I asked them to perform a maintenance service on the units to a house we just bought. They came and did it just fine (some stars) but I was over-charged. They charged me $90 just to replace the humidifier wick. I found out that this is above industry average, and it's also an easy thing to replace. Similar to changing the air filter. It took the guy 1-2 minutes.

Second, the technician recommenced replacing the Schroeder valve caps on the units outside since they looked old. He wanted $45 for this effort. Seeking to avoid the "fool me twice, shame on me", I passed. Bought the valve caps online for a few bucks and had my 1st grader do it for me. If you can fill up a car/bike tire, you can do this.

Bottom line, I would not recommend. They won't be back here.

Used to be an upfront company. Unfortunately now they are nickel and diming us and trying to get any money they can for each service. They don't tell you that the $105 service change is extra from the repairs. Used to be included.

Our last experience with CroppMetcalfe for air conditioning flex ducts went really badly.
They were not installed properly & caused a wet wall & ceiling in our diningroom that had to be taken down & rebuilt after new mold was removed from the area. The ducts dripped water on to our carpet in our tv room. And l couldn't get the head guy from that department to come to our house to see what was going on.
Another company had to remove all the new ducts & replace them to bedrooms & from attic to a/c unit in the basement, wrap the metal pieces of the a/c in our attic to prevent further condensation issues.
And now l am being charged $800 for ducts that have been removed.
Unbelievably bad service & insulting on top since l have been a customer of CroppMetcalfe for years. I can't use the company anymore.

CroppMetcalfe was great! I had a frozen HVAC unit because my thermostat broke (which I found out later). It was really easy to schedule with them - they came out the next day (within 12 hrs of my issue) and it was resolved within an hour with the technician onsite. They were very professional and friendly; able to explain the issue simply and fixed it quickly. Great service and reliability!

Cropp-Metcalf has always given me excellent service. Techs are professional, courteous, friendly and prompt more than not. I feel I pay more than I like for the gold maintenance plan but it has been worth the service I get. I left Cropp-Metcalf several years ago but I got third rate service and went back to C-M. I was given excellent advice on any additional service I might need in the future. Whenever I needed emergency service in bad winter weather in the past they got to me in a reasonable amount of time knowing there were many other customers needing emergency service as well. I recommend Cropp-Metcalf to anyone needing year-round service and maintenance. Overall, the yearly contract saves me money so maybe it's not as expensive as it could be.

It all began with an advertisement for a free inspection. They came out and did the inspection and at the end of the inspection they said that will be $105. I said, I thought it was a free inspection. They said if you have to do any repairs it is a minimum charge of $105. I said I would of told you to stop and not do any work if that was the case. I said, I wasn't paying and I get a bill in the mail a few weeks later. I call the service center and explained that I didn't authorize any work and in fact told them to stop when they said it's a $105 charge. To no avail they said they weren't waiving it.

Instead of paying the $105, they said they would waive the $105 if I signed up for a service agreement. I signed up for the bronze which was $150. HVAC tech came out today and did the most basic 5 minutes in, 5 minutes out inspection. I called the service center and said I wanted out of my service contract. I explained above and the call center brought on an unidentified gentleman who said the first call should of been free and I said that's what I said but I had no choice but to sign up for the service agreement so now I want to cancel. He did reimburse me half ($75) but I urge you not to use Cropp Metcalfe.

they are relying in small business "Individuals" the problems is with the top Staff, in this company the guy who manages the operation is very secrecy He would not let customers know what materials were used to fix under ground water system the damaged that the water cussed he would not give me list of these wires or goods delivered so customer would like to know what is been done , tried to not work with my insurance and refused to give them the list of Items that he replaced 'JUST listed as "MATERIALS" by his pen ,, that is problems, for me the insurance would not compensate me for the cost,then this company would solicit a credit
line with Wells Fargo Bank , and that is good for the bank NEW Account fees profit,but customers get Hurts, Financially. by both of this coordinated work still get note from the bank about this Account I did pay it in full

Our last contact from the company was for a pre-paid maintenance service. The employee had previously provided the maintenance service and we asked that he be scheduled for this last service as well. He generated a great deal of confidence, explained what he did and answered all of our questions in a way that were clear and on point.

Had Michael from CroppMetcalfe come out to help with low water pressure, a noisy PRV, and a faucet that seemed to not work properly. He spent a lot of time testing and inspecting the system so he truly had a diagnostic eval complete and then walked me through exactly what the problem was and how he was going to fix it.

When he was done, my water pressure was great again, my hot water worked great, and he even fixed a faucet line that was giving us issues. He was fantastic, professional, ON TIME, and pleasant to be with.

I like two things about them: communications skills are great (if they may be late they call you....not just show up whenever); and they do not try and gauge you financially....very fair and honest pricing. The worst experience I've had in DC. They showed up for an 8-12 appt at 1155, even though I told them I had to leave for work by 1220. They probably wouldn't have shown up at all if I didn't call them at 1130 to find out where they were. The first thing the plumber did was turn off my water, then immediately had to leave to get parts at the store, leaving my house unlocked with no-one home for who knows how long. He charged me for a pipe replacement which was $420. All he actually did was put on a $10 temporary fix. When I called to complain they immediately issued me a modest $115 credit, which, as of two weeks later, I still haven't received after more than 1/2 dozen phone calls. The deception, if not flat out lying, was ridiculous. I will never use this company again.

The care you have given to my late husband and my home for 32 years, and the service I have received for 5 years in my condo has been flawless. Horrible service. I ve never experienced this many issues from a contractor in all the years of being a homeowner. They came for a hvac maintenance check and didn t properly put the panels back in place so we didn t have heat or air for 5 days. We had no problem with our hvac system before this visit, the technician had no idea how to properly check the unit.

We then had a maintenance check for plumbing. They said we needed a minor toilet rebuild for our toilet that had no previous issues. They installed the fill valve and after that our toilet stopped filling with water. The technician broke our toilet. Another technician came out to fix it and now it runs nonstop, 24 hours a day.

I have tried getting in touch with a manager 4 times over the past 2 weeks and have not been able to speak to one. I have left countless messages and recieved no call back. How can a company function so poorly? How can multiple technicians break objects that were having no previous issues?

Please save your time and money and use a proper company. I highly recommend Len the Plumber. They came immediately and fixed all of the issues that Cropp Metcalfe broke. I am making sure my neighbors are aware of these issues and will not be using their services.

On July 3rd, I had a tech out to try to clear two drains and to install an expansion tank on my water heater. The tech could not clear the basement drain and he said that someone from the office would be calling me to schedule a video drain inspection. This appointment seemed to go well.

When no one called me, I called to schedule the video drain inspection for myself for August 1st. A woman called on July 31st to confirm this appointment twice. Once to say it was in the morning and again, to say that it was actually in the afternoon.

On August 1st, a tech showed up without calling before to install an expansion tank, which was already done on July 3rd. Several calls and hours later, another tech showed up to do the video drain inspection. The tech could not see anything because there was water in the drains so he said that the floor would need to be dug up. He got a quote from the front office, but said someone would call to confirm, if Tuesday, August 5th worked to dig out my floor.

I mentioned to him that no one when scheduling the video drain inspection mentioned that if there was water in the pipe, nothing could be seen. Had someone mentioned this, I would have avoid using my kitchen and laundry for a day, which should have been enough to clear the water. I did not confirm that I wanted my floor dug up on the following Tuesday with anyone.

I missed a call from CroppMetcalfe on Friday evening (August 1st) and in that message, the woman said to call and confirm IF Tuesday, August 5th worked for me.

On Tuesday, August 5th - techs showed up at my house in the morning. No one called me on Monday, August 4th to confirm that I wanted to schedule Tuesday, August 5th. I told the techs that I did NOT confirm this appointment and called CroppMetcalfe. I spoke with I believe a Lisa. She apologized for the confusion and said that a manager would reach out to me.

It is now August 14th and no one has reached out to me. The worse part is I signed up for CroppMetcalfe's Plumbing Service Agreement and now I will not use it since I cannot trust them to respect my time and the service that will be provided.

After complaining to the first service tech I did get him to really address a rodent problem, but I feel like I have to force the issue to have full scale removal of a pest. Their scheduling system has been off for six months. I have people coming more often than expected and scheduled without any request or confirmation from me.

Can't say enough good things about Croppe Metcalfe. We purchased both a complete HVAC unit and a hot water heater for our condo from them. Even though we weren't happy with the 'air handler' portion of the HVAC, they did everything they could to help us rectify the issue. From the sales staff to the service techs to the people who schedule the appointments, they are all friendly, professional and helpful. I recently had to replace a capacitor and a transformer in my inside HVAC unit. CM sent out a technician (Luis, who was great) the same day I called. The unit now runs nice and quiet! Their prices are competitive and sometimes better than their competitors..they are quick to respond to complaints and to online reviews...both positive and negative...thanks again Croppe Metcalfe!

The business model is SPAM. Tech #7832 BUSTILLOS - ALBERTO This review based on my experience 2 years ago. My preschooler thrown her toothbrush into the toilet, so it was clogged. I called CroppMetcalfe because I found the good rating in google. When the technician came, I told him a toothbrush clogged the toilet. He flush the toilet once and confirm the clogging. It took him about 2 minutes. Then he started to sell us his multiple layers service plans. He had a price book on hand! He will try to use a plastic tool to push thru it first, which cost about $200, if it works, the initial service fee is waived. If that short tool doesn't work, he will try a metal snake, which cost about another $200-$300, I don't remember the exact amount now. If metal snake doesn't work, he will replace the toilet. He has no idea if any of his tools works. If he replaced the toilet at the end, we have to pay all things he tried plus the replacement of a new toilet! Both my husband and I were intimated by the unknown cost to fix a simple issue. Then he proposed an attractive offer, why not just replace your toilet without trying to fix it. We asked him about the price to replace the toilet. How naive we were! He showed us the multiple layers of their products. The replace a similar one (ours was only 4 years old), the cost was over $1200. Fortunately I still remembered the price to install ours, realized he was fishing. Turned down his offer. He said then we need to pay his service + diagnosis $173.90. We paid him and let him go, about 30 minutes in total. Thank you for coming to flush my toilet and confirming what I had told you, wasted my time and charge me $173 for nothing other than trying to sell me what I didn't need. The invoice told me that I had saved $86.95 by calling them.

I called my handyman, he removed the toilet to retrieved the toothbrush and put the toilet back. He charged me $60. Problem was solved. I was so glad we didn't bite the hook. If we had allowed CroppMetcalfe starting "work", who knows what he would do in order to make us pay them thousands. I should had post review much earlier to save other customers from the terrible experience.

5 Star Service indeed - Have been using Cropp for several years - they installed our HVAC, and we have used them for Pest control in some rental units. Managing rental units means dealing with many companies that provide home services - They are in a league of their own and I can confidently state that the Cropp team lives up to its motto in every single interaction.
FAIR PRICING- Our HVAC sales person Chris Duke was one of the best we have worked with, and still provides prompt feedback to questions years after the install!
For Pest control, they have some of the best service and plans available, and provide free evaluation of the issue, something I haven't seen with any other pest control outfit.
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE - You always get someone on the other end of the phone who has your account open, and just gets your question straight away!
KNOWLEDGEABLE TECHS - Their onsite techs understand their craft well and have always given excellent service.
- Tim Pfabe from the pest Control unit comes to mind. You will be in expert hands with him and anyone else from his team.
- We recently had an issue with our HVAC compressor, and Cropp was in timely communication through the new part procurement and replacement process, then reinstalled to our satisfaction in one day (a very cold day if I recall rightly).
EXPERT ACCOUNTING AND CONTRACT TEAMS - Jennifer Novitsky has worked with me on on pest control contracts and not only offered a fair price for each contract, she recently worked with me on an issue , mitigating a significant loss due to a misunderstanding. This is the true mark of a provider who values their customer and understands what impact fair customer service can have.
They don't drop the ball on service - we almost contracted a smaller provider in VA for our new HVAC a few years ago, and so glad that we went with our instinct and used Cropp! They so obviously value their teams , who in turn provide the excellent service that customers value.

Called them due to what I suspected was a bad blower on my AC unit, after finding them on carrier's website. The technician did all his checking and followed covid guidelines, and confirmed what i suspected. The major issue I have is what they said the cost of repair ; it was 1.7k. Which would of covered the price of a new unit. I ended up repairing it myself for no more than 400 dollars and 30 minutes of my time. if I was willing to wait for the part I could of gotten it almost half that. long story short; disappointed with the price they quoted me, because I feel it was grossly out of proportion to what the actual cost should of been.

Really disappointed with my interactions, I provided payment details and then wasn't charged. I later had to pay and was left on hold over 15 mins just trying to pay. We used a different company for the actual work after the estimator failed to provide an estimate after several requests. He admitted he just didn't do it, gave us a personal son story about his life circumstances, came back again to provide the estimate finally and it was nearly double competing bids. Not worth dealing with this company.

I think this is my first Cropp Metcalfe review. We have been Cropp Metcale customers since 1987 and have four HVAC units in two properties, including our residence. We have been entirely satisfied with our service over all those years with numerous technicians providing prompt, reliable, skilled, and personable service. Today was a perfect example. I decided to schedule both properties, in Vienna and in Rosslyn in one day. The technician, Kibret-Direje, arrived promptly at 8am, did maintenance work on three machines, detected a reduced refrigerant condition in one and a fan-motor malfunction in another. Two other technicians arrived with the necessary parts, which they installed while he completed the rest of the service. The whole process took about four hours, requiring adjustments in his schedule so he could fit in our rental apartment in Rosslyn, all of which a pleasant dispatcher named Kathy arranged promptly. When he was done, we went to Rosslyn, where he performed the maintenance review, finding no problems. I was impressed by his flexibility, knowledge, and skill. He was also very pleasant to deal with, a good representative of his company. All in all, I think that was another 5-star performance for Cropp Metcalfe. Thanks, Folks.

It's nice to know things are running as they should and they will make sure any problems are attended to.

They charged me $200 and telling me that they could not locate which part is not functioning and tell me just to replace whole units. They open indoor units in the attic, but just left then open until my second technician from another company told me about this. I called them to report this issue and they never they get back to me. CroppMetcalfe technician does not have knowledge and experience in what they are suppose to do. I feel that they know nothing about the repair but just recommending to replace the whole thing. I will never use them again, Please be aware and don't waste your money.
