He came, he inspected and oddly enough, tho I hadn t had my vents cleaned in a long while and the filters were filthy each month, the vents were clean. He didn t charge me for his visit. Great guy.

Saw one of their trucks driving ultra aggressive o...

Saw one of their trucks driving ultra aggressive on I-95 North this morning at 6:10 from VA mile marker 158 to about 168, license plate looked like Virginia CA40-978. He was tailgating at high speeds in the left lane. Anytime someone moved into his lane, he would speed up, get feet from their bumper and pull his vehicle halfway onto the shoulder to make sure they knew he was upset. And the vehicles weren't cutting him off. This was just when any vehicle went in his lane. I don't think he should lose his job. Maybe he's a fantastic technician, but you need to send him to a safe driving course and let him know his angry driving reflects negatively on your company.

CroppMetcalfe did a great job cleaning our ducts. The man arrived right on time, set to work and cleaned both HVAC systems and all the ducts in the house including the dryer duct. No muss no fuss no drama, just a lot of vacuuming and in the end clean ducts. Thanks CM!

Very friendly customer service, very fast responding, and very importantly, very professional technicians!!! They solved my HVAC problem within one hour after we struggled with another "famous" HVAC company for 6 days!!! Can't appreciate Croppmetcalfe enough for their outstanding service!

If I could give them a zero I would. I took half a day off of work for no one to show up and to be told that my appointment was canceled because they couldn't reach me via phone. The dispatcher had my work and cell phone number and failed to call my cell on one of her "three" attempts. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!

For reviewers who complain about mark-up on materials -- it seems to me that this is how it works in any service industry, whether you are having your car repaired or work done on your HVAC. That's part of hiring someone to do the work.

Anyway, I have been a customer of CroppMetcalfe for HVAC maintenance for upwards of 20 years and in two homes.

They have always provide good service and reasonable rates. In fact, we've had a maintenance contract with Cropp for years for our seasonal checks. The technicians that visit our home are knowledgeable, polite, honest, and customer-service oriented. The customer service reps that answer the phones are the same.

The seasonal service check appointments book up quickly, so make sure to schedule it early.

If I had the option of 0 stars, that's what I would give for my latest plumbing service. I have a plumbing contract with Cropp Metcalfe and when the toilet in my master bath started to leak, I asked them to repair it. It is a split flush toilet, but with a Fluidmaster flush mechanism, so not all that exotic. You can buy the mechanism at Lowe's for about $30. I called C-M every week for updates because they never called me to say what was happening. SIX WEEKS later, C-M finally called and after promising me that I could have next day, first call service when the part came in, offered the following week when I would be out of town. After making it quite clear that what was being offered was unacceptable, I was finally transferred to Erin (?) one of the supervisors. Fortunately, he remembered an earlier conversation we had and added me to the schedule for immediate service. I do a lot of repairs around the house myself and should have fixed the toilet myself, too, but thought "Why not let the professionals do?" Lesson learned. If you have to deal with the C-M plumbing department, try to track down a woman named Mickey. She was the only person I interacted with in the past 6 weeks who seemed to understand what customer service is, put notes in my file when she saw there were none (including no record of all the calls I had made), and was able to make me less angry about the whole mess. A C-M technician is supposed to arrive bright and early tomorrow morning and hopefully this ridiculous saga will end with a working toilet. Not rocket science.

Dwane was the best, because he not only identified and fixed the problem expertly, but he explained what we should expect from a plumber in this situation (he was fixing a problem created by another plumber). I was taken a little aback by the cost, but I have no doubt this won't be a problem again. I will use CroppMetcalfe again.

My wife called these clowns last winter when two humidifiers built into the two-zone heating system were not working. The technician made several false claims about a humidistat not working on one system and the solenoid not working on another. He quoted a huge repair price for making all kinds of unnecessary replacements, and charged two service calls for his flawed diagnosis. Instead of paying for all this, I found that both water lines had a clog in the flow restricting orifice. I cleaned out the clogs and got both systems working. I wonder, was the technician so incompetent that he didn't think to check whether water could flow at all? Or, did he find the true problem and decide to quote a more expensive repair?

We had a leak in a first floor ceiling. I called that evening and was given an appointment the next afternoon. I waited and was informed the serviceman was on a job and would be there directly after completion. I didn't want to wait any longer so rescheduled for the next morning -Saturday. The serviceman arrived on time, was very courteous and knowledgable. He fixed the problem in no time and gave my husband some plumbing tips for the future. Highly recomend.

They came to my home to check a problem I had with our energy star water heater e. They charged me more than $ 200 at the time, and quickly made the heater work again. Now, few months later, the heater went completely off. The new plumbing company Im working with found out a series of old problems that the CroppMetcalfe technician was unable to diagnose.

There's nothing quite like getting the run around ...

There's nothing quite like getting the run around on a phone being switched from one person to another only to get hung up on. Then calling back and being told: "oh well, there's nothing I can do about it" Sometimes, companies get too big and are unable to control the customer service skills of their employees..especially those employees who are on the frontline answering the phone After-all, they are getting a paycheck, regardless. My veteran organization was simply looking to help a veteran in Virginia find a good plumber but I'm sure there are plenty good , solid companies out there that we can find especially since this company doesn't seem to need this vets business.

My sales representative, Mr. Ahmed Young, left me under the impression that after the extermination process was complete, the house should be closed for a few hours with no one inside. I was at work and I understand they left everyone inside and the front and back door open.

Fraud. I called with a very straightforward job--reconnect sink drain with a garbage disposal. The customer service rep would not give me a price quote over the phone, though it is plainly available. The technician came to my home, verified the job was exactly what I asked for, and opened a spreadsheet with absurdly high prices...then charged me $85 to read a price quote. It costs $800 to reconnect a sink drain with garbage disposal? If I knew CM had such ridiculously high prices, I would never have agreed to a ridiculously high price estimate. I will never hire your company for any work.

Dependable, responsible, responsive, and professional. We replaced our 26 year old gas furnace and 16 year old air conditioner yesterday. Installation team did the job in 10 hours without taking a break. While Carrier is not an inexpensive brand and I am sure there are others that can undercut CroppMetcalfe on price, you get what you pay for. I trust these people, and have since 1993.

I don't know where Croppe-Metcalfe sends its "five-star technicians", but they don't come to my house! I've had the same wiring/thermostat issues on my heat pump for about two years. The thermostate has been replaced at least three times; the wiring has been "fixed" I don't know how many times! I am very frustrated

I would give zero stars if I could. Multiple visits and had excuses for why they couldn't clean the air duct to the dryer. The third time, we called a DIFFERENT company and they cleaned it in less than an hour for 3/4 of the price. Save your time and money. If you want details, see below.

All we needed was our dryer duct cleaned. First guy showed up, went in the attic and said the attic was too hot to do work in the summer so someone else would come in the morning on another day. Fair enough. When no one showed in the morning on the scheduled day, we learned they'd scheduled for the afternoon. Uh oh. Two guys showed up, looked in the attic, looked at the back of the house and said the duct was too small for them to clean... they'd send the first guy back. We called another company and it turned out the dryer duct wasn't even in the attic or the back of the house. Seriously? OTHER company cleaned it in half an hour. CroppMetcalfe is terrible.

Technician came to our home on 11/14 in the morning to service our HVAC. He told us we needed a capacitor, he installed it and left. . by the time we arrived home later that night on one of the coldest nights the system was blowing COLD air on heat! We didn t have this problem before they arrived! We couldn t get them to come back after paying them over $300!, don t use them!

I had sump pump issues and the plumbers here actually tried to convince me I needed to pay $786 for their consultation and to replace the entire system. Thankfully I remembered I had appliance warranty. I called the them instead and they connected me with Franconia Plumming. Who came out and showed us what was wrong and they fixed it immediately, free of charge. What was wrong? The black float was in the wrong position...the plumber simply moved it to the proper placement.

Since we didn't know that was the case, maybe the two CroppMetcalfe plumbers didn't know either. Makes you wonder why they were there for a sump pump call...Oh and this Cropp visit cost me $86.95 to almost be ripped off. Thanks!

Very professional on the phone and in person. They came out twice to check on a radiator noise (i'm new home owner so a bit naive and uninformed about expanding pipes). The tech was very patience at explaining things and came back 15minutes later to tell me more about other noises to expect from boiler...

They were professional, very friendly and very solution oriented when small things came up that were unexpected. We were dismayed that the serviceman did NOT turn off the breakers to work on an electrical system. As a result of this oversight of a basic step, the serviceman blew out all the power to the dwelling and then spent hours trying to figure out where the problem was and how to restore the power.

My story begins about 5 years ago when both of my 22 year old AC units broke. A family member is in the HVAC business but was too busy to help out. He recommended a friend who was starting his own HVAC business after working for someone else for years. What a mistake. Basically I got scammed and had to hire another guy to finish the job after the first guy went missing with most of the money for the job. After 5 years, my upstairs unit wouldn't cool the upstairs on the first warm day of 2020. By this time I had had enough of the small business/single owner operator ( I had other issues with other systems, garage door, electrical, plumbing) so I called CroppMetcalfe. So glad I did. First they answered my call nearly immediately and scheduled a visit from a tech for the next day. Then about an hour later CroppMetcalfe calls back and says they have a tech in the area and would I like them to come over. Heck yeah. Turns out my 5 year old compressor failed and the tech asked if it was under warranty. I said I had no idea and had little confidence that either of the guys who installed my AC 5 years ago did the paper work to register the units. So CroppMetcalfe said they would check and let me know. At this point, given my history with the HVAC industry I figured they would say it was not under warranty and charge me for a new unit and labor. It would have been so easy for CroppMetcalfe to do that and I'd have never known the difference. But much to my surprise a couple of days later I get a phone call that the compressor was in fact under warranty and would I like for them to order one. Heck yes, and my faith in human kind got a little stronger. It took a few days for the unit to arrive. Two techs came over first thing in the morning and worked till late afternoon to install it. To top it off, the techs worked a few hours longer than usual for a compressor install because the guy who originally installed it then went missing had installed the entire system improperly. It worked but barely. So the CroppMetcalfe techs went the extra mile and got the system to work better than it had ever worked and didn't charge on cent more than the estimate. And all of this in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Truly truly professional and top notch service from CroppMetcalfe and I couldn't be happier. I'm a customer for life.

I have an HVAC policy with Cropp Metcalfe and have always been impressed with their service. When I had a problem with my water heater, I called on Cropp Metcalfe again for help. I was just as impressed with their plumbing service! I was able to get an appointment for the next business day. The technician they sent, Giddian, was very professional and thorough. He was able to diagnose and fix the problem the same day (even though it was late afternoon when he arrived, he stayed the additional 90 minutes to get the problem fixed!). I will now use Cropp Metcalfe for my plumbing needs! Great job!!

These guys are a very professional organization with very polite, dedicated and knowledgeable personnel. I had a service call in for troubles with my AC, the service technician came and did everything he could to get it resolved, but less than three days later, I was still having the same issues. CM immediately sent another technician out at no charge and he was able to get the final kinks worked out. Thank you for the excellent response time and service!!!

I asked for a quote to have a gas line under my deck extended 12 feet and to have a quick release put on the end. They gave me an estimate of $1428.00. I bought the materials myself for $78.25 and hired a handy man who did the job perfectly in 2 hours for $200. I wouldn't hire them to do anything based on these prices. They also tried to give me the impression the job was much more complicated than what it actually was. USE at your own risk. Use Angies List and get someone that wont screw you!

Requested electrical services i) flickering light for fan; and ii) installation of recessed light fixture. Technician (who was great, very professional, wore a mask etc) sorted fan issue very quickly, but he did not have a recessed light fixture. Explained that he or I could go to Home Depot to buy this standard fixture, but that time would naturally be added to the bill. I asked what I should have said differently; I would have expected the technician to have basic light fixtures in his van. Apparently I should have said that I didn't have the light fixture. That was an expensive $100+ lesson in what to say to CroppMetcalfe's customer service person.

I've been with CroppMetcalfe since 2012 but my HVAC that came with the house when I bought it has been with them since the installation. By the time I started using their service, the HVAC was passed its life expectancy. Nonetheless, they took expert care of the system and got another whole three years more. So last week it became time to replace the 15 year old unit and I naturally chose CroppMetcalfe. Through the years of being with them, their advise has been spot on and they truly look out for the interests of their customers. I have never been disappointed with any suggestion or recommendation they gave. George has been my service technician since I started and he is absolutely superb. I also have found that all of the employees I encountered; be it sales, the tehnicians or those who work in the office, are all top-notch. Choose CroppMetcalfe, you will be more than satisfied.

Technician was respectful, knowledgeable, and sincere. However I was charged $240 for a gas flame ignitor for my furnace which was supposedly cracked/broken. A new one can be purchased online for $25 bucks. The interesting thing is that the technician took the "old and broken" ignitor back and put it in the new ignitors packaging box, instead of putting it in the trash. If it was old and broken, why are you keeping it? Anyways, the technician was able to back trace the electrical problem all the way back to the circuit board and solve the issue, which was impressive.

Been doing business with C-M for about 15 years. About 13 years ago they replaced my heat pump with a gas furnace. I have an annual service contract which has taken care of the few problems I have had. Every service technician has been so nice I am amazed. Clearly they are well selected and well trained. Also they come when they say they are coming and if there is going to be a delay they notify me.

Our AC stopped working one day and, as they were the installer, we called Cropp. $105 for the first half hour and $30 per 15 minute block. Fine. But then they also wanted to charge an additional $150 for using some compressed air to clean our AC s vents... within the same 2 hour block of time. I m probably missing something but that feels a lot like getting charged twice for the same block of time. Never got an itemized invoice; he just had a piece of paper on which he kept scribbling notes to himself. Then came the litany of parts he advised us to replace today or soon because they re probably going to fail. Parts neither of us have ever had to replace on ACs we ve owned in years past. And the entire time he was pushing a one year service contract that would cut the cost of today s service. So it s: today s charge is expensive and you have more whoppers on the way, you d better buy our service contract right now! Uh huh. Ok. Reminds me of how retailers try to get you to open a new line of credit at checkout by offering a discount on today s purchase. I had to argue down today s cost and tell him three times that we re not buying a service contract today to get him out of the house. Several hundred dollars and a sales pitch for him to find and flip the moisture switch. I learned things today: Check the moisture switch and beware of using Cropp for service.

Cropp Metcalf is doing an OK job with my pest control. They show up on time and their service techs are really great. After complaining to the first service tech I did get him to really address a rodent problem, but I feel like I have to force the issue to have full scale removal of a pest. Their scheduling system has been off for six months. I have people coming more often than expected and scheduled without any request or confirmation from me.

two experiences: my previous company with whom i had bought two furnaces and an heat pump, installed a lemon five years ago which broke down more than a dozen times and never worked efficiently. this company would not help me in any way regarding their very low rated heat pump. i called croppmetcalfe to repair the heat pump (rather than use my original firm for which i had a contract) and they repaired the heat pump at a reasonable cost, i decided to buy a heat pump from cropp metcalfe. it was installed four days after the sales personnel came to the house. installation was done with ground covered with snow and ice. taking 7 hours. the heat pump did something the previous unit never did--bring the heat in the house up to thermostat setting in two hours (7 degree increase). the installers were courteous, clean, and effective.

He figured out the problem, made the necessary repair and restored our heat. We were very happy with the prompt, capable service we received from the CroppMetcalfe technician. Gouged, Overcharged and Ripped Off, other than that I would never recommend Cropp Metcalfe Plumbing to anyone. $769 to replace a sump pump. The Pump is $225 item and it took the technician 45 minute to replace. $500 in labor is absurd for 45 minutes work.
I have a service agreement with Cropp Metcalfe and I am supposedly a preferred customer. Nothing about my experience yesterday made me feel as though Cropp Metcalfe valued my business or wanted to keep me as a customer.
I called the plumbing service manager Alan Oddenino 3 times yesterday, finally getting a returned call at 6:30pm only to say that there was nothing he could do. When I asked if he could look at how much business I have given Cropp Metcalfe in the last 6 months, he could not be bothered.

CUC owns a 12-unit apartment building. The hot water heater stopped functioning and we called CM. The technicians labeled our emergency as mission critical and said he needed to order a part. The part was not ordered, they took our $105 for the call and did nothing. Now our maintenance guy is scrambling to find another company for this emergency. CM brought out our small business plumbing company who installed the hot water heater but this is not a good company if you are accustomed to good service and a company that cares about its customers.

Josh was the technician who came to rewire our dining room lights and install a rewired chandelier. Josh is highly professional in his performance of duties from providing excellent explanations of the problem and his proposed fix to his care for the parts of our home he must touch, change or work with. Given the problem we had, Josh explained the the annual electricity maintenance program to us and we have been very pleased to be able to purchase and rely on it. Josh is our guy and Cropp Metcalf our company. thank you for this opportunity to praise Josh and his excellent work.

My experience with CroppMetcalfe is amazing. We have two heating units and two AC units that are serviced by CM. It must be Murphy's Law that when you get pregnant and the temperature hits the 90's, your air conditioning breaks down. This is exactly what happened to me last week when my husband and I discovered our AC was no longer cooling the house. We called CroppMetcalfe and scheduled an appointment for a technician to come out and take a look at our system. Miguel came to our home and was very polite and professional. He wore booties as to not track dirt in our home and cleaned up after himself which I appreciated. After doing extensive diagnostics and letting us know the severity of our problem, Miguel recommended that the best solution was to replace it, as it would be more cost effective than trying to repair the multiple problems. We were expecting this diagnosis as we've made several repairs and temporary fixes over the past few years, and we knew our system was working on borrowed time. Within one hour, CroppMetcalfe called to schedule a sales appointment to evaluate our current system and make a recommendation for a replacement. Donny was very friendly and knowledgeable and made a recommendation for us based on our specific situation as homeowners. CroppMetcalfe was obviously very busy with upcoming installations, however considering the oppressive heat wave that was going to hit our area in the next few days, Donny managed to move our installation appointment up two days and provided us with a portable unit so we could keep our bedroom comfortable in the meantime. CroppMetcalfe certainly cares about ensuring their customers are comfortable and comfortable moments are few and far between when you are pregnant in the Summer so this added service was much appreciated! We were also able to schedule the installation for a Saturday, which was very helpful so my husband and I didn't have to take time off of work.

Juan and Zack arrived at our house on time on Saturday morning to install the new system. Like at previous appointments with CroppMetcalfe, they wore booties and laid down drop cloths in the house to protect our flooring while they moved in and out of the house. We live in a row of townhouses, so I was concerned that they would drag dirty equipment through the house, but when they removed the old heat pump, they wheeled in all the way around the houses on the outside which was a much longer route, but very considerate of keeping our home clean. When Juan was removing the old equipment in our basement, he noticed there was a large hole in the cement foundation underneath the air handler that opened up directly to the ground around the main water pipe! We had no idea it was there and it was obviously missed by the builders because it should have been filled in with concrete. Rather than ignoring it and installing the new air handler over the hole like the previous unit, Juan let my husband and me know and advised us to fill the hole with concrete before he installed the new unit. I am sure Juan was anxious to continue installing the system so he could finish sooner, but we really appreciated his sincerity and giving us the time to fix the hole and prevent a number of possible problems such as flooding, and pest entry. Juan could have easily ignored the hole like a previous installation from another company had obviously done, but letting us know indicated that he actually cared about his customers rather than getting the job over with.

The whole appointment went very smoothly and Juan and Zack were finished within six hours. The new unit is much smaller and quieter and we are so grateful to have wonderful cool air flowing in our home again! My in-laws have used CM for years. They had them ...

My in-laws have used CM for years. They had them install a new HVAC system 10 years ago and have continued to use them for bi-annual maintenance. Their AC wasn't cooling enough so CM came out and told them that they needed a new compressor, but said the compressor will probably only last a year or so, so they should replace their whole AC system again. $2500 for a compressor and around $5K for a new outdoor unit. It didn't sit right with me so I highly recommended my AC company for a second opinion. My preferred AC company went out there and determined it was just low on refrigerant. $275 fix. Sorry, they won't be helping you make your sales quota this month!

They consistently would not have the parts required and would have to come back to finish the job. The technician who came the first time was pretty good but still did not have the part. For the Second job too they did not have the part and it was going to take a week to fix a leak. I am calling someone else.

I would give zero stars if I could to represent th...

I would give zero stars if I could to represent the zero F* they give to my family. The company we used got bought out by CroppMetcalfe. We got the notification that nothing would change. We had a wonderfully simple product where they come out twice a year and check and refill Freon if needed and basic maintenance and cleaning. They did not come out at all. After a year we call and they schedule someone to come out in a month. He never showed. We reschedule for the following week. Guy comes out and says everything is fine. The next day we turn on our AC and nothing works. He had messed with the fuses and they were loose. Then no contact and they don t come out at all ever again, but they still bill us. Meanwhile the call us because the card on file is not working and they want the new card number. NOPE! Get another company in and he says we have no Freon due to a small leak that could have and should have been caught by CroppMetcalfe, we need a new coil (that is under warranty still thank god!). I will never recommend this company to anyone.
