My story begins about 5 years ago when both of my 22 year old AC units broke. A family member is in the HVAC business but was too busy to help out. He recommended a friend who was starting his own HVAC business after working for someone else for years. What a mistake. Basically I got scammed and had to hire another guy to finish the job after the first guy went missing with most of the money for the job. After 5 years, my upstairs unit wouldn't cool the upstairs on the first warm day of 2020. By this time I had had enough of the small business/single owner operator ( I had other issues with other systems, garage door, electrical, plumbing) so I called CroppMetcalfe. So glad I did. First they answered my call nearly immediately and scheduled a visit from a tech for the next day. Then about an hour later CroppMetcalfe calls back and says they have a tech in the area and would I like them to come over. Heck yeah. Turns out my 5 year old compressor failed and the tech asked if it was under warranty. I said I had no idea and had little confidence that either of the guys who installed my AC 5 years ago did the paper work to register the units. So CroppMetcalfe said they would check and let me know. At this point, given my history with the HVAC industry I figured they would say it was not under warranty and charge me for a new unit and labor. It would have been so easy for CroppMetcalfe to do that and I'd have never known the difference. But much to my surprise a couple of days later I get a phone call that the compressor was in fact under warranty and would I like for them to order one. Heck yes, and my faith in human kind got a little stronger. It took a few days for the unit to arrive. Two techs came over first thing in the morning and worked till late afternoon to install it. To top it off, the techs worked a few hours longer than usual for a compressor install because the guy who originally installed it then went missing had installed the entire system improperly. It worked but barely. So the CroppMetcalfe techs went the extra mile and got the system to work better than it had ever worked and didn't charge on cent more than the estimate. And all of this in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. Truly truly professional and top notch service from CroppMetcalfe and I couldn't be happier. I'm a customer for life.
