Awful experience. They did not have the room I reserved. All of the food we tried at multiple restaurants was cold, tasteless, and borderline spoiled. My whole family contracted a food borne illness from our short 24 hour stay here. My daughter slipped twice and fell in the water park in the same place. There were bugs in our room. Water temp in the park is highly variable. Will never go back or recommend.

I was skeptical about this place as I have a season pass at six flags which is just down the road and has a huge water park. It was a total blast though. Got a good deal on Groupon, the staff is all super courteous and helpful. We even had personal assistant available by text for anything we needed. There were lots of other activities that were pricey, but not overly so. The water park was a LOT of fun and bigger than we realized. We stayed overnight, and you can still access the water park the day you checkout. So we got two days at a water park. And it was great because there were four parts of the water park we missed the first day. All-in-all we had a blast and would definitely go back.

Had a hard time getting a room in beginning. Once i received a room all was well. Never got a text or email like they told me . Had to bug them until i was able to get a room 2 hrs later. Showed up a little before 4pm and was in our room at 6:20pm . Showers in rooms were not comfortable either. To much pressure and wasn't adjustable .

We just stayed the evening at the new Gurnee, IL location. The hotel rooms are very clean and comfortable. The atmosphere is energizing. However, I only give this hotel 2 stars because of their lack of communication and accommodation to customers when they are in error.
The water park was advertised as opening at 9:00 am. Our brochure at check in even stated that the park opened at 9:00 am. When our family arrived at the water park we were told that they had miscommunication and that it was just brought to their attention this morning that they didn t have life guards scheduled to arrive until 10:00 am. I contacted customer service and explained our family s disappointment in not being able to enjoy the water park that we paid for due to their miscommunication causing them not to open on time and our families personal schedule requiring us to checkout by 10:30 am. In response to my complaint they offered a noon checkout time, which I had to decline. I again explained that our family schedule required us to be on the road by 10:30 am. I inquired if there was a different activity that they could accommodate the kids with instead. They did not offer any such accommodation until after the supervisor called us when we were already on our way home.

Very good family water park and hotel. They kids loved the activities and the rooms were very nice. The on-site for options are nice, but if you have the time you're better off going to a nearby restaurant to save a bunch of money on the price of their on-site food

REALLY NICE QUICK GET AWAY FOR KIDS. DECENT SIZE INDOOR WATER PARK. GREAT WOLF HAS THE TYPICAL DRY THINGS TO DO. THERES STORY TIME, DANCING, KARAOKE AND MOVIES PLAY IN THE GREAT HALL. THEY HAVE AN INTERACTIVE WIZARD QUEST, ROPES, ROCK CLIMBING, A CANDY STORE, AND BOWLING. DOWNSIDE THE ROOMS DONT HAVE KITCHENS SO EATING GETS EXPENSIVE. HOWEVER ITS LOCATED RIGHT BY GURNEE MALL SO THERE ARE PLENTY RESTAURANTS TO GO DINE AT. ALSO THERE ISNT AS MUCH ADULT ENTERTAINMENT. OVERALL SOLID FAMILY FUN.

The staff and hotel events were great. Food was pretty good as well. This was a birthday event for an 8 year old and they had enough stuff in the package that kept her excited. Only reason it's not 5 stars was because during a scavenger hunt an employee bdidnt give us the right cards and we were looking for a place that didn't exist. We also noticed compared to the great Wolf Lodge in Wisconsin dells the water park was way smaller. The kids still had fun but for an 8 year old she went on all of the rides she could in the first hour.. and most of them she needed a parent to ride with her. Also no hot tub which was a bummer for the adults. All of my gripes aside it's a good... No, GREAT place to take kids.

The resort itself is clean and recently remodelled. Compared to other Great Wolf Lodge, there are less attractions in the pool area. There's no surf simulator (wolf rider wipeout). My daughter was also looking for the big foot pass. As for the rooms, the intensity of the lights were reallt annoying. It was full on incandescent which hurts our eyes. Overall, it's not much of an improvement from when it was still key lime cove.

Fun play place filled with thrills and spills of glee! There's an indoor water park with a lazy river on one end of the spectrum, and a family sized tube ride with deep drops on the other end.
The kids did the rope course, and were fine until the top level of the course.
There's also an electronic adventure game in the context of a "magic" wand to fight a troll & a dragon. We finished the game in an evening, which is very tiring due to the goals of each objective being located at various locations in the two story lodge, and must be completed in specific order.
Overall, the kids had a blast!

I booked paid for a weekend stay for my son and daughter-in-law and my three grandchildren as a Christmas gift. They arrived at Great Wolf at 2 p.m. today, 2/1/19, went to the front desk to get wrist bands for the water park and to let them know they were there so they could get into their room when they were available at 4:00, the advertised check-in time. At 5:30 my son called and said, "our room is not ready still, I just want you to know I have complained and they did give us extra credits for the kids to enjoy more of the extras available to them until the room is ready". I appreciate the fact that they were comped a few extra credits; however, what I don't appreciate is that at 9:40 p.m. their room, along with about 30 other families, IS STILL NOT READY and Eric, the front desk manager, has no solution and no excuse. They have a block of rooms booked at the Hampton in 2 blocks away for people to stay in. I booked this facility so they would have constant access to all that Great Wolf Lodge has to offer not so they sleep two blocks away and get out in the cold to come back and swim in the water park. This stay with all of the extra perks was not cheap, actually it was equal to a two night stay with single park tickets at Walt Disney World and this is the kind of service they provide?????? I stayed here about 6 years ago when it was Key Lime Cove and swore never to return but when they were purchased by GWL and the facilities were remodeled I decided to give it a try--WHAT A MISTAKE, NEVER AGAIN. My daughter -in-law should not have to be apologizing to me, saying, "I'm sorry this is such a hassle." Under no circumstances is this acceptable and if Eric and Great Wolf Lodge thinks it is then they will soon be in the same situation as Key Lime Cove. Don't recommend it under any circumstances. Oh and Eric said when he ended our phone call (which I was very cordial during) to have my kids come to the desk and ask for him personally and he would speak with them. I just got off the phone with them, they went to the front desk and "Eric wasn't available to speak to them" so much for personally taking care of the situation!!!!

I was super disappointed by everything here. This place is so small and over priced. The water park is nothing amazing, extremely small and almost nothing to do. The staff in the water park let people cut lines constantly. The staff in the hotel are awful; my wrist band was damaged and when I asked for another they refused to give me one unless I could tell them all of the room holders info, I had everything but their full address and that wasn't enough so I was forced to wait outside my room for two hours until my roommates woke up. I went to their version of a convenience store at 10 pm because I forgot my contact case and it was closed, every hotel or lodge I've stayed at has always had a store that was open till at least midnight if not 24 hour. The hotel room was very lackluster aswell. The two bedrooms were a decent size but the common area was way too small for all of us to be (10) The bed was very stiff and creaky, the sheets were very uncomfortable they felt like sandpaper. I would never recommend this place to anyone nor will I ever return

For a last minute getaway with the family the price was reasonable and the resort is good. The staff is friendly and welcoming. There are ALL types and kinds of people visiting so if you have any exceptions of a 5 star resort, top of the line food, and high end clintele you need to go the Caribbeans, just saying. It was great for the price, location, and time of year. It's great to have everything in one location, we parked the car and didn't leave the grounds until we checked out. Also, super kid friendly but my husband and I were able to have an adult only meal at one of the local indoor restuarants. Except to pay for the convience, if you want super cheap go to the YMCA. They are a business, just being honest.

This was our first trip to this great wolf lodge. We've been to traverse city, Sandusky, and Cincinnati. We had a lot of fun. We have four children and stayed in the junior cabin suite which was perfect for the kids. There are a lot of activities for all ages. My kids loved the waterpark. Christine was very helpful in getting us a new wristband when my daughter broke hers.

Park is great! 3yr old & 1yr old loved it. We stayed in a room with a bunk bed which was nestled in a cute little room with it's own tv. Arrived at 1, room wasn't ready until 5 which was frustrating but we were able to go into the water park while we waited. The lockers they have to store your stuff in the pool area are very small and you have to pay for them. If they are going to make you wait for your room, they should at least provide you somewhere to put your stuff. Overall, great place!

This isn't against the Illinois location, but against the corporate office. Having stayed at a different location before, the facilities are fantastic the whole family had a blast. That being said, having a trip planned for this past week, which was obviously cancelled with great wolf being closed over covid concerns, I've gotta say it was some the worst customer service I've ever experienced. Apparently the fact they decided to close all their locations for the time being is my problem, but if I'd like to stay in the future, they would be more than happy to have me, after I pay increased rates of course. I don't expect a free stay, or any discount, but I think it sounds more than fair for the previously agreed upon rates to be honoured for a future stay. I'm already out money with my trip being cancelled last minute, not all arrangements were refundable. Now I need to pay you even more to reschedule my stay? And just to top it off the the customer service representative decided it best to argue with me and tell me I don't understand repeatedly, because I'm too dumb to understand that it's ok for them screw me over. Hopefully most of you had a better experience, I know expected better.

Very boring food & Birthday cake ordeal. Then the kids were herded off to the neighboring "arcade area" (1/3 of the games a Chuck E Cheese would have) that was SO EXPENSIVE per short play on machines, that our kids exhausted their $20 cards we bought part of the package WITHIN 15 MINUTES! Absurd... Then, immediately the kids were hustled off into the indoor pool area (which they OBVIOUSLY don't tell paying guests OR Party groups how they market an "open-public swim" all-day bracelet to purchase for any non-guests of Key Lime) & it was unacceptably over-crowded: waiting lines, shoulder-to-shoulder w/ others in the pools--Ugh! Top that scenario off with the 5-6 parents who stayed w/ our party kids & ME told how if we wanted to go into the pool "room" to keep an eye on our kids & their friends--Not To Swim--we had to buy their All-Day pass bracelet at $28/person, I mean, PARENT! I was shocked--&so embarrassed that I put up the money for not only myself, but three other parents that had to stay along their little ones. The final disappointment was when my 6yo came home & realized that she accidentally left her complementary beach towel in the locker/changing room there & she was really upset. I didn't even bother calling to ask if we could pick one up for her, because seeing as how the "party" went, they'd probably make me pay $20 for a replacement, thinking as of I was trying to give a BS story just to score a 3rd blanket. I'll never return & every parent I talk to on the subject of party places around--they hear my above experience as a "cautionary tale" :(
This was our first visit to Great Wolf Gurnee and ...
This was our first visit to Great Wolf Gurnee and will be the last. For $330/night/room the entire experience was disappointing. Check in was a mess. The staff could not find the electronic approval form allowing my family to check in when the reservation was booked under another name and then transferred to my family s name. Just getting the authorization form in a few days before was a hassle and no one could tell me for sure if it was received.
We had two rooms in the reservation but the hotel seemed to think we wanted those rooms on the opposite side of each other on different floors. We agreed to pay an additional $50/night/room to get the rooms closer and on the same floor. Upon arriving to the rooms both rooms were dirty. My room had dried partially eaten donuts under the bed in the kids room (Yum!) and the second room had food wrappers all over from the prior guests.
Restaurant lines were long, staff was slow, the environment was overbearingly loud with music blasting in the lobby and background noise from the rope courses. The pajama dance party seemed like a good idea but due to how loud they blasted the music and the way it echoed in the open area of the lobby, the kids asked to leave. We came back for story time and again, we had to leave. Since the lobby is so loud and the ropes course noise echos, the microphone was turned up so loud that it made the reader sound like amplified mumbling.
Due to long restaurant lines, we eventually chose to order take out for dinner. Upon waking up the next day, we found the restaurant Campfire Kitchen closed and not open until 7:30. Because of this, the line at Dunkin Donuts was incredibly long. This is a family establishment and the breakfast restaurant doesn t open until 7:30? Due to this, we found breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel.
The free wifi is a joke due to how slow it was.
The waterpark is smaller, but what you would expect for something that s not Wisconsin Dells. There were not enough tubes for the lazy river and slides which caused people to wait around at the bottom of the slides and try to take your tube when you were done. Overall, disappointing experience and I won't return. I wish I would have stuck with the tried and true hotels in Wisconsin Dells. If you re an avid Wisconsin Dells visitor don t waste your time or money here.

We attended an outing at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurne...
We attended an outing at Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee, Illinois for a weekend, in October, with the Tourette Association of Illinois. This outing was for families that had children with Tourette Syndrome. This location is new to the area but was previously a water park by a different name and taken over by Great Wolf Lodge. They obviously made some improvements. It is very conveniently located, just off the Interstate and tons of shopping nearby, as well as the Amusement Park, Great America. I doubt you would have time though to leave the hotel as there is plenty to keep you entertained within the hotel itself. There is an extra cost involved if you want to partake in the other activities other than the waterpark area, such as MagiQuest, the Arcade, Mining for gems, or special bowling. The MagiQuest at this location is different to the Wisconsin Dells location. This Magiquest has all the quests scattered throughout the hotel. They do not have a main area just for MagiQuest play. They did give our son a map that showed him where to go. If we go again next year, he will still have quests left that he can do. The rooms and hotel seemed pretty clean in general. I had a hard time sleeping on the firm mattress, but I am very partial to my own adjustable, memory foam bed at home. Our biggest area of complaint would be the food availability and pricing. It was great that they had a Dunkin' Donuts within the facility, but the line at 8:15 a.m. on Sunday was 40 minutes to wait in. Our son is 13 years old and still has many food sensory issues, so feeding him here was not easy. There was cheese pizza, so that was a bonus. There did seem to be a variety of choices for the average person to eat though. The prices were just on the high side. Overall, we did have a nice time. I actually brought my laptop with in order to get some bills done and other things, and the internet was very good.

Got an email saying use the promo GRAND for special deals. Yeah? Special for who? The "resort"? Way too pricey. Be aware. You go to book a room (which is expensive to begin with) and then - oops - here's another $30/night as a "resort fee" for Wolf Ears and 2 bottles of water. Ridiculous. 2 nights in July they wanted over $500 - and then on top of that they add 25% to that ($130) for "taxes and the "resort fees"". Yeah.... Not. Gonna. Happen.

I am so disappointed in this Great Wolf Lodge in Gurnee! It all started with them not able to find my reservation when I tried to check in. I was at the counter almost an hour until they realized they were spelling my name wrong... I gave them my email reservation and everything! (Several people came and went while I stood there at the desk and as they checked in they were told their rooms were not ready yet... this was after 5pm! ) It was ridiculous and a waste of time... we finally get to our room to change and find the TV doesn t work in the room. I go to call the front desk and find the phone isn t plugged in and actually doesn t even have anywhere to plug it in. I use my cell phone to call and report this. This was my sons birthday stay. I ordered a birthday package for the room. At this point we are waiting for maintenance (wasting more time) and I notice the balloons from the package I purchased and they put up on the light fixture were dirty and some had deflated. They were all wrinkled too and looked old so I realized they recycled them. I know I didn t put the grease streak on one of them as we just got in the room! After that I told the customer relations person what had happened and they kindly gave us some wolf passes and we had a great time with those... fast forward to my son getting hurt at the water park the next day by another child. He was skinned and bleed on our towels. The lifeguards and staff were great getting liquid bandage and bandaids and ice packs immediately. We packed up and left since he had open wounds we didn t want to get infected. No fault of the lodge -all was fine. HOWEVER at at midnight I get a charge text from my bank... they charged me $135 in unreturned towel fees. The bloody towels the staff took from us so they got cleaned or discarded properly. $135 dollars!!!!
I will never stay here again! I had planned to come in May for my daughters birthday but we are going to Timber Ridge in Lake Geneva instead. I can t even believe this place... details matter and that charge is insane! I was so happy with the free wolf passes but this charge ruined it!
