Stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon. Was disappointed to find out there had been extensive construction going on, the Marriott app did not list anything when I booked. Also no self parking as advertised because of the construction. They tried to charge me for valet but ended up waiving it. The staff and people were great! In particular Dawn at the front desk was helpful and pleasant to have a conversation with. Chris, one of the managers, diffused the annoyance of the noise in the room, caused by the construction, by adding a credit to the room. The pool area is the best that we saw in Maui!

Great place, the rooms and grounds are first class. We have been coming here for 15 years and it never gets old. Some of policies on rooms, but overall we love the place. If you're an owner, be prepared for the "owner review", which is really just an opportunity for them to try to sell you more time. That's about the only thing I'd grade them down on.
3 stars for ocean towers building but 4 stars for beach towers OCEAN FRONT side only . This place is Undergoing renovation and you can hear it daily from al areas except beach front beach towers location . spa /gym moved , and small , some areas closed w boards blocking access, extremely noisy so I upgraded to ocean front within an hour of my stay at high floor of the ocean tower ocean view room and it was the best thing I did !!! From ocean front you cannot hear any of the noise all you hear is ocean waves and really feels like vacation . The ocean towers building w carpet coming up from floors , rooms look old like a motel 6 w chipped desk , beds not comfy . But Beach towers were beautiful new everything and bed so so comfortable . I will stay here again only in a beach front in beach tower . Ok maybe I will give it a 3.5 . Once renovation is done and if they renovate the other building and get better food at Relish , then it will define be a 5 . The adult only section is amazing !!!
So far the worst Westin experience and probably worst hotel experience ever, way over priced, book through chase platform, and they said they don t know about the price and don t even want to offer any explanation, hotel is under remodel, noisy, take a very dirty way to lobby, breakfast is bad too, recommend no one
We stayed here for a week and loved it. The grounds of the hotel are very fun for kids to explore. They have an amazing set of pools and a big water slide for extra entertainment.
Beach front family friendly hotel rt next to lelani s on the beach and whalers village hotel has 3or 4pools 2,with water slides for the kids and is a super family friendly hotel lots of activities for families staff is very nice rooms are clean and it's beachfront I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming Maui 2 thumbs up Jason
We have stayed here many times and this time is the only time I would ever classify it as anything other than outstanding. Things got off to a rocky start upon check in when the type of room we reserved was not the room we were assinged. We are here on our 25th wedding anniversary and definitely did not want to double beds. In all fairness this was not.the fault of The Westin as it appears our travel agent did not include the notes I was very specific about regarding room choices and amenities for our anniversary. Valerie at the front desk was able to get us into a king room beginning night two. Valerie should be promoted to management as her demeanor and customer service skills are among the best I have ever seen, and I can speak from experience as I have staff at work that must be very customer service oriented. I have stayed at a lot of higher and mid level hotels this year for work and pleasure and this is the first one where we have not been greeted with a warm welcome each time we enter the door. The valet staff at the front door is only friendly and welcoming if you are using their services. This is a great missed opportunity for the Westin to make a great impression everything a customer enters the property. As I have said we have stayed here several times and this time is noticeably different in that overall staff friendliness and attention is lacking. They are eager to push timeshare presentations but other than that they don't seem very interested in interacting with the customers. Today we spent many hours by the pool and struggled to get any service from the poolside waitstaff. When we did finally get some help it took 45 minutes for our drinks to be delivered (and they were horrible), mind you the pool was not very crowded and there were many chairs empty. Our server would only make appearances every 30 minutes or so. We did see another server on the other side of the pool hustling to take what appeared to be very good care of her customers, so maybe we just had the bad apple of the day. Our seat neighbors were also not happy. This is only day 3 of our 10 day visit so I will update as things progress. We are going to visit some other properties and possibly look for another place to stay next year if the level of service remains the same for the next 7 days. I am hoping that things return to the old Westin Maui service level we have come to expect and enjoy.
Absolutely love this resort! Went 2 years in a row because we loved it so much! Amazing open design lobby and breakfast area with pond and coy fish and birds. Clean rooms with beautiful views!
- high noise level due to construction going on in premise which they could have made aware during booking. - poor insulation between rooms as you can hear pretty much all the conversation happening in nearby rooms
Pros: As of Nov 2019, about half of the hotel is updated, great views from the beach, nice pool areas, friendly staff, and will be top notch once the renovation is finished.
Cons: $30/night valet only parking, $30/day resort fee that the hotel will comment pays for worthwhile services but does not, in fact and will ultimately prove to be illegal and deceptive. Because it is deceptive pricing. Temporary gym is pretty pathetic although I m sure the renovated fitness center will be very nice once done.
Beautiful island and I d love to come back but I probably would not stay at the Westin again. So they made an extra $60/day off of me but they lost a return visit.
my wife and i stayed for 5 days in feb 2020. it is a great hotel, great service, beautiful grounds and beach. shout out to couple of people that were very accommodating and gracious. both at the registration area...elaine (works afternoon shift) and joven galiza. hope to return in the near future.
A quick summary: I gave this hotel 4 starts as it stands out from the rest because of what's on the outside (5 stars) more so than what's on the inside (3 stars). For the outside, you could not ask for a better location in the heart of Kaanapali. You'll find the best pools here (there are 5 to choose from, including kids-focused and adults-only pools), incredible landscaping (waterfalls, koi fish, and flamingos), and great food/drink options (there's even a convenient Starbucks on the premises). For the inside, you could ask for better. We had a superior king room with full ocean view, which was breathtaking. However, the room itself felt dated, dirty, and slim on amenities. You're in Maui though so this should not be a deterrent given you'll spend most of your time outside. Self-parking is very easy and makes it less of a headache to get in and out for adventures around the island commpared to valet. The check-out process was painfully slow and almost made us late for our flight. It would be unfair to rate the customer service experience though given the increased COVID-19 precautions during our stay. I can't say whether a typical visit to this hotel would include top-notch service as some of the restaurants, tours, fitness options, etc. were at limited capacity or closed altogether. Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel for families or couples - you won't be disappointed!
It has been a good experience thoroughly. Very close to a shopping district, good restaurants nearby, located directly on the beach. Activities directly outside the resort including parasailing, snorkeling, paddle boarding. You can rent Cabanas and lounge chairs by the water and near the pools. The only downfalls of the trip we could think of we're some of the pools being closed due to the renovation and there is only valet parking which runs $30 a day. Other than that this is a family friendly resort with plenty of activities and things to do. I would recommend staying in the beach tower as it has the best views of the beach.
Attended a Luau and waited in line for over an hour nice wait staff should have not waited as Buffett style. All seats had a great view of a good venue.
My review is delayed in that we checked-out 1 week before the USA shut down for the pandemic. Our 1st time staying at this Amazing resort (my husband & I for 8 nights) Since it's been awhile I'm going to make this quick and easy by saying that; Awhile ago we were lucky enuf to be able to spend a week+ in Bora Bora at one of the sickest beach resorts in the world, the Four Seasons Bora Bora. We had as much fun, ate just as well and were all around pampered nearly as well here as we were in BB. At night it's especially beautiful & Very romantic, esp down at the Amazing world-class resort pool.+++It didn't take 30hrs!!! of flying to get here & it was about $800 less per night as the 4S. If your considering a trip to Maui whether it's just the 2 of u or your entire family.. Def stay here. You will (Ohh and really nice winter whale viewing at the outdoor terrace breakfast) Gb
This is the place to be. Stayed here in Oct of 2017 and was really happy. Pools are great. Beach is fantastic. No rocks on their beach line. Highly reccomend.
They had a special offer that said "Marriott Bonvoy Exclusive Offer, includes 35 pct discount off in Relish Oceanside" later I was told breakfasts are not covered in special offer. There was no mention in please see exclusions to this offer. They never gave the 35% off the meals after weeks of going back and forth. I would give them a negative number if I could. The staff at the restaurant were horrible and very rude.
Simply magical. It was like being at a dream resort. Loved the water falls and water slide. Great service. Everyone was very nice and helpful. I would give this place 6 stars if I could
My husband and I rented the presidential suite FOR OUR HONEYMOON. We arrived around 9PM the night of our wedding after confirming multiple times with the staff about our big day. When we arrived, the room wasn't ready. This meant we had to sit around in the lobby for close to an hour. Why our suite wasn't ready at NINE PM is beyond me, but my newly marital bliss made me all but blind to any problems .... at least, initially.
Once we were finally allowed into our room, we walked into a dark, ridiculously hot and dated "suite." It looked far more like a corporate set of rooms than the "romantic honeymoon suite" we were promised. When we asked why the room was so hot, we were told it was "probably because the AC was broken." While my husband was on the phone with the front desk, I went to use the restroom. This didn't happen, however, because the toilet was full of fecal matter. FULL of fecal matter.
Disgusted, I joined my husband on the phone call to the front desk and demanded we be moved to another room. Right about then, there was a knock at the door. It was the valet coming to deliver our bags as well as my wedding dress, which was carefully hanging in a garment bag. The problem was ... I didn't see my wedding dress. After a couple of questions, another valet arrived carrying a plastic storage container that resembled a trash can. He turned the container upside down and DUMPED MY WEDDING DRESS ON THE FLOOR. I burst into tears.
THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED. I still can't believe it.
Long story short, we left immediately and ended up renting a condo down the road at 10 o'clock at night. Avoid this place at all costs - AT *ALL* COSTS. Head to the Ritz Carlton instead - I wish we had!!!
went for the breakfast buffet. a variety of food ranging from an omelette station to miso soup.. all the things you might want for breakfast were there. my fav was the bacon fried rice.. super ono.
Cons: Upon check in they tried to give us a room with 2 double beds when we had a reservation for a king. The reservation was made in May. Had to "battle" with the front desk to get a king. What resort has double beds?? Had to ask for soap. After we decided not to go to a sales meeting with the Westin sales rep for the Westin Nanea, our credit card was charged $100. Towel cards to get towels at the pool?? You have to get a wrist band to us the pools. Really?? This is a resort! Make sure you turn in your towels to get your towel cards to turn in at checkout, otherwise they charge you! Our room was only made up once during our one week stay. Never got clean towels. The parking lot was very tight. Narrow spaces. Don't try to park a Jeep or SUV. Outrageous resort fees!! Pros: Beautiful resort. Adult only pool. Great beach access. Great bed. Plush towels. Nice room. Courteous staff. Text messages to see if we needed anything. Free shuttle service to Lahaina. Beach boardwalk that connects to several resorts and restaurants.
We always have a great time when we stay here it s a beautiful resort with fun sides for the kids and the best Lava flows on the island in my opinion!! The rooms are clean, the property is clean. The spa is so nice that even when we stay at other places in Maui we still come and get a massages at their spa and to eat at the Relish!! I love the Relish!! Best poolside food ever I actually think the quality of food is amazing and they have Gluten free buns and FRINCH FRIES in a dedicated fryer!! Love this place!!
Amazing ocean view of a perfect beach which was never crowded. Friendly staff, clean rooms, comfortable beds, and a great luau. Highly recommended and would definitely go back!
We walked through the hotel to catch a shuttle for a sister hotel, and was in awe of how beautiful the premises were, and how friendly the staff was. Smiles and Aloha from every person we walked by.
I ve been here 3 times and unfortunately their service delivery has gone downhill. My partner and I arrived on time for our stay, however when we went into the room that they were giving us, the room wreaked of mildew and the carpeted floor was entirely wet. My partner went down to the lobby to inform the concierge (Daryl) of the matter, and Daryl gave him a new key to a different room and told him that the room would be the same floor plan/room type that we paid for. However, when we then went into that room we not only found that was nowhere near the same room type/floor plan, but it was extremely smaller in dimension and did not give the view that we paid for (ocean view). So we went back down to the concierge for an update on our dilemma, however this time Daryl s approach to us was attitudinal and defensive (never once offering up a simple apology for the mishap). I completely understand not wanting to deal with the same issue, however if he were to place himself in the perspective of the customer (my partner and I), he might have been better capable of understanding our scope of the matter. We re literally still sitting here in the lobby waiting for a room as I type. Very poor response to problem solving on the staff s end.
I absolutely LOVED this hotel. I stayed here for 7 nights. The staff was always very friendly and the rooms were always clean. The hotel is walking distance to a shopping plaza stores include (LV, Pandora, Lululemon, Coach etc.) The pools and hot tubs were amazing. There is also a Starbucks in the hotel. I would definitely stay here again.
This hotel has Gorgeous views facing the ocean with very friendly staff. Had a mommy/daughter trip to this resort back in 2018. It s very close to shops & restaurants. Although it s pricey we can t wait to go back!
Came here for a wedding. Food was exceptional. Staff very professional and friendly. The ceremony was held on the beach. Theres a good amount of passerbys who stop to watch, but were respectful. If you have the budget and are looking to have a wedding or event here, then this may be the venue for you.
Overall, the hotel was in great need of some TLC. It did not meet our expectation of a Westin property based on the ones we have stayed at before. The carpet on the 6th floor was rippled needing to be stretched or replaced, one elevator was out of order our entire week stay, the women s restroom near the Relish Bar had the wallpaper ripped and coming apart. The adult pool area was basically under construction. The sounds from the Chain saws cutting down trees and the noise from the building of temp walls was less than relaxing.
Beautiful atmosphere. The staff is all quite friendly. Only problem I had was that the concierge recommended two hikes, one of which was lame and the other which they should have known would be completely washed out and unhikeable due to rains.
I just got back from bringing my mother to Hawaii for the first time, and we had the most amazing stay at this resort. This trip was a gift to my mother, and The Westin made it 100 times more special. Before coming, I read so many negative reviews-mostly about the construction-so I was a bit nervous (the resort never hid the construction as others have said, if you spent just a few minutes researching the hotel you could find everything about the construction.) I spoke to one of the managers multiple times and he continuously updated me on the construction and offered to help me move to a sister property if i wasn't comfortable with staying here during construction. He reached out to me at least once a month leading up to the trip to update me and check in. I am so glad I didn't move! We arrived at the hotel and pulled up to valet-which was the smoothest, best run valet I have ever seen. I had read beforehand that there was only valet, but I thought the self parking was going to be ready by our trip, but no biggie really. The minute I pulled up, someone was opening our doors for us and helping us unload our luggage. They did charge $30 for valet, and $30 for the resort fee (every resort charges a fee so it wasn't really a surprise) but when I went to check in, they told me they would waive the resort fee for me and I would only have to pay the valet fee. Then, when we got to the room, we realized they had upgraded us to a garden view room. I had booked a mountain view room originally, so I was thrilled with the upgrade to the garden view room. We could hear the waterfalls and the waves crashing, and we had a beautiful view of the garden and the ocean! I then emailed the manager to thank him for everything he has done and for making our first trip so memorable already. He then gave us a $100 resort credit and told us to have lunch on him! From that point on, our stay was nothing short of amazing. We ALWAYS found pool chairs when we went to the pool each day around 1pm. There were always a ton of chairs available. They have a pretty good system with the towels, where you trade your towel cards for towels and then when you are done, you swap the towels back for your towel cards. We never had to wait in line to get towels and it was always quick. The construction was nothing. I saw them working on some stuff once in a while, and heard some construction while out front waiting for my car, but it really wasn't anything that disrupted our vacation...it was minimal and didn't take away from the vacation at all. We never waited more then 5 minutes for valet. Generally, they had our car pulled around within 2 minutes, but during dinner time it took 4 to 5 minutes because it was so busy, but everyone in valet was so friendly and it ran so smooth. Beds were comfy, staff was amazing, friendly and helpful, and the food selection was good. Prices were on par for a resort, nothing I didn't expect-resort prices are always higher so just keep that in mind. The entire resort was kept up with and always looked beautiful. Housekeeping was great and very friendly. I really don't have a single complaint. Just know that this IS a resort, there WILL be resort fees and things WILL be expensive. This is how all resorts are-especially on an island. I also walked through a lot of other resorts on the island and truthfully, the Westin is the most beautiful, well kept property I found to be honest. I would have chosen the Westin over most of the resorts I saw, and I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Even though it was a resort, breakfast and swimming pools were a bit disappointing. If it's not a honeymoon, a hotel with a good value for money would be better.
One day ago we have returned home after spending 6 days at this resort. The beach front was lovely. We paid $15 for a beach chair for 2 hours on the beach. The Relish Burger Bistro served horrible food and it was very expensive. The in room dining breakfast was disgusting and very expensive. The spa area was too small and the sauna was not available due to out of service. The hotel staff could possibly be more friendly and helpful. The hotel needs to wash the pillows due to the mildew smell. Our hotel room was often cleaned late in the afternoon.
Beautiful location with wonderful pools and beach access. We had some difficulties and maintenance issues with our room, but they were resolved quickly and efficiently.
