since i hate working on my cars in the cold.
Ryan Myers goes above and beyond everytime I come to him for my vehicle. He had it sent all the way to Pennsylvania this last time. Thank you so much!! If you're in need of a new or used car, go see Ryan!
I purchased a CPO 2013 GMC Terrain from Preferred a couple weeks ago now. Robert was great to work with. He and the rest of the team at Preferred were very knowledgeable and helpful during the entire process. Highly recommended.
Called Toyota of Grand Rapids to schedule an oil change for my Toyota Camry. Was told by the scheduler that Preferred Chevrolet (closer to home) could do my oil change and would have Toyota oil filters in stock, since they were part of the same family of dealerships. Per the suggestion of the scheduler, we sheduled the service at Preferred Chevrolet. When I arrived, the service advisor said they didn't stock non-GM parts and said their standard practice is to go to a parts store and purchase an after market filter. In my case they used a NAPA filter. Service was fine, but disappointed that the parts used were not what I was told would be used by the scheduling department.
Terrible service. They forgot to relearn my tire sensor system. Had to make a second appointment to get it fixed.Makes me wonder what else they forgot to do.
Went for an oil change/wipers/general check-up. Very quick service. My car was kept spotless, I had asked for tire rotation but they called and let me know I didn't need it. It was my first visit to Preferred Chevrolet and it was really the best car service experience I've ever had. Thank You!
Robert Corbett helped us for the 2nd time now getting a car, took the time at the end of a day with a normally stressful process and found us exactly what we wanted before we knew what we did. Will continue to recommend him!
Preffered is the number one place to go for sales with our areas best car dealer Robert Corbett and service center that cares about its customers and cars
In these responses from the dealership, the words I and me are used but they re all signed as the larger dealership. Who are you? You invite folks to contact you so please tell us.
