My wife and I absolutely loved our visit, the Gateway Arch is a spectacular structure which dominates the St Louis skyline, the ride to the top in a pod was quicker and more enjoyable than I thought, the pod holds 5 people, we had good company in our journey to the top, once at the top there is an opportunity to view the surrounding landscape from both sides through numerous glass viewing points, the views overlooking St Louis and beyond are spectacular, a photographer's dream on a clear day, which we had for our visit, when back on the ground we enjoyed discovering the museum, it provided a history of St Louis and the building of the Gateway Arch, I would definitely recommend and in my opinion was value for money

This thing is certainly worth going to the top of if you are visiting the city. There is a really nice Lewis and Clark museum at the base where they explain what boudin is. However, don't dress in some kind of crazy costume, or the security will search you like they did my friends when we went one time.

What the tour guides won't tell you is that the entire structure is designed as a weather controlling station. I don't know how it works, but I don't think it is doing its job as the weather is never pleasant when I go to St. Louis.

One of those few American icons that is actually larger in person. Magnificent structure. Free museum was quite nice of St. Louis. Tram ride to the top is special, but budget yourself an hour for that.

Oh wow! I have been here before. I think aura of the Arch is amazing at night. Also go up the Arch. I don t know if there is any reason to buy ticket in advance but I did. Tram that takes you up is really small and if you are claustrophobic then you might want to reconsider. Windows on top are really small but it s worth getting a shot from top.

If it is busy and you want to go up buy your tickets as soon as you get there. We went to the museum first and then went to buy our tickets. Our tickets would have been for 3 hours later. We had several small children with us and it was around lunch time so we ended up not getting to go up in the Arch.

The wait time to go up into the Arch was long, but there is a wonderful museum and cafe to help pass the time. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved participating in the junior ranger program

I have been here a few times in the past but was too chilly to explore too much. Today was nice and hot, great for walking. What a great view from the top of the arch. Reasonably priced fast getting to up and back down.

Must-see, National Treasure, when you're in St Louis area. Suggest you go early in the morning, and during the offseason when possible. Absolutely fantastic place to visit, super photo opportunities from the top. Not to be missed.

Great experience. I ve been to a lot of national parks, but this is definitely one of the best. Definitely head up the arch, but arrive early so you can explore the interactive museum below. Your kids will love it.

worth the trip! Don t miss this iconic landmark. The adjacent museum is fabulous. The arch itself a marvel of architectural magnificence. Ride up in the pods is classic fun and the views incredible. The area is under some construction as they expand and improve. Stroll around and enjoy the entire area. Fabulous!

Really neat to see. They fixed it up since the last time I was there. They have more of the history of the settlers coming, & the Mississippi river. They also have what the elevator looks like that you ride up. But if you don't go up in it, they have what it looks like up in it. They do check for weapons and such.

The Arch was cool, but I expected a little more. It was beautiful from the outside. The people leading the groups did not seem very knowledgeable nor were they overly friendly. The intro movie did not provide a whole lot of interesting information either. There are no windows on the ride up or down, just white walls. And windows at the top were super smudged.

Definitely a place worth traveling to for sure. One side was under construction when I went so I didn t get the chance to go into the arch when I went since it was a holiday weekend and was pretty busy. But the grounds around the arch were clean. Parking wasn t to far and was only $5. There is a lots of trails to walk around the arch to get to it and along the river front was a pretty walk. The carriage rides are a nice touch as well. There is also some vendors at the bottom of the steps in front of the arch for some food and refreshments as well.

The new renovated museum is fantastic. The artifacts and displays tell the story of early westward exploration and expansion. Worth a visit for both locals and visitors alike. Be sure to ride the tram to the top of the Arch...the views both east and west are memorable!

For a slim-looking arch, it packs lots of history and activities inside. The view from the top aside (which is awesome. you go through the door to your capsule seat and roll your way up -don't worry, not literally), it's beautiful inside the arch! The museum is within the arch which I never knew about and have so much things you can learn/read. Definitely got my money worth it!

Definitely worth the $13 to take a trip up and check out the views. The tram isn't nearly as scary as its made out to be and the area around the arch is gorgeous. Took less than an hour for our whole visit barely any wait time.

The new visitor's center looks really nice and the overall experience was great. Unfortunately the tram ride to the top was a pretty negative experience. We bought tickets for a 3:45 tram but didn't get on until 4:25. There was no explanation not apology - in fact the staff working this area was very unprofessional and left a pretty unfavorable impression.

Awesome thing to get your picture with. The gateway to the west is definitely a sight to see. You have to back up really far if you want to get everything in the frame. It is really a lot bigger in person than it looks like on TV or in movies or pictures. The thick galvanized steel is hard as a rock too. This was a great memory.

It's a monument of St. Louis what's not to enjoy. It was really busy when I went with my wife however everyone was super friendly and did what they could to keep everyone moving along. The only caveat was the small entrances to their "escalator"? to the top being I'm a fairly large man.

I went to the Arch about six years ago. I also stopped by a few years ago while they were doing the construction. The new layout of the park, and the updated museum inside were all done very well. I last stopped by on July 4th and the entire area looked great. It was extremely easy to navigate, and the added security to enter the arch put my parents at ease.

A nice visual treat for the entire city, its a pure bonus that you can actually go up inside and look out. It is quite the experience getting into the little pods and taking a diagonal curving path up to the top. It is a bit cramped inside and feels claustrophobic, or at least I imagine if you dont like tight spaces and other people being in your personal space you might get annoyed... but its kinda part of the fun, almost like you are going into a submarine or some kind of nasa space capsule, and after a few snaps of the camera and several minutes to soak it all in, you are on your way back down... worth a try!

Amazing view and service!
Walk-around the grounds and marvel at the beauty of the sourounding area and then take a trip 700 ft up and see the sounding grounds as a bird.
If you stay in a hotel near by you'll see the best and worst advertiser placement ever.

I went here years ago when my oldest was about 11. She's 18 now but what a great experience. I am afraid of heights and claustrophobic. It was worth facing the fear. I didn't stay up long as it sways and too many people lol. But great view and we have pics and memories. Highly recommend and would do again.

Love this place. So much to explore since they added the museum. I took my family here a week ago and it was great to see their reaction to going inside and up to the top of the arch. Definitely a sore to see.

We didn t have time to go up to the top, but did go through the museum and gift shop.

The museum and around the arch itself above ground is free, but be prepared to go through security if you do go to the gift shop, museum or tram to the top. This includes removing jackets and putting metal items in bins, going through a metal detector. It s not TSA level, no removing shoes or a body scanner. Staff overall was helpful and friendly, the museum wasn t huge (underground after all), but well done.

We went a few months after the name was changed and it became a National Park, so there still was a lot of merchandise with the old name.

We are so happy that we took the time to visit this amazing site. The visitor center at the base of the arch has so much to share! There are several great stories associated with the arch. From the great fire, to the legislation that allowed the arch to be.

You will learn about the encounter with the alien ship that crashed, leaking toxic chemicals and had to be covered up by the 13,000 tons of cement that anchors each leg. I for one, welcome our new alien overlords.

You will learn about the lengthy process of choosing the design and the way they were able to build such an amazing structure.

In the visitor center there is a large gift shop and the restaurant has a good selection of food.

Don't forget about bungee jumping on the weekends in the summer when the weather allows!

I highly recommend this stop if you have the chance!

The arch is still terrific, but the way the trams to the top work now, it is difficult to get a ticket unless you arrive very early. For example, we arrived at 1:30 today and the next tram tickets available were for 5:30.

Amazing place to visit! My son and dad are welders so I figured it would be amazing to see what this amazing arch is all about! The movie we watched was just the right length and very informative! The arch was amazing to see in person and was cool to see all the welding up close. We went to the top of the arch in the cool little pods you climb in to get up there! You ll see from my pictures how far you can see from the top of the arch. My 80 year old dad loved it and so did my nine-year-old daughter.., and everybody in between.

Went to the fair at the arch over the July 4th weekend, and I still can't believe they had Veritcal Horizon playing in stage! Loved their music before and love them even more after seeing them in action!

We only visited the grounds and museum, did not take the tram tour (we thought our small children might be scared). It was amazing just to stand underneath the Gateway Arch! It's 630 ft tall and is really amazing to be underneath. The grounds are very nicely manicured. The museum was free, but we had to make reservations online for a time slot mid-Covid. The gift shop is the best we found in the city, and reasonably priced.
The only reason this is four stars instead of five is that there are no public bathrooms if you visit after 5:00. The only restrooms are in the underground building, which closes at 5:00, even though the park is open later. There are no public restrooms anywhere nearby. We visited with small children, and that factor really cut our visit down and we revisited at a later date, when it was open.

Visiting the Gateway Arch, a long and enduring symbol of Saint Louis, has now become more than simply staring in awe at Saarinen's architectural masterpiece, which traces its origins to 1947. The Museum located underground some distance west of the original entrance is first-class AND free. Your visit will provide you with an enlarged perspective on the earliest days of Saint Louis and its role in the development of America and its western expansion. Who knows, you may even be motivated to enter a small capsule and ride to the top of the Arch!

I loved the fact that we stopped here on our way to Texas from Spring Break. I would highly recommend purchasing tickets to go to the top before you go so that your able to go up to the top. I did not know that we had to buy tickets that far in advance as we arrived there at 8:00AM and they opened @ 9:00AM. I waited in line and found out when they opened that the 1st available ride to the top was 11:45AM so we were unavailable to ride to the top.

Very helpful park employees. The entire park area was clean. This ride to the top was a little stuffy. Once up top the views were great. Overall I enjoyed my visit. I'll be returning to spend more time in the museum.

I think the kids enjoyed the museum at the base even more than the Arch itself. We did go early in the day on the off season so I'm sure that improved our experience. The geyser park over the river made for some great pictures as well.

Iconic monument in St Louis, which looks particularly good from far away at night when it is lit up.
The view of the arch from the Mississippi Riverside is particularly pleasing, although a building by the name of "Peabody" somehow ruins the view. The view from the city side is also particularly good, especially when viewed from the park which is about 300m away from the arch.

Had no idea that there was so much history with the arch! I d honestly have to say the experience was a bit anticlimactic for me tho. I think I expected to be able to take a family photo with the city view in the background. Getting to the top only to discover that we could only look through small windows was a little disappointing. There were also way too many people up there to even move around comfortably. I m sure the view could be obtained by my hotel window. The wait for the tram ride was entertaining because our tour guide was charming. Carter was great and knowledgeable.

The arch is a must see! We did the combo where we got to go up the arch, the movie and also the boat tour! I would highly recommend the combo. Going up the arch was pretty awesome! and the movie was super interesting and fascinating. It kept our attention the whole time!

The Arch is beautiful! This is a surprisingly big visitor center and also a gorgeous museum as well! You can get your National Park Passport stamped here right at the entrance, then you walk through security which also runs your bags through.

The museum is big with a large amount of information on the history of the West as well as the Arch. It s very well done with beautiful visuals and video. The visitor center store is your normal NPS store, with all the things you are use to. Books, magnets, post cards, patches, pins. A little Arch replica is a cute item.

There is also a cafe there and plenty of sitting room. The cafe composts and recycles everything. Really, it s everything. Keep your items separate so you can throw the food in the compost bin instead of the trash one. Food is around $10 and up. Water is a whomping $3-4 a bottle. I had a St. Louis burger (pulled pork on top and more, very food), that comes with chips plus a 33.8 FL oz water bottle and cost me around $18. So not cheap but convenient because it s there. You can eat under the Arch, but I suggest going outside and sitting on the steps by the Arch to view the waterfront, it s gorgeous!

I didn t go up in the Arch, so can t attest to that but it s very cheap. Under $20. Like $13 or $15. There is a long line for each tram up. We didn t want to wait, and many friends have told me it s pretty smooshed up there with everyone but I d probably do it if I was in the city again.

There are also boat tours around the city and horse and buggy rides right from the Arch.
