Had Genz Ryan out to look at the work needed to connect our home to city water. The service tech was curteous and professional but the quotes were absolutely insane. We had a different plumber come out and quote the same work for $2,000 less - $2,800 vs $750. I'm sure they do good work but there's no way it's worth the 400% price mark up. That also doesn't include the $99 they charge just to come out and look at the work. I recommend seeking out other quotes before going with Genz Ryan.

Needed garbage disposal fixed. Shows up and does a bunch of things I didn't ask for then after 45 minutes quotes me at insane prices. One option is over $4,000 for things I made clear I absolutely did not want. The cheapest option was still well over double any other quote without a breakdown of why it costed so much. $99 service fee later I'm out money and time with no garbage disposal. Absolutely disgusting.

We purchased our furnace from Genz-Ryan in 2007 and have had little to no issues. When we turned it on this fall, it wasn't working properly. Loren from Genz-Ryan came out on a Friday afternoon to take a look. It was an unusual code and he spent a good amount of time testing and diagnosing, including calling the manufacturer. It was determined that either the mother board went bad, or there was an outside electrical issue happening with our house. He helped us schedule an appointment with an electrician for Monday. Not even 30 minutes after he left our house on Friday, he called me and said that they had the part and "let's try this first and see if it works before we do the expense of an electrician." Loren truly went "above and beyond" as he then asked if it was OK if he came out on Saturday to do the repair (his day off). Ta da...it worked!

I can't say "thank you" enough to Loren (and his family) for going the extra mile with customer service to come out on his weekend, saving us time and money. Great guy! Great Work! Great Company!

Richie was our tech who came by to discuss a concern I had about possibly replacing our 16 year old furnace and AC. We hadn't had any issues with either, but in our previous house, we had to replace a furnace that was younger than that. Turns out, Richie serviced the furnace at our previous house and during a regular maintenance visit in 2016, discovered an alarmingly high CO level due to a cracked heat exchanger! He literally saved our lives then, as we did not have a working carbon monoxide detector! Back then he shut our furnace off (by law) and gave us space heaters to get through the night and he and another guy installed a new furnace the next day.
This time he just gave us options and generally reassured me that the furnace and AC are in good working order and there really is no reason to replace at this time, but when it does come time for that, that we should call Genz Ryan first. I really appreciate his honest assessment of our situation. We are long time maintenance plan members with Genz-Ryan, and YES, your company will always be our first call, whether it's for maintenance or replacement.

Tyler was very well informed,professional in his presentation and very personal in response to our questions. He was very careful, neat and clean moving around the house. We called Genz - Ryan to get a tune up on our furnace and air conditioner and after reviewing our equipment and it s age we decided it would make sense to replace with new. Tyler was very helpful in explaining the best options that would serve us well in the future. We give him a 5 star recommendation and you need to offer him a raise.

Genz-Ryan came to my house to give me quote for a new central a/c. I felt like the tech was pressuring me into making a quick decision. I told him I'd have to talk to my husband about everything and he said, "What time will he be home?" Then, his cheapest quote was for $20,000, literally twice as much as the next most expensive quote (and I got 6 quotes). And, they wouldn't replace the unit until October because it's so hot in our attic in July. Then, he charged me $99 at the end just for the quote. When I called to set up the appointment nobody said anything about it costing money. We did not go with them. But, just getting a quote was a really bad experience.

We had extensive plumbing work done, including replacement of many fixtures and a couple of toilets. In addition, we got new smoke/carbon monoxide detectors placed, and a new water softener installed. Great work, helpful and polite technicians and reps, and good mask use. Very pleased all around.

It is Christmas day and the pump in our Sump Pump fails at 8 am so we cant use any water in the house. I called Genz Ryan (who installed the pump system) and they called back and sent Bill B. Not only was he extraordinarily friendly and competent, but he went a thousand miles to track down a new pump (ON CHRiSTMAS) and drove all the way to Plymouth from Mpls and back and then installed it - so by 4 we were up and running again. Unbelievable is all I can say. Great guy.

I had water leaking in my dining room, I called another plumbing company first, but they did not find the source of the leak. I called a heating (hvac) professional but they also did not find the source of the leak. I had no idea what to do next? I know that Genz-Ryan installed the furnace and water heaters in the house when it was built, and also they service BOTH plumbing and heating. I have Genz-Ryan stickers on my utilities, so I decided to call to see if they could find the source of the leak. Noah was my hero and found the source of the leak!!! I have a second floor utility room, my water heater was leaking but I did not know because the drip tray under the water heater was not collecting the water, there was a small crack that caused the water to leak into the floor, then through the ceiling in my dining room. Not only did Noah find where the leak in my ceiling was coming from but he also answered ALL of my questions. It would have been cheaper if I just called Genz-Ryan in the first place. I have already told my family and friends about the great service I received from Genz-Ryan and I am sure they will use them in the future!!

My whole experience has been great so far. The scheduler was friendly and called me the day of my appointment to let me know I was the next stop, and that the technician would call about 15-30 minutes ahead of arriving . She also asked if there was anything I was concerned about relating to my appointment!! Matt K. was my technician. He was punctual, professional, very easy to talk with, and knowledgeable. He provided 6 different options and pricing on the spot!!

There is not a whole lot of follow through. Thay did one job on my hous and sent a guy that didn't do HVAC. Then the next guy came to do the job late. I called them for my house again. Thay sent a guy that tried to charge me triple. Then told me I had to give him $100. For showing up. I tried them one more time to help me with one of my customers. That just turned out to be a joke. No call back 3 or 4 calls later I get ahold of a guy in the office that admitted thay failed. I have have used 3 other companies since then night and day difference. Other companies have been more cost effective, and better follow though. Only reason for 2 star was thay finished 1 job.

AC coil broke inside our furnace, and leaked water all over, eventually shorting out our blower motor, which we had replaced 5 months before. Gave us some credit towards a full replacement. Tech and install guys were both awesome.

Update: New appointment - Zac Benson came out in a hurry on 07/02/2020. The cottonwood trees are heavy here and presented problems we were unaware of. I am on the road working and they helped my wife get the unit running again when the inside temps reached 80+ degrees. The whole team does a great job and exceptional service during frustrated times like this. They also help you become aware of potential easy fixes to watch out for. Zac was very polite and understanding, he stayed and waited for a delivery guy for a couple hours to bring a part out for us and made sure it was fixed the same day. Instead of coming out the next day! Could not of asked for better service today. Thanks Zac!

The technician we had was very knowledgeable. We were using a Groupon tune-up for our AC, but also suspected more work might need to be done due to some problems we noticed a few weeks prior to the service visit. Indeed there was one part that needed to be replaced and another that was on its way out. Nick talked us through the options and answered questions we had. Though it may have been cheaper to go somewhere else for the work that was needed it was nice he could do it right then rather than having to research and line-up another company to come or scheduling another appointment with Genz-Ryan.

Dan Heinecke was early to the appointment fully explained everything that needed to be done to repair my water system and provided me with an upfront quote. I expected the repair would take several hours but Dan was done with the repair in what I consider record time. The price was fair and Dan was professional and personable.
I would 100% recommend Dan and the whole Genz-Ryan team with any plumbing or systems repairs. I am very happy and satisfied with the service received.

We had a hot water heater installed by Lance McChristian of Genz-Ryan Plumbing and Heating. I have to say it was one of the best experiences I've ever had as a customer. Our landlord was trying to decide whether to replace parts to an older hot water heater, or replace the entire unit. Lance was the epitome of a good brand ambassador. He was very polite, patient and knowledgeable in working with both our landlord and my wife and I. He especially made certain we felt informed and comfortable with the options available. In addition, he went above and beyond in educating us - cleaning up after his work and then some! I urge anyone seeking a good Plumbing, Heating and Cooling contractor to consider Genz-Ryan.

I returned from vacation and the temperature in my home was 89. I called and got a 'floating' appointment. I didn't want to wait for a scheduled appointment, but they were able to get me in the next day but couldn't give me an exact time. Jeremey R. was the service technician. He found the problem quickly and gave me several options along with explanations that I could understand. He fixed the problem promptly. He was extremely courteous. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Steve M and Alex came out to check on our furnace. Unfortunately they had to give bad news and shut our furnace down because it was unsafe to operate according to law. But they were very professional and showed me everything they were doing, what was causing the failures, why it couldn t be left running, and what my options were. We opted to buy a new furnace, and they found us a same day install and offered to bring out space heaters to keep our home to temp until the install was complete.

My preschooler was home while they were checking it out, and they interacted with her so well and had her help through the entire process. She had a blast holding the flashlight and asked hundreds of questions and they answered them all for her. This is one of the reasons we continue to use Genz Ryan is their amazing customer service. They ve always done great work, been honest, answered all my questions, and them including my extremely inquisitive child with the whole thing really made her day and I place a lot of value in that.

Scheduled in October to have a "plumber" come out today from 0800-1200 time frame , at 0934 hrs I called to get an on the ETA for the plumber, receptionist stated that we were cancelled because I did not answer my phone. (My cell indicated no incoming calls or missed calls). They called another cell we had listed but they left no message, based on that Genz-Ryan decided to cancel the appointment. I wish they would have made a better effort in reaching us or just take some ownership that they failed to do so.
They need to work on their communication skills, based on this negative interaction we decided to cancel all together for the day and go with another company. Past experiences with Genz-Ryan have always gone very well.

Update: Email sent the next day response from GR states the manager has been trying to reach me and left a message? There's no evidence of that on my cell phone.

Contacted Genz-Ryan Plumbing due to a pipe leak and Alex Breuer was the plumber sent out. I can t express how much I appreciate his professionalism and honesty. Alex went way & above provided quality service, he throughly explained & went over all required repairs. Most importantly he never made me feel pressured or uncomfortable. He was very approachable & knowledge. Genz-Ryan is truly lucky to have an employee like Alex representing them. I would highly recommend this company & Alex.

We had an electrical problem that couldn't be found and fixed. The repair Technician left without doing anything and charged us....I was upset and started posting negative reviews. What I should have done was contact Jeff the Customer Service Manager first. After I did talk with Jeff, he explained what happened and refunded the full amount. We were not charged for work not done. Thank you for this excellent customer service. I feel heard and appreciated as a customer!

Never really got a good explanation of what they did for my checkup. My Wife was given 3 options to fix the "faults" in our system. The most expensive was $6000.00.
Will not be calling/using them again.

Worked with Natalie and Noah, CS Mgr and Service Rep to correct/resolve issues. I signed up for a maintenance contract with GR. Happy again.

Never done business with this company but got a card in the mail offering a $190 discount on a normal $249 charge for a water heater flush and safety inspection. This seems like an outrageous charge for someone to come and open a valve to drain/flush some of the water from the appliance. I wouldn't pay $59, much less their full charge of $249.

He was very honest in assessing our plumbing issue and did not pressure us for any additional unnecessary service. He was very good at sharing his knowledge of plumbing and heating complications and advised as to possible future maintenance procedures. So, competence combined with honesty always guarantees future calls for his service.

Alex the plumber was wonderful. Anyone I have ever had at my home from Genz Ryan has been great to deal with. And over the past couple of years they have been here a lot. My home hit the 20 year old mark and Genz Ryan has replaced my furnace, A/C, and water heater. I highly recommend. They may be a bit more expensive, but they are trustworthy and reliable.

Great service right from the start with GenzRyan, starting off with meeting Matt, good dude! Cody came out at 7 this morning to start the AC , furnace install. New water heater gets put in this Friday. Very happy so far with GenzRyan at this point. Employees count folks. I have to hold back a bit on this ,water heater was installed today and an additional $1100 charge was added to the original loan. I was told that the amount I was given covered any complications. I guess not. Great employee's though. And nice work!

If anyone is contemplating purchasing a system from Genz-Ryan, please read my review so you can have a better understanding about the level of service provided by this company. Here is my Genz-Ryan Story.

In July 2014 we dropped $10k to purchase a new 'state-of-the-art' Lennox furnace and AC system as a replacement for the system in our existing house.

Two years later (I think), the AC system broke down during the middle of summer, and required a full recharge.

Two winters ago (I think), the furnace wasnt heating properly during the middle of the winter. I made a service call, and they said there was no problem. So I asked him to put his hand by the heat register to feel the airflow while the furnace was 'running', and he told me that was normal. I asked if it typically takes more than one hour during -5 degree weather to raise the temperature in the house by one degree, and he said YES! He told me that the system was designed for 'comfort', which is why the airflow settings are so low.

I had the same problem twice with the AC during two separate summers, and when they came out, they said that the airflow is so low because the system is designed for 'comfort'. During summer, it continues to be 10-12 degrees warmer upstairs vs downstairs.

This past winter, I noticed that the house wasnt humidifying. It took two separate service calls to fix that problem. By the time it was fixed, I asked what was wrong. They said they werent sure. They said that the system somehow forgot that it had a humidifier, so they had to re-register the humidifier settings within the thermostat.

Then yesterday (during early summer), I walk down into the basement to find the floor covered in water! It didnt take long for me to realize that the water pump attached to the system wasnt working (the pump that removes all of the water from the AC/dehumidifier system).

This happened three months after I had just had my basement perimeter torn up for two weeks to waterproof the entire area. I guess I clearly didnt contemplate the potential of a flooded basement from a water leak in my new Genz-Ryan 'state-of-the-art' furnace/AC system. I should have known better.

I called the customer service line, and immediately asked to speak to a supervisor. The person on the phone wanted to find out what the problem was first before he transferred me, and so I told him. He then told me that he was a supervisor (his name was Kareem I think). I told him what the problem was, and I again asked if I could just return the system, get my money back, and agree to just move on and remove me from my misery. Of course he denied that request. He asked if he could send someone over to the house right away, and I told him I couldnt get away from work, and so I asked him if someone could come around 5 yesterday afternoon. He said he would call me back. He then told me the GFCI outlet that the pump was plugged into was probably tripped, but he said he would still call back tat day to follow-up on that problem, and look into whether they would repair the water damage to my house. When I got home, sure enough, the outlet was the problem, but the outlet wont reset itself, because something is clearly wrong in the electrical circuitry. I never did receive that call-back that he promised me, so I called at 5:30 yesterday afternoon to speak with someone, and after holding for a while, it put me into a voicemail, where I sternly asked for a call-back.

At the time I am writing this review, I have still not received a call-back.

I will be spending the weekend trying to remove all of the water from the basement, and assess the damage to the floor and walls.

Now, I understand that equipment can break down. Those things happen, and sometimes that is not anybody's fault. But it is really hard to forgive the lack of follow-up and poor customer service. Those things are entirely preventable.

At this point, I think I just have to cut my losses, and just find another company that can provide me with different equipment, and move on. How sad though...what a waste of $10,000.00.

Kelsey did a wonderful job! He did a great job explaining all our options with order of importance. He walked through the house and even made extra recommendations based off of safety concerns which was very much appreciated and made us feel at ease with our decisions to add extra services. We had all our outlets replaced, new connections to the fuse box, new fire/carbon monoxide detectors installed, and a new doorbell installed. We have an older townhouse so anything with electrical is always a concern with the thought of fires so all his information and knowledge really made us feel good. I would definitely use genz-ryan again and I would ask for kelsey for any future home needs.

I called for an appointment on the hottest day of the year, and they were able to get someone out the next day. The dispatch person kept in touch with me to let me know when I could expect the technician (Noah) to arrive. Noah was helpful, thorough, informative and gave us several options. Impressive team!

Today, Jeff came out to do the installation. Upon arrival, he explained the entire process, who does what and when, when he expected to be finished. The new unit looks great, works well, and the entire team - from appointment setup, to dispatch, through installation - were great to work with. Thank you!
