While it is very unusual to write something positive about a collection firm I feel I must. Harris and Harris is a very honorable company and they proved that to me by keeping their word. I have a debt to satisfy state back taxes and this firm takes $300.00 a month from my account until it is paid in full. I lost my job at the end of July 2019 but kept making my payments until I called in early November 2019 and told my account representative Ms. Monet ( not sure of the spelling) that I would not be able to keep making the $300.00 a month payment until I got a new job. Ms. Monet told me no worries they can knock it down to $50.00 a month until I got a new job. When the 15th of November rolled around they still took the $300.00 out of my account even when they said they wold not. I called that day and Ms. Monet said it was a mistake and they would refund me $250.00 and not take anymore money out of my account until I got the check. I was frantic because I knew I really did not have a legal leg to stand on as the debt was mine and I made this agreement and I was not sure I believed them. I made numerous calls in November to Ms. Monet who told me the check was coming and this issue made it to her supervisor then his supervisor and then another supervisor. I was told the check was mailed on the 21st of November and started calling almost everyday in the beginning of December 2019. I stressed over this for weeks because I knew the post office does not take 10 days+ to send a letter a few zip codes away. Much to my surprise the check showed up on December 17th and when I looked at the check it was written on December 5th and mailed on the 13th. While it took awhile Harris and Harris and Ms. Monet were true to their word. This is a very honorable company and if you have a debt and Harris and Harris is the collector work with them as they will help you and not hound you if you own up to your debt.
