Our first grooming experience EVER with our Border Collie puppy went AMAZINGLY well!! Both my puppy and i had never before experienced a groomer before so we were both pretty nervous...but they made us feel welcomed and comfortable...made the experience well worth it...very reasonably priced...$70 for a medium dog bath, nail clip, hair cut, bandanna, treats, $10 tip for groomer, and anything extra they may have done...thats alot!! We were very pleased and will be goin back!!

I bought the CUTEST treats for an adoption event and they were a huge hit! They were fresh and smelled like I should be eating them myself! The service was incredible, the quality was amazing, and the event was PERFECT! So grateful to Happy Dog for only offering quality products!

I love this place! I have a Senior Shetland Sheepdog and the groomers here do a fantastic job on him. I moved 49 minutes away about a year and a half ago. Tried another groomer closer by was totally disappointed. I don't mind the drive here, it's worth it. They also have a great selection of dog collars, leashes and other accessories. I highly recommend them.

I brought my husky in for grooming. His nails were barely cut and he has 2 inches of hair growing in between his pads that was not removed. On top of that it was obvious not brushed out because he came home with hair blowing everywhere and More

Took my 1 yo maltipoo mix there today and they did a fantastic job! He looks like a completely new dog and has a cute bandana! He smells so good and is super soft. Definitely goung back, would recommend to everyone.

I ve been shopping here for four or five years now. I remember the first time I walked in, I'd been searching for a groomer for a few months since I had just gotten a dog again for the first time since moving into the gaston county area. We'd tried a few places around town and not really been happy with anything we'd found. I think we got a flyer for Happy Dog from our vet but one way or another we found them and scheduled a bath. When I walked in a small pack of dogs came to say hello which I thought was just the coolest thing. After distrubuting pets to the pack I spoke to the nice young man behind the register who directed me very happily back to grooming. I think I made a comment to my husband about how happy that guy seemed at just being there. Found our way to grooming in the back and met with a lovely young lady that took her time to figure out everything we wanted and very expertly took my neurotic little one from my arms and wisked her away to bath time. I went back out to the store to check out the dog food selection which I was absolutely impressed by on first glance. Nearly all the best brands were here right in front of me! I didn t have to order them anymore and I was so excited to just dig in and see what they had. That happy young man from behind the register was right there ready to answer any questions I had. Of course I m so used to employees in the big box stores really having no idea what they re even selling I sort of dismissed him but he was persistent and piqued my intrest with a couple comments that demonstrated an at least passable knowledge of dog nutrition so I did quiz him a little with my little chihuahua who was allergic to absolutely EVERYTHING jfc that dog gave me gray hair trying to find her a food she could tolerate. Much to my surprise Brian (as I soon learned was the name of this happy young man) knew exactly what he was talking about and I could not trip him up and we settled on a new food I d try. In due time my baby was returned to me smelling wonderful, with an adorable little bandana and for the first time with any groomer ever not completely traumatized and shivering (did I mention she was a bit neurotic) I was blown away again. So needless to say I knew I d found my new dog place. I went home and posted a review immediately on facebook which led to Brian who it turns out is actually the co-owner of the store sent me a friend request on facebook. The very next time I was in the store maybe a month or two later Brian was there (does he ever leave?) and I was greeted BY NAME on walking in. Amazed and floored yet again! He remembered me, and he remembered my dog s name and her allergies and which food we had bought. Its been years now and we finally lost that dog last year and even through that Brian and Happy Dog have always been there for us. One of the groomers was kind enough to petsit for me for several days when I had a family emergency out of state.
Brian, his mother Teresa and all their staff are some of the most amazing people I ve ever had the pleasure of knowing. I will never shop anywhere else for my fur children. These people have my undying loyalty for life.
They ve won best of Gaston in the pet categories for several years running and I can promise you you ll understand why the moment you walk in the door.

This place is amazing. I found them online since I just moved to NC and needed to have my dog groomed. They were friendly from the moment that I walked in and couldn't believe the numbers of dogs that were coming in that looked excited to be there. They were dashing from the front door to the back area where the grooming is. Needless to say, they did a great job with grooming my dog, especially with around his face and sensitive areas. Definitely going back again.

They always do a great job grooming both our dogs and i think they do a fantastic job scheduling so that yhe dogs arent in yhwre for longer than necessary.

I Waited a Couple Of Weeks to Write This Because I Was Hoping Someone Would Make It Right for Me & My Daisy but I Guess No One Cared Enough to Get Back With Me. I Took My Shih-Tzu There for a Full Groom. Our First Time Going There. When I Filled Out the Paper Work It Was Noted That She was Skittish Around Her Face & I Made Sure the Girl at the Front Desk Knew as Well. Her Groomer s Name was Cody (I think). Someone Else Picked Her Up for Me That Afternoon So I Didn t See the Injury to Her Eye Until I Got Home. I Called Right Away & Spoke With Brian. He Told Me He Would Have the Grooming Manager &/or the Owner Call Me Back Monday (this was on a Fri.) I Did Not Receive a Phone Call Monday, So I Called Back Tues. Afternoon & Spoke With Brian Again. He Once Again Said He Would Text the Grooming Manager & Have Her Call Me Right Back. Well, I Never Received That Phone Call. I Am Very Disappointed That No One Cared to Address an Issue Of a Groomer That Mistreated/Mishandled My Dog When She Was Already Skittish to Begin With! The Injury to Her Eye Was That Of a Busted Blood Vessel & I, as a Nurse Myself Knows That the Only Way for That to Happen is By Pressure. So Either She Was Choked/Strangled or She Was Squeezed Way Too Hard & to Me That is ABUSE!!

Staff is outstanding! Greeted as soon as you open the door and made to feel comfortable. Excellent job with Lady!

I visited this Store on Oct.14th... I love this place. I purchased my fur baby a Birthday cookie...the lady that assisted me was SUPER friendly and answered my questions...she even wanted to see a picture of my baby...the store is AMAZING with awesome trinkets and things for my fur baby... I can't wait to return

Kind people here, with products you can't get in other places. They also provide a doggie day care and allow pets inside the store. Dogs will love the pastries they sell.

Charged full price to only cut my half of my dogs nails because they "couldn't finish the job"... they "couldn't hold him down"? Yeah right. He's 27lbs. Not a big or super strong dog. Terrible service He was also in the back screaming. NEVER going back.

I have taken my 3 fur babies here for 11 years and have ALWAYS had a wonderful experience with each groomer & know first hand that each staff member loves the dogs like their own, because I now work here & see behind the scenes!;) Best quality in Gaston County!!!

They do a great job grooming and the shop is adorable. I have been to a lot of places but never had service like this. Their prices are competitive with the big chains but the service is more individualized. My pom is skittish and usually afraid of going to the groomers, she hides the rest of the day after I pick her up, but here she came back clean and happy. The staff is very friendly and really appreciates their customers. Highly recommend!

This is a quaint pet boutique in Belmont. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us with everything our brand new 1 year old Brussels Griffon rescue needed. They even have free delivery on Tuesdays and Thursdays locally. I'll definitely be back to see more of what Happy Dog has to offer soon.

Love this place! They take great care of my dogs who never act upset about going but are always excited (so you know they are sweet to them!) And their nails are trimmed properly. Knowledgeable staff too.

Been taking my maltese puppy there since she was 10 weeks old, but the ladt few times i have taken her i have been very disappointed with what theyre sayin about my pup. They hsve changed groomers & i am not satifed with the patients they dont have for her. They suggest medicate her & shes just a baby!!

The few times we've been there they have been very nice and courteous. We take our 3 babies there to get their nails trimmed and it's always quick and easy. Give 'em a try.

We love Happy Dog, we take our fur baby there monthly to get groomed. We sometimes come in to get him a treat, and also get his regular food from Happy Dog. Whenever we drive by the store and don't go in, our dog is obviously upset! He LOVES going to see his friends at Happy Dog, he is always excited to run in and enjoy his day! Thank you Happy Dog!!

I have been to this boutique many times. I am always impressed with their customer service and all or the cute items they have in store.

Best little doggy shop around. We get our hard to find high end dog food here. They have a great food selection and rewards program! They also now deliver food to you!! And they have lots of doggie gear. They offer grooming. Most importantly, an incredibly friendly and knowledgeable staff and kind, caring owner!

This is the ONLY place that we go to buy our dog food and treats. The Owner is extremely nice and helpful. If you want a friendly place to take your dogs and buy Top Quality products then this is it!

My dog and I have loved Happy Dog Cafe since moving back to the Charlotte area. My dog started going to their daycare a year and a half ago and continues to go now. Whenever we come in we are always greeted with a friendly face and by name. The daycare staff knows my dog and always loves on him. He literally drags me to the back of the store to go to daycare. I also get him groomed at Happy Dog and my dog always looks phenomenal. He has a lot of hair and it mats easily and the groomers put a lot of time and energy into getting his knots out instead of shaving him which happens at a lot of other places. I ordered a cake for his birthday from there and it looked awesome and he and my roommates dog ate it in only a couple of bites! If you're considering daycare, grooming and pet retail this is THE place to go!!!

Got a cake for my dogs first birthday and she as well as the other puppy guests loved it! My Great Dane swallowed her piece of cake in one bite. Needless to say, the cake was the biggest hit of the party besides all the new toys!

I've been a long time customer of this business for years and up until my most recent visit I've been very pleased with the serviceand the employees . Unfortunately during my last visit my dog's leg was injured and when I contacted Brian about it the next day we had a conversation about it and he asked me if it would be okay for him to do some research about it and that he would call me back afterwards. Our conversation was cordial and polite as I've become accustomed to from this business and it's employees and entirely expected to be treated with care and respect moving forward . To my dismay Brian never called me back that day or anytime after that . I wish that I would have inspected my dog before leaving the store because not only was his leg injured but also has a cut in his left ear about an inch and a half long . To be honest I might not have noticed it because the scab didn't harden over til the next couple of days . Normally I'm charged 48 dollars for the service and I tip the staff at the time of pickup , but for some unknown reason I was charged an additional 15 dollars which I paid prior to pickup . When the young lady called to inform me that he was completed she said she thought he had a urinary infection because of the way he reacted to having his hair cut in that area . Now I truly believe that was a remark in order to cover the injuries he endured . I'm extremely disappointed with Brian for not responding to this situation especially after stating that he would . I never expected this type of treatment from Brian as he seems like a nice man but sadly he falls into the norm of the times , people who won't own up to their mistakes and attempt to remedy the situation through good customer service . I'm sorry to say but they've lost a customer and I will certainly advise all the other customers that I referred here . I expected better from you Brian , especially with all the good reviews posted and my years of patronizing your store . True customer service is easy when everything is going well , but it is nothing if you don't stand up like a man when things aren't going well and look for some form of remedies to ensure good customer experiences each and every time . I'm sorry to be so frank , but I feel like a real gentleman would have at minimum returned the call . My mistake for expecting to be treated like a valued customer . What I should have done was take my dog back in the following day and raised a fuss so other customers could witness the condition of my dog . Sadly this is my best recourse now short of a lawsuit to cover the costs for veterinary care and the pain my dog is forced to endure .

My overall experience was great! My dog gets really nervous in public & often has accidents in the store, but the staff was so friendly that she got through the whole trip accident free. The selection of treats and toys was phenomenal! Their were so many options... Next time I'm in Belmont, I will definitely pay them another visit!

Wow!! Love this place it's a little pricey on some stuff most of all the staff is excellent and that make's everything worthwhile the place could be the cheapest and have the best stuff in there but if you don't have great employees or a good staff your no good

Great customer service helped us find new dog food.

I wish they d educate their staff about not coming up to a very well trained dog who needs to stay in heel position and does NOT need 2 employees coming up to pet him without asking. My Great Pyrenees kept moving his head away from both employees but they both kept petting and petting!! The co owner Brian was right there the whole time, PLEASE say something to your employees. We Will not be back!

After being a customer since they opened, I won't return. I refuse to support owners who will not listen to issues about their services.

We have 2 furbabies that we've been taking to Happy dog cafe for nearly a year now and the staff and services are wonderful...will never go anywhere else...

I take both my Yorkie, Zoe, and my Golden, Jake, for grooming at Happy Dog. Everyone is so friendly and warm that I usually end up hanging out and shopping for a while. They have a good selection of toys, food, and treats. Jake, like most Golden Retrievers, is a big shedder! They do a de-shedding treatment and he looks and feels so much better. I drive about 35 minutes both ways because they do such a good job with Jake and neither of my dogs mind going.

Brian is my friend. I ran out of food for the dogs and did not realize they closed at 4pm on Saturday. I was walking away and Brian's family was working that day and was closing up shop and asked if I had enough food until tomorrow. They reopened just for me. They are wonderful people and my prayers are to Brian that God will heal his heart and let Brian live many years. There prices are really really just right and they don't overcharge like many small family owned business do that I know. May they have many years of blessings. Thank you Happy Dog Cafe.

My dog has visited this place since the days of the yappy hour on Saturdays. Great place to take your doggie. Great owners and your dog must try the bow-wow treats.

The staff & own are so friendly and have excellent products at affordable prices! I love that you can buy 10 large bags of food and get the next one free!!! what a deal. They also have a daycare and great groomers. I don't live in Belmont but it is worth the drive to support such a wonderful small business. And they always tell me how cute my dogs are and not many people do because they are hairless and silly

I love this place. My dog Precious seems to love it as well. All the other groomers that she's been to, she would come out still scared, but not this one. They also cut her hair exactly as I ask them to. We will be going as long as they take us.

This is the best animal grooming establishment I have ever used. The people that work there from the owners to the ones that take care of the animals are very good at what they do. I know I wouldn't trust my dog to anyone else but the Happy Dog Cafe. Thanks guys you are the best. My dog is a part of our family and it's nice to know that she will be taken care of. If I could give them more than a five star rating I would. Oh yeah they have a broad selection of things my dog loves. Just glad she doesn't have the money.

On August 3rd 2019, we took our 3 dogs went to Happy Dog Cafe Boutique and Spa in Belmont NC for a full groom. When we picked them up we immediately noticed Clare was having difficulty breathing and was gasping for air. We dashed home to drop our other dogs, and rushed Clare to the urgent care vet. Clare died within an hour, despite the wonderful care and attention that the vet gave her. The vet report states probable accidental strangulation at the groomers. We have spent the week trying to communicate with with Happy Dog to understand what may have happened in those hours that Clare was in their care. The owner of the business has said Clare was fine when she was with them, and also said that video proves they have done nothing wrong. We have requested access to the video and have had no response. They have ignored numerous requests and communications by phone, text, and email. We are heartbroken, and will continue to plead with Happy Dog to allow us to see the video. She suffered trauma while in their care, and we would like to work with them to ensure nothing like this ever happens again. Tragically, in NC, there are no requirements for licensing of groomers and no governing body to investigate injuries and deaths of beloved pets. We lost the most gentle, loyal, and loving soul last week. Happy Dog uses neck restraints, which may be usual practice, but training, regulation, licensing, and penalties, must be made mandatory for this profession.

Took both of my pups here for the the first time on Saturday. They did an awesome job on the grooming and the staff is absolutely friendly and wonderful. I highly recommend.

8/14/2016 We took our precious baby Sophie to Happy Dog Cafe for her first full grooming, she is now 7 months old. From the time we entered to store we were treated like royalty and Sophie was like a little princess to them. They are kind and caring and pay close attention to every detail and aspect of their customers. Brian the co owner is a wonderful person and takes his time to personally see that you are getting the best. They also have the best prices on top name food and supplies for you pets needs. We will always go to Happy Dog ! BTW Sophie is very, very happy.
