The hotel was nice, service was pretty good for the most part. We went to the luau they have at the Westin, we we're really disappointed. We sat down and recieved a lei that was made of shells that had a made in Philippines sticker still on it. Then preceded to get served luke warm food that was served on paper plates. The food and service at the luau was very unsatisfactory. Would not recommend this luau, especially for the steep price of $175 a ticket.

You really shouldnt put people right next to the elevator when you know youre going to work on the elevator for two days. Constant banging and loud noises for hours. Awful experience for such an expensive

We are staying in a deluxe ocean view room in the Beach Tower. The room and the view are fantastic. We're on a high floor, far from the elevator so it's quiet and lovely. I definitely recommend this category of room. My review is 4 stars and not 5 stars because of the food. I am vegetarian and this beautiful resort that caters to families and couples alike, does not really cater to dietary restrictions. There are very few options at all for a vegetarian on any of the menus at the resort and I was told that nothing could be made off menu either. We are here for our babymoon and wanted to spend the majority of our time just relaxing at the resort. But, now we're having to venture out to find food... so that I can eat more than just the singular veggie burger everyday. Just something to be aware of when selecting this resort.

I can't say enough great things about the Westin Maui Resort. The views from your room are incredible! The landscaping, ponds, pools, and amenities where exactly what we needed. It was a short walk to the beach and several restaurants. Plenty of bars and areas to drink. The staff was extremely friendly and even when the battery on our room door lock died, the staff took great care of us. I would highly recommend staying at the Westin!

Everything about this place is paradise. Service is good, resort is clean and wonderful. Snorkeling off the beach with SEA TURTLES! Also saw plenty of fish, an Octopus and an Eel. Our travel agent booked this trip a day in advance and said we'd love it. We do! Family friendly and great for adults/couples.

Room was great and grounds were beautiful. As with all resorts in Hawaii, prices for food/drinks were expensive, but that's too be expected. Self-parking lot was very small /cramped, but they will valet your car for free once it fills up (which it apparently does every night).

Very disappointed! While checking in agent was friendly. However while checking in other background agents were making jokes or comments about us locals coming to stay because we have received our tax returns...(because were locals) However they also misinformed us about our rooms having 2 queen size bed, which were two double beds when we got to our room. Then Checking in a bunch of bell staff staying around no one wanting to help except for one for the elderly men. He went above and beyond to take care of us. He helped us unload. He parked our car came back and brought our stuff to our rooms. He even went and got ice and brought it back with the biggest smile. He treated us like we were actually guest at the hotel and not just locals.i wish I got his name.. called for a rollaway bed didn't receive anything. Next day I called again for a rollaway bed and there were a charge of 30$ of which they didn't mention the night before they just simply said ok a d hung up. 2nd day of calling I asked why was I told my beds supposed to be queens sized beds and doubled she rudely said because this wing doesn't have any queen beds. She mentioned we had already upgraded you from mountain view rooms to ocean view room (which I did not request) she rudely also mention well you are in a reciprocal rate you know like I'm some lowlife don't deserve the service. Like someone who didn't have a reciprocal rate. Spoke to a manager a d she mentioned she'd waive all fees but couldn't waive the rollaway fee. ( during checkout fees weren't waived) during our stay we had 4 rooms all together two were reciprocal and two were paid in full price. While at the pool Friday attendant kept walking pass us as we were waiving for menus we literally had to chase her down for a menu. While ordering she saw some guest turned around and talked to them as if we weren't in the middle of our order. (I think we spent more money then any guest didn't at the pool) Saturday however a different story we went to the kids pool earlier got some seats near the kids pool with sprinklers. Whoever the pool attendant was that day a mid 30s guys probably Filipino was so attentive made us feel so welcomed like we weren't just some randoms there at the hotel. Also the two local girls in the towel booth were the sweetest. Also. Because we were locals other workers were looking at us like we were pool hoppers or something even at one point one of the ladies were taking a picture of our group sittingg near pool. Two what looked like managers were standing in a corner near us staring at us for a while. We spend the whole day at the pool ordering food, and drinks all day long. Leaving or end bill at about 350 and a other about 150-200 on mostly cocktails. We did have a medium size cooler of water for our children maybe that's why they were staring at us. But are we supposed let our kids dehydrate??? We were guest at the hotel like any other guest that were there. We felt violated. We felt like we weren't welcome, because we were locals and not tourist... we are very generous tippers for great service amongst the whole stay there were only 3 people that I could say made us feel welcome. Made us feel like we actually existed...bell men older Filipino guy maybe a out 5'7 or 8 Friday night shift 645-
745 the older gentlemen out of the group working that night. Our pool attendant at the kids pool on Saturday. And a local girl working in towel stand....thank you treating us with ALOHA! WE WOULD MOST LIKELY NOT RETURN TO THIS HOTEL...VERY BAD SERVICE OTHER THEN WHATS MENTIONED. UNCOMMUNICATION BETWEEN WORKERS, DEPARTMENTS, AND STAFF... really needs ti reevaluate the aloha spirit. Stop the gossiping at front desk especially while not being discreet....!!!!

AMAZING! My husband and I just stayed here in March of this year for an anniversary trip and we loved this hotel. The photos online don't do this place justice. I loved how the lobby is indoor/outdoor with the view of the beach and pools. The flamingos and swans are a nice, interesting touch. The pools are beautiful and kept very clean. The rooms are comfortable and cozy, and the bathrooms are nice as well. I liked the open layout of the room.

I also liked that there was plenty to do in the immediate area and we didn't have to drive far to find fun restaurants and great public beaches when we wanted to wander away from the hotel beach, which was very nice in and of itself. Black Rock Beach and Lahaina Harbor are both very close (BRB within walking distance) and the snorkeling there is awesome. So beautiful.

The only reason I gave this hotel 4 stars instead of 5 is because of housekeeping. We were there a week and spent most of our days out and about, and by the time we came in to shower and get ready for dinner around 4:30 or 5, they still wouldn't have cleaned our room. Twice we actually had to track the maids down and ask them to clean our room and they would seem confused as if they didn't know why it hadn't been cleaned. Then when we would come in at night the bed would be made very sloppy, like it was an afterthought. Overall though, I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Seems to be a great family hotel.

The biggest thing for me was their customer service. On our last day our flight didn't leave til 10 pm, so the hotel extended our stay til 7 pm that evening for no extra charge, which impressed me very much.

Great hotel. Great experience.

Walked in to the aroma of stinky fish in the lobby. Stood at overcrowded desk for 20 min while staff described our only choice of room was going to be loud because of construction and not a good ocean view but if we wanted better than we could pay $50-175 more a night...definitely not high end experience! Was like a timeshare sales mtg. Felt like grand central station with people walking through in bathing suits, no shoes or covering. Got out of elevator to ripped carpets, small hallways and metal doors. Pool and beach were way overcrowded!! Not a luxurious or exclusive feel. Have had better experiences at Holiday Inn! Expected way better from Westin. We are cutting vaca short and leaving ASAP.

I'm staying here right now in July 2015.
The property looks generally rough around the edges.
The place shuts down after 10 pm.
Only one option for a drink at that hour - the disco bar where the young crowd dance about to high volume techno locked safely away behind closed doors with no risks being run of any contact with the Hawaiian night air.......
We paid 24 dollars for 2 mai tais and retreated to the beach bar, which was thoroughly closed, and then one of the staff started cleaning up with a high pressure hose.
The toilet in my room seems to be at risk of producing it's own Hawaiian "waterfall". Fingers crossed on that one.
The handle on the bathroom door is hanging down vertically with a screw loose.
The walls are thin so we can hear the folks in the adjoining rooms.
The balcony is dirty with a pile of sand having been swept up into a corner.
The parking costs an extra 20 bucks a day.
There is also an additional 25 dollar a day "resort fee".
I'm paying over $2200 USD for a week not including these extra hidden charges.
I'll leave my readers to work out if I'm recommending this "Paradise" or not.

Overall our stay at the Westin was good but there were definitely pros and cons.

Pros: beautiful lobby (flamingos, koi fish, etc), photo ops with birds including free digital photo, shell lei at check in, convenient mini store with everything you may need, great splash pad area and shallow pool for kids. Also loved how close we were to Whaler s village. Maybe a 3 minute walk off property to restaurants. Also a 6-7 minute walk along the beach to Starbucks.

Cons: Basic rooms are EXTREMELY dated with double beds instead of queens, construction throughout hotel (not noisy just things closed like a pool), long walk and inconvenient towel stand for pool towel service

So we reserved a one bedroom suite with ocean view and off course we paid about $250 extra per day, about $700 per day, when we got there they told us you have been upgraded to beach front one bedroom villa so we were very happy. The gave us our keys after half an hour and we went to the room but the key did not open the door so we had to go back about 5 minutes walk in 100 degrees temperature to ask for the key again (card) then after another 30 minutes they gave us another key and when we got to the room the view was the back of the pool towel shack. It was very disappointing and we were mad and we decide to leave and cancel. After another hour they gave us an ocean view room that took about 10 minutes walk to get there.

One of the best vacation hotels I have ever been to. This hotel is rated as the highest redemption rate on SPG website. It offers an insane value for points. Definitely value you as a platinum member. If I am back to Maui, I will stay here again. The breakfast buffet is nice, the view from my room is amazing.

Great property. Huge beach, great sand. If Platinum- they really treat you right: free parking, upgraded breakfast- more. Connected to string of SPG properties along a 2 mile corridor of Ka'anapali beach. Grounds are beautiful. Next to Whaker's Landing with literally 70-80 shops.

Beautiful scenic resort with a beautiful beach, but definitely dated, parts currently under construction as well. Our patio was filthy and has left over hair from the previous stay. Get ready for the fees, because they add up quick. Resort fee, parking fee, towel fee, Cabana rental fees.
Would most likely return after a renovation.

I do a lot of Christmas Decorations and shopping for clients who stay here every year for many years. They all have nothing but good things to say about their experiences. The staff is Top Notch and always very friendly.

Got upgraded to the newly renovated suites, with lana'i access. Was told upon checking in that we would have access to the Lana'i lounge, however when we tried to enter the lounge, we were told it's only for customers who booked that room or we could pay $250 a night extra. We really love Westin properties, but after this experience we are questioning that...the biggest issue is that the room we are currently staying in says "Lanai Access" however, we were refused access. Seems like a pretty big marketing issue

If you don't mind the resort fees and resort atmosphere that comes with it, then it's a great place to be. Snorkeling, swimming, paddling, and almost anything that can be done at Maui can be done. Except maybe volcano viewing and whale watching. And the food is pretty good, although a bit pricey. You won't be disappointed by the customer service either, so if you've got cash to burn and kids to distract, then have fun!

Ocean tower is a must. Great service and resort atmosphere. Breathtaking views of one of the world's greatest beaches.

Partial ocean view was our room designation. First was a bad one, then moved to #847.

Pools are nice and plentiful. Adult pool and a couple others. Try the happy hour from 7-9 for reasonable cocktails.

Very nice hotel. The birds on site are very entertaining. The breakfast buffet was great and the hotel offers a $5 green coupon for every day you skip your room cleaning service. The coupons are used as cash at the restaurants or spa on site. Not on alcohol though. :(

Currently at the hotel. It was -40C at home, so this is absolutely fantastic! The hotel is currently under renovations and the work hasnt affected our stay at all. This is the third time we've stayed at this hotel and I'm not sure about the new rooms. They're very pretty but not as functional as the old ones. The rooms are missing storage (food, clothing, toiletries) and areas to dry wet clothing. The shower doesnt fully close so its impossible to shower without getting the floor wet. THere's an HVAC system in the room, but it only appears to work on air conditioning. When we first arrived, the room was close to 19C and we badly needed to warm up after a cold plane ride. We ended up just turning it off.

Our boys are 12 and 10. The adult pool is currently under construction (along with the restaurant/bar), so that doesnt bother us, but the idea that adults are the only ones who like hot tubs is a bit silly. The one and only hot tub is for adults only. There's a new kids pool area, but it targets toddlers, leaving only a fairly plain pool for our boys to enjoy.

All the staff is very friendly. Everything is well kept and clean. This is the least busy we found the hotel - likely because of the renos - but that shouldnt dissuade you.

We'll be back, but hopefully there's a hot tub for tweens when the renos are done.

Loved the upbeat attitude of the entire staff in spite of the conditions in our country. Breaks my heart most of these hard-working people will be laid off. The resort is gorgeous. Check out our photos. Nancy and bill

Hotel is under construction and does not feel like a Hawaiian experience - I would stay at another resort like Hyatt Regency down the street. Definitely not worth the money or your time to stay at this Westin. Normally you walk into a hotel and are blown away by views and decor - at Westin you get plywood walls (painted) in lobby blocking view of construction mess and you start thinking "I made a mistake booking this hotel".

Beautiful resort with updated rooms. The pool area was perfect for our young kids and the food was excellent. All the staff we interacted with were helpful and friendly. We had a great experience.

we arrived at this hotel around 2pm and the manager wouldn't let us check in early... We called and asked as it was a long flight and they stated it shouldn't be a issue. Then during our stay the power was out one night as they " had to complete work" they offered to move us for the night which was a joke... They also nickle and dime you for EVEYTHING! we disputed our charge for $110.00 for use of paddle boards we couldn't use because the water was choppy. At the end of the day please stay somewhere else this company doesn't value customers and families... The cost to what you get is horrible. our stay was a little over 6k for 8 days. then they charge you for beach chairs... really stay away.

Dont trust this place as they double booked a room for one guest while we waited for our rooms that were canceled by them. We even called ahead, had our confirmation number. - Terrible experience. Ava the manager is helpless and should not be a managing position.

first time to Westin Maui Resort , it is expensive for 600 per night including tax and fee , but it is really a one way stop at Maui that you don t need to go anywhere else . They have pool for kids and adults and next to beach and have shopping and restaurants in neighbor plaza within 5mins walk distance . The ocean view from window is amazing and the beach sunset is really beautiful definitely will be here next time .

One of the best hotels in the Kaanapali beach area. They might not be the biggest, but don t let that discourage you. Their service is top notch, rooms and common areas are well maintained. They even have a hospitality room which serves as a place to rest for a few minutes, or take a quick shower after you have already checked out. I will definitely consider staying here again. The decor on the inside of the rooms could be better.

Hotel was under renovation during our visit but that had zero effect on our experience during our stay. Staff was incredible and so helpful. Concierge helped us book a road to Hana tour which was amazing. Breakfast buffet is the best on the beach. Definitely should order the banana split from room service during your visit. Views from the hotel were amazing. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Me and my boyfriend spent 10 days at this hotel. Our first room had 2 twin beds, although we had asked for a couple's room. We thought it didn't make much sense to spend 10 days in a room we couldn't even sleep together comfortably, so we requested a room change. They moved us to a room with a queen bed and next to 3 elevator wells. Needless to say we slept and woke up to engine sounds every day. The hotel also doesn't have a real coffee bar, only a very small Starbucks shop. The only restaurant there is good, but I recommend you exploring the nearby food options or taking the hotel shuttle to Lahaina downtown. Lots of exercente options there! Don't forget to eat all the fish you can! :-) The hotel staff is really great, friendly and professional! There was a very strong storm on our third day that caused a blackout in the whole Island for almost a day. The staff just kept going with the necessary clean up and tons of patience in a hotel full of bored guests. After the storm, our snorkeling trip got cancelled 3 times due to brown water, but one of the concierges was able to find a clear spot for us on our last day. Thanks, Jeff! The beach equipment is quite overpriced. They charge you a $75/day for a 2-chairs, plus an umbrella set. The long chairs with the sun cover are $150/day. We found a place in Lahaina downtown that rents beach umbrellas for $15/week, so we got one of those instead. If you are thinking on renting a car, the Avis rate was the best we could find and a shuttle can pick you up at the hotel in 5-6 min and bring you to the agency. Quite easy and simple.
