useless company, sent me different items to what was shown on the website, customer service useless..emails only and 2 days to keep responding, said i would have to return the items at my own cost even tho they had not supplied what i paid for, had no conformation emails, no delivery note in the box when it arrived and no invoice either! complete waste of time, plenty of other websites selling the same gear avoid this company at all costs!! could have got the same gear on an auction site for a third of the cost, but thought was paying the extra for quality parts, dont think you will actually get what is pictured when you order you will get a cheap copy, worst customer service i have ever had in my life

Excellent and very efficient service. Technical team spot on, they wont try and sell you something you don't need, we are delighted with our reverse osmosis water filter system. In a blind tasting I couldn't tell the difference between the finest Scottish spring water we'd been buying and our new filtered water. Very pleased indeed.

I bought a brand new RO system to replace my old one which I had had for 11 years because it was not working properly any more.

Unfortunately, there was something wrong with my new system, the water pressure was very low and hardly any water was coming from my tap. After a huge amount of effort to contact the Customer Service and Technical Team, they asked me to send a picture of my installation. I sent several pictures from different parts of my installation. They, however, never got back to me to advise me what needs to be done despite me trying to contact them through online chats and phone calls. I also sent around 10 emails without success. After a month of struggling to resolve this I decided to ask for a return.

For returning, I also had to contact them several times and remind them that it was within my right to return a faulty item. When eventually they replied to me, they asked me to send it with a Signed for/Proof of Delivery service but they expected me to pay for the return. They also said if my item is tested by them and no fault is found, or the fault is due to misuse, I will be liable for any packaging, courier and/or labour charges incurred during our testing/fault finding investigation.



I have decided to discard the tank I bought from EMWC and not to return because of the hassle and lack of trust that they may charge me further for the courier and labour.I had a similar problem with EMWC in the past with another purchase which was a mineral filter. It had a disgusting smell and I had to go through the same painful procedure to try to get a refund. At that point, like with this time, I decide to let go of it and discard it instead of returning it.

This will be the last time I will purchase anything from EMWC. I would not recommend anybody to buy anything from this company because of their terrible customer service.

Who ever translated the instructions from the original Italian was not too familiar with how softeners work. No information as to the amount of water the unit will soften and no information on how to set the salt for a known hardness. No response to e-mails requesting for this information

Excellent technical advice about options to replace my old Harvey block salt machine. I bought the larger top of the range electric model and it's working very well. The instructions manual is very clear and it was easy to install myself.

The sales people aren't really knowledgeable enough and I was twice sold, not quite, the right thing. The sales team seem to need to ask other staff all the time. They also several times sent orders with items missing. We finally got there and they offered a reduction on future purchases of filters. Yet to find out if this will work. However I now have jumbo filters and a large UV that is going to be pretty expensive for new filters and bulbs. Massive overkill for two people with 1 sink and 1 shower, maybe. They mostly ignore emails, sometimes you get one who will help. Happy with what my system does but it was hard work getting there and maybe rather too expensive in the future. Quite disappointed with this company. If they don't offer the reduction I'll go elsewhere, and maybe even sell second hand what they sold me and buy smaller items. Even when you get the information it is a bit vague. Granted, rainwater harvesting isn't an exact science, though the cost of supplies is an exact thing. They are good in respect of offering reductions. Fingers crossed.

Having lived in the NW of England and enjoyed the benefits of soft water we had not appreciated the effect hard water had in an every day experience. Lime build up in the kettle , around taps and a shower screen that went opaque. Soap disappeared at an alarming rate so just awful.
Having now installed a Harvey's Homewater Twin Tank life has returned.

Silky soft water, the merest squib of washing up liquid , soap that lasts and we can see through clear glass again in the shower without the use of cleaners. Brilliant in all respects.

I bought a five stage R.O system a few months back and only installed it a few weeks ago as i had to source a replacement elbow union locally. It only took a little over a week before we got a Metal/acidic taste from the water. I googled this and only then realised that R.O water is very acidic if it does not include a mineral/alkaline filter. i bought an alkaline filter locally and this seems to have removed the taste. I decided to do a PH test using a home kit and it shows the water is at the lower level of the alkalinity scale. so not sure if this R.O business is for me. Please supply a mineral/alkaline cartridge with all your R.O systems.

Second time I used East Midland Water Company, each time I bought a water softer system and each time I was provided with excellent value for money, technical help and I am so please with the system I bought. Will recommend and definitely use again, keep up the good work.

water filter system is leaking and very rude customer service.
I called the customer service as the water filter's valves started leaking. When we tightened the valve screw which is hard plastic the screw snapped.
I spoke to the Manager Ian who was very impatient on the phone and said I should send photos in. When I asked how long the process would take as we have a dripping valve he was very rude, told me that I wasn't listening. I was quite taken aback receiving such a rude response especially as I was calm and reasonable trying to explain the situation. We now purchased a water filter elsewhere.

I recently purchased a water softener from EMWC, after having previously purchased one for my father in law a few years ago. The advice and support when I rang the company, and specifically spoke to Ian, with some questions was clear and not hidden in jargon. At no point was there a 'hard sell'. A few days later I purchased a water softener, a 'blue' model. It arrived on the day that was promised and fitting was simple and straightforward. All I can say in conclusion s that I would recommend EMWC to my family and friends and would certainly use this company again. Well done.

Just a note to say how impressed we are with the water softener. It was easy to install using the user guide and the results were almost immediate. We are in an exceptionally hard water area yet, once the storage tank had been replenished just once we were already enjoying softer water.

Recently attended Ideal Home Show, Olympia.
Apart from general interests intention was to visit the stands selling Water Softeners, looking for a replacement for existing machine, after spending some time with various company representatives came across EMWco. Was very impressed with the salesman (Kevin) knowledge, pointed us in the right direction as to size required for my home, spent almost an hour deliberating but eventually purchased a 'EMS10 Blue ECO Premier'
Delivery was as arranged and fitted following day.
The machine has been in operation for a week now and am very pleased with the softness of the water, not using as much washing up liqiud also not getting any sign of scum marks after bathing.
Unlike my old machine am not having to top up with salt every week, could get through a 25Kg bag between 4 & 6 weeks. a great improvement so far.
I have no qualms about rating this company and its product a five star , pity I didn't know about them before.

I bought a water softener from EMWC nearly ten years ago and needed some advice about getting it going again after a period without use. A quick phone call to them and my original purchase was still on their database and I then received excellent assistance and advice from Josh in their service department. My softener is now re commissioned and back in operation. Would not hesitate to buy from EMWC again!

East Midlands Water Company were an absolute pleasure to deal with. I was unsure what Softner to purchase and they spent time explaining the right one for our needs. The whole experience from EMWC was outstanding. Their support and knowledge were second to none. They even advised qualified plumbers who would do installation in my local areas too (although this did not work for me). If I was going to purchase another Softner I would go to EMWC as they were faultless in their service, ordered and delivered all within 4 days, well packaged and great quality. I purchased reverse osmosis filters from this company but the filters that they sent were different from the ones on the website and even the replacement filters they sent did not fit my filter. They have been absolutely useless in dealing with my issues and have refused to reply to my emails or letters.
Jan 2021 UPDATE: The Customer Service team led by Ms Potts have redeemed the situation. Not only did she manage to resolve the issue, they also provided me with a free spare set of filters for a year. Thank you

I bought a blue water softener EMS15 18 years ago from these guys. It's a super machine with 10 years parts and labour guarantee. I remember it was one man Called Ian from this company serviced me at that time. I move to a new property recently and looking forward to my next 18 years machine. This is a copy of the email I sent as a thank you to East Midlands Water Company as I have just had 2 of their products installed. I received excellent service and great advice.

Good morning Ian
We finally have the water softener and under sink filter up and running.
We had to wait until the renovations were complete.
My plumber (who has one of your softeners) said to test the filter I should
have a glass of it then try a glass of hard water (from the outside tap).
The difference is remarkable !
It turns out that the water I ve been drinking for years might as well have come
from a rusty bucket.
Also this morning s shower felt like a shower I ve had on foreign holidays where the water is much softer.
My skin was lovely and soft.
The plumber has set it all up for me but I m sure I ll have questions as its early days yet.
Thanks for your advice especially the ability to drink the softened water.

After I was diagnosed with stage 3 Cancer I called and was advised by a lovely lady called Emma that a water filter would help with cutting out metals and other nasties, the filter arrived quickly and is absolutely amazing! I can taste the difference and feel so much better, the cancer is shrinking greatly and I'm very happy. Recently purchased a 6 stage RO unit, it arrived as promised but we are missing 2 parts relating to the UV filter. I phoned them 3 times and have now emailed them 3 times but to date no response. I also phoned tech help but just get a recorded message advising their opening hours...this is a disgraceful lack of customer service and would i use them again NO would i ever recommend them NO would i tell all my friends and family never to use them YES HELL YES ---------------------- Update December 2016 - I have to say that since i wrote this review, things have improved dramatically, I got through to the office and was immediately put through to their despatch manager, who immediately sent the missing part which arrived next day, so happy to report that all's well that ends well. Once installed soft water is lovely BUT had problems with User Guide and the fixing kit.
I could only half turn the taps on the inlet and outlet valves because the nuts on the connecting hoses are in the way. Suspect I will have to do all that plumbing work again but with more washers. I also wished there was a picture of the back of the softener showing pipework correctly attached (for reassurance).
Next - the user guide pictures for programming are terrible/illegible giving you no confidence that you are doing the right thing.
Finally - the programming instructions are not in the right place if you are following the Installation Guide step by step.

Since purchasing a new Water softener a few months ago, I had a frustration where the water produced was not soft enough however, after a few months of helpful assistance from East Midlands water, we got to the bottom of the issue and replaced the Water Blending valve, which Tom ordered for me straight away and was with me in a couple of days. It is now working lovely! My thanks goes out to Tom, who has been very helpful to me over the last few months. An excellent service, Thank you!

Purchased the EMS10 water softener and really seeing the benefits of soft water in London. I have noticed that my eczema is not as flared and aggravated after installing this water softener.

Purchased from them at a home expo show and thought they were really knowledgable about the product and not a pushy or hard sales pitch.

They delivered the item on a agreed date and can change the date if something changes. Item was well packaged and installation straight forward for a person with average diy skills.

Support is a simple telephone call away and get straight through a real person and transferred to a knowledgable person for your questions you may have.

Purchased a water softener in May 2019 and fitted it for a customer.
It did not work from day one. They told us it could take 2 weeks to start working? We spoke with them repeatedly and they suggested we tried a few things, non of which helped. They apparently only have one engineer Josh. Parts were ordered on their advice from America. Parts coming from America for an in warranty repair? Surely as the dealers they should carry spares or replacement units? When they finally arrived and were fitted there was no difference. We have been chasing them since having various excuses as to why they have not visited to repair the appliance. (His car was having an MOT, he had a medical problem with his eye.) Many promises have been made that the problems will be rectified. Non of which have happened. Almost 4 months after installation the customer understandably has lost faith in the product and requested we remove it and is not prepared to pay for it.
Total lack of customer service. Lack of communication with our selves and the end user.
They are based in Leicester which is where the appliance is fitted.
If they cannot resolve an issue on their door step what chance for the rest of the country? We repeat do not buy from this company.

I have bought a number of water treatment products from this company over a few years including a water softener system (EMS15) for the house .This system is excellent and has sorted our hard water problems with the heating system. I recommend EMWC for their very helpful service before and after sales ,and good reliable products.

We had one of EMWC's EML10 water softeners for 5 years at our previous house with no issues and perfectly soft water and so when we moved recently I bought another identical one. Easy purchase and install and it's taken our hard water from 260ppm down to 10ppm. I re-tested after 1000 litres used (800 left) and it was still at 10ppm. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this company (Emma was excellent) and its product. I did a great deal of research before each purchase and couldn't find a better machine.

For what its worth, I have only used 1 product which was a small filter for my 2 bed flat. The water here in london is terrible tasting but with this fiolter it is a lot better. The saving on buying bottled water means its paid itself off within 3-4 months at the rate I drink them. Not to mention saving plastic!

I would AVOID USING AGAIN AT ALL COSTS. Know Your Rights!!

We ordered 3 bags (x 2 blocks in each) of Harveys Block Salt from this company, where I signed for the box as the box looked fine and was not damaged or in any obvious bad shape; where also, the box had nothing on the outside of it to state that the box held fragile items and / or that it needed to be handled with care.

Upon opening the box that evening my husband and I found that there was loose salt in the bottom of the box, which was also coming out onto our hall carpet. Upon inspecting the plastic bags around the block salt, we also found that the bags appeared very knocked about and even had what appeared like knife slits in them. We could also feel that all 6 of the blocks of salt were severely broken in several places and that there was an amount of loose salt within the bags which was freely coming out. We did not open any of the bags and I emailed the company about the damaged order and did not receive a response, where I then telephoned East Midlands Water Company the following day and spoke to a young lady who had a very poor attitude towards me and informed me that it was okay for the broken salt to be used in a water softener unit still. Upon me insisting that I was unhappy to accept the order, she asked me to send over some photos where she stipulated that I should not open any of the bags of salt for the time being.

I sent photos of the damaged bags of block salt and the shipping box with the loose salt in the bottom of it, and also informed the young lady that we have purchased a lot of Harvey s Block Salt before from other companies in the past, where when it has arrived (usually 6 bags at a time = 12 blocks) it had been very rare to find even one block salt slightly broken (plus the bags around the salt where always in good condition) where their bags were in a damaged condition and the block salt was severely broken.

In response to the photos the young lady then just emailed me and copied and pasted over a paragraph which has been put on their website: stating: *Although every effort is made to ensure your salt arrives safely, the salt blocks are very brittle and can occasionally arrive damaged. This does not affect the performance of the salt and it can still be used in your water softener*

I then telephoned Harveys Block Salt and described the problem to them, whereby they advised me that it was NOT okay to just put the broken salt straight into my water softener, but that I needed to put the bits into a stocking and try to pack the blocks back together, where they also advised me that small parts of block salt and loose salt particles could block some parts of the water softener unit.

I contacted East Midlands Water again and said that I was not happy to accept this delivery and that I wanted them to arrange for the Block Salt to be collected and for me to have a refund, where the young lady very haughtily just told me to send it back if I wanted!

I then sought legal advice from Which Legal Services and was advised about my rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Where I was informed that East Midlands Water Company are responsible for the quality and fitness for purpose of what they sell : whereby I did not have to accept damaged goods; which signified an unfair contracts term!

After my very formal letter to a manager who was also previously very rude to me on the phone (where he informed me that 'He had heard about me!') I was offered a full refund and they did not want to collect the damaged block salt.

All of this in my opinion equals a terrible company to purchase anything off due to their lack of customer care and extremely poor levels of service and products. Incidentally, when I then immediately purchased block salt directly from Harveys (for nearly the same price) - it came unbroken in very well packed boxes marked with FRAGILE - Handle with care.

Poorly descripted instructions. Incorrect semi-built connections on RO unit.

. Customer support: Slow response times to email. No apologies. No rectifications. No effort made to right wrongs by sales-staff.

UPDATE (March 2018): Poor post sales support concerning defective part. Sales-staff in denial needing management to apologise.
Kudos to the manager who did actually take some time to speak and show interest in the matter and offer to make amends with an improved tap asap that arrived with 3 replacement filters for the main RO system. A fitting gesture because also unfortunately stressful to reach management and achieve a response, despite faulty hardware.

SECOND system: Sales-staff advised to include a de-ionisation filter that I was advised NOT to order by the first sales-rep. Confusing.

Installation disrupted by needing to be fully taken apart and every connection re-sealed to ensure proper function.

Disappointing regarding the pre-mounted comments on the websites!There were discrepancies with the mains connector brought to the attention of staff. Unfortunately, no reply.

Post sales support: I enquired regarding whether the UV section should be switched off at night as there is no indication about running times and warmth is generated by the unit causing warm water, plus the connections on the UV filter keep periodically loosening and dripping water*, even after being re-sealed and tightened. Unfortunately no reply.

SUMMARY
It would seem despite purchasing over 1200.00 GBP of goods that comprehensive service is not a strength of EMWC.

The service* experience unfortunately detracts from all other positives.

*Service is not only replacing a faulty product or part; service is about enquiring, responding and ensuring that the customer is pleased and supported in the transaction and satisfied and certainly not having/needing multiple discussions.

RECOMMENDATION
Get the higher grade tap-connector for the mains supply. It can be turned off when absent. The standard one can t!

The shower filter is a must-buy!

UPDATE (Jan 2019)
With both devices now running without issue for nearly 10-months and the faucets and water-quality being really outstanding, the review is being changed to 3*** to reflect the product performance.

The EMWC product is 5***** easily.
The service and support however detracts 2**.

In hindsight the installation was tricky and without prior experience there are too many tiny errors to be made that can be easily avoided. The second installation went much easier than the first.

We will be getting our future systems from EMWC and hope that they are improving their customer support.

With a reliable customer support EMWC deserves 4****-5***** ratings.

I have now had an EMWC water softener in my centra...

I have now had an EMWC water softener in my central London flat for some 18 months during that period it has performed faultlessly. It replaced another softener that had failed to cope with the extremely hard water in this area. I have to say that this is the best water softener that I have ever had in terms of performance, quiet operation and meagre demands on the salt supply. It is quite literally the best of breed in my opinion.

I would like to offer my positive review of the water softener that you supplied to us for installation in our new house.

The unit is very compact, and produces lovely soft water. The water does not leave any hard water scum at all in any of our wash hand basins unlike when we lived in a house with hard water.

We are very pleased with the operation and effectiveness of the water softener and would thoroughly recommend this unit unreservedly.

Tesco bottled water is measuring 95 and French bottled water 85 and Our dirty tap water is 275!! that makes the kettle black within a month

Fantastic water softener, I purchased the "Ultra Compact" and installed it myself.So easy to install and use. I should have fitted one years ago. What a difference it has made to the household, showers and screens in fact all the cleaning.. Delivery was fast and after sales excellent ( only enquired about salt dosage). If I move house I will definitely use EMWC again...

Since having the whole house filter BT65 installed, our water tastes, smells and feels much more pleasant. It's very noticeable and we no longer have itchy skin or smell chlorine in the water. Heavy metals (mercury) are a known cause of Alzheimers and knowing that these along with hormones, many pharmaceuticals and pollutants are removed by it makes us feel safer.

I have just had my first water softener service completed by EMWC, and all I can say is what an excellent experience!!

The ladies in the service department,Michelle and Emma, were extremely friendly and helpful, and were able to answer all my questions.

The courier company, DPD, is, in my experience, one of the best, and collected and redelivered my softener at the date and time stated.

As said, an extremely efficient service, so please keep up your excellent work.

After two weeks with our first water softener, we are very pleased. First the company: pre-sales advice was great. The sales manager answered all my questions, assessed my requirements and offered two alternative products for our situation. We chose a AQ8 metered unit because it was a long-standing, proven design, and would fit under our undermounted sink. Delivery was prompt and free, and our installer found all needed accessories. After-sales support by both phone and email answered a few minor questions. It might have been better to publish a user-oriented manual in addition to the supplied booklet which dealt mostly with installation. Cannot fault EMWC yet, their product and support have been better than expected - many softener companies do not do well on these counts.

Secondly, water softening itself: if you live in a hard water area, do it! You will be amazed at life without limescale. Manufacturers should do more to dispel the myths about these units: first, the water coming out of the tap does not taste salty, in fact I prefer the taste without the London minerals. So we did not bother to split off a drinking water tap directly from the main, or install a filter - it just wasn't worth it. Second, our unit does not affect our combi-boiler delivered shower pressure at all! Even our installer was sceptical, having had customers complain about reduced water pressure in the past, but technology must have moved on - or the EMWC product is simply better.

The company included a free water hardness testing kit, which was pretty easy to use to test the hardness (ours was 330 ppm!). You enter this figure on the screen of the controller unit during installation, and it seems to know how much to soften the water. This is a metered unit, so it detects how much water has gone through it and then regenerates at 2am about once a week. This process does not seem to make much noise at all. We bought 30kg of salt with the unit, but don't really know yet how long it will last; supposedly 3 -4 months. Adding salt is very easy, you open the small door at the front and just shovel or pour it in. My guess is we will have to do this about once a month, but cannot tell yet. The regeneration takes about 30 minutes and makes practically no noise, just a squishing sound as the water passes through the unit. During normal use, it makes no noise at all.

Our kitchen installer connected the unit, and he didn't grumble at all so it cannot have been that hard. It fits perfectly under the under-mounted sink with room to spare. You run a regeneration manually at first, just press a button on the front of the control panel. If you forget to add salt, it just won't soften your water - it will not damage the unit I don't think. I will just top up the salt as I think of it.

Overall, I am very pleased with EMWC and their product. They have been doing this for a long time, and it shows. If you have hard water, take a leap and forget about replacing kettles, spending hours cleaning your shower, and watching your appliances get crusted with lime scale. At this price point, it's a no-brainer and we should have done it years ago.

I recently installed an EMS 10 Water Softener in my home in central London where the water is very hard. It was both easy to install and a joy to operate. It is clearly well made with high quality materials and should have a long and effective life. Setting up the control panel was a little challenging to begin with but a phone call to EMWC Technical dept soon sorted that out. Such a helpful and very knowledgeable person. In fact the whole process from start to finish was characterised by the quality of service provided by all with whom I spoke.

I had several problems with my water softener. I bought the softener on the advice of a family member, who hasn't had a problem with the product.
I understand that these things can happen so that isn't my main gripe. My review is based on the terrible customer service. The technical advice and servicing department hardly ever seem to answer the phone. I sent my machine to be fixed and didn't hear anything back, phoned up repeatedly to try to get some information, but to no avail. Very frustrating.

I bought this equipment earlier this year and have had problems with it right from the start. The instructions are a photocopy of a piece of paper and the kit itself is not of a good quality.Very flimsy and not a substantial as the unit I replaced it with. ERR3 keeps appearing on the machine which means pulling it out and resetting it . Never had such a problem before. Now it will not reset and I get no answer. .
I cannot recommend that you buy this kit . The technician intially was helpful in the 1st phase of problems which is why I gave it 2 *s but now have had enough.
