Great new interactive history section of the monument base that even kids will enjoy. Fun experience to go up and look down from the top of the arch. $14 for adults and $10 for kids up to 15 years old. Fun picture tip-there are big TVs in the entryway. Get behind them and your shadows can make funny poses with your friends. There are only a few stairs at the top (between 10-20 depending on what elevator you choose. The elevator feels more like a Star Wars escape pod, which is entertaining in itself. Definitely a unique experience. No complaints.

I was not prepared for how small the pods were. It was a cool experience going to the top of the arch, but they should limit it a little more of how many people can be at the top at a time. Got quite full and was difficult to move around to different windows to see out.
An awesome national monument complete with a free museum and very reasonable tour prices. The staff was all very courteous and helpful as well as knowledgeable. If you're in St. Louis I recommend at least checking it out for yourself
Nice enough, but does it do anything? It should at least be a part of a giant croquet set or something. I mean, it just kind of sits there, amirite? Maybe take it apart, strap this bad boy to a few trucks, and showcase it out down in Mexico or something. I could charge admission, too. 5 bucks to see El Arch de San Luis? Sign me up!!!
What an architecture. Absolutely brilliance. Tram is awesome. This View is must see place in St Louis. Superb. Museum is awesome to take pic. Make sure, you go inside before some time so that you can capture some snaps in museum.. Must go place. try to visit World aquarium in walk-able distance from St Louis. World aquarium is so great. You can touch/take snakes / many species. (World aquarium Must place to visit neat St Louis)
I haven't been here in years. The remodel they have done on it is really nice . I recommend at least watching the video on how it was built before you go up top to the viewing area. Its truly incredible how the arch was built . Going to the top is interesting for sure . The pods are little and they shift on the way up. The walkway at the top is very tight but worth it for the view. My kids had a great time and I recommend checking it out for all ages
This location is a must-see if you're visiting St Louis. You'll learn so much about the history of the city and the Arch is simply incredible. I make no exaggeration when I say that the photos do not do the Arch justice.
I do want to make one note though. The Google Page claims this location is Handicap Accessible. This is only partly true. Yes, the inside of the museum has elevators and plenty of space for a wheelchair. But there are so many stairs, especially inside the tram ride to the top. There are no ramps down to the tram, only stairs.
In addition, you cannot get a car right up to the door. The closest parking lots are still a good distance away and the nearest streetside to drop someone off is still pretty far for someone who is elderly or disabled.
Over all though, I would say this is a worthwhile trip and I would absolutely recommend you visit! Just know there is a fair bit of walking to even get into the museum and the Arch itself.
This was amazing weekend jam packed with the "free" sights of St. LOUIS, Mo. The Arch was well desined and engineered piece of history. The whole process to ride the tram was easy and fun. The park grounds around the ar cbg are beautiful. Then when you are done, you have the Western Expansion Museum that is incredible. If you are in Missouri/Kansas/Illinois, you should come see this.
I will start my review by mentioning one thing that the website fails to elaborate on. When purchasing your tickets online, which I highly recommend to ensure your spot is not sold out when you arrive, make sure you read each experience's description carefully. The Arch entry-only ticket DOES NOT get you access to go to the top of the arch. You must purchase The Journey to the Top tickets to ride the tram up to the top.
On that note, I did not read the description thoroughly and bought the Arch entry-only tickets the night before. Since we visited on Memorial Day, the arch was crowded and tickets were sold out for the Journey to the Top. Being the ambitious person I am, I spoke with Karen at guest services and was able to get two tickets up to the top. We received the tourist and newly wed treatment!
Fair warning to larger folk, the tram entrance and pods are small (as you can see in my reaction). About 4 feet tall and 2.5 feet wide. I am 6'7" 300 pounds and we fit 4 in the pod snug like with little room to spare. Make sure you request that only 3-4 people be in your pod for the leg room is sparing.
The staff were helpful and had great knowledge of the arch and the history of the surrounding area. Karen saved our visit, and we greatly appreciate for it was a wonderful experience to end our mini honeymoon weekend to St Louis!
Very interesting architecture. Make sure that you book your tickets online ahead of time during peak times. They have a brand new welcome center with great exhibits. You can ride to the top via 8 tram capsules that seat upto 5 people per car. Once on top, you can spend as much time enjoying the views. Bring your camera!
I love Saint Louis. The Arch is one of my favorite monuments. I would go on a weekday. It can be very time consuming making it to the top of the Arch..but well worth it when you get there.
The museum is awesome. The movie is awesome. The ride up to the top is awesome, but cramped, still awesome. Lastly the view is majestic and makes you appreciate this awesome country.
Absolutely must see attraction in St Louis; the wait can be long some days but it is worth it. I did not imagine that the structure of the arch would be that impressive. The service is well organized, and the staff is helpful and courteous. It requires a minimum of three hours of your time in somewhat busy visit day. Plan about 30 minutes or less for the museum inside the arch before the ride.
Iconic American spot. Arrive early. There is a new entrance on the west side of the arch. It would be helpful to plan ahead if you are going. When we went they were sold out for the day. We were unable to go up to the top. We ended up honing through the new museum. It was busy for a Sunday afternoon. There is a viewpoint across the river on the east side. It is a decent walk from parking, so be prepared if you are going with someone with mobility issues.
The Arch has changed dramatically since the last time I was there as a kid. The security to actually enter the museum and tramway is like an airport. However, it was very quick and hassle free. Once into the building, the exhibits of the museum are pretty much the same with areas dedicated to different time periods. The new lawn they put under the Arch and across the highway is very nice and makes getting in between downtown and the Arch very convenient
It's an icon, like the Eiffel Tower. The story of designing and building the Arch is fascinating and taking the tram to the top of the Arch is thrilling! Try to go on a sunny day if you can.
Didn't realize it was so tall until standing next to it, then understand what over 600ft tall really looks like! Wife didn't think we'd go to the top, but we did. Kids 14, 10, and 5 had fun, the 10 year old a little leery of the ride at first, but once up top, she liked it. Would recommend checking out if driving through the St. Louis area.
Amazing place to hang out either by yourself or with a group. They also have bicycles there. You just have to use their app and you are good to ride as long as you want. Riverfront is great too.
The museum at the bottom of the arch is worth spending a lot of time in. We spent about 15 minutes at the top of the arch, the view is amazing. The tram ride up the arch is pretty quick, but the car is very small.
This is a beautiful park. The view is amazing & absolutely breathtaking. I've now lived in STL for almost 6 years, had never even cared to go down to the arch since I drive by it daily to go to work, but with family in town they wanted to visit. Being down on The Arch grounds was pretty exciting. Once we went inside I didn't get to explore at all (my family aren't museum people) so we didn't look around, but we all want to ride the tram to the top of the Arch. It was a cool experience but it was very uncomfortable & overly crowded. I will warn you & ( this is not to sound rude at all but simply being honest so there's no discomfort or panic) if you plan on taking the tram to the top this tram is not for those who are: scared of heights, overweight, chlosterphobic, or have a walking disability simply b//c the tram is TINY! There's 8 tram cars that only seat 5 people each...literally shoulder to shoulder & knee to knee. Luckily we visited in the winter time b//c it can easily get super hot on the tram & moreso once you make it to the top. I feel if the tram was bigger or if they did cramp sooo many people in such a tiny space (instead of 40 people at a time cut that number in half) the experience would be much more pleasant. Overall other than that, it wasn't bad.
The arch is a beautiful masterpiece of engineering. Definitely worth a look while in town. The museum underneath it was really awesome too and super informative. Seems i lucked out and they had just reopened after remodeling it too. Note: if you are military, be sure to get your military discount pass while you're here.
Very nice. Great exhibits before the tram ride. Word to the wise - the ride up in the little pods is quite claustrophobic, as well as hot. It's also quite warm at the top since trying to pump cool air up 630 feet doesn't work so well. None of it matters. It's a historic site, monument, and an absolute must see.
I've been here several times and it never seems smaller. My children had fun touching the monument and running on the grass, and the entrance is beautiful. It's a fun place to visit.
Here let me say it, the most quoted tourist statement in reference to the Arch - BUT, it is true - It s Bigger than I thought!!! LOL! Anyhow though - it is tall!!! Definitely a landmark, and probably a bucket list item - for those with big buckets! But glad we saw it! The entire downtown St Louis area is pretty cool - especially the ballpark!
We made group reservations ahead of time for our large family and it worked out well. They did try to hustle you along at the top a bit, but I understand they are trying to make room for all visitors. Even though it was a rainy day, it was still an amazing view!
The park around the arch is a nice a little walking area and good place for a pinic. The museum is very cool and it pretty reasonable to go up in the arch to
So this was a pretty cool experience with a great view. There is so much history here that it would take you a whole day to get to it all. Whe you're at the top, it's quite a view over the river and downtown. Definitely worth the trip and admission
Loved the museum which is free. It is pretty big, covers early American History. The tram ride was an excellent experience. I didn't even know there was a museum or that you could go to the top of the arch! They don't have their own parking but there is plenty of parking close by and inexpensive. We parked in a garage a few blocks away and was only $2 for first hour $1/hour after that. Excellent visit!
This is one of the top 'must see' places when you are in St. Louis. I am so glad that I made the trip downtown! The tram to the top is $14, but the museum is amazing and is free. So, if you are afraid of heights or claustrophobic you can still enjoy the visit.
The arch was super impressive. Much more massive than expected. Museum which is free and very high quality has a lot of interesting info: not only on the arch, but also the history of the West (from the settlement of lands and Indian reservations to the annexion of Texas to California from Mexico), as well as interesting history or St Lewis.
Amazing and beautiful structure. It's a National Park and you can go up inside on little trams. Only 160 people at a time can be at the top at any one time. Buy your tickets early! But the grounds around it are free to stroll.
The national park service does a wonderful job maintaining this place. Though it attracts crowd the tram ride is organized. Tickets may be sold out on some days, reserve it online prior to your visit to avoid hassle. Mansion house garage parking is closest to this place. Charges you $10 for all day. Museum and the arch store inside is amazing!
Well-managed national site includes museum, park and tram ride to the top. Situated on the Mississippi River. Historic shops and eateries within walking distance of the memorial.
An amazing thing to see. Don't miss the free museum. Sign up online. I will go back again when I have more time. I can't wait for them to open up the elevator for tours again.
Something you have to do at least once in your life. Museum is nice and is very informative. Elevator ride up is unique, but crammed! All in all a bucket list must! Go Redbirds!
Worth doing at least once. Be sure to watch the movie about the construction which is incredible. Museum is free but to ride to the top requires a ticket. Only downside is how foggy/amount of condensation on windows at top as you can only get a decent view out of small portions of several of the windows and no view from others - it was rainy before our visit which may have contributed to that
Security is a pain to get through, the museum is oddly laid out and the computer displays are very time consuming. Even though I've been there before I did learn some new things and the cost of the museum is free so there's that. Going up into the Arch is pretty fun.
Very unique and interesting historic structure! My family had fun! But enjoy from down below if you're claustrophobic since the cabins are very tiny and they pack them to the max. There is one for you to get into at the entrance before you buy tickets.
After a major renovation and addition to the museum and arch grounds, the entire experience is wonderful. Gorgeous grounds year round, an interactive museum, and a new portal to the city. If you have not considered a visit to the Arch (or St. Louis) before, now is the time.
Great moment and experience for the whole family. We took the tram to the top and it was amazing. A bit nerve wracking going up, but well worth it. One area was under construction, so we couldn't go there and see more in depth information.
Beautiful park! The Arch is magnificent. Cool free visitors center and not too expensive to get to the top. I would recommend going on a nonweekend. The top was very crowded and hot.
As a national monument, it is a must stop. I do want to warn anyone who has claustrophobia, that it is a terrifying ride to the top. I'm not afraid of heights, but I hate small spaces. You get crammed into a little pod with strangers in order to ride to the top. Then once you get to the top, it is cramped and hot. The windows are very small for viewing and you have to wait turns to look out of them. I'm glad I did this as the view was remarkable, but wow was it ever a claustrophobic nightmare.
Awesome feat of architecture for the time. So many good opportunities for pictures. Unfortunately we weren t able to take the tram up, but still a great visit. A little confusing to find where to park, and the store merchandise was a little disappointing.
