Got a taxi from the French Quarter out to Tipitina's, our luck we got the only taxi driver in the city who didn't know how to get there. We saw the Saturday night show by Drive-By Truckers at Easter. First time back to Tips since JazzFest 91, I think the place hasn't change, part on the appeal! A great night. Now got the tee shirt!

My wife & I went to Tipitina's while we were in NO for a long weekend in February (Valentine's Day). We had never been to Tipitina's but we had wanted to go for some time. As it turned out, The Carolina Chocolate Drops were playing that evening so we decided to go. Since it was our first trip to Tipitina's and we had not purchased advance tix, we thought we should get there a little early. We had time to check out the whole place and take it all in. It was a great evening, both acts were very entertaining & fun. The Choc Drops definitely had a hard act to follow as the opening act Luke Winslow King was absolutely amazing. It was a great crowd and fun atmosphere, the entire day could not have been better.

Very cool venue. Even better if you are blessed enough to be in the V.I.P. section like we were. The bartenders do an amazing job for the amount of people they have in there. Bands sound amazing. I look forward to going back again in the future.

Amazing historic music club showcasing both local and national and international acts. Great show tonight of Louisiana talent. Sweet Crude followed by The Givers. So much fun in such a storied venue.

A bit off the beaten path (don't try to walk there) but so worth it! VERY cool place to see live music. If you're visiting and don't have plans some night just go there no matter who is playing!

Great spot. Nice folks. Great service. Great beer selection. However... I paid real money to see a favorite performer. Couldn't hear anything of value over the constant din of yelling crowd conversation. I thought it would simmer down once the band started, but no. It turned out to be a big loud social hall with barely legible music playing somewhere in the background. A refund would have been nice. BTW: This is no discredit to the sound guys or the band. I'm sure they did their best. But as a concert experience, it sucked.

Saw Dinosaur Jr. here the other night and was incredibly disappointed with the sound quality overall. I normally wouldn't bother to write a review, but this is about the worst I've ever heard. Although I felt that the noisy music I like suffered from extreme overamplification on poor equipment, my main gripe is that the vocals were output way too low. It didn't matter if I was right in front or upstairs where I was forced to retreat. I know it's dinosaur jr, (who i respect as artists) and I was not expecting anything that resembles high fidelity, but I couldn't understand a single word. I was staring at a staff member sitting on the stage next to the speaker and he seemed oblivious. Nobody seemed to notice or care. I can't honestly say whether its Tips or the band's equipment that I want to blame, but I saw Lou Barlow in Austin years ago and enjoyed that just fine. I'd expect that basic level adjustments to be made during sound check, and I know that didn't work out. Too bad.
