I have been a Toyota Sunnyvale customer for a year and a half. On Wednesday, May 22nd, 2019, I went in for an oil change. My service advisor Millis Ishoo Bayatay, advised me to replace the power steering fluid because it was considered to be low and to replace the battery because it failed a battery test. He quoted me $400.

I went to Napa Auto Parts, I spoke with a mechanic, he tested the battery and it turned out the battery was fine. The mechanic saved me $400! I am never going back to Toyota Sunnyvale. They are crooks.

No response, after proving that the car has a software bug in it, they took 3 hours to check on a simple yet consistent bug, in their infotainment software, but they won't admit.
And they said that would raise a case about the same to toyota softwRe department, but even after 3 months, there is no response from them.

Very bad at customer support, and at addressing customer issues.

I bought my Prius on December 31, 2012 and had the best car buying experience ever. This is my third time purchasing a new car, but my first Toyota. I had a really nice salesman (Kevin Chew) he and his team gave me service and deal that made me leave without any regrets.

I have not had to go in for any car service yet so I will write a review about that later.

Thanks Toyota Sunnyvale for making my car buying experience a pleasant and non stressful one!

I bought my car at this dealership 8 years ago, with a very good experience. Unfortunately my new experience with the recall/service department was very sub-par.

I received a recall notice and called to schedule an appointment. Unfortunately the phone call turned into a 20-minute ordeal, which mostly consisted of waiting on hold. The recall appointment time slot is also only between 8 and 10am in the morning, which means i will have to battle through traffic to get to the dealership.

I also asked the rep to look into an unrelated service issue (wheel bearing noise). He said that he is in recall department, and not service, and i will have to speak to other person. After transferring my call, the dealership phone system dropped the connection. I dialed the service line directly, spent another 5 minutes on hold, just to get to a voice mail prompt.

If you value your time and money, don't go to this...

If you value your time and money, don't go to this dealership. After I had gone all the way through the check-in process, I was told, "sorry, but we have no technicians for you car today. We will start working on your car tomorrow." I feel like this was a complete bait and switch just to get me to come to this dealership vs. going to another location. Why take appointments if you have not plans to honor them.

If you don't want to waste a lot of time, choose another dealer or better yet another place the does service on Toyotas and save your self a lot of time and money.

Also, check out their yelp reviews, LOTS of negative reviews. I have learned my lesson. Don't waster your time and learn yours the hard way.

I compared deals among eight dealers and eventually chose Toyota Sunnyvale. I purchased my car here with the help of Amir Kandil. As far as I have seen, they have the best price and service.

Amir is super friendly and helpful, spends a decent amount of time introducing me all the info, and argues with his colleagues for my discount. Surely sales are very busy and want to get a better price, but Amir's honesty and sense of humor make everything happen fast and happy. If you want to buy a car, strongly recommend Amir.

The numerous Halloween decorations all over their store also entertain me, which might be one of the few funny moments during my visits to several dealers and which is also a sign that this dealership has a well-developed culture and respectful employees.

This was my FIRST time buying a new car, and it turned out wonderfully! At first I was nervous, especially because of all the negative stereotypes about car salespeople, but Cindy put me at ease right away. While it took me visiting a third time to finally make a decision, all the employees we dealt with were very patient and understanding of my needs. I never felt as if I were being pushed into anything, and our final salesman, Delon, was very straightforward and communicative about everything. I would definitely recommend this dealership to all my family and friends. And I love my new car! Thank you Toyota Sunnyvale!

Absolutely terrible service:
I recently went to get a low tire pressure issue checked at the service shop. The tires were pretty new, on a Toyota Camry which was only 4 months old.
After 4 hours, I got a call from the shop saying that that were was a nail in the (side bar ?) of one of the tires, and the whole tire needs to be replaced at a cost of 180$. I was quite shocked to hear how a brand new tire can be damaged to such an extent, but since I was being pressed to authorize the tire replacement, and I need the car for commute, I gave them permission. Of course I was under the impression that the old tire will be retained.
Once I went to pick up my car and asked the service person to show me the tire, he just mentioned that he had disposed off the tire, throwing it into a dump of 100 or more tires. So not only did I pay to get a brand new tire replaced, I had no way of even checking my old tire.
The whole thing smelt of a complete scam to me. How can a new tire be so damaged by a nail that it had to be thrown away? Why would the shop throw away the old tire without my permission? Who gave them the authority to do that? When I asked, the service guy said that I should have asked them to retain the tire. Why? Why do I have to tell them to retain a tire of my car, and how can the shop be authorized to dispose of a car's part without asking the owner? Even if I wanted to make a claim with the tire insurance company, I could not since they need to see the tire to verify. How can a service shop not know that?
Seriously what kind of service is being provided in such a outwardly glitzy shop?

DAN WALCH was our salesperson, and our interactions with him were wonderful, non of the dread associated with buying a car. Amir Kandil gave us a truly exceptional experience in buying our car. He was super helpful, kind, and supportive from the start to the finish. He was genuinely caring to help us choose the best vehicle and optimize our experience throughout the whole process. What a terrible experience!!!! So greedy!!!! Is this one of the options that you get money from your costumer that to break their car and then ask them for money to repare!!

I dropped off my car (2004 black Corolla) to Toyota Sunnyvale at 11am on 17 Nov for just "oil and filter change" and picked up the car at 12pm on 18 Nov. When I pick up my car, I find some new problems (that wasn't there before for sure) in the left front door. The window of the door happens to be loose and move back-forward when I close it. And the window wrapper is obviously broken compared to before.

Then I talked to the "manager" there, he told me that I have to pay for ~$190 to figure out the reason causes this problem. aha, that sounds unreasonable to me. Should this be the responsibility of your department to take care of a customer's vehicle when it is in your service place? what if the car is stolen then? I cannot believe the first thing that "manager" did is asking me for $money$, but not a good attitude to find out what causes this problem and how to fix it!

This was my first time to be so angry and loudly spoke out the F word, not because the problem itself, but the way and the attitude from that "manager" to handle this issue. Is this because it's just a 2004 year car? so it should be treated like this? What a joke there in your invoice page says that "CUSTOMER SATISFACTION IS OUR #1 GOAL"!!

I came here to buy my first car. I had an idea of what I wanted and after test driving and looking around, had a couple options in mind. Thankfully my salesman, Dino, made it clear how the numbers, features, and overall car experience would be for each. There was no pressure in making a decision that day and when I was ready to purchase, him and Finance Manager, Kevin, worked with me to make the process smooth and clear as possible. I felt their service was truly exceptional in that they were careful and sincere in finding out what I wanted and could afford as a car buyer and never did I feel like I was being sold more than I needed. I feel confident in my purchase of the Corolla Hatchback xse and as rare as it was to find, Dino and Kevin remained patient and worked after hours to bring this car to me. Thanks Toyota Sunnyvale

I worked with Bobby Scott and I'm very happy right now wrt pricing, customer service, and the car itself!

Bobby was extremely professional, very prompt and courteous in answering all the questions, and the sales process was extremely transparent and honest -- and it was very quick too. No hidden fees or anything like that. They quoted me a very competitive price on Camry and when I showed up to the dealer, what was quoted was what I paid.

I did visit other dealerships too during my search, and Bobby was one of the nicest dealers I dealt with.

Anyways, I can highly highly recommend Bobby if you're looking for a new Toyota vehicle to buy.

Bad recall service. Only provides recall (NHTSA Recall ID 17V718) service on weekdays. It's more than inconvenience, as custom have to pay for loaner car.
Update: Called the 2nd time, a different receptionist re-scheduled the appointment to weekend, though need to wait more than 2 weeks, still better than weekdays.
The repairing service itself is good. The bad part was mainly the call center (1st time, 2nd time is good).

Our experience at Toyota Sunnyvale was wonderful. We were looking for a used car for our daughter and had visited several used car dealerships. One Saturday, we went to Toyota Sunnyvale there was no high pressure sales or upselling. Eric Brillhart, Direct Sales Manager, introduced himself, stated that he was there if we wanted to test out a car or had questions and walked away. We stopped Eric and asked him some questions and explained what we were looking for. Eric showed us several cars that met our criteria. When my daughter got off work we went back to Toyota Sunnyvale and Eric showed her several cars she could afford and never tried to talk her into a car out of her price range. With Eric s help we found my daughter the right car for her. After filling out the paperwork, Eric left us in the capable hands of Ken Costa, Financial Services Manager. Ken walked us through all the finance paperwork explaining anything we weren t clear on. Ken even warned us that there was something off about our pre-approved loan through our credit union and they might not honor the loan. That Monday, Ken called and said that the credit union was rejecting our pre-approved loan because the car was over 10 years old and had over 100,000 miles. Our credit union never mentioned any restrictions even when we said we were looking for cars that were in the 2002-2004 year range. Ken told us not to worry that he understood what we could afford and what we needed in a loan. Ken offered to reach out to some of his contacts at banks see what kind of loan he could get us. I called the credit union. The credit union admitted the mistake was theirs and after the manager made a few phone calls, they said they could still give us a loan, but at a higher interest rate. In the end we ended up with the same loan terms and interest rate we were originally approved for at the credit union through a bank Ken found for us. Our experience at Toyota Sunnyvale couldn t have been better. I would recommend Toyota Sunnyvale to anyone looking for a used car. I know when I need another car I will be going back to them.

Hands down the worst customer service from the Service Department possible.

Are you planning to make an appointment for service at Toyota Sunnyvale? Don't bother.

After waiting over 2 hours after my scheduled appointment, I was told by Bill Moody, my appointment gave me a little priority over customers that come by for drop in service. According to Bill Moody, any scheduled appointment means work may not begin for up to 3 hours afterwards.

Due to a mistake/negligence by Service Advisor Christopher Penn, due to lack of attention to details, I was told I could have waited another 2-3 hours , if I hadn't personally checked up on my vehicle's service status.

Are you kidding me?

Why bother making an appointment at all?

After receiving the statements of just how important is to maintain the service schedule of my new vehicle, from Charles Wallace, Service and Parts Director, I receive a loaner vehicle with the "Maintenance Required" lit on the dash.

Now I am stuck without my vehicle and driving a vehicle that violates the advice of the Toyota Sunnyvale Service and Parts Director.

How ironic... :(

If I could, I would give Toyota Sunnyvale a 0 star rating.

Responsive, personable, courteous, kind, honest. A wonderful car buying experience top to bottom. Martin in Sales and Marwan in Finance were both sincere individuals and we most definitely enjoyed working with them. I would highly recommend Toyota Sunnyvale to friends and family. And loving the new Prius Prime Plus.

Time after time, I've gotten great service here. On my most recent visit, the Service Rep gave me a great price on the 60K service for my Prius (most dealerships try to charge a really steep flat-rate at major service intervals, but since the only recommended service for the Prius at 60K is tire rotation + oil change, he only billed me for that, and threw in the inspection items free). He contacted me immediately when they found a problem with the water pump, and gave me a free car rental.

I can not speak English fluently, but Nestor is very patient to listen to me and try to understand my bad English. The car need to be alignment, but it was late on that day. Nestor contact service manage and arranged for us on the next Tuesday. Everything goes well. The car he introduced to us infiniti G35 is very good. we drive it for two weeks and are satisfied with it.

It was a pleasant experience working with Toyota Sunnyvale. There were no high pressure buying tactics employed by the Sales guys.
I was offered a competitive price upfront so there was no need for any haggling.
The Sales manager Victor Kamara was really good and knowledgeable about the Camry I was planning to buy. He very helpful and explained clearly any doubts that I had.
The Finance guy Phil Benavidez was extremely professional and polite. He completed the financing very promptly and answered any questions I asked.
I would recommend this dealership for anyone thinking of buying a new Toyota.

I had a great sales experience with Navin.

In conversation, I learned about the practices and policies of Sunnyvale Toyota ... and liked them:
Openness, fair pricing, great service hours, an extremely good warranty (several days to change my mind!!).

During the initial publicity over the alleged brake problem with the Prius, the only dealership that
I observed to be willing to talk to the press was Sunnyvale Toyota.

Their handling of my trade-in was professional and quite fair.
(They treat the trade-in as a separate deal, which is good.)

When I changed my car order at the last second ... they'd prepped a car for me! ... they didn't blink, but
immediately worked on getting the car I now wanted. (That car has been great so far!)

These guys are so busy that they really don't have the bandwidth to offer great customer experience. My Prius won't start (had some sort of transaxle lock problem), so I had it towed to the dealership. After 3 days, they didn't even start working on the problem and I was stranded without a car. If I had a choice (my car would move) I wouldn't leave it with them any longer.

After so much help from Mo Naziry, his manager Ali, and the their finance partner Jude I was able to get the car of my dreams for the best possible price. Came in with a car that wouldn't start on Sunday. That got fixed up in a few hours and then added on new tires and a realignment by the end of the day. Mechanics found something wonky with the alignment system and they fixed that as part of the original quote. While working on it the staff were in communication with me explaining everything and even took the time to answer some questions completely unrelated to the vehicle issues I was having.

Amazing service and communication. Yes I paid more for tires and alignment than I would have elsewhere. That's a dealership. But in my case the communication and quality of service were worth the extra price.

Their used car department staff are all professional and good. I talked to Vinod, Shah, and Ali. They are ALL very good. My car shopping experience was great. They don't play tricky games as other dealers did. Especially Vinod is a really good sales person and helped a lot. Ask Vinod if you consider this dealer.

Oil leaks everywhere after they perform oil change on my 1 year old 2017 sienna. Very lousy job on the easiest task. I never seen this kind thing happens in my whole life. Customer service is also very rude and impatient, need to explain the same issue to 3 different people in order to make an appointment to dress this issue.

I had the pleasure of dealing with Socrates recently when I purchased a used Toyota Yaris SE. After speaking with him on the phone, I knew I wanted to deal with Socrates specifically as he was friendly, non-aggressive and was interested in knowing about me and my family which I really appreciated. . He is not your typical salesperson! He kept me informed, through emails and phone calls, about cars I inquired about and their status. Socrates is thorough and answers any and all questions that come up during the purchasing process. He went above and beyond to give me exceptional service that is uncomplicated and efficient as it can be. The same goes for the Finance Manager, Bart. I just can't say enough about the folks at Toyota Sunnyvale! I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for a car and a dealership that is outstanding!

- Good caring sales representative:

* Sabrina is professional. She answer all my questions of different features of the vehicles.
* Sabrina is very patient with me, and allow me to compare the price and features of different vehicle, before making my purchase. She prints me quotes after quotes of different variations of different vehicles. This is very helpful for customer to make the best informed decision.
* What really get me is that Sabrina seems to care about what customer want, rather than just making the sales. I like honest sales person.
* When the lot does not only carry the car in inventory. She even went out to find me the car that I really want from dealer nearby. Even though the price might not be as good as the dealer who has the car in inventory. I wouldn't mind paying more when someone spend that much time with me.

All and all, this is a good buying experience.

I'm so glad a friend recommended Toyota Sunnyvale. Their service was prompt, thorough, and highly personalized. James Tran went out of his way to make everything fast and convenient for us; plus the dealership gave us several upgrades and price reductions that we didn't even ask for! James really lived up to the statement on his business card: "Haggle Free - Hassle Free." I expect to buy all my cars here from now on!

Me and my family just got our first new car from Toyota Sunnyvale and it was by far the Best Buying Experience we ve ever had- and this was largely due to Dan Fuller!! He was not just personable but made the experience that we had expected to be difficult and frustrating fun and like dealing with a friend or family member. He was honest and not at all salesman-y but took the time give us the best possible deal he could and spent the time to explain everything about our new vehicle!! I would highly recommend him to my friends and family when they are looking for a new vehicle because that s how much I trust him and appreciate all he did for my family. I wish I could give him more than five stars and will absolutely be going back to him at this dealership for all future Toyota purchases!!

Our car couldn't start due to " Check Hybrid Syste...

Our car couldn't start due to " Check Hybrid System " few days ago. We then towed to Sunnyvale Toyota and had them diagnosed. We were told to do the recall service to replace some parts n ipm kit, but that they said we needed to replace the 12V battery for $415 plus tax. We told them we will fix it our own as we didn't press on time to need the car immediately. We called several Toyota part dept and the 12v battery runs at $199 and Sunnyvale service charges us about $415 for including installing the battery. What a ripoff to consumers! The next day, the service guy said if we don't let them change the battery, they couldn't run the program n must unplug the assembled part and thus charge us for incomplete service as well as the diagnostic charge of $170. We wonder if they could run the code with our dead battery but how come now they couldn't update the software with a temporary battery they had before. And today they said we can't bring battery to their lot to replace.
We did bring the attention to Toyota for compliant but seems it didn't help much. Today, the assistants manager Simon said they can do it for $285 plus tax and charge the diagnostic fee. We were told by another manager Louie that diagnostic is free if repair is under warranty and their story isn't consistent.
We will wait until Wed to talk to their supervisor since it's Sunday. Basically, we've no choice, no matter what, we've to either being forced either to replace their battery, or pay the extra fee for incomplete job or may be the diagnosed fees. We are truly upset by the service...To us, it's about the integrity of this dealership. Totally unhappy about the service at this time...worse come to worst, my husband and I will file an online complaint to automobile dept, BBB, and do whatever cost to hopefully let other people to be vigilant and stay away to avoid hectic...

I went to the dealership after several email exchanges. I showed them inventory from a local dealership in Stockton and was told that they could match the price and have the car by the next day.

It has been a few days, and only after calling and stopping in, was I told that they don't have the car and couldn't find one.

I showed them the inventory and was told the dealership was lying.

I am headed to Stockton to pick up my truck tomorrow. While I am not out any money, I wasted a ton of time and they lost my trust and business.

A Toyota RAV4 owner phoned my shop late in the day needing a battery installed. We are a single line specialty shop - not Toyota, decided to check with the dealer who likely will have the right battery and can install it for the caller. After 10 minutes of recorded boasting about the services, a person picked up the phone but seemed either uninterested or not able to check with a colleague to see if a battery and technician was still available that evening. Hopefully the Toyota owner resolved the problem.

We had amazing experience purchasing our Toyota Prius and for sure we would recommend the Sunnyvale dealership to all our friends who are interested in buying Toyota. Our sales representative, was extremely helpful throughout the whole process. He not only answered all our questions to the small detail but also accommodated all our needs (even provided variety of snacks for us and our young child). In this regard we felt very valued, welcomed and comfortable in the dealership. We love how he followed up with our initial inquiry and worked around our busy schedule in order to make an appointment in the time most appropriate for us. We also love the fact that he was able to work the best deal for our new car.
In addition, we had a similarly pleasant experience with Our finance manager, who prepared and submitted our financing application. He was quick, knowledgeable and courteous. He was also very kind to respond, through e-mail, to questions we had after the purchasing of the vehicle.

Good friendly service. I have been going to Toyota of Sunnyvale for 17 years, first to service my previa van, then to buy a sienna van, and now to service the sienna. They make keeping a Toyota running very easy. They have a shuttle to take you where you need to go after dropping off your car for service, although you have to get yourself back to pick it up on your own. Their service seems high quality and I kept my previa for 24 years, 250000 miles. Occasionally (rarely) they mess something up but they always correct it quickly with no charge when I bring it back. Drop off and pick up are quick and painless.

I have done only the standard free service that comes with a new car at this place. Since it is a new car, no issues were there. I once had an issue where there was some vibration, and they said that they fixed it using some bubble wraps under the dash board, but it continues to happen at 60% it's original frequency of occurrence.

They do not have a pick up service after the service is done; they have only a drop-off service for any location within five miles from the center.

Drop-off can be a pain sometimes if guys take 10-15 mins in between dropoffs for relaxing. I was once asked to go to another car at the last minute since the other customer needed to go to a far off city (??? - how - I don't understand). The next car guy kept putting things off. I just left for home on foot .

service/repair department is trustworthy, professional, but expensive compared to, say, Yarnell (independent). I don't know about TS's sales. Not all Toyota dealers are so good: Gardena and Torrance (both in Southern California) pushed unnecessary repairs and products for example locking hubcaps for my 83-year-old mother's 10-year-old Camry. They mistakenly kept the key so AAA couldn't repair her tire.

Bought a used 2012 Prius in 2017, and that experience was mostly ok (as well as can be expected when buying a used car) with the biggest downside that the dealership is simply unable to accept a bank transfer for paying for the car. It's either a loan for the car (that process seems well established) or a paper check.

However, service is lacking and - as far as we can tell - overpriced. The whole service department is optimized for throughput and getting through as many customers per day as possible, and not really for quality. In terms of price, one example point from this month is that replacing a 12V battery (a 5-10 minute job) costs 200$ in labor costs alone.
