This was our first visit to Great Wolf Gurnee and will be the last. For $330/night/room the entire experience was disappointing. Check in was a mess. The staff could not find the electronic approval form allowing my family to check in when the reservation was booked under another name and then transferred to my family s name. Just getting the authorization form in a few days before was a hassle and no one could tell me for sure if it was received.

We had two rooms in the reservation but the hotel seemed to think we wanted those rooms on the opposite side of each other on different floors. We agreed to pay an additional $50/night/room to get the rooms closer and on the same floor. Upon arriving to the rooms both rooms were dirty. My room had dried partially eaten donuts under the bed in the kids room (Yum!) and the second room had food wrappers all over from the prior guests.

Restaurant lines were long, staff was slow, the environment was overbearingly loud with music blasting in the lobby and background noise from the rope courses. The pajama dance party seemed like a good idea but due to how loud they blasted the music and the way it echoed in the open area of the lobby, the kids asked to leave. We came back for story time and again, we had to leave. Since the lobby is so loud and the ropes course noise echos, the microphone was turned up so loud that it made the reader sound like amplified mumbling.

Due to long restaurant lines, we eventually chose to order take out for dinner. Upon waking up the next day, we found the restaurant Campfire Kitchen closed and not open until 7:30. Because of this, the line at Dunkin Donuts was incredibly long. This is a family establishment and the breakfast restaurant doesn t open until 7:30? Due to this, we found breakfast elsewhere outside the hotel.

The free wifi is a joke due to how slow it was.

The waterpark is smaller, but what you would expect for something that s not Wisconsin Dells. There were not enough tubes for the lazy river and slides which caused people to wait around at the bottom of the slides and try to take your tube when you were done. Overall, disappointing experience and I won't return. I wish I would have stuck with the tried and true hotels in Wisconsin Dells. If you re an avid Wisconsin Dells visitor don t waste your time or money here.
