The resort is clearly nice just too big for us. We had to stay here for a night because we had to cancel the drive and nights stay in Hana. We liked the extravagant pool for late night swimming but wouldn't find it relaxing during the day. We stayed the rest of our trip in Wailea beach and really liked this area for the blowhole and DT Fleming beach with the surfers.

Gorgeous but... Customer service is really bad. Servers are nice but rarely pay attention to you if you order the buffet. Not much hot water for first three days. Wifi mostly didnt work. Calling ahead for your car to be pulled up doesnt work. Hotel staff barely call back when promised. We arent coming back.

I do hope this review ends up on their website. We wanted a relaxing vacation after working hard all year. My boyfriend works construction, and after arriving to the hotel we realized our entire stay was full of construction. We were VERY disappointed.
There was only one pool for the adults to use, the other two were under construction. This made us unable to find a seat almost our entire stay. There was also construction going on elsewhere, so we couldn't enjoy the entire resort, plus the noise and cursing from the workers never gave us the feeling of peace and quiet. So we decided to stay away from the hotel as much as possible.
After complaining to the hotel, they offered us a -$600 credit to go towards the hotel or activities. This in our calculation worked out to be 2 free night stay, so we put it towards the hotel.
As well, after our flight being delayed a couple hours they had to cancel our reservation and re-open a new one. They ended up charging us less which was nice, and they ended up working out a refund back from the booking website we originally went with.
Sure enough as we get home and reviewed our receipt, I saw the $600 credit, but there was no refund of the $800 they had promised. When we left they told us it would take about 7-10 business days to be returned, however 3 weeks later there is STILL nothing. We reached out to one of the hotel supervisors, however all he could tell us was they apologize. I can't believe it! A promised refund not returned? EXTREMELY disappointed as first time visitors to Maui. I would highly recommend NOT booking with this hotel. Out of all the places we've stayed this was the biggest disappointment.

Great pools, great beach, and a great hotel. Updated bathrooms are amazing and the view of the beach was fantastic. Parking was a slight pain but other than that, it was a perfect visit.

Ocean view room was worth the upgrade. Overlooking whalers village with nice restaurants. Swimming pool was good for kids with slides. Had a waterfall like setting with flamingos, fishes and a swan. Was a bit noisy in the morning as they are expanding whalers village. Will recommend and visit again

Not worth the money, unless you are here for a convention. Understaffed, dirty, and over priced. JUST CAME BACK. Large check out so they had a skeleton staff, closed the ocean side restaurant and no ground keepers to keep things clean. There were no poolside servers so you had to order lunch, and/or drinks from the bar. No main restaurant past 5:30, even though it was only a hamburger place. Yet they charged me the full price as if fully staffed. The front desk said they could do nothing it wasn't there call. The pool and beach facilities is owned and operated by an outside company even though they wear the Westin Logo shirts. When this happens the hotel has no responsibility to help their guest.Food very mediocre. there are so many better places that treat you llike a GUEST. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN.

Stayed here the first week of October 2017 for our honeymoon. The resort located in a beautiful location. It is in Ka'anapali which is the dessert of Maui so you can expect little rain. Right next door you can access Whalers Village with a lot of shopping and dining options. There is a walkway along the beach to Whalers Village and it takes about 1 minute to get there! :) The lobby is open air and has a waterfall as you enter. There are all sorts of exotic fish and animals inside the water. Front desk was very courteous and helpful. There are multiple pools (one adult pool) and the landscaping is very plush and made you feel like you were on a tropical vacation.

Things we learned:
- This side of the island isn't the surfing side. The waves aren't big, but the current is strong!
- Relish and Relish Oceanside are totally different. Relish Oceanside and Relish serve the same breakfast in the AM. Relish Oceanside has beautiful views and you can be seated from the Relish host stand. The breakfast buffet was VERY big and delicious. Changed a little each day. $30 per person, but we got ours included in a Costco package. At night they serve different menus.
- Towel desk didn't open until 8am and wish us up and out early we had to wait until 8. The time change made us wake up extremely early. Chairs fill up quickly but we were always able to find chairs.
- Beach Chairs/Umbrella cost $50 per day.
- Tons of Conceirge desks throughout the hotel! I MEAN TONS!
- Craft Vendors were inside the hotel lobby every day selling things. It was cool.
- They had daily feedings of the birds/fish each day. Look at the schedule!! :)
- They use a text messaging system as one way you can communicate with hotel for ALL Your needs from bringing your car up from valet to requesting more towels.
- Self Parking is included in $30/day resort fee but if it's full you take your car to valet and they will park it for FREE.
- Safety Deposit boxes are located at front desk and are FREE.
- Request a Hospitality Suite if you are leaving later in the day (on checkout day). You can request a 30 minute window and it has a couch and shower so you can have a full day at the pool/beach before heading to airport. It books up early so plan ahead.
- CHECK OUT FRONT STREET! :)
- Some people we saw rented paddleboards from an outside company for a week and paid a week's worth of paddleboarding for the cost of one day through hotel! :)
- A soda is $5 per soda
- Having a rental car was awesome because we loved going to Front Street and exploring the island.
- Has shuttle service to other Starwood Properties to enjoy their restaurants. Hotel said we didn't have pool privileges at other properties.

Things to Improve on:
- Rooms/carpet were nice, but will be ready for a refresh soon.
- More restaurant options on property (even though Whaler's Village is next door)
- Better bar areas (Fun spots to hang out). The Hyatt had a fun, happening bar area with happy hour specials.

This is usually our favorite holiday destination worldwide, BUT, to today we checked in and the hotel is under extensive renovations and much is covered. Also forced to pay $30US a day for Valet parking when normally there was self parking available. No option now.

If your considering staying here book in 2020 when complete.

Very nice hotel. The lobby is a fantastic open air area with a waterfall and a pond with flamingos. Multiple large pools and easy beach access as well. The room I stayed in was solid but unspectacular. Things I didn't like: long wait in line to check in and required valet for cars. Overall, a great place to stay.

The facilities and room were all great. The large central water ponds with well placed plants, koi fish, flamingoes, and other animals are well done. Multiple swimming pools add to the natural flow of the grounds. Everything was clean and maintained well. Landscapers gave out bananas they cut from trees on the grounds! The jogging stroller are hard to come by but finally got to borrow one for a run near the end of our trip-- they had plenty of umbrella strollers available to borrow during the stay though.

My husband and I went on our honeymoon here just last week only for 2 days. The resort was very nice and amazing looking, I felt really fancy staying there, even though it was on the higher end of price we wanted to stay somewhere nice since we figured we wouldn t really be doing this again, or all to often. The rooms were really nice, we had the view of the hills/ garden area I believe. After fees and everything the room was about $400 a night, I realize it s on a tourist island so nothing is going to be inexpensive. However we were kind of disappointed with the fact that in paying the amount we were per night it did not include complimentary breakfast, but if we wanted to purchase breakfast it would be about 30 bucks a person. Also you have to use their valet parking, which the gentlemen were all very nice and informative about places to eat outside of the hotel that aren t to expensive or things you can do on the island. The valet parking is an additional 30 dollars per day, and you have to pay a 30 dollar resort fee each day you are there also, which I think all of that is kind of ridiculous when nothing else is really included because we didn t get the more expensive package deal. I loved staying at a nice place and enjoying the beautiful weather and everything around but I don t think I d be willing to pay that much money again to just sleep in a room and use the pool for a few hours

I've had good and marginal experiences here. The property and location are great. On-site restaurants are decent, but not amazing. Pools are good.

There are a lot of options for resort stays here on Maui, so I guess I'm a bit jaded and expect perfection.

Phenomenal resort. The decor and the service at the resort are amazing. The beach is beautiful with a smooth sandy bottom for swimming. Thank you Westin for such a great experience. We can t wait to come back here :-)

Prices for everything are very high compared with nearby shops. They rushed us through the luau, taking down dessert before we finished dinner and shooed us out of the room without any time to socialize.

From check in to check out this place is a disaster. Restaurants are a mess, the food isn t great, service is poor, valet is a 30 minute wait, the shuttles are overfilled, the rooms are small. I could go on but the point is you have a lot better options on Maui for your money. Try Grand Wailea is my suggestion.

First off, there is a $30 a night resort fee.

First off, there is a $30 a night resort fee.

Second, the hotel is currently being renovated and guests are forced through mazes of construction zones. One whole tower was shut down, causing most rooms to be down graded from ocean view.

Upon check in, I was greeted with a nice shell lei. The front desk insisted on sending champagne to my room since I was there for my honeymoon.... no champagne was ever sent. Nice gesture with zero follow through.

I wouldn't recommend staying here while it's still under renovation.

Not all the pools were open at the time of our stay because of construction, huge inconvenience, the noise the dust ,the place doesn't offer parking not even if u wanna pay only valet parking, no microwave in the rooms !!
We were there for a whole week and one of the elevators in our tower was not working and each day they said they working on it ,all in all it was a very dissatisfying experience

On Friday, September 22, 2017, my wife and I arrived at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Ka'anapali, Hawai'i almost near midnight as we missed our flight at the Los Angeles International Airport, California earlier that morning.

I was already irritated upon my arrival as we spent the entire day getting rerouted to the Kahului Airport so we can make it on time for my Brother's Wedding taking place the day following.

The Westin Hotel is a beautiful open resort as when you walk in, you see the pools and waterfalls with amazing plant life. You continue on seeing the flamingos and there currently sleeping on one leg and countless koi fishes. Check In was pretty quick as we were the only ones there during that hour of the night. We got an ocean view room, high in the tower and could not have asked for more especially with the temperature of the island making it perfect for us. You can only imagine how exotic it is during the day when you can see the crystal blue water of the ocean to the neighboring islands. It's truly an amazing experience, especially when it's our first time in Hawai'i.

There is an employee that really stood out during the entire check in process and in fact, during our entire stay whom deserves recognition. Peter Lino was the first person we made contact with at the Westin in Valet. He took our luggage and valeted our rental. He just so happened to be the same one bringing our luggage to our room. He was extremely professional, courteous and polite and made sure we were fully satisfied. He offered to get us ice and even went over the after hours room service menu. I was just impressed with his knowledge and thoroughness. It really allowed me to relax and to start enjoying my vacation in Ka'anapali.

I want to say thank you Westin Resorts for having an employee like Peter. It is the great customer service like this that will have us retuning to your resort in the near future.

Wife and I stayed here on our honeymoon several years ago. We have since been back 2 more times, and have a 4th visit lined up soon here. We always stay at the Westin. I can't really comment a ton about the rooms as we honestly we never spend time there. In 3 visits totaling roughly 16-17 days, beyond sleep, probably only spent maybe 3-4 hours total in our room? Most of that is probably in the shower to clean off sand/sunscreen. We use the hotel for its location near Whalers Village and restaurants, the fantastic outdoor pools, Newman the black swan =) , and the private cabanas you can rent for the day. ($100 to have a private platform 12x12 with padded lawn chairs, shade, and wait staff refilling your drinks for the whole day? Hell yes.)

One of Aleece great pre-plan hotel communities that offer a lot of activities on the premises. From kids pools to adult pool in the 50s and a very close proximity to the oceanThis property offers a pretty nice list of things to do. The staff was very accommodating and cordial. Try to get a room with an ocean view. If you plan on staying at this resort you may want to look ahead about a year! I would definitely recommend renting a car if you plan on staying for more than four days as the island of Maui has a lot more to see.

2 stars max for the insanely loud fake waterfall that runs 24/7 (the noise is unbearable!), for the $30/day resort fee rip-off and the $35/day valet parking rip-off. Pool layout is ok but no kids pool.

I was pretty disappointed this was our 37th anniversary . I left my jacket with my Ipod in the car was gone the next day. The valet moved my rental car with my wife in the car dented the door . They did except responsibility for it but that plus the jacket. Had my wife in tears.... I was disappointed that I had spent a good deal of money through Costco to plan this trip. The package includes the car and the hotel but you get there and they want your credit card because they want to charge you a resort fee of $30.00 a day which I thought covered parking too but oh no that's an additional charge of $30.00 a day also . ( you have no options for parking except valet) I sure would have like to known that before getting this package. Or Costco include that in the package. Additional charges close to $400.00 surprise. The staff is nice. The room was smaller then I expected for the price. No Bath tub which was another
disappointment for my wife (crying again) apparent bathroom remodel.I must say that the concierge that we talked to Katherine was an awesome help and helped us salvage what was supposed to be our special trip. I will probably not return. You will do better with an Air B&B or VRBO no hidden charges.

Save your money and stay somewhere else for the same price or cheaper. This hotel had one thing going for it, it's historical value, and that is all. Rundown exterior in back, rooms are tiny, sink is the size of something you'd expect to see on a fishing boat. Music in the courtyard plays pretty much from 5pm-1030pm every night. This is fine, except those nights you are exhausted and just want to go to bed early and get a good nights rest. Floors and walls are thin. Was kept up every night by the people above us moving around. Not crazy moving around either to warrant us calling front desk. Pool is tiny and beach is over crowded with people that aren't even staying at the hotel. Hotel seems to cater to weddings when we were there. Hotel staff could have been friendlier and more welcoming upon arrival. Housekeeping and maintenance guys were very friendly. My biggest disappointment was getting food poisoning from the Beach Bar chicken wings, which I'm 100% certain about. Had them at 830pm by 1am I was vomiting uncontrollably for several hours as well as on and off the following day. I stayed in my room all day long, which was a bummer bc my girlfriend and I paid to rent an umbrella and 2 lawn chairs $55 by beach. She went out for a couple hours bc I made her, so she didn't need to take care of me. Upon check out I explained to management what had happened and simply asked if they could just remove the $55 charge(umbrella chair rental) for me, seeing as their food caused me to lose a whole day of my vacation(and wasn't fully recovered for about 48hrs) Not a crazy request, right? I didn't want to make a big deal out of it and thought that was a reasonable ask. Managements response was I needed to talk to security and file a claim and have them investigate it! Said, "my health was of their upmost importance and this is why I needed to go that route." Basically, we don't believe you. Needless to say, I was checking out and didn't have time for all that. I wish I did, bc I was extremely insulted by the way I was treated. You're a 4 star hotel and I'm paying good money a night, not trying to rip you off, just simply asking the $55 charge be removed from my bill out of the principle of the matter and show of respect and sincere apologies for your kitchens screw up. Extremely disappointed and ruined my day how it was handled. Finished off our vacation at Westin in Maui and it was 10x's better in all aspects and was run like a top notch hotel. If the property management is reading this you should really start taking more pride in this hotel, it shows you don't.

You have to pay for towels and chairs in the beach. If you leave your chair with a towel for one hour they will take it. You only have a certain amount of towel cards that if you lsoe you have to buy another. And someone on my trip had problems getting the room they needed.

Overall we felt like we made the right choice picking the Westin compared to other nearby hotels for the same price. Staff were friendly during COVID and we were able to secure a high level room in the ocean tower with amazing and beautiful views.

Pros:
- Location - right next to Whalers village, with lots of restaurants, shops, and an ABC store.
- Ocean view rooms - Almost all Ocean Tower ocean view rooms had an excellent view of the pools and ocean. Room size was decent with a empty fridge provided as well.
- Walking distance to Lahaina (45min) with a shuttle running a few times a day.
- Probably the best beach location of the hotels in the area,, plenty of sand and areas to lay down, but be aware the winds are high in the afternoon almost everyday.

Cons:
- Chair reservations are OUT OF CONTROL. People wake up in the middle of the night to reserve and staff do not care. By 6am most good chair areas are reserved, even though people won't then show up till 10am. Pool towel card system is abused. Very few chairs with umbrellas. You have to pay to use upgraded shady areas or chairs/umbrellas/boards on the beach, such a shame for an upscale hotel.
- Get reservations for restaurants way ahead of time, most places booked out days in advance.
- Due to COVID the shuttles are only taking 12 people -- if it's full before the shuttle picks you up, you have to wait another hour for the next shuttle.

Overall we were happy with our stay, we would suggest paying the extra amount for the ocean views. But the extra fees and daily $40 resort charge that is not included makes costs add up quickly. Such a shame for a upscale hotel.

Currently still here at the hotel. Sheets had brown stains on them. Hotel robe had makeup on it from someone. Children everywhere or people here probably from Fresno California. Construction heard early every morning. Felt like an even more ghetto version of Disneyland. All the staff was lovely though. Worst Hawaii experience of my life.

For my stay, the hotel lobby was under construction. This was unfortunate because the beautiful lobby and waterfalls we saw in photos were covered in ugly temporary walls. Also, because of this the vallet was crammed over in a side lot and was surprising if it was able to fetch my car in less than 10 minutes. Aside from construction issues, our shower had mildew and our room had ants. However, the staff was very kind and eager to make our stay better. The pool area was still great and fun to relax in. Overall this stay was bitter-sweet.

BEWARE heavy construction today. Several machinery assisted jack hammers, backhoes, trucks, lots of workers with concrete saws. The place shook and rattled. No place was safe from noise. Spoke to management and recommended notify customers when this heavy work is going to allow them to make alternate plans. Got a big sorry sir but they don't know construction's schedule. Very poor customer relations. Check out the pictures.

This place was cool.

This place was cool.

Pros:
1. Location. There is so much on and immediately adjacent to this location to keep one happy. Shops, food, adventure, beach.
2. Atmosphere. This place has that balance between chic and laid back Hawaiian tropics.
3. Amenities. This place has cool pools, an outstanding beach, reasonably priced high quality restaurants, an excellent fitness center and spas. They also have free digital photos per room, if you want to capture your family trip to Maui. Their Wi-Fi had good speed.

Cons:
1. This goes for Maui in general, but the place shuts down a bit early. The pools stay open to 10 pm, but the restaurants close at 9, except for the bar.
2. Some of the rooms overlook the adjacent Whalers Market and its parking lot, which can get noisy in the morning with the deliveries. You can still see the beach from these rooms, too.
3. I had a little trouble with some of the "Express Service" functions. I called for more bath towel, they never came, I had to go get them. When calling "Express Services" expect it to ring at least 8 to 10 times before someone picks up.

The employees at this facility were very nice. They go out of their way to help you with whatever you need.

If coming back to Maui, I'd stay here again.

It is a good hotel for families with multiple pools, including one for kids with sliders. The beach in front of us was not good for snorkeling because there were waves and not many fish, but if you walk a little you can go to Black Rock so you can enjoy snorkeling there. There are more waves in the opposite direction and surf watching is fun.

I can t recommend this place enough. We started off the trip with a valet picking us up from our other resort for free, and upon arrival were greeted with leis. They also upgraded our room for free to get us into a room 4 hours before our actual check in. Later, after a VERY MINOR situation, Jeff and Chris absolutely showered us with accommodations to make up for our time spent to correct the situation, including free late check out, a waived resort fee, credit to spend at the resort, and yet another incredible room upgrade. All the staff was so friendly and helpful, location is amazing, it goes on and on. You HAVE to stay here!!!
