On 1/6/17 I inadvertently sent my seller fees (checks) twice creating a $615 overpayment. I contacted customer service at least 10 times trying to find out why my refund was not being processed. The only answer I got was it is processing. Finally after waiting 65 days my refund arrived. Before you sell anything be aware as many of these comments attest to, eBay is a buyer service and seller beware. Their customer service department provides you with nothing but misinformation and eBay no longer cares about sellers.

It's one of those companies that is too big to adm...

It's one of those companies that is too big to admit it has flaws in their communications and process for the sellers. It protects the fraudulent buyers. I wasn't told anywhere that I would close my case when I issued a refund. I send the buyer emails but never got my product back. eBay is more interested in protecting themselves than helping the seller. I don't get it, it is the seller, and not the buyer, who pays eBay for their services and they are helping the seller at all!!

Ebay is not a good service. They have a return system that belongs in 2005. They make it very hard to return items and get your money back. If a representative opens a return case for you but puts the wrong information just go ahead and consider yourself screwed and you won't be getting your money back. I will never use ebay again, I will stick to making online purchases on AMAZON as they are much more relaxed, understanding, and friendly when it comes to retuning items. They dont make a big deal about it. Ebay has completely thrown up their arms in defeat when it comes to my return, they have passed me off to paypal to get it resolved. Thats pathetic. When a customer calls with a complaint or problem the customer care should jump on the opportunity to make it right, LIKE AMAZON DOES! Iv returned dozens of items with them for a variety of reasons and NEVER had a problem. But with ebay my first (and last) purchase needed to be returned, and that first return got rejected. Its horrible how they are not understanding of new customers making mistakes. And its horrible how represenatives at ebay have ZERO power to reslve a customers issues. A rep put the wrong return reason in (it wasnt even my mistake!) and now the case is getting closed and pushed off to paypal, where I will have to open another case and start the process all over again. Horrible website, horrible processes.

Ebay Netherlands is very bad these days. You cannot even promote your ad. And international customers barely see your ad even if you have the most popular product of the time... Ontop of that you have to pay a big fee to ebay.. While your ad isn't even visible on ebay international for some reason... So you pay a fee for nothing because they do nothing to deserve the fee... On free auction sites you get higher bids more exposure and no fees....

I've been on ebay a while, and I've had good results with it, but what I really hate is their supporting pirates and profiteers during the COVID-19 crisis. A 4-pack of toilet paper for $32 and a can of Lysol disinfectant for $33. Five to ten times markup just to make a profit and rip people off. People with no morals or ethics. Ebay supports them because they make money at the same time instead of booting them like Amazon does. Despicable pirates, you will get yours in the end for ripping people off.

Sold a used item on eBay, buyer wanted two for that price. Buyer demanded a refund, so I did what eBay told me, refund the money, even though it was stated no refunds or warranty. Now I have to pay for the shipping back to me, when I was told I could keep the shipping and handling because of the buyer remorse. After spending over 5 hours on the phone going back and forth with eBay, the customer service is the worst including the supervisors that never called me back. I even opened a dispute twice with no resolution. I guess I will look at other remedies for all the nonsense eBay has caused me. BEWARE of eBay ! Everybody you talk to @ eBay will tell you lies just to get your money !

So, on the new defect rating system - after 6 months of beta, no one in eBay can remove a defect! Spent an hour of my life with 3 different CSR's to finally find that out!

Astoundingly bad roll-out of the new Seller performance standards, and sellers' ability to maintain a low defect rate and keep Top Rated Seller discount is held hostage. Dimwits.

Wish I could give 0. I got ripped off by a buyer fraudulently claiming "item not as described" to forfeit buyer-paid return shipping charges. I called Ebay and followed every representative's advice along the way only to have a supervisor, who admitted his representative was wrong, start yelling at me if I don't accept the ebay coupon he will deny my appeal right then and there. Then when I asked for corporate info he gave me a customer service line that went right back to them, wouldn't give me an email address or any form of contact above him or even his own name.

Have gotten BBB, FTC and Attorney General involved this is my current fight with ebay and These are things I like to point out: 1: before I even listed the item I called ebay because i had questions about the funds being placed on hold if sold. I was told that as soon as the item was delivered the funds be released becasue I have verified sellers paypal account. The item was delivered the funds were still on hold (this is ebay Lie#1). 2: The 2nd ebay rep i spoke with said he will get me to the department that can help and I would be able to upload my proof the buyer has already used the card and have the return and refund request denied and the case be ruled in my favor, Once I spoke with the rep that could help me I was told ebay would not accept anything I upload to prove my case. (that is ebay lie number 2 was told I be able to upload my side of things and wasn t)

3: I decided to open a complaint with the BBB because I felt I couldnt fight this mess alone and once the BBB notified me that ebay recieved my complaint my ebay account was suspended. How convientent for ebay.

4: Once I saw my ebay account was suspended I called ebay again and explained the situation to the rep and she said I would be refunded my money within 3 business days and if it wasn t there in 3 days call them back. I waited the 3 days and on the 3rd day the money still wasn t there so i called ebay again and I was told by an ebay rep that they could not refund me because my account was suspended once again how convientent for ebay. (ebay lie number 3 was told I be refunded but then told they could not refund me

I just find it very funny how right after I got the BBB an organiztion that helps consumers who have been wronged by a company fight back my ebay account was suspended and the excuse was i am too high risk . It got me really thinking how I am high risk when I ve been selling on other platforms like etsy and mercari for years with no issues and never been called high risk or suspended by either platform. I also have had a verified sellers paypal account for a very long time meaning all transactions have gone smoothly with no cases brought against me. So its clear paypal doesn t see me as high risk either. So the question is why does ebay see me as high risk the answer is becasue I decided to fight back against ebay and any body who fights back against ebay is high risk . Lied to by 3 ebay employees, my total loss for this has been $950. ($450 for what the card sold for and $500 which was the home depot card value) . Ebay is trying to tuck me under the rug and get away with this but they won t becasue there is this thing called corporate accountability and I will make sure ebay is held accountable for their lying and clueless reps, their buyer biased resolution center that cost 950 dollars and a lot of my time and their shady decietful policies. In the end of the day the ones no matter how long it takes the ones on the side of truth will come out on top.

Selling on eBay is a BIG RISK. Only sell things on eBay you are willing to lose because chances are you will. eBay is 100% on the side of buyers, not matter what the case. Their customer service will say "we don't need you (seller) you need us (eBay)". eBay has legalized crime and is profiting from it. Buyers basically can do anything they want and get away with it with eBay's help. Not only will people steal from you, but eBay will punish you (seller) for being a victim. Buyer can buy your item, open a case saying "not as described", send back completely different item and eBay will take the buyers side every single time. Their entire system is setup to automatically take the buyers side, seller is automatically always guilty even with evidence to support otherwise.
Be very careful with this buyer. He steals the sellers.

I bought a 64GB USB Flash Drive from a seller on eBay. The 1st time I tried formatting it the drive has error message "This Drive Is Write_Protected". I looked at the drive there is no switch to remove the write protection. The drive has TOSHIBA company name on it. The item number is 1129DA0800J2JMK in a white plastic case. I contacted TOSHIBA. It was determined that the product is a knock-off item. TOSHIBA never manufactured a 64GB USB Flash Drive in white plastic case. TOSHIBA only manufactures a 32GB USB Flash Drive in white plastic case. TOSHIBA manufactures a 64GB USB Flash Drive in black case. I contacted eBay Customer Service. Ebay told me that since I bought the drive in 03/28/2013. I can't file a complaint against the seller. The seller has a 98.5% positive feedback on eBay. The seller is below.

I looked up the knock-off item #1129DA0800J2JMK on Google search. I discovered that many other consumers had the same bad experience I have. The drive is not usable once it can not be formatted. Other consumers like myself have been victimized by eBay and its sellers.

I asked eBay how eBay allows this seller to have a 98.5% positive feedback. Ebay responded that eBay has nothing to do with the feed-backs. Customers did them within 60 days of their purchase. eBay is promoting fraudulent and knock off sellers while making commissions on their sales. eBay allows its sellers to deceive the customers. I'LL NEVER BUY FROM eBAY AGAIN because of their flawed business practice to victimize unknowing consumers while making money off fraudulent sellers by promoting them on their website as a legitimate U.S. company, eBay. eBay's business practice is hugely flawed to use the U.S. company as a front to promote fraudulent sellers. BE VERY CAREFUL BUYING FROM eBAY !!!!!

EBAY will FALL to amazon, and here is why....

I. Ebay Please redesign the "Rating" system. Ebays rating system doesn't protect its buyers. This is because Positive ratings are weighted the same as negative ratings. SO anyone can have a 99% feedback and be ripping people off. I SEE thousands of reviews where a seller has lots of bad reviews per month and just not reviews out of spite from buyers being slightly upset. We are talking about scammed buyers that are trying to legitimately warn people. It's time sellers are held more accountable for their actions. Yes there are those that sell in low volume. But they all should be held accountable for their actions. Everything from sellers FAILING to "3 day deliver" to sellers whom are legit FRAUDSTERS. You will get that one ebay seller. That decides to give up on life. They had a good run, then all of the sudden they have a string of bad reviews that month of "unsent items". and you just roll your eyes knowing, that the item you just purchased isn't going to be sent to you.

II. "Create shipping lable" shouldn't count as "its on its way!". Because ITS NOT. Literally you see ebay users that print that label and it counts as "being sent". um. NO. it does NOT COUNT! That's just "back burner'ing something".

III. If you are a BAD seller on ebay, and have more than 5 strikes PER month. It should be weighted MUCH heavier against you!. Yes sellers have their BAD days. We all do. and there is "that person" whom isn't happy. But generally people do NOT complain on ebay.

IV. You could be ARRESTED for buying something off of ebay!!! By DEFAULT ebay's settings should be U.S. ONLY products and searches. I get more than just a LITTLE angry when I have to constantly select US ONLY in my search. Often I will be searching and see a good price but the product is from china. I accidentally purchased an ebay item and it turns out I forgot to switch on the "U.S. ONLY' and purchased the item from china. After weeks of not receiving my item I get a call from U.S. customs that wants to speak with me. I was shocked to heck that I accidentally purchased an item not allowed in our country and thankfully customs (if you be super polite) didn't cite me.

V. Holiday SHOPPING is a JOKE on ebay. Yeah if you want to surprise that family member of yours by shopping on ebay. DON"T. They literally have every access to what you bought, AND infact. wonderful ebay announces on your page "BECAUSE YOU BOUGHT THIS ITEM. Let's suggest MORE!!' (way to be secret santa).

VI. CAUTION SELLERS: DO NOT USE United Postal Service for packages!! Even if you place insurance on the package. The USPS will NOT pay out on the insurance. EVER. The USPS is ran by our big brother, and they will NEVER pay insurance claims. Do your buyers a favor and do Fedex. Even UPS has become a stick in the mud.

The orders I have updated in April month have not yet reached. Yet I am unable to get my refund and also hard to contact the customer care as they aren't online or even cannot see my order on my purchase list to report as the sellers have removed it.

No support for buyers protection. Even they ignore Negative Disputes which buyers have done. And most of the buyers loose money because of this matter.

This company provides the absolute worst Customer Service in the history of customer service, and i can back that with once running 45 clients online (Forbes 500) customer service. For a company to pretend that they are an "American" company who shells ALL of their customer service out to the Philippines "most likely powered by Aegis corp PeopleSupport," with sub par service, staff that is not at all trained to listen to a customer, but to pretend they speak fluent english using constructed manuals to make sure that eBay makes their fees and their money, doesn't settle any claims with false statements and overall, after 14 years with eBay, I will be deleting my accounts in great standing, and would rather sell items face to face. Here is what I say to eBay OWNERS - "You fell short of your original idea, you became greedy, you stopped caring about your clients and made them replaceable customers, the same way you did with your employees. and now that you have blocked your corporate #, you have proven that you DO NOT CARE about anything but the all mighty dollar. Good luck bringing it with you in the end."

I wish I had read these reviews before selling on ebay. It's a scam that only benefits the buyers.
I sold a rare item on ebay for $260 and was told the funds would be released as soon as the buyer received my item. I did not want to accept returns because I am moving and did not want to deal with the hassle. The funds were not released to me, as promised, because the buyer is saying the item arrived broken (although the buyer could have broken the item after receiving it so they didn't have to pay). I was initially told by at least 3 separate ebay representatives that I was protected as a seller and I would get my money.
Finally, after I was getting nowhere, I spoke with an ebay manager who told me there is no protection for sellers and I will lose the entire value of my item except what I could get through filing a claim with the USPS (only $50). After countless hours and headaches, I have filed a complaint with the BBB. It is not fair that whenever ebay "investigates" a claim the buyer automatically wins 100% of the time, even if you say that you do not accept returns. The seller ends up losing money every time.
I urge you to think twice before selling on ebay. It's a scam!!

But selling a used item to another individual is not something that should be taxed If I sell someone an item personally I am not a store and do not have to collect tax Isn't that what the entire basis of eBay was to begin with There's absolutely no point to eBay now. I honestly hope eBay gets put out of business. Not to mention the fact they allow so many fake scam accounts and then only refund partial money from their so called scam guarantee. Boycott eBay!!

New eBay security rules automatically link all family member with the same last name and same address is unlawful and discrimination. eBay restrict my son account for something and automatically restrict EVERY accounts for ALL family. When I call them, they told me this is new rules because you have same last name and address, and the only way to lifted restriction from my account to push my son to fix his, and they dont care how good and long you maintain yours. I have 4 family member and I dont know who have accounts and what they doing on eBay, I'm assuming if eBay let them open accounts they know what they doing. Appalling customer service, abhorrent bias AGAINST reputable Sellers. eBay is ANTHEMA!

Sadly, we have a 3.5 year lease of a large 7000 SQ FT warehouse, 20,000 items, and have made nearly half a million dollars in our investment into our business. We are LOSING MONEY every month. On top of that, we work long hours each and every day, and we do our best. On the 20th of every month, eBay tells us we haven't met their "expectations" and are functioning BELOW STANDARD.

We HATE eBay policies, fees, customer IN-service, and website functionality. If we didn't have this lease, we wouldn't stay with eBay for ANOTHER HOUR! Every day we are plotting our escape from this horrific eBay.

I have been with eBay for 8 years and never had any problems as a buyer or seller till recently. I have been dealing with appeals and basically telling me amthat I am screwed out of money and item. Been trying to find a way to contact corporate office and have had no luck. I am really considering canceling mine and all my families accounts even though I know eBay don't care if I do or not.

Ebay money back guarantee is a joke if it does not get implemented. Avoid buying from Ebay as it's not worth your time to get hassled when you receive defective laptop. I bought a Laptop with has a lot of issues starting from BIOS is being locked to unable to boot since it hibernated all the time & took hours to wake up by pressing and holding windows key plus X key. The worst part, Computer Solutions and Exchange only refund me 50 % of my full payment dues to the fact this bad seller is accused me that I placed the BIOS and destroy the laptop. Come on... The screws on the back cover was protected by stickers (Similar to Chromebook protection). I did not even touch inside parts. I am a buyer as well as a seller - Don't trust Ebay unless you want to take a chance and risk associated when buying or selling in Bay! Go for Amazon. I rank the Customer Services from Ebay is zero to none. Ebay is practicing "Theft by Deception" and "Misleading advertisement scheme". SEC needs to do their job as Ebay is publicly traded company, it is under SEC jurisdaction as well. I already complained to BBB without result yet. Ebay is getting arrogant and think they are invisible...too bad...I will try to get contact with their board of directors, CEO, media, and state and Federal agencies for this kind of bad behavior. Honestly 10% on a 400.00 sale in addition to listing fees and all the other fees they can dream up? Then another 16 or 17 dollars in Paypal fees in addition to having to wait weeks for your money? Then if you end a listing early, a fee for that? Forget it. I am done with Ebay.

So... I sell a coupe of items via eBay with funds moved via PayPal and then a random hold on the funds from the buyer to me by PayPal on behalf of eBay. Why?

Completely random since I have not sold enough items (my last two sales were $4700 and $1900). I had more planed in that range, but not via eBay/PayPal!

eBay seems to employ an outrageously imbalanced policy regarding transaction disputes where, regardless of the situation, they will universally favour the buyer over the seller.

Case in point: Buyer x pays for a second-class postage and I send the item the following day as a second-class parcel, along with multiple other parcels. All of these other parcels arrive on time and I thereby receive positive feedback. However, x decides to go on holiday on the day his parcel is scheduled to arrive. Unsurprisingly, x doesn't receive the item. Now, rather than visit his local sorting office to collect the parcel that's almost certainly waiting for him there, x issues a complaint against me on the grounds that the item hasn't arrived and tracking hasn't been provided. I try to explain that second-class parcels are not trackable, that I have a proof of postage, and that I've completed a P58 form with the Royal Mail in case it's been lost. eBay still favours the buyer and grants a full refund, deducting the price of postage and the item from my account.

Awful company to do business with if you are planning to sell inventory. I have been selling cars on eBay since 2000, giving them $10000s of business over the years. Just in the last 12 months I gave them over $8000 in business. The greatest inequity is that as a buyer, you can leave any feedback at all (negative, neutral, or positive). As a seller, the ONLY feedback you can leave for ANY transaction, REGARDLESS of the circumstances is POSITIVE. The only recourse you have in dealing with a non paying bidder, or worse, a bidder misrepresenting the facts, is to "report" him/her to ebay. I have followed these ebay guidelines each time and of course, nothing ever happens in the way of anything resembling justice. Not even in the case of feedback EXTORTION!
I have worked very hard to build a reputation and ebay has no qualms about throwing me or you under the bus to further their own "impartial" agenda. Their customer service is nonexistent. Assuming you get someone on the phone (in Asia by the way), they will laugh at you and show you the door. The last straw for me was when a buyer attempted to extort me for money with the threat of retaliating with a bad ebay review. I disputed the review claiming the car was in an accident and proved the car has no accident reported by either carfax or autocheck. The only thing ebay cared about was the presence of VULGAR language in the review. That would have been the ONLY reason for them to intervene and remove the negative feedback. In other words, a review can be a heap of lies and will be allowed to stand as long as no vulgar language is used!!

I wrote a lengthy email to the executive board stating the facts and appealing to their common sense over 2 months ago and I have gotten no response.
Do not waste your money and time with this business. They are just another faceless corporation out to get your hard earned money and offer absolutely no support if you ever encounter any trouble.

I see a class action suit against ebay in the very near future.

There are NEITHER any direct phone numbers into the corporate office NOR any email addresses to reach some one inside eBay hq. One cannot talk to a USA-side eBay person unless s/he has called you first and given you their direct extension number.

Complaints, comments and constructive criticism are all funneled through the g-d 866 number and its two layers of customer support which sucks big time.

I have come to loathe eBay for not enforcing its listing practices rules consistently and in a timely manner which makes those rules nothing more than window dressing.

USERS are not treated equally. The older a user's account is and the higher its feedback score the less eBay's rules apply to them.

One last point, eBay's Listing Practices review department is wholly dysfunctional.

The seller sent me a faulty and broken item which was advertised as brand new. I complained to eBay (no phone number by the way, you have to go through their non-sense website) and they told me to try to resolve it with the seller first. I told the seller about the problem and he told me he will send me a replacement item that is in a good working condition.

A month passed and I still did not get the replacement. I complained to eBay but they told me they couldn't do anything because it's already past the 60 days complain limit, but they were the ones to tell me to resolve it with the seller first! They told me to contact PayPal if I want my money. I contacted PayPal but they told me to contact eBay if I wanted my money!

6 months later I still don't have either a working item or my money. The scammer Chinese seller has a rating of over 98%! When I checked his bad reviews he has done this to over 700 customers: send a low quality item not as advertised, then promise a replacement. As soon as the 60 days passed he knows eBay and PayPal won't do anything to him and he pretty much made a lot of money for a cheap product that does not work.

Basically the scammer sellers, eBay, and PayPal win by making a lot of money, while the honest customers get robbed of their hard earned money.

Ebay - this company is disgraceful and disgusting.. They're only interested in their commission they do not care about you as a buyer or seller..
I sold an amplifier on here that left this house in absolutely perfect working condition.. I packed it in bubble tape wrapped it very well put it in a heavy duty box and shipped it up it came back in pieces - literally you can shake the box and it's in pieces not working.... It got to its location that person hooked it up wrong and destroyed it... he wanted to return I mentioned absolutely no return because of being electronic item that could be damaged.. So, I left it in eBay's hands .. Well guess what they did.???? YEP, EBay immediately refunded his funds off my paypall account and had him return it and in the shipping is now in pieces... LITERALLY IN PIECES.
I've actually left it in the box so that I could remember forever that I will never use them again..
I would suggest anybody do not use eBay..
There are many other places to shop to get what you want and need.. Moreover. Ebays business practices are atrocious, disgraceful and disgusting one-sided geared towards obtaining money.. NOT A FAIR OR HONEST DEAL..
I bought a watch a very expensive watch the person that sent it never left feedback.. 3 days later the stirage quit working in this kinetic watch... So i made complaint anf he would not refund... it had to have repair work done on to it..
eBay didn't offer me anything back because the bill was already paid and moreover I left negative feedback and they actually removed it because that person complained
So, I find them disgusting I find them unethical I would tell anybody within my range don't do it...
You're better off buying it new or what little bit you might pay more or just find it somewhere else because there are far better places safer places to shop...
eBay is not a safe place to shop and I have over 200 purchases and I have made thousands transactions of return Sellers...
I sold about 30 to 40 items over the 15 years i have been with Ebay.. I do not recommend I do not suggest anybody use them ever....

9/24/2020 I have been an Ebay seller for about 10 years with almost daily sales. Ebay customer service is now so horrible , They admit they lied to me and are very poorly trained. They gave me bad information on their own policies and not willing to do anything about it. The last several CEOs have got a LOT of money to make Ebay worse but Jamie Iannone is REALLY driving it in to the ground!!! I paid them every month for 10 years and NOW the let me get burned and end up with out the money and a broken item??? HORRIBLE WAY OF DOING BUSINESS!!!
