I've had several company fleet vehicles delivered from this dealer. The staff is generally friendly and efficient, but I think the fleet vehicles could be prepped a little better before delivery (film on interior glass, general interior cleaning). Overall a decent and pleasant experience.
I've also had my personal Ford vehicles serviced here many times, occasionally without an appointment, and usually am pretty satisfied with the results and quick turn around as promised. Upselling services is a common and expected part of the experience and often beneficial, but I haven't felt pressured unnecessarily when I've declined. Specifically, service advisor Carlos is very friendly and has done a good job of letting me know the status of repairs and usually delivers the completed repair when promised-a good thing for people with very busy schedules!

Don't trust Ford. I purchased a 2017 Ford Focus from Northstar Ford, and neglected to inform me that the vehicle has a history of issues. One major issue they did not mention is the "dual clutch" my vehicle has had two replaced already. I had a 2016 Focus that had 3 replacements, North Star Ford said the issue was resolved. This problem is in two other models also. Ford very soon will only be selling SUV's in the near future discontinuing all the passenger cars.

I am definitely not doing business with Norhtstar ford. Their pushy salesmen wheeled and dealed with me and were not going to let me leave that place without buying a car. They managed to get what seamed to be a great deal for me, so I was okay with the fact that they were persistant. They approved my credit and told me the monthly payment. I caught them right before close on Friday (by that I mean I came in about an hour before close and the process wasn't complete) so they asked me to come in Saturday "just to sign the paperwork and pick up the truck" but when I came back first thing Saturday morning I found out that they couldn't even fulfill the deal we agreed upon, in fact the payment was hundreds higher unless I got a co signer which they tried to push me into. I understand that maybe there were certain limitations with my credit score or lack of credit history, but to waste my time and tell me I'm approved and take hours of my time only to go back on your word is absolutely ridiculous.
Update... Despite my better judgment, northstar ford had the vehicle I was looking for. No other dealership had the used vehicle I was looking for so I went back and bought it. Precisely 1 hour later the truck wasnt running right. had to bring it back the next day to have the sparkplugs and wires replaced. seamed to be okay for awhile, since then (6 months total I have owned the truck) my backup camera stopped working, interior speakers cut in and out, blown driveshaft bearing, and now it is in the shop (not northstar) to get diagnosed for what seams to be a turbo failure (ecoboost). Extremely unhappy

My kid tried to buy a car from them and they 'sold' him a car for $8000. They could only take $2000 up front so they wanted him to return with more $$ the following day. In the meantime they would keep the vehicle until paid in full. (He did NOT apply for a loan) The next day my kid let them know he couldn't purchase it after all. They still have the car (it was never taken off the lot) and his $2000, trying to hide behind the guise of a 'binding contract'. No property was ever exchanged besides the money that they refuse to refund. We spoke to a finance person who assured us the money would be returned and paperwork cancelled....then the sales manager actually told my kid they "aren't Walmart" and you can't change your mind. This is a crooked dealership who just stole my kid's money. BEWARE

Best Ford dealer around!! NorthStar Ford is one of the best dealers you can find anywhere. I'd dare you to find another Ford dealer that pays as much attention to their customers. From Dave in Sales, Kevin in finance to the service team including Rob, Tom, and Carlos, to the team at quick lube including Mike, to customer service including Keith who is great at making sure every detail was covered. Of course Brian the owner orchestrates everything so incredibly well and it shows with the consistency I see as a customer and the service I get every time I walk in the door! I know there are a lot of other great people working in the background to ensure my vehicles are on the road running that I didn't mention! Oil changes are cheap but some staff have issues. On one occasion, a tech broke off part of my running board and just placed it inside the cab. When I asked the receptionist about it she wasn't very pleasant and said that "it was rusty." I knew it wasn't from rust that a plastic piece fell off, but she kept refusing to take responsibility. Another time I brought a different truck in for an oil change and the tech didn't put the oil drain plug all the way in when finished. If my dad wouldn't have noticed the oil spill on my garage floor when I left for work the next day my truck would have probably lost all it's oil by the time I got home. I called and told them about it and they just said "they will let the tech know." I like the 25 dollar oil changes but I don't like the shady I have had to deal with! Other than these two occasions I have had a positive experience.

I worked with Cory B and was without a doubt my best experience with a car salesman. I would highly recommend working with Cory and Northstar next time you're looking for a car! They sold me a 2001 dodge neon, claiming it was in great condition and exceeded the bluebook value of $2,000. Paid them $2500 cash for the car. Didn't even make it home before one of the doors broke and was stuck open, their fix for this was to tape it shut. The car was all over the road, leaked oil and coolant at an extremely large rate. Got home, went to look into the loud noise that it was making and was able to stick a screwdriver straight through the muffler, no effort whatsoever just went right through it. Checked the fluid levels, it was already half way down on oil (I only had a 5 mile ride home, had to assume it was half way down because it didn't read on the dipstick at all, and I had to add 3 quarts to get it back up to full...), and completely out of coolant. Which means they just filled it at the dealer and was hoping I wouldn't notice. Took it to Firestone, they said the car needed at least $3500 worth of work (but would of been more because the rear break and suspension parts would not come off due to excessive rust), and because of all the rust MIGHT of been worth $500 after all that mechanical work. They stuck 2 quarts of oil in my back seat at firestone, which they never told me about but was very nice of them because they never charged me for that oil, plus they filled the oil up aswell in their shop. Called north star to try and get my money back for the car, they laughed at me and simply told me they might be willing to do a $500 trade in for a different car on it, which is messed up when I had just paid them $2500 cash for it that same day. I traded it in at a different honest dealer (and got a great deal i might add) only got 100$ trade in for it. Took over a year to get the title because northstar ford wrote the wrong address on the title, so I had to apply for a new title and pay the fee along with that to finally get it so the dealer I traded it in to could simply scrap the car, which is what he really wanted from the start and he was stressing that the whole time. Went online afterward and put the report on ripoff websites, and got a call from northstar ford threatening to call the police and press charges against me for putting those reports online. Contacted the police force, found out that there is no such way that northstar could ever press charges, as I simply never did anything wrong. I gave the police my number to contact and my address, just in case, and I never heard back from them. Bottom line folks, this place is crooked. They should be avoided at ALL costs. They really should be completely shut down, to lighten the burden on this community. I'm telling you right now your better off walking everywhere rather than going into this place and getting ripped off. This may of happened 3 or so years ago, and I am still getting their emails about their used vehicles despite the many conversations I have had with their manager to take me off their list and never bother me again. Northstar, if your reading this, their is simply no used car deal you could EVER make that would fix this. I paid you $2500 CASH for this car and got 100$ trade in and was lucky to even get the 100$ trade in I might add! The only thing that would ever work towards getting those reports torn down, is well, you already know, getting me my money back! I have already told your manager this over the phone, several times over the past few years (while trying to get removed from your "email" list), so it completely ghosts me as to why I am still getting emails from your company about the used cars you have for sale. You should know by now, I am not and will never be interested in anything you now have or ever will have for sale.

Everywhere I went I was with my husband and he was always the one they paid attention to. I was about to give up until a friend of mine told me about this one sales person they had, and said he was good and would treat me like I was the one buying the car. You guys sold me a bunk car. The car has tons of electrical issues. The key gets stuck in the ignition, the dashboard flickers, car shuts off when driving, radio doesn't work, heat doesn't work, parking emergency brake flashes on and off, check engine flashes on and off. Battery isn't operating at full capacity. It's impossible to get the car in to get a new battery that is covered under your warranty. When I went to get the new battery, they didn't have it in stock (even though they knew we were coming and had ordered it week before). Tried to tell the tech there seems to be a common issue with the 2012 Captiva and an "incorrect battery current sensor on negative battery cable assembly" but he didn't even listen. Just said, we don't deal with recalls here. I will never buy from you guys again. Bunk car and terrible shop service.

We bought a 2010 Ford Fusion from North Star in January. They had the best price of anyone around. 6 months later it developed an unfortunate but common Throttle Body Assembly problem with that particular year of car. After some initial confusion from the Service Department and a big help from our sales rep. Larry Durene, they agreed to cover everything! Technically, this was no longer covered under the warranty, but they decided to help us because it had been only 6 months from the time we purchased the car. I figured Larry would have forgotten us and we would just have to pay for it all, but they really came through. I would recommend anyone looking for a Ford or used car to go to North Star-I certainly will.

Worst car buying experience I ever had. Bought the top notch warranty on a 2008 tundra. A week after having it we every light on the dash came on. Brought it in they told us they had to bring it to Virginia to be fixed. After not having our truck for 2 weeks (calling everyday trying to figure out when it would be back and being given the run around) I finally called Virginia and found out Northstar had told them it was their lot car and to fix every issue with it and no rush. They had no idea it was a customers car and they had it completely torn apart to fix. PLUS it was going to cost us over 1000 to fix when we just wanted to know the diagnoses before fixing anything. The guys in Virginia felt horrible and they had a meeting with the people at Northstar the following day. And our truck was returned, nothing got fixed but we decided we weren't going to be going back. Warranty or no warranty. Not worth it. The sales manager at northstar was incredible rude and should not have the job she had. We bought our next vehicle at Kia. Kia will be getting all my business from now on.

Northstar Ford will not be getting my 50k. I went in to drive and buy a vehicle that was on the their website. I told the salesman about the vehicle that I wanted to test drive and he asked if his manager could drive my trade-in. Of course I said yes. The salesman could not find the keys for the new vehicle, then he told me that it was not in stock, so he pulled up a different vehicle to test drive. The manager was driving my car while this was happening. When I test drove the alternate vehicle, I found the vehicle that I wanted to buy. It was in stock. We drove back to the office to get the keys and he left me in the parking lot to wait. After 5 minutes I got frustrated and walked out. When I drove away I noticed my check engine light was on and my OBD plug was broken. It appears the manager was tampering with my check engine light (to get a lower price on my trade-in ?) and he broke my OBD plug while doing it. It appears that Northstar Ford is not above dealer fraud. I was an easy sale. I was ready to buy, but Northstar Ford will not be getting my 50K because they act like predators.

I had a 2005 Ford Ranger, excellent condition I just received a check from the archdiocese for something I don't want to talk about because it's to personal. But any way, I had my truck and a check for13.000.00 plus. Your people showed me the oldest truck on the lot. I was trying to up grade and they wouldn't show me anything else. Then when I finally went ahead with a2006 f150 soon as I took it home as is, the alternator went out. The battery died. So when I brung :it back to get the work done they charged me the maximum for Both, and said if I get the parts from some where else they wouldn't do the work, so I was out of 600.00extra for the work. I left there feeling like I been done the same way the priest did. You tell me how I should fill.

In my past experience I have purchased a new 2008 vehicle here. I did so after a huge car crash which left me the money to do so. I was an easy sale. I knew exactly what I wanted and the sales person knew pretty much nothing. Later on I found out that he hadn't worked there long. When I went back later to trade up they offered me chump change for my trade-in. It blue booked higher. Needless to say I didn't buy the new car. I went to Krenzen two years later and they offered me $3,000 more for my trade-in than NStar Ford did 2 years prior. Even though I bought my car through Krenzen, I will always bring my car into service at NorthStar Ford. The service staff is friendly and personable.
I've had instances where my car was towed there and my dog and I chilled in their waiting room for the afternoon...another time I came in at the last minute to get something done and the staff came by constantly to make sure I knew of the progress.
I feel like this place is a lot of great people working under a corporation that no one likes.
I appreciate customer service quality which is why I give this place business..although after I get an oil change, the 2-3 times daily survey phone calls asking how your experience was makes me angry. It's a ND area code and they called constantly with no voicemail. I finally answered one day when they woke me up.....you're lucky NorthStar Ford that I still gave you a good answer even though those darn calls annoy me AND woke me up...

First let me say the person from the sales department that took my complaint did a great job and should be commended for handing my call very well. The service department on the other hand.... the opposite. I recently (Saturday) took my car in for a full check of my car prior to a 2,000 mile road trip. They looked it over and found some things wrong and gave me an estimate, including a leak in the transmission fluid which I would have assumed they checked, but i was wrong. I had the warning light come on in my car for check my transmission less than 24 hours after my "full inspection". Then when I opened the hood the first thing I see is a huge split in my window washer fluid line which was never mentioned in the inspection review and is impossible to miss if you open the hood. I called franticly to their service department because I know little about cars and at the time thought it could be a transmission fluid line and was both angered and worried that they had missed it and my car was now at risk of something severe. The mechanic C who I spoke too's response was that they check to make sure the wipers and washer fluid works and that is it, and that the department had actually closed at 4 and they could see me Monday morning..... Your kidding me right? You know I have a leak in transmission fluid but don't fill it, and completely miss a cracked window washer fluid line and your response to my concern over my car is well see you in the morning in 2 days.
I warn anyone against getting their "full inspection" for $100+ and encourage you to look at the other reviews on here about their service department, because if I had I never would have taken my car there.

I have had to go in a few times now with my van, and I have to say that the service I get from Carlos in Service is AMAZING. He's quick, he gets the answers, and he doesn't assume that I know nothing and try to pull the wool over my eyes in things that need to be done. He knows from the first time that he has helped me that my time is short, and that I cannot sit and wait without a vehicle, and he gets things done as soon as he can, and makes sure that my wait time is as comfortable as possible, and gives updates as he has them. Prices for my luxury van are cheaper here than at it's original dealership, and the work is still top rate. HIGHLY recommend.

ATTENTION SINGLE LADIES... beware of going into this dealership alone. They will take full advantage of you. I needed a car and was so afraid of getting ripped off. I bought a Ford Escape within hours of driving it home the battery light came on and I needed a new alternator. I called the dealership and they said, "well you bought it as is." Shameful!! Then because I had to shell out unexpected money for that, I was told they would hold onto my down payment of $800 for up to 45 days. I asked Keith if he could make sure they hold that. His response, "Sure no problem. Whatever you need" The next week that check went through my bank and didn't clear obviously so the bank tried again and I was charged 2 overdraft fees. Finally the check went through when I had to pay rent and my first car payment. I was short on BOTH!! WHAT A FRICKIN MESS they caused me simply by not doing what they promised. They simply ignored me as soon as they hung up the phone. I will never go back.

Don't bring your car here to get serviced. I brought my car in to have a simple sensor replaced, told them the issue. They said they could fix it no problem. Two hours later they've been "trying to get it to act up" and haven't fixed anything. Not only are they trying to charge us shop fees for doing nothing, they hung up on me. The rudest kid I've ever dealt with and completely unknowledgeable.

Keith did an amazing job, I was in and out within 2 hours with my new Ford explorer and I'm loving it! He called to check on me a few weeks later to make sure everything was going well! It appears that the review of my experience was read and apparently deemed significant enough to actually address with me directly as they could coordinate my name on the review with the paperwork and retrieve my phone number. Who does this? Apparently NortStar Ford and, after a little bit of a rocky start followed by a good conversation, it was clear to me that they take the manner in which their personnel represent NorthStar Ford very seriously in the hiring and subsequent training and ongoing development.
I appreciate that they took the time, were understanding of my perspective and offered an apology. An offer to refund the charge was appreciated but superfluous so we settled on something that would be more productive.
I rest assured that the events leading to my review will be addressed at NorthStar Ford and that there are those working there that care about the experience you have at NorthStar Ford. Again, kudos to them!

I'm sure they are a great bunch of guys and maybe this particilar young man doesn't understand or care about the potential he has to affect the customer's opinion of NorthStar Ford. Maybe business is good enough right now that losing customers wouldn't result in needs to reduce staff...maybe his job. But that can change as there are many options for getting an affordable oil change as well as qulaity service these days.
As a former Ford Motor Company employee and from three generations of Ford Motor Company Twin Cities Assembly Plant workers I choose to take my truck to a Ford dealership. I however will examine other options as I will not return to NorthStar Ford for service based on my experience on Monday.
Superior, WI has a dealership where maybe they haven't gone all "big city" and think that as the Service Counter Representative they are "all that" like the young man I encountered.

Absolute worst dealer ive ever been to. Bought a 2012 f150 xlt eco boost with 65k and it was right back to the dealer for bad rotors ,caliper and breaks. Had to pay to have it fixed they covered the parts. Month later right back in the dealer with the same problem. Now they say its the rear rotors asked for 480$ to fix the issues i decline . Very next day after being in the service dept i get warning lights saying service advance trak. No help from anyone at the dealership ans they want full price to fix all issues. I Do Not Reccomend this place.

I purchased a new Ford Edge in August of 2016 from NorthStar Ford. I had a bit of a rocky start with it, due to no fault of NorthStar Ford, and the staff worked hard to make everything right for me. All of the staff, from sales, customer service, (in both the Quick Lane and Service Center,) and Courtesy Car drivers have all been extremely friendly every time I've been there. Sometimes the waits are a little long but the job is done correctly, so that is what matters the most. Besides, they have tvs and fresh coffee in the waiting areas, so it isn't really all that bad. I've had great experiences with NorthStar Ford and I will continue to recommend them to others.

After the death of my husband I needed a vehicle that I knew would be dependable and stable for myself and my four children for a long time. I had driven a minivan prior and I wanted something that would seat at least 6, but I needed 4-wheel drive for the winters here in Duluth. Larry Durene was my sales associate and he was amazing!! Ryan Carlson in sales was also an amazing person to work with. They ended helping me get a new 2012 F150 SuperCrew truck that fit all of us comfortably, and I felt absolutely safe driving, and for a price that made me quite emotional about. They were amazing men to work with during a rough time in my life. I have had it for 2 winters now and it has been the greatest vehicle I have ever owned. All the maintenance has been done at Northstar as well and I have always had excellent service. I will most definitely buy from them again should the need ever arise when the amazing vehicle I have now has worn itself from the frame!! I highly recommend these two men and anyone else that works there for their amazing service and professionalism in helping me!!! Top Notch!!!
