Scumbag collection agency filled with dirtbags. Can't believe they are in a city as gang infested as the Windy City. I've never been in a gang before or been to Chicago but from what I hear you can't even look at someone in the eye there. They try to pulling their collection tactics on a sworn gang member there and... yeah let's just say everyone's collection accounts with these idiots might disappear.
Trying to come after me for my kid's medical bills when court order dictates mother is responsible. Everytime I said one word the person on the other line would talk over me.
Harris and Harris called to inform me that I had an outstanding debt with an organization and that they were to be the only ones contacted for payment. After 10 minutes on the phone with the representative and many questions later, he told me that they did not in fact own any of the debt and was just calling for collections purposes. My actual balance owed was less than 5 times of what they requested I pay them immediately, "because your driver's license and vehicle plates are being suspended," when in fact the organization I owed was happy to take payment directly and no suspension was in place.
Overall my experience with them was extremely unpleasant and I am still waiting for the legal documentation that they claim was sent via usps stating why I owed them. The only good thing is that they were happy to take me off the call list when I mentioned an attorney of my own.
I have called them back roughly once a month in response to a collection and have yet to receive an actual copy of the account statement for my personal records. Would love to pay my collection but will not pay on an account without a statement.
The absolute worst in terms of professionalism and character. Let me first say this is probably not a great job, the people they work with are not easy to deal with I am sure. When I have called them back they are rude and really unsure of how to do their job. I have paid a bill and told them so on multiple occasions. My outstanding balance was paid on the exact same day I received the bill. I paid it electronically online through an FSA account and did so whilst speaking to them. I have provided them not only with the cashed check but the transaction number from my bank and their bank and they still deny receiving payment. Unorganized, unprofessional and horrible institution.

A provider has the choice whether or not to bill Medi-cal. If they bill the patient that s going against the Medicaid policies. My mother has Medicare as primary and her secondary is medi-cal regardless if her Medicare paid 80% medi-cal needs to pay the remaining portion you CAN T bill the patient. My mom had a lapse of coverage with her medical which was fixed by a case worker and now shows the date of service is covered. We communicated this to Holy cross as well, but the customer service from this company was horrible the first person I spoke to was Ms. Robinson which lol hung up on me then called back and then let s talk about Kennith who told me well maybe medical should pay for it you do understand $9K was paid by primary ummm I don t care what was paid by primary the fact is my mother is covered 80/20 which is 100%

We contacted Holy Cross again and the guy was able to find the notes where the self-pay department showed my mom s coverage was updated by medi-cal they pulled this from the debt collector and escalated this to a lead.

While it is very unusual to write something positive about a collection firm I feel I must. Harris and Harris is a very honorable company and they proved that to me by keeping their word. I have a debt to satisfy state back taxes and this firm takes $300.00 a month from my account until it is paid in full. I lost my job at the end of July 2019 but kept making my payments until I called in early November 2019 and told my account representative Ms. Monet ( not sure of the spelling) that I would not be able to keep making the $300.00 a month payment until I got a new job. Ms. Monet told me no worries they can knock it down to $50.00 a month until I got a new job. When the 15th of November rolled around they still took the $300.00 out of my account even when they said they wold not. I called that day and Ms. Monet said it was a mistake and they would refund me $250.00 and not take anymore money out of my account until I got the check. I was frantic because I knew I really did not have a legal leg to stand on as the debt was mine and I made this agreement and I was not sure I believed them. I made numerous calls in November to Ms. Monet who told me the check was coming and this issue made it to her supervisor then his supervisor and then another supervisor. I was told the check was mailed on the 21st of November and started calling almost everyday in the beginning of December 2019. I stressed over this for weeks because I knew the post office does not take 10 days+ to send a letter a few zip codes away. Much to my surprise the check showed up on December 17th and when I looked at the check it was written on December 5th and mailed on the 13th. While it took awhile Harris and Harris and Ms. Monet were true to their word. This is a very honorable company and if you have a debt and Harris and Harris is the collector work with them as they will help you and not hound you if you own up to your debt. Thank You Ms. Monet you are the best!!!!
I ve had to call them at least 6 times now to see why they are calling. Every time they are looking for someone else. They say they will remove the number from their list but apparently that s not true. I ve blocked the number and every few months I get another voicemail from them. Frustrating.
Care nothing about working with you, only worried about getting every cent even though they only pay $.07 on every dollar. That's right people!
WORST collection company EVER!! Doesn't even deserve 1 star. Charges hundreds, thousands in fees & interest. Never sent explanation of fees OR inteerest, NEVER send itemtized statements. Didn't even get past the first woman to get my call transferred to the right dept. Calling for a debt on my credit score that I wasn't sure who it was from and she wouldn't transfer my call because she couldn't comprehend that. Guess you guys don't want to take my money that bad won't be calling back for a long time, if ever.

Sent me what appeared to be an offer to reduce court charge payments. No name addressed in the letter and charges are false. Shame many people seem to have fallen for these scams as the letter looked fairly legit. Yuck.

Extremely rude and unprofessional, first time I tried contacting them they actually never picked up the phone. I was on hold for over an hour, then I tried to find out why I owed money to a toll facility when their(toll site) website said I didn't owe anything and Harris and Harris said we don't know, but you pay it or it's going to hit your credit. So I said when was the violation made, they said pay it or it will hit your credit. They could not answer a single question I had.
They made a mistake and took two monthly payments out of my checking acct 4 days apart. Auto withdrawal but said they would have to refund by check which would take two weeks for me to get. Each time I asked to speak to a manager they were in a meeting. Horrible service.

If there was a box for "not eligible for a star", that's the box I would check. They play telephone games, when you answer, they hang up on you. They said they would wait for my SDI payment to pay a $75.00 ER copay fee, that was a complete misunderstanding and they didn't wait. Three days later they turned that one into the credit bureaus. I have gone back to the source of the debt and are paying them directly. They keep their word and everything is as it should be. AVOID THIS AGENCY AT ALL COSTS.
Rude people who apparently hate their job that wouldn't listen to anything I had to say and basically called me a liar on the phone. I guess if their goal is to be rude on the phone, they accomplished that. I called the electric company instead of calling them again and took care of it directly by talking to a very polite customer service rep.

The staff here are the WORST, they do not keep record of your calls and will continuously play games with you. They will do the absolute most they can to make sure they can take as much money as they can from you. I have been trying to prove my insurance covered some of my medical bills and every single time I call they say they have not received anything and I know that is not true. HATE HATE HATE these people.

Record your calls with them, their staff plays real childish games and are the most unhelpful people you ll find. Only offer what you can pay that day, and what you ll pay moving forward. They ll try to bully you into 3 payments, but REFUSE do not agree. They ll play games and try to frustrate you into hanging up without making a payment - insisting that 3 payments - even though you can t afford them, is the only option. This is why you record the call - to capture their unwillingness to work with you. Tell them you are recording and tell them that their being unwilling to work out something amicably. They would never push it into court if you have proof that they are harassing you and trying to imply that you must pay a payment that you cannot afford. Clearly state what you can pay, and what you ll be paying each month and they ll eventually have to accept it. Be aware they will play games and try to frustrate you into not making a payment so they can go for interest. Real bottom of the barrel people here - entry level and management... I d imagine real slime balls all the way to the top. It s funny that there is another law firm that goes after them for people..

I paid the full amount they claimed I owed for a previous medical visit. I paid it as soon as I got the letter. Now they sent me another letter asking for another payment on the same account!!! I have the receipt saying it was paid in full the first time. Why are they trying to charge me again? Of course no return phone call from them to explain it I filed a complaint with the BBB. Apparently many people have also. Can t choose zero stars or I would have gladly!

Supposedly they offer a 25% off total balance if you pay in full. I was never told this, ever! I would have took advantage of this. Tried to pay off my large amount in big chunks. Then I get a 430.00 off tax season settlement offer in the mail and paid a big lump of money days prior to getting letter so now they won't let me do the offer. They can offer 200 off, seriously! I wanted to pay the difference. Transferred to 5 diferrent people and placed on hold forever. Just ridiculous!

Got sent to this sad excuse of a company after a confusing mishap with insurance. (we thought we paid etc, etc.) We went to pay the bill and call but both methods would tell us that the zip code and account number did not match. We only have one zip code people and we put in the account number you gave us. Maybe try to get your act together and make it so people can actually pay if needed. The happy ending to the story is we just contacted our hospital directly and paid so we didn't have to use harris and harris the failure of debt collections inc.
Reported a properly disputed debt with supporting documentation for the disputed amount on my credit report. Thankfully, reporting agencies dropped the entry on my reports upon contestation.

When I called the company that had the original debt with, they said they would settle. The lady I spoke to on the phone was very rude and hateful. I have a debt showing up on my credit report from this company. I have called them once a month asking telling them I have never received a paper bill from them in the mail. I gave them my updated address and telling them they could send me a paper bill in the mail. I have yet to receive one. If I owe money, I would like to pay it off but not going to do so until I receive a paper copy. Thanks to them my credit could be better but they refuse to send me a bill. Frustrating! Your job can't be that hard!

Lee Hudson was nothing but helpful to me. I had a $150 balance that I paid a year ago and he helped get that off my record. He was also very professional. The other representatives were not that helpful.
People work here are specially trained to be rude. They got a case for LA fire dept. against one of my family member which is totally not our fault. It was LA fire dept. fault which is making us to suffer. When I tried to explain the situation to the lady who answered my call, she was just so ignorant and rude. she threatened that if we don't pay then she will report it to the credit and then hung up the phone. Never dealt with such unprofessionalism in my life. Rep called me regarding my daughters information. She asked for my date of birth and info which was irrelevant. After giving my info, she gave me the wrong name of my daughter. When I informed her of the error, rep stated with a very nasty and condescending tone uh that is your child ma am. As if I don t know the name of my own child. After telling me the reasoning for the call after getting through the nasty attitude, I immediately asked to speak to a manager due to this rep not understanding the meaning of being professional and conducting a normal conversation on the phone l, especially when it comes to doing business. This company really needs to focus on training properly and understand that bully tactics will get you nowhere.

Harris & Harris have been not helpful in anyway. Was literally yelled at by someone that stated "if you want to ruin your credit that's up to you" Seriously? I'm doing everything I'm supposed to be doing. I've had the same insurance for 8 years and have NEVER had to pay for this type of service, obviously something is wrong. My insurance confirmed it was a mix up and is sending all the proof I need in the mail. I was calling to update H&H on the situation and they were rude and terrible trying to scare me into paying.

I dont know how this company got my boyfriends home number but they are calling his house non stop. His 79yr old grandmother keeps telling them I dont live there and cannot be reached at the number. They dont listen and keep calling her multipal times a day causing her stress and anxiety. I called them to let them know they cannot be calling that number, and the lady told me "then I should have paid my bill".
I gave them my number and they have never called to resolve anything. They won't send me anything by a mail indicating that I even have a bill. They said it's due to a parking ticket that was obtained in 2013 in a city that I don't even go to, for a vehicle I don't even own anymore and haven't owned and well over 5 years.
This place has called my phone number a total of 49 times in 2 months asking for a person I DO NOT KNOW! Obviously they re idiots who can t grasp the concept, or reality that the phone number I ve only had for 4 months doesn t belong to the person they think it does. They have called me from over 20 different numbers, and just a little while ago I received 3 calls in a row because obviously the first 2 responses of No, you have the wrong number , weren t good enough. I don t have any outstanding bills, so I don t know why these people seem to think I am the person they need. Maybe do your homework Harris & Harris. I too am well versed in the law and I can guarantee that what you are currently doing falls into the realm of harassment. Continuing to call me though you have been informed on numerous occasions that the person you seek is not at my phone number, I don t know them, nor will you ever find them here is nothing more than harassment and abuse at this point. I will not only be filing complaints in Indiana, but Illinois as well since you are too dense to understand that I owe you nothing!
I wish I could give them zero stars. Rude and disrespectful. I paid my Chicago parking tickets, which they would not provide a receipt I get a notice from Chicago revenue stating the tickets unpaid tickets, or which I paid. Now the sum is over 900.00. I have contacted Chicago Revenue with this info and hope I don't booted while figuring this out.

This company seems very suspicious. I received a letter a couple months ago saying I owed money for a hospital bill that I have no recollection of every receiving and also was suspicious because they had my married name for the date of service even though I was not married at the time, so it should have had my maiden name on it. Also, I know for a fact I was not at the hospital for the date of service they were claiming (two red flags). I sent them a certified letter stating they had to prove their claims that I owed them this money or I would file a complaint to the Illinois State Attorney's office and Federal Trade Commission. I have not heard anything from them. Recently, my husband received something from this company also. Again, the dates of service are suspicious, as we do not remember ever going to that facility they are claiming on those dates. All seems very fishy to me. Again, sent a certified letter to prove their claims. We will wait and see. I highly doubt we will hear back. Anyone that receives a collection letter from these people has every right to send a letter (I recommend certified) stating they need to prove their claims that money is owed and if not, they will be reported to the above places I mentioned. If they do not comply with this, they cannot collect the money. A company cannot just send a letter claiming you owe money with no proof. This company is highly suspicious for fraud! I will wait a few more weeks to hear something and then I'm reporting them!

They work with Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights Illinois. They attempted to collect a debt from a minor child of mine. They didn t care when I notified them they just said pay the bill and it will go away. Knowing she was a minor they should have stopped the attempt and sent back to hospital.
For some reason these people are the worst people to speak to ever. Every time I speak to anyone from this company I think maybe this employee will be polite or educated but no. Completely rude. I pay monthly without a job yet they continue to report to my credit as not paid and refuse to look into the matter. This can't be a real law office.

If you're receiving calls from this collection agency and you know you don't owe anything, the very first thing you should do is file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau stating that you're receiving robocalls about debts you don't owe and request that your name be placed on their internal do not call list.
Sent me fake collection letters for years over unpaid tickets that were paid a decade ago. No, they're not legit. The state has no record of unpaid tickets that they're threatening me over.
I called this morning (October 5 2020 at 9:38am) with some questions about a balance that I already resolved. The lady who answered my call was not professional, ethical and seemed like had an authority and anger management issues..Every time I tried to explain the reason for my call she interrupted me with no empathy at all, she even took the liberty of telling me "Stop, talking over me" with a very angry tone when she was the one interrupting me to cut me off the phone. At the end of the call she left me hanging..I said thank you but the only thing I heard back was the hang up tone. I wish they do something about this. That lady needs help.
