Waterpark is great for kids, a few big slides for older kids and adults. The restaurants are all pretty good, a little pricy though. Our room was clean and comfortable, but nothing to really write home about.

Im happy to be here and feels comfortable here and for some reason at a better home, I would never want to leave here. This hotel has nice views, even if its facing the highway has a nice views. Even though it close to $300, Its worth it. (Also to travel 85 miles it's still worth it.) If I would, I'll come back here for a couple more days to release my stress from school. I like the waterpark the best because it releases stress out of my system.

Had a nice overnight stay in a den room, the tvs all had the ability to search and play YouTube videos, wifi had no passwords. Magiquest is a great way to entertain kids with quests and plenty of going around the lodge to complete them, should entertain them for hours. Then the Waterpark of course is nice.

Great wolf lodge, formerly key lime cove, is a good place for a family getaway. It's a good location. The rooms were nice. Only had one issue with service from a manager of all people but besides that it was a good experience.

Rooms are just OK, food is overpriced, water park is meh. However we had a decent time. Except when we were moved from our room at 10 pm because our "neighbors" were fighting in the hallway. Just a big bag of meh. Spent way to much money for just a mediocre time.

Very easy and quick check in on a Friday afternoon. Over the phone they said our room wouldn't be ready until 4p bur we got there at 1245pm and it was ready. We had to park a little far for how much I needed to carry to the room since we were on a room that was on the opposite side. When we got to the room they had a nice balcony with seats and a fridge. I wish there was a microwave but I guess that would make you bring your own food. The food prices were not bad but the quality was ok. This stay was payed for by a free night voucher so it was great. I was not impressed by the Waterpark I would have payed extra to go somewhere the Wisconsin Dells instead.

Ok. This is a fun place with a great waterpark. The little kid areas are gated and the giant dumping bucket area has only one entrance so you can keep tabs on kids while giving them a little freedom. We went Sunday-Monday and Monday was pretty empty compared to Sunday which was nice. It is organized chaos with a really neat wrist bracelet system that you can charge things to your room instead of needing to carry cards or cash. It also doubles as your room key which is also amazing. The kid's bracelets work also. The people are super nice and it runs like a well-oiled machine. Now for the complaints. We have been to the one in Traverse City twice. We were thrilled when we heard the Gurney, IL location opened because it's an hour closer to my house in Michigan but we wish we would have made the drive. The one at Traverse City is rustic and authentic. Hand-carved decorations and taxidermy. Story time at Gurney was a giant projector and a big screen. If I hadn't been to the one up north I wouldn't know what I was missing. That's why 4 stars. Also - they have this silly thing they do up north where they bring these fake pumps out and the kids think they are starting up the water park. Silly? Yeah but the kids loved it. In Gurney they have a rock climbing wall and a 9 hole mini golf course and a ropes course. It costs a small fortune to do all this stuff and we dont go for that. We go for the water park. Which was amazing and we loved the slides. They have a neat locker system that connects to the bracelet but it costs between 10 and 15.00 PER DAY to use. Sheesh. They got 200 bucks to have me use my room for sleep and I have to rent lockers also? We had a great time but go with the right expectations.

The hotel's pretty nice, but for some reason the bathroom in our room had no lock. The water park is fun and seemingly well maintained. The food is around average and a bit overpriced, and the Coke freestyle machines only allow you to fill your cup a limited amount of times, and the cups are quite small.

But hey the children had fun so that's a good thing

The kids (6 and 8) were over the moon in bliss. They spent 5 hours a day on Magiquest (which cannot easily be explained, you have to see it) and made the Wolf pass easily the best money we spent in ages. The water park is decent. The hotel and park was a bit crowded but not too bad, even on Xmas holidays.

The other activities (ropes course, mini golf, mini bowling) are compact and meh, but fine enough for the kids. Arcade way overpriced. It would not be hard to have a few more adventurous and large activities, or things that are also fun for grownups too. It s not as if space if scarce in Illinois. But this hotel does not have the feel of an ambitious place. They have a magic formula for kids and it makes them oodles of cash.

The food was really bad and grossly overpriced, and I felt dehydrated the whole trip because water fountains are rare and drinks are overpriced. Probably the food was the lowlight. Pizza was about as low quality as you can find, other than ChickECheese. It would not be hard to add a bit more variety and a few more healthy options other than the small bland and uninspired salads. You re a captive audience so you end up spending lots of cash on bad quality junk.

Could have been cleaner in walk ways (stairs to slides) in water park. Not many activities. Room was not big enough. They did well with insuring people wore masks. Family breakfast was all reheated/frozen food. I liked the baby area but very slippery, could be refinished for walking. My girls kept falling. My family had a great time. We perfer Wi Dells.

From the time we walked in to the time we walked out we felt very welcome. The staff was great and very helpful. Room was in fine shape and was about par to any other water park. The water park itself was also great. Lifeguards all over which was good to see and all looked to be very well trained. In the water park the only place to get food or drinks was closed. I found this to be a pain to have to go out of the park to get anything for the family. Also the floor was being re-done as you walked in and it was nice to see that they try to keep up with repairs. The food was fine from the place we ate at. It's not a big name restaurant so as long as you don't go expecting something like that you will be very happy. The locker room was clean. Again my biggest gripe is the staffing at the shops and food area.

I want to give more stars, but simply can t based ...

I want to give more stars, but simply can t based on my stay. Overall, there is tremendous potential here and I acknowledge that my family s trip had some issues hopefully others do not run into.

Pros:
1. Location: anything you could want very close by including Six Flags and Gurnee Mills essentially across the street. Also great dining choices.

2. Amenities: While most of the dining we did not attempt due to not being able to sit in restaurants with COVID guidelines, I thought the in house Dunkin Donuts was great for the kids and also the adults enjoyed having coffee close by. I felt the range of activities outside the water park were great and mostly fairly priced and my kids enjoyed the ropes course and climbing wall. The one exception was the arcade where many games were in the 2-2.50 range depending on how many points you bought and if you have multiple kids the points will not last long.

Neutral:
1.Check in/check out: check out was perfect with a bye and no wait. Check in was a longer wait as staff had said that the reservation system was lagging . Not sure what that meant, but It did take awhile compared to the number of people in line. Check in staff did not mention to our party or other family members staying at hotel but they give out 2 types of wrist bands for the room and water park access. 1 with features to charge and enter rooms and 1 that is just a wrist band with no room entry available. Both of our parties gave the kids the bands with room and water park access. Just flip the bands over to make sure you have the ones with the chip.

Cons:
1. Water Park Safety: my 10 year old child stepped on a tack in the water park. This is an odd occurrence, but I m trying to figure out how a tack got in there in the first place. I assume this was dropped from staff and if so these sorts of sharps should not be allowed in a water park without exception as it is just asking for trouble. I was also concerned that my son came limping back to me after he noted this to staff who gave him a band-aide and cleaning towel. No incident report if it got infected later and no one escorted him back to his parents with the injury. As a former lifeguard instructor and aquatics manager, this just is not a way to do this work. Disappointed is an understatement.

2. Rooms: the room itself was ok. I actually enjoy the spacing as it is adequate for the number of guests. The tv features with apps were a plus for our family, however we had an issue where our in room smoke detector was randomly going off. The first time it went off on its own, the second time someone came up to change battery (I was not happy at all with the time it took for maintenance to get there as the noise bothered the kids). The third time, I did not have to wait nearly as long for maintenance but we had guests already sleeping who got woke up and had to mask up for maintenance staff who made the comment that the model was very old on the smoke detector. Simply, not a comfortable stay for our family.

Overall, reasonably I could see an instance where people did not have our issues and completely enjoyed their stay as well. For our family, we will likely stay somewhere else and enjoy theme parks, water parks, and shopping close by.

In terms of comparing this to Keylime Cove (the old establishment) Great Wolf Lodge made great improvements. The splash pad area is bigger and has more seating (fewer big tables). The wave pool is an expanded addition and all our kids loved it young and old. The raft tube slide is great because you can have up to 5 people ride at once making it great for groups/families. We picked a suite and they mock a log cabin for the kids room with a bunk bed and TV. I don't recall if the wristband access was also part of Keylime but either way, being able to pay and unlock your room with a wristband is so nice. When you're in and out of water, watching your kids, buying food, souvenirs, etc it's amazing not to have to keep tabs on a wallet. All in all best weekend at a indoor water park by far. The catch is it isn't cheap but I do feel like it was worth the money.

Great family fun! The waterpark is big for being indoors! My tips...look ahead at the attractions and decide what you want to do in advance because while the water park admission comes with your stay there are lots of extras that can add up. Also use the bathrooms in the back of the water park. They re nicer and rarely have people in them. Halloween is a really fun time to come lots of extra free fun!

I hope this saves you time, money, headaches, pain and worry! Do Not Go To @greatwolflodge
Horrible experience. On Friday July 5, 2019 a bug crawled on me while laying in bed at the Great Wolf Lodge Gurnee location. I called the front desk and they said a manager would be right up. After an hour of waiting, I called again and the front desk said a manager was on his way. 15 minutes later the aquatics and management arrived and I showed them the dead bug I smashed on the pillow. My husband and I spoke with the team of aquatics and Eric. I was given two options by Ro the supervisor in aquatics, move to another room or receive a refund. I choose a refund. Eric, the manager on duty, came back into the room and asked me which option I would like and I said a refund. We arrived thursday and scheduled to stay until Sunday. We had an entire 4th of July weekend planned but the bug in our room really ruined it. What made it worst was when I went to check out, an hour later, the front desk lady said I was NOT going to be fully charged for my stay and that I would have to wait until I receive the aquatics report of inspection. I asked to speak with Eric. Eric refused the refund as well, I was so SHOCKED. Eric disregarded the refund he just promised us an hour ago and begin to just disregard the fact that I was just in his hotel and had a bug crawling on me kneck. I later had to get the police involved and Grant, another manager on duty, issued me a receipt for a full refund. The fact that I had to go through all of this was horrible. Terrible customer service by Eric. He should be fired! I've traveled to so many amazing places and yes things happen but the fact that O jad to endure a DISGUSTING #bedbug + rude staff was horrific. NEVER AGAIN. #greatwolflodgegurnee #greatwolflodge @greatwolflodge

Kids had an amazing time. It was clean and staff was very nice. The reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 is because its ridiculous expensive. It's not horrible during the week but on the weekends it's very expensive. I wish the locker rooms were set up better too. It's very hard to get 2 kids showered and dresses when there is no where to put your stuff other then the wet floor. Its needs seats in stalls or the very least some hooks to hang stuff on.

This hotel seems fairly new. Not sure when it was built, but the rooms are nice and clean. The hotel itself is clean, but the patrons here are slobs. It's amazing how inconsiderate families can be! The staff here is very nice. The water park is a bit small to what we are accustomed to. There is no hot tub, and only a swimming pool outside, all waterslides and fun zones are inside. It's a bit frustrating that they charge extra for several activities (mini golf, mini bowling, ropes course, rock wall). We have not ate here, for fear of the price, but there are several restaurants within a 1/2 mile of the resort . There is a large arcade with lots of games ($$$). The fitness center here needs MUCH improvement! It's two ellipticals, two treadmills, a stationary bike and dumbbells up to 40#s. The room is the size of a large walk in closet. I would come back here, but only due to my kids interest in the water park.

The facility and rides were pretty impressive compared to others in the Chicagoland region. My room was decent, good enough, nothing spectacular but I will say it was pretty far and a long walk to all the action in the center of the facility. Got crowded when the day camps arrived, and felt dirty and grimy when I saw puddles of brown water and some tarp covered with vomit that had been left there overnight and well into the next day.

Great place for kids. They're really flexible with allowing you to use the water park early on check in date and late on checkout. There are lots of great restaurant options nearby. I recommend this over eating at the resort.

Went for the first time with grandchildren They do love to go here and have on several occasions. Prices are ridiculously expensive, cleanliness was average at best railings gosh knows when anyone ever cleaned them sticky every where you go.
I can t fathom why a hotel with a water park does not have a safe in the room
Prices for drinks are also over the top be aware and do ask or you too will have sticker shock how can one call this family friendly
Credit is for the staff they were very knowledge and helpful from the checkin to our checkout

The family room with a very small kitchenette has nothing to use no soap no towels again prices are way to high for such lack of simple things.

Lighting in rooms challenging some work some don t some you cannot find at all

All that being said our grandchildren love the activities and that matters but they surely could do better for the price you pay.

First time coming to this location since key lime cove closed and great wolf renovated the original resort Really liked the addition added to the pool. The prices for additional activities were fairly priced. What really made this a 5 star review was the staff. EVERYONE was friendly and helpful. All staff were knowledgeable and informative. The type of customer service that is implemented here is genuine kindness not a sterilized fake smile as they recite their policy. One of my kids tried the multi level challenge were you are connected to a cable. We didn't think he would complete the whole thing but the staff encouraged us to let him try it anyway. If he couldn't finish they would refund the money which they did. Another example, a woman cleaning the windows giving you a pleasant "are enjoying your stay?" An employee that was training a new hire, noticed us attempting to get our kids to smile, and made a bunch of silly faces to get then smiling.

The staff was nice but the management of this location was POOR!! We were at this location during Thanksgiving last year and returned again this year. Not sure what changed in management but WOW was it different than just 12 months ago.

Thanksgiving dinner - The food was NOT good. The dinner was poorly run and overpriced for quality of the meal. It was a self serve dinner served in a hotel conference room.

Restaurant - The man dinning restaurant was open for a short time each day. The hours posted were never adhered to and the food was priced like a fine dinning yet the food was the quality of a diner. FYI - 12oz Bud Lite $7.09.
The downstairs food court area - food quality on the edge of gross (the hamburgs was SO BAD). The best food items I found were french fries and pizza (FYI -you can find WAY better down the street at a fast food location for MUCH cheaper!!!).

In short we will not be back!

Arrived around noon at the lodge and was surprised that I was able to check in right away than wait until 4pm to do so. Had the option which I took, to connect a room charge to the bracelet I was provided and wore whole time for charges and check in to the room. Very convenient and it's free. The room itself was very spacious and comfortable. The only downside was that there was no stepstool for the sink for my daughter as it was very high and had to lift her up everytime to wash her hands, even the beds were tad too high, and the toilet had no child protection so I though the room itself was not family/kid friendly at all given that the reservation provided information that a 3 year old would be in the room. Apart from that, resort is beautiful, wooden and very comfortable. The waterpark states that it's 84 degrees year round but it's actually a feeling of less than 80 and around 75 instead. Even the staff confirmed that when the resort opened in June, it was humid in the waterpark but now it's much colder. Dining options are limited in regards to the hours of operation. Dunkin donuts is open 7am to 1pm; Barnwood restaurant is on a casual elegant atmosphere and a bit pricey. Apart from all, my daughter enjoyed her first overnight trip with mom.

The room we had was spacious. Private master and en suite. The amenities we're convient.

Now the execution was horrible. So many people were waiting for their rooms because "... housekeeping department had a lot of workers not show up..."

My spouse wasn't happy with the hotel amenities ( towels, shampoo, soap, toilet paper and tissues). However, we understand that it's a place for fun and kids.

Been to Great Wolf Lodge on many occasions. I was happy to see that there is now one closer to home. If you have never been to great wolf this is an awesome place to go. However, if your used to Great Wolf Lodge in the Dells this one seems to be compacted, I also did not find a hot tub. One other issue was my son fell and had a pretty large bump on the head and a minor cut on his leg. After asking a life guard for a bandage and an icepack, it took quite a bit of time for someone to come over to us, I'm glad it wasn't something more severe. The arcade was not really worth it. I tried and tried and could not get a stuffed animal out of the claw machines, its rigged bad, I dont want to toot my own horn but I generally can pull at least one or two out of the dang things. Not the experience I was exspecting but still a good time. The 530am false fire alarm just dropped this down a star. Could have done without that.
