The nice thing with eBay is you can find all kinds of stuff in locations all over the planet. There was a time when you could buy stuff and not have to pay sales tax. Nowadays, they charge tax. Delivery time of items varies, depending on location and how the seller operates.
The problem with eBay is, some people renege and it does not appear there are any consequences for such behavior. I have been screwed over as a seller and also as a buyer. I sold a pair of jeans and the buyer did not pay, so that was a waste of time and effort. I purchased some nitrile, disposable gloves and the seller never shipper them. A week after they were scheduled to arrive, I contacted the seller and asked where they were. The seller said they were sold out and that I would get a refund. The refund went through a few days later, So I went weeks, waiting for an item I paid for, only to be back at square one.
I have tried to deal with customer service in the past, but it is too much effort for too few results.
It is really too bad because they really had something good going on for a while...

Through illegal unauthorized access of accounts by staff, eBay has engaged in the collection of random fees in accounts by having FULL trespass access to via staff, with no recourse by account holders. These violations are a trespass upon computer accounts through staff acknowledgement, having full access to modify seller/buyer accounts. Documentations will be forthcoming to all Governing bodies capable of enforcement and a formal lawful inquiry. Including allowing concerted activities cyber attacks on seller reviews on seller platforms.

Ebay is horrible to do business with. It is not even half way fair to sellers. Their customer service is worst than any company I have dealt with. Even though you have proof that the buyers cheated you, they will not do anything to help. Even though you have email conversations with the buyer, they will not do anything to protect the seller. Even though the buyer made a fake offer and ended your auction and wasted your time and money, they will not do anything to help the seller. Also, the USA office doesn't have phones. Yep, it's true they are so rich, they decided that they don't need to talk to their customers. So, don't bother with Ebay, there are other options out there now to buy and sell.

I agree with the reviews here. Selling on eBay is risky. Look for a different avenue to sell your stuff, craigslist, facebook, etc. If there is any conflict after the eBay sale, eBay will side with the buyer and screw the seller.

Ebay charges you a massive commission, despite them doing little more than hosting a webpage. They provide no liability protection or custom service. Yet, it takes months to get paid. Despite my buyers transferring the money instantly and me having delivered my product weeks ago, it will be two months before I receive the money. Note: ebay forces sellers to use tracking numbers when they ship products, and put them in within 24 hours, so you have to lose money on shipping, yet their policy is classifying you in a payment period, for me I have to wait until the last day of the month despite having sold my product almost two weeks ago. Then I have to wait "7 business days for the funds to be released" which just means two weeks before they transfer it to paypal. Which will then take paypal another few days to process. Then once it goes through, I will have to transfer it from paypal to my account, which will take another 3-7 business days. Who knows if I will ever actually get paid. What a bunch of BS. Ebay deserves to go bankrupt.

Very Biased and CONTRADICTING Policies that are written to benefit buyers including those who don't pay and are allowed to leave negative feedback without good cause or PROOF of reason. Bidding & Buying Policy States "If you win an auction you must pay because you entered in to a binding contract" but then it goes on to give examples of how to cancel or retract bids. Policy Also Says if you don't want to pay "CONTACT THE SELLER" but gives an option to bypass the seller and go through ebay to send a cancel request. When a seller refuses to cancel as I did on June 1, 2017 forcing buyer to pay as per EBAY'S agreement the buyer then left negative feedback claiming they received counterfeit item WITHOUT offering any proof what so ever and never requesting a return or refund for an alleged fake. I brought up my concerns NUMEROUS times about this buyer and got the old worn out Ebay MOST always sides with buyers on feedback and DENIES sellers the right to leave negative feedback which seems to me like a Freedom of Speech issue. There are many more examples of their BIASED AND CONTRADICTING POLICIES that I, as an ebay seller for over 16 years feel the need for an investigation along the lines of UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES. One of the reasons they continue to protect troublesome NON PAYING buyers is for advertising purposes. The more traffic (people) searching their site they can show to potential advertisers the more ads get sold at the EXPENSE of us, the sellers WHO pay FEES and made them what they are today. Someone needs to get up off of it and investigate these internet giants that took over the free and fair market place with their BIASED AND CONTRADICTING POLICIES simply because "There was no Internet Regulation. I have been a buyer on EBAY since 2003.I have bought thousands of dollars from Sellers I have become to trust.
This said I have bought over 15 CHANEL items in the last couple of months and only four were found to be Authentic that were listed as Authenticate. I have each piece authenticated which is an additional $15.Money well spent for peace of mind!!
One particular CHANEL earring from India I knew right away was fake with the cost being $240 immediately opened a case with EBAY
then I contacted seller sent earrings back it cost $25.50!!!
Since March 2nd the earrings have been sitting in customs in India.I have tried numerous occasions to settle with seller,and contacted EBAY!!
This last conversation with EBAY stated I did not have them step in soon enough therefore the case was closed. I went back to my messages on EBAY on February 28th I opened the case.Three days later I asked EBAY to step in.I am extremely disappointed with EBAY as they have failed themselves on their own policies and because of this I am out of $265 .Will it stop me from shopping on EBAY No,but I am more aware. I don t believe EBAY has seller/buyer in their best interest at the end of the day it s about $$$$$

I am writing a review from the perspective of a "Casual Seller". I sold an item on Friday, May 31. The buyer paid within minutes of the auction closing. I sold this item to pay for an anniversary gift for my husband. Our anniversary is in 2 days. eBay is withholding my sales funds because I have not sold anything in the past 90 days. I contacted eBay customer service and asked them to please release the funds as I already shipped the item and sold it so I could purchase an anniversary gift for my husband. Further, I explained that their policy to withhold funds was not explained to me when I placed my item for sale on their site. Customer Service indicated that this is a policy they put in place to protect buyers from eBay sellers who do not ship items. I asked them why they are implementing such a policy against sellers with perfect ratings (such as myself). They stated that it is to be "fair" to all "casual sellers". I explained that this policy does not provide me any incentive to sell items with their service moving forward. I asked them why they don't at least release enough funds to cover postage for items and why they don't release at least 50% of the sales amount. Customer Service had no response. I will never sell with eBay again. I will sell my items through Facebook Marketplace. There is no reason for eBay to punish its good sellers because of a few rotten apples. I asked Customer Service why I should keep selling with them when they hijack my sales funds and was given a lame answer that eBay protects sellers and buyers. I asked her to demonstrate that commitment to sellers by releasing 50% of my sales funds. She declined. Shame on you, eBay. Shame on you!

I purchased an item specifically coming from California. The item was not to description and would not fit so I asked to refund it. The seller started messaging back and forth asking for pictures and this and that before he ll do anything to it. After clicking the return it gave me a date where I can request Ebay to step in.

Well a day before that date, the seller accepted my return and provides me with an address to China written in Chinese.

The loophole is for sellers benefit because my communication button or reply button has now faded so I cannot contact him anymore for any reason. Ebay is also out of it because there s no further option to escalate my matter.

Looks like I m screwed out with a bad product which I cannot return. Even if I had an address written in English, I d still have to pay an exorbitant shipping back.

I ve been a member since 1999. Thanks Ebay but Amazon started after you and has gone 100x while your stock has only Tripled in the last 2 decades.

LONG time seller of nearly 20 years. Ebay's leaders apparently lost touch with buyers and sellers. They have essentially propelled Amazon, launched Etsy and made CraigsList soar with their customer service attitude. Employees talk down to customers, they can freeze accounts, promises from a CSR can be overturned by the next representative and one is required to allocate copious amounts of time to calling Ebay over and over even when listing as-is items when people open claims. For a platform that I once loved, it want slowly downhill and the platform has lost appeal. I operate a large facility that I purchased for Ebay and associated sales and I currently do little lases on Ebay as we avoid it as the venue of last resort and focus on different revenues streams because dealing with Ebay is an exercise in futility dealing with with Ebay's representatives. If they closed their doors tomorrow, few would shed a tear as Ebay brought this on themselves.

Item I got was not as described as it didn't portrait the right size. Also, customer service is non existent as when I requested a full refund I was not treated as a long time customer from Ebay. I currently have 6 weeks or time and 10+ hours of phone time invested trying to resolve a listing issue that they have created not only for me, but many other automotive part sellers. It is a total joke, I have had 6 different manager or teams leads swear they would call me back or email me, but none ever have. They have a culture of no responsibility and they love it. They will not give out any method for you to contact them. I have asked for email addresses, phone number, employee id, but they give nothing but a Case number. If you call back with that case number they make a BS claim that they cannot forward calls internally due to phone system limitations. Somehow when you ask for a manager or team lead then magically the phones can do that. Really, thanks for trying to sell stupid, but I am not buying. This company is the worst company for customer service in the entire country. I cannot even begin to tell you about all of the very bizarre stories of dealing with them. I have spent as much as 3 hours waiting for someone to answer my calls. My phone ran out of minutes last time while I was waiting for them to answer my call after 2 hours. My issues are building up (I currently have four issues that I need assistance with) and I cannot even get somebody on the phone. I cannot email them. I liked being a buyer and loved being able to find things on eBay, but now that I've sold a few things, very dissatisfied with their rogue policies. Used to be good to their sellers and would protect them from scammers now they don't care about sellers their money or their business they keep raising the fees to sell on their website forcing more money out of you every month and doing less to protect you from scammers I have had to refund people so many times without getting my item back it's not even funny. Buyers don't even have to show proof anymore they can literally send you back an empty box when accepting the return and eBay will say they can't prove the buyer did anything wrong. The buyer can claim their item is broken whenever they want or claim it's not what they ordered and they don't even have to prove it. I pay over $2,000 a year in fees and they don't do anything for me to protect me...

Update just got an email from a buyer saying they want to return it cassette tape immediately once they got it saying they don't have anything to play the cassette tape on and can't afford to buy anything to play this cassette so now they don't want it anymore and want their money back. All of you people on here that buy stuff you guys take zero responsibility for your actions I see so many dumb reviews about you guys buying stuff and then never getting them placing all of the blame on the seller like we are responsible for making sure the package actually makes it to your door all we are responsible for is that gets to the post office if your post office is incapable of delivering it or somebody comes to your front door and steals it why is it not your fault for not being there why is it our fault? Especially if you didn't specify you have thieves in your neighborhood and the delivery boy is dumb enough to leave it on your door.

Again take responsibility for your actions stop blaming everybody else for your problems in life. This company has terrible policies that are not customer friendly. they are only looking to make a profit and amazon and other more customer centric companies will take over bay's users eventually.

I sold a phone to a someone and shipped it them. they said they didn't receive it so they opened an case against me. this happened over the holidays and ebay's policies said that since i wasn't able to provide a tracking number in time (3 short days!) that they sided with the buyer. keep in mind this was over the holidays and i was traveling twice in december. well after searching around, i found the tracking number and proved that i shipped the item and that they even signed for it from the ups tracking. additionally, this user was a fraudulent buyer. even after all of this, eBay says that i owe them for the payout they made to the fraudulent buyer and said that their policy states that since i didnt provide the tracking number in time, it was too little too late.

sellers beware. take your business to amazon or craigslist to sell things. i was a loyal eBay user for many years with a 100% account approval rating, but they didn't care. like i said, they don't care about their customers and only care about making money. this will burn them eventually.

The platform of chaos. If you would like to sell items try a different platform. Don't fall for their promises of safety. This platform everything but safe. They rip you off for nearly 15% (10% ebay and 5% paypal) once item sells and besides that most transactions on this platform are people trying to rip you off. I sold a fairly expensive item on this platform foolishly putting my trust into company. Buyer claimed that item which was in like new condition is defective. Despite not having a return policy eBay forced me into paying for return. When I received an item back it had back cover, screws missing. Certain parts were broken.
I contacted eBay right away and to my surprise they informed me that they'll be still issuing the refund to the buyer and that if I want to solve the issue myself I can contact the buyer and talk to them!
eBay despite having policy that buyer should send the item in condition they received the item don't honor their policy!

The begining of ebay was great, leter, nothing that a money making- for ebay only. They made it hard for small people and small companies. Who knows how much ebay make, recently they are dislocated the company in small European countries so it is not possible to see how much they really make, anyway we will find other solution soon, ebay is NOT forever.

Frequent changes to company policy to cover up bad behavior. This is well documented and they've lost recently in court very badly due to bad practices. I contacted the BBB to write up a report, the BBB has a senior ebay official on their board. NOTHING will be done about any complaint, only court can get them to act honestly.

eBay used to be this shining new thing in ecommerce. 20 years later, eBay has become a scam. The customer "service" is the worst I have experienced with any business, either retailing or otherwise. They blatantly ignored all the information that PROVES the seller was a fraud and didn't ship the product to my address, and refused to refund my purchase.

If I could give them a zero I would, I have been a Ebay customer since 2003 and I called to get a refund today after being on the phone for 3 hours. After getting transferred from supervisor to supervisor, I had the call get hung up on me. It seems that Ebay does not care about their customers and is willing to do nothing about it. Their customer support team is garbage. They should use Amazon as a business model if they really care about their customers. I am a very patient customer but there is a limit to how you treat your customers.

They keep saying to fax valued and important documents including all the receipts of items over to them so they can know where you buy your authentic products so they can go ahead and buy them too so they can sell them as well on eBay and afterward they will suspend your seller account saying that you are selling counterfeited items that is totally wrong. BUT I have a good news that can be bad at the same time for them: in business, when you loose one fan or customer or seller, you loose 10,000 followers. One day eBay will fall if they keep doing this to people especially honest people. People, eBay used to be good at a certain time, but now it is about to fall. They been selling a lot of fake items like ( Nike Air Mag ) and so on. We need to stand up to be against that, because if we don't they will always do that to other sellers as well.

I bought a car recently and was scammed by a woman by the name Rose Luz , from Houston,Texas which is the seller ,who is still selling this car today when I purchased a lot of money and I am trying to get a hold of eBay but have no luck this woman needs to be cought before she continues to take more money away from family in need of a vehicle or so. There has to be some kind of justice on this. I tried contact eBay several times by email only to get ignored. I also tried to contact the seller but also to be ignored as well.

Thieves! We sell automotive parts on ebay, but if the buyer doesn't like the item & only returns part (less than a tenth of the total component parts), then ebay will reach into your account & give it to the buyer. That is theft, plain & simple. You should look elsewhere to sell.
