Called about a leak coming from the bottom of AC u...

Called about a leak coming from the bottom of AC unit that was flooding our bedroom level of the home. First called our warranty service One Guard Warranty that I thought it was a drain line or plugged drain pan. I was told they were 99.9% sure it was and that they do not warranty that problem. Called A#1 Air and was told they could come out the following day and that it would cost $59 to diagnose. I explained that we thought it was a drain line issue and asked for a general idea of the cost. Was told they could not provide an estimate without looking. I went ahead and booked it since it was a leak and our bedroom was hot. Was called the next day and was told the technician was on his way from NRH about 15 minutes away. We waited about an hour and when I went to call back I noticed I had missed a call. It was one guard wanting me to confirm the appt. I called and then waited another hour for him to arrive. The tech was very nice, said he had been with the company for 8 months. He proceeded to tell me it was a drain line and it would be $299 to shoot compressed air in the line. That it could damage the line, but that was how to fix it. I thought that was crazy high, but he said he would include a check of the other units in the house. I went ahead. 5 minutes later he was done. He had cut the pvc, blew air and sealed it. Yep $299 bucks plus the $59 trip charge. He left and 10 minutes later after turning the AC back on it was leaking again. I called A1 to have him turnaround and explained we are home all day to just send him. This was around 2pm. Since my wife and I were working in another room I did not hear a phone call wanting me to once again confirm our "new" appt. Since he had not shown up for a couple more hours, I went to call them a third time and noticed three new phone calls with the last message saying they cancelled our appt for lack of confirmation. Now I'm hot! Literally. I called and explained we have been there the whole time and that WE were the ones to turn around the tech. They said they would send a new tech and that I would NOT have to confirm the appt. 9pm sets in and no tech. Guess what, I have two messages saying that if I don't confirm my appt. they will cancel it. I call back to rip them a new one. The rep states that they marked the account with a do not call just arrive and an hour later we have a tech arrive. So it is 10pm and I show the tech what the original tech had done. He takes off the panel, which the previous tech did not, and low and behold the whole thing is flooded and is clogged at the start of the drain line not 3 inches from where the original tech cut the line. The second tech said tech #1 should have been more complete with checking and that it should have only been a $90 job. I then find out they work off commission. My mistake I should have asked, but I honestly thought in this day and age no one, not even car salesman work off commission. The tech asks to use a coffee pot so he can run warm water down the line, he then cleans up and AC is working fine. The next morning we go to make coffee and our coffee pot is broken. The lid had been forced on and broke. Called A#1 air to explain our situation and all they said was sorry. I escalated it to have them tell me they would refund a measly $111 off of the $360 i paid. I explained they better reconsider that in order, (in their words....ensure customer satisfaction) I would only pay for the trip and $90. They finally said they would, made no apologies to the fact they broke our coffee pot and moved me on my way. The Green's business model of commission based sales of their techs, and calling the customer no less than 9 times for us to confirm an appointment we called to schedule is archaic. We choose to take our business elsewhere in the future. Hope this helps with your decision to hire an AC company.

Great experience! We've dealt with many AC companies and have never had as good of an experience as we did with A#1. Everyone we dealt with was professional and dedicated to help. We had one of our systems replaced and the did a great job. We had an issue with it 6mo later and they came out right away, identified the issue, resolved it quickly and with no charge. They're not the cheapest in town, but they are well worth the price and I highly recommend them.

Installed a capacitor in one of my units. Charged $340 after $50 discount, regular price per the Tech was $390? Such capacitor retails for $20-25 and average charge in DFW area for a Capacitor replacement is $120-$150. It takes 10 min to replace. I will admit they are on time and Techs are good but with that kind of price point hesitant to refer. This was not a weekend or after hour call.

Sales team helpful on front end, and install team sealed the deal. They showed up at 9 a.m. and we're putting the final touches on new system at 9 p.m. in the dark. Very impressive and system works great. If having new system installed, plan to be out of the house for that day if unit is near living space. They basically quarantine the area where the new unit is. If I could give it a 4.5 rating I would. Recommend.

Extremely prompt service, received calls each time a tech was on his way. They were very thorough in explaining the problem and potential solutions to someone who knows nothing about hvac. A less ethical company could have squeezed me for a lot of cash, but the final price came in far lower than expected.

I called to have my hvac inspected as my second floor was not cooling properly. My technician, Roy, came and quickly assessed the issue, broke down my options and made me feel confident in my ability to make the best decision for my home and finaces. He went above and beyond to ensure we had some relief by installing a window unit that wasn't correctly set up and informed me he would be available to return for additional services when I am ready to move forward. I will definitely be calling Roy in the future when I am fully able to make the repairs needed.

Try to speak with someone central to a department outside of the call center and see how far you get. The spill about being treated like family is only a sales point. I m a electrician myself so I wanted to speak with someone directly about my concerns. The best I managed was being told that they could send a technician out.

I wander if I ran out of toilet paper, would they send a technician out? I bet they would forget to bring more paper.

Steve B. was great! Very knowledgeable, courteous and informative. Found the problem right away. Would request him again. Service call on Sunday (Father's Day) and a new AC unit was installed on Monday before noon. Love A#1Air!! Technicians were quick, quiet and professional. Highly recommend!

Sam was great to work with. He was on time, very professional, completed my work on a timely basis and was neat and organized. He did an excellent job of explaining what he was doing and what he recommended that I get done. Sam is A#1.

First off, A#1 Air did an amazing job!!!! Hands down the BEST ac company we ve ever dealt with. Toby Stanley did an amazing job in advising us on the best ac unit to put in our home. The installation crew did a job well done. They were extremely knowledgeable on what they were doing. They took the time to train us on our new fancy thermostats and answered any questions we had. Thank you A#1 Air for making our home COOL again!!!

A big thank you to Lucas for getting a technician to our house today when our AC went out last night. We were so happy to see Clint S. this afternoon. He diagnosed the problem and had our AC working in no time. Clint is very professional and we enjoyed our conversation with him and learning about our AC system. And finally a shout out to the gentleman who came out to our house two years ago at 12am when our old system froze over. He convinced us to take a parts and labor warranty and today it came in very handy. Thank you to Clint and the A#1 Air team!

William S. was extremely professional yet friendly. He was thorough in his work and answered all of our questions in detail. After talking with us about our needs, he suggested the Family Membership plan for maintenance. He explained the benefits to us in detail and we signed up. The company will notify us when it is time for maintenance instead of us having to keep track of it. While every A#1 Air person we have been involved with over the years has been professional and helpful, we would love to have William S. on future visits. He is definitely an asset to A#1 Air and represents the company well!

I used A#1 to install two high-end tankless hot water heaters. Both failed inspection and the city said they did not pull the necessary electrical permits. The city said they would let A#1 know and have them contact me to resolve. A#1 never called. A week later, I called A#1 several times to try to schedule an appointment. They told me it had passed. When I said no; they finally (after 2 calls) realized it had failed and agreed to come out and fix the issue. They then did not show up for the appointment. When I called they said they had decided it would be better to come when the city inspector could also come, however they failed to let me know, so I sat home for hours waiting. As of now, it is still not fixed and who knows if they will ever come out.

Prior to a couple of months ago I would have given A#1 at least 4 stars. They installed our system in 2017 and they were providing the twice yearly maintenance on the system, all of which we were very satisfied with. A couple of months ago we called them for service when we believed our A/C drain line had become clogged because our emergency drain outlet outside was dripping which it had never done before. The tech that came out did not even check the drain line, but stated that was not our issue and that our issue was that there was a loose wire in the air handler that was causing a diverter not to close properly so 'maybe' our evaporator coil was freezing slightly causing excess water when it thawed. Again, he never even checked the drain line. When issues returned we called again, this time we needed emergency service because our A/C was completely shutting off. The tech that came out did clear a clog in the drain line near the sink where the A/C drain line connects, but he did not test the drain line by pouring water into it at the air handler to verify that the 1 clog was all there was. The next day, the emergency drain outlet was still dripping so we called again. That night another tech comes to our home apparently mainly to humor us and treat us condescendingly. I will say that A#1 did refund us the emergency call fee which of course we are appreciative of, but we were still out the money for the first call yet our issue was not resolved. Needless to say the issues started up again, but this time we went with another company who actually listened to us and tested the drain. There was a VERY bad clog that they cleared AND they tested the drain line after clearing to be sure it was actually cleared of any/all clogs. The clog was made up of old rust particles from our previous system so the clog was not in any way our fault - no amount of vinegar was going to clear that clog. I know that nobody is perfect, but if any of the A#1 techs that came out had poured water into the drain near the air handler then observed whether the water came out at the sink drain then they could have diagnosed that there was a clog and resolved our issues. In which case, they would still have us for customers.

This feedback is for Deontae C (Service Technician).
1. He was super competent at completing the needed repair.
2. He was very patient and diplomatic while I argued with him about wiring. By the way, he was absolutely correct. I was wrong. Thank you Deontae.
3. He was friendly. He occasionally talked with us and helped us to feel very at ease with his service visit.
4. He was patient and thorough. He showed evidence of before/after operating measurements.
Thanks for another positive experience. Glad to continue as A#1 Air customer even for another 10 years.

Homeowners BEWARE! This is a shady business. I selected this company to replace my 20 year old HVAC when I moved into my house a few years ago based on 4.5 stars average review on Google. Well since then, each season I taken advantage of their seasonal check up. This is the ONLY time I ever have trouble with my system. Sure enough, about a week after each visit, a problem crops up with my system. So then a different tech will come out to fix the new problem, and I end up paying for parts, labor, etc. I guess this is A#1 Air's way of drumming up business. This year, I reluctantly did the check up (because of past experiences). The window for the appointment was 8:00 to 12:00, the technician, Justin showed up around 1:30 PM, no calls, or anything. Then Justin complained that our attic was 146 degrees!! Well, guess what?.... you work on HVAC, in Texas, Justin! And, it wasn't nearly as hot at 8:00 AM when the appointment was scheduled. Well, Justin pointed out several "issues" with the installation of our HVAC and tried to upsell us on products, a "ceiling saver" and special sealant, and I asked why these issues were never discovered in the past 3 years of inspections. He had no answer. He refused to work on the other system, that A#1 Air installed, because "the attic was too hot, and it was too difficult to get to". I politely told Justin to leave on not come back. I never heard any follow-up from the company.
Update 20 June 2019:
Sure, enough.... two days after Justin was out to 'check' my system it quit working... I did get a response on Google from the company's complaint department??????? If I were the owner I would have called or been out to fix the problem.

Let the estimate numbers speak for themselves:

1- replace two dual run capacitors buy local $34.00; A1 Air $1,338.00

2- clean ducts, local $550; A1 Air $1667.00

3- upgrade units; Bought local $3,200 A1Air $10,670

Their not alone. Two other companies were similar. Why such mark up? I suppose the love of money and just plain old greed.

Tim came by to give me a plumbing assessment. His assessment was thorough and honest, and helped me to understand what might later become a problem. We have used A#1 Air for years to care for our heating and air conditioner needs, and are happy that we have the same trusted help with any plumbing requirements.

They wanted to charge $1850 for a coil under warranty. They did not look for a leak. They even said I was under warranty. I called another company they came out looked for a leak found out I had a bad part I think TXV and that is was a little over charged. It cost me less than 500 bucks for labor part and service call. Don't do business with these people.

Sam A. Has to get The Most Courteous Award. After arriving promptly and introducing himself were Where else can I park to be out of the mailperson s way? I ve never seen a service provider care about the convenience of another before. From there he proceeded to perform the Spring Time checkup. Every minute was professional and informative. At the end he communicated all of the system reviews and where there was room for improvement. He concluded by asking for a review. Not begging or brow-beating just a request and he earned it. Call and ask for Sam.

called A1 air because the company we normally use could not get out in a timely matter. A1 air came out with in a few hours of calling. Their Tech Matt Sistruck was very nice and took the time to show me everything that was wrong and gave us options. I couldn t climb into the attic so he even took video of the system so I could see what he was trying to explain to me. No one had ever shown me the issues and explained to me what was going on like that before. Matt gave us options for new systems and repairs. He made us feel very comfortable with our decision. We asked him what system he would buy and he said he would take the time to explain each option and what the difference of each system is because when it came down to it we had to pay for it not him. We just thought that was great... system is working great and we are glad we called A1 air that day. Customers for life.

The entire experience was top notch, from the sales and office people to the install (complete new HVAC system). Victor and his crew were absolutely incredible, I believe they went above and beyond to do their job; they were competent, knowledgeable and very hard working as a complete team. A#1 air may or may not be higher priced than others, but the money I spent on them appears to be well worth it; Thank you Don E.

Thought I might be having a problem with my HVAC unit so I called A#1 and they promptly sent Ryan to check things out. He asked some questions - understood my symptoms and went to work checking my unit. I appreciate the speed and quality of A#1's service. You want peace of mind and the ability to get quality HVAC service when you need it they can't be beat. Thanks Ryan !

They have wonderful employees but they have internal communication issues. I had the second of of two annual HVAC maintenance. They did try to purchase a new 2 visit service plan for next year without completing what I already paid for. Huh? When 2nd appt. was scheduled I purchased a 'discounted" electrical safety visit. It's a service I wouldn't recommend or purchase again. The techs spend more time writing up recommendations for additional equipment and services than they do the actual services I paid for. They also go through a lot of pictures on their phones. Are they actually of my equipment? Recommendations: $2600 in AC add-ons, $2668 of electrical add-ons. This included $268 for add and install 3 smoke detectors? A-1 markup margins are way out of line. A-1's priorities have changed from service to selling add-ons. Disappointed in recent appointments.

Just had a repair done on my HVAC unit and Roy from the Carrollton, TX location was awesome. He was very knowledgeable, informative, friendly, and gave me an all around excellent experience with this company. I signed a membership agreement as a result and I am beyond satisfied. Definitely recommend him and the company overall!

I ordered a basic cleaning. It was $100 just for them to attach a giant vacuum to one of the ducts for 20 minutes to suck up the loose particles. As it was getting vacuumed they started with their sales pitch on a deeper cleaning. They quoted me $49 per vent and $299 to clean my HVAC unit. With 12 vents and taxes the total came to $1200 for my 1500 sq ft house. NO THANK YOU. I pretty much just paid $100 to get a sales pitch thrown at me.

Very happy with A #1 Air!

Very happy with A #1 Air!
I called early on a Saturday morning, tech (Sergio) came out and diagnosed the problem. Our 12 year old Trane was on it's last leg and the evaporator coil had a major leak! We both could see the leak in the evaporator coil once the case was opened. Sergio gave me a price to replace the evaporator coil but also suggested (wisely) the system really needed to be replaced, it used R-22 being phased out in 2020. With the price to replace the evaporator coil and still have a 12 year old unit, we decided to go with a brand new unit. A #1Air sent out a sales rep that same night, it was 10:30 pm and Cameron came out and stayed until 11:45 going over all the details, the freebies and also 60 months free interest, I signed up! Less than 48 hours later, with the help of installers Paul and Ron, our unit is cooling our house and making life comfortable once again!
Complete 5 stars from this home owner regarding the folks at A #1 Air, from the dispatchers to the service tech to the sales rep to the installers, we couldn't be happier! Our unit came with a full 10 year parts and labor warranty and I would highly recommend A #1 Air to anyone looking to either upgrade or repair their AC unit.
I will say the first tech from a different company came by and was willing to charge us $350 to "gas and go" our unit without even offering to diagnose why we needed 2 lbs. of R-22 at $125 per pound! He was more interested in just making a service call and moving on, this tech WAS NOT FROM A #1 AIR!! After reading a lot of the reviews for A #1 Air, both positive and negative, we decided to go that way.
The installers lined our carpet and tile with drop cloths and everything was totally cleaned up before they left. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The team over at A#1 Air was great from start to finish. It was easy to get an estimate with upfront costs. The team that came to install the new units was fast and did quality work. The only thing I wish they did was to confirm the installation the day before. I called up the morning of the install and was given a time frame though.

I give One star because I can not give ZERO. Wish I could give a negative number. My wife was home alone when the service tech arrived. We had a service performed on our a/c unit and everything worked fine before Emanuel Nino arrived. After being at the a/c unit for nearly 45 minutes, now the a/c unit does NOT work at all. He returns to say that he found an issue, but it will cost $840.00+ to get it working correctly. He also stated he was going to set her up with (NOT recommend, but set it up) another service plan to 'make sure this doesn't happen again'. My wife said no to all of it and said she will speak with me when I get home. I arrive and we call A#1 back and complain. They send another tech to us. He is at the a/c unit for about 3 minutes, returns and says the other tech left a connection open in the box. He reattached it and WOW... THE A/C WORKS NOW!!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!! We mentioned what the other tech, Emanuel said and this tech said that is completely unnecessary, everything works good now,. What we dealt with was one of the shadiest scams by an Air Conditioning Tech. Preyed upon a woman home alone and does something minor to make the unit fail, but for several hundred dollars he can fix everything... then reconnect the wire, or whatever he did and turn in a high ticket invoice to the company and he in turn gets paid for the work. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and any and all Corporate personnel with A#1 Air. this is sad, simply because we have used A#1 Air for nearly 10 years, and never had an issue until now. I find Emanuel Nino to be very dishonest and preying upon a woman home alone to make a high dollar repair, when no repair is needed, shows extreme lack of character and morals.

Love A#1 Air!!! Les got here about 10:30pm after a very busy day already. AC was not working on either units. He redid the wiring so both units would work properly with no issues. Took the time to figure out what was causing our issue on both units. He was so concerned with making sure we had AC since our temp would be in the mid to high 80's for the next week. Couldn't be happier. Highly recommend and becoming a VIP member is the way to go and so worth it. Thank you Les and A#1 Air!!!!!!!

We have been faithful customers for over 11 years. I highly recommend the whole house air purification system that we invested in a couple of years ago. I was slightly skeptical but no longer reach for Flonase allergy medication on a daily basis. Our air is much cleaner and I wish we would have made this purchase years ago. I have not had a sinus infection in 2 years!
Over the years we have been happy with A#1 Air. Recently we were displeased with a fluke accident during a service call. The team of customer service professionals reached out to us so quickly to take care of the problem. The level of professionalism and response was remarkable. We will continue to be loyal customers. I highly recommend this company. They take care of thier customers.

Our AC went out unexpectedly and we called A#1 Air and were scheduled immediately. The customer service representative explained to us that it might be late in the evening before someone could arrive but we were okay with it. They called a couple times to keep us posted as to when they arrived and with the utmost respect and professionalism. When the technicians arrived they were very courteous and professional. They came in and began working immediately. They inspected, troubleshot and repaired the problem within 20 mins. Our house was cooling before they left. Thank you Courtney and Matt for coming out late to help us stay cool! A#1 Air will be our go-to going forward.

Had them come a while back to my mother in law s house in Dallas. The unit had a refrigerant leak. The tech charged my mother in law $900 for about $30 worth of 410A refrigerant and told her it would be another $500 if she wanted him to search for the leak. I went over myself, found and repaired the leak and recharged the system. Not sure if this was a rogue tech, or if these guys get paid commission or if the whole company rips people off all the time but we will never call them again... People like this are why most people don t trust contractors.

Our AC went out - 9 years old - a little before it...

Our AC went out - 9 years old - a little before its time. I called Milestone and they came out and said we needed a whole new unit. The price was so high it prompted us to do a little research online. The men who came out were very nice and professional, but ultimately A#1 gave us the identical unit, matched their whole estimate for warranty etc... and was $2,800 less. Needless to say we went with. a#1. Toby came to give us the estimate and was great and patient with our questions. The men who came to do the install were Raul and Juan - both very nice and professional and they worked extremely hard all day on a very hot day. Naturally time will have to tell if everything is working perfectly but so far so good! We would never have wasted Milestones time if they were higher but same ballpark. $2,800 savings was just a new ballpark.

Lastly, my husband and I know that other companies would have done this job for even less than A#1, but we wanted to go with a very established and accredited company that is likely to be around to handle any issues that may crop up during the warranty period.

We have been subscribers to the A1 monthly service program for 4 years now, although I am planning on cancelling that subscription based on the most recent interaction.
One of our AC units was not working well, the temperature was a few degrees higher than we had it set on the thermometer. I called A1 to come check it out. One nice thing about the monthly program is you get bumped to the front of the line. An A1 rep came out that night and checked the unit. He claimed we had a capacitor out among a couple other issues, and the the only answer was the unit needed to be replaced. He also claimed that because we have a unit that takes R22, and because R22 is being phased out, that it would become much more expensive to service the unit going forward. To replace the compressor and the fan motor it would be $3,678, or he could have a comfort adviser come out the next day to sell me an entirely new system.
With that second comment I knew he wasn't being totally truthful. You see, it is true that the plan is to phase out R22, but there is so much R22 in stockpiles and substitutes flooding in from China that the price of R22 has actually declined significantly over the past year. Look at the stock chart of HDSN, an R22 reclamation company, for an indication of what's going on with R22.
In any case, I paid the service fee and said I'll think about it. I called for a second opinion from another provider and that person came out the next day. He looked at the unit outside and in the attic and told me the units outside just needed to be cleaned as the intake filters were clogged with debris (grass etc), and the filters upstairs needed to be changed as they were old. He took care of the whole thing for $375 and now the system works great.
Long story short, A1 tried to sell a long-time customer a load of nonsense for a small problem that required very little work. It's absurd. I'm planning on cancelling my subscription service ASAP. Very disappointed as I had previously viewed the company positively.

On Wednesday August 10, 2016, I called A#1 since my system was blowing out hot air. The tech came at around 10:30 AM. He took maybe two to three minutes and said that the valves were shot and that I would need a new system costing around $7000 and add another $2500 for a new furnace. So basically, he took a quick look at the system (when he came back inside, he wasn't sweating and had no dirt on his hands) and ripped me off for $99 for a "service call."

I then called another company who said I simply have a bad capacitor and replaced it and had the system up and running in 15 minutes for $210. He also said that when the time comes to replace the system, he quoted me about $5500 for a 4-ton Trane. I also asked him about the valves and the furnace and he said that there was nothing wrong with them.
