STAY AWAY FROM THE TUBING!!!!! Ski slopes are great, the whole resort is great, 5 stars but again, STAY AWAY FROM TUBING! We went with 5 adults and within 45 min 3 of the 5 were seriously hurt. The employee at the top does not restrict staggered start times well resulting in high speed collisions at the bottom. which resulted in a twisted ankle and a wrist broke in 2 places resulting in surgery. HUGE snow boulders in between the lanes resulted in a third member of our our group tearing his MCL and PCL which will require surgery!
The stopping area at the base banks you back into the high speed tubes coming down the slope so its just like bumper cars. Looks fun but when 3 of 5 people get hurt it says a lot for the lack of safety here.

I purchased my lift and equip tix in advance. My wife and I arrived at 8:50AM, parked in Lot 1 less than 20 car spaces from the entrance. My wife hopped in the equipment rental line while I hit the tix counter for lift passes. After a little line confusion (there are no specific lines/queues), my receipt was tagged 9:02AM. Great. I joined my wife and bragged that there were only 17 people in front of us (outside of rental hut). Much to my horror, we hit the door at 9:33AM for the inside line of rental hut. I looked back and saw over 150 people in line behind me. I immediately counted how many customers were in front of me until we were with staff...23. We walked out of the ski rental area at 10:03AM. Perusing other reviews showed people waiting over 2 &1/2 hours. OMG. Our day on the slopes....just not a well run place. From the magic carpet to ski schools, from the signage to the nonexistent queue lines at lifts and tix counter, everything is left to itself. I did not see 1 staff member roaming the resort helping and directing staff and customers/skiers. No manager/quality control. I blame myself for not reading the google reviews and the General Manager for not reading the google reviews. In the real world, this General Manager would be fired immediately. There is likely no oversight. But make no mistake, the burn rate of customers is real. I heard negative comments at every turn, people that will never return. I will end on a positive note...I did walk right up to the bar, order an Amber Ale on draft, and had it with no delay. Tasty. So rent your skis elsewhere, ski elsewhere, and drink at their bar.

My trip to Beech Mountain was my first time skiing. The conditions were not ideal with a lot of ice and bare patches which is obviously not the ski resorts fault - Though i cannot understand why Sugar Mountain still had a lot of snow while Beech did not. Maybe Sugar has more advanced snow producing equipment? Some of the slopes had already been closed but there was one still open that probably should have been closed. It was difficult to see down the slope until you were already starting to go down it. Being new to skiing, I could not stop myself and got caught on one of the many bare patches. My ski did not release and I ended up hurting my leg pretty badly. Maybe if I were a more experienced skier, this would not have happened so I am not blaming Beech for the accident.

However, when i went to first aid to ask asked them to look at it, they only asked about my pain level which was not high by that point. Even though i described to them the manner of the accident and that my knee felt unstable and like it wanted to slide to the side, they only told me to ice it and that it would probably be fine. Turns out I tore my ACL which is apparently a pretty common ski injury. Based on that and my description, I would expect the first aid to hopefully have some idea of what was wrong or at least know my leg was not ok. My recommendation would be for Beech to ensure their first aid staff is knowledgeable on common ski injuries as well as their causes and symptoms.

Incredibly crowded and no covid guidelines followed at all. The lines to get on the lifts were packed with people not wearing masks, and there s no way the resort is limiting its amount of passes with how many people were present. They say there aren t supposed to be 4 people on a lift at a time but there were many people that were. Even inside when getting food, no social distancing and no masks. We waited over an hour to even order food at the grill because there was only 1 person taking orders for hundreds of people.
At Beech before covid, there weren t this many people even on a busy weekend. Incredibly disappointed with how management is handling covid response and the large amount of people.

We had about 9 people in our party and we all bought our tickets online a couple of weeks ahead of our scheduled time to go skiing/snowboarding. We tried to complete our rental agreement online before we got to the resort but it was a little complicated for people who have never done it before so we had to do it when we got to the resort. Once we got there, the girl that we saw to get our lift tickets was really snobby to just about every person in line. Then we got in line to get our rental equipment and my Lord I had no idea that this place was so unorganized. Only 1 person out of the 5-6 people in the snowboard rental area knew what they were doing and had answers for our questions. The other guys looked like they were either high or didn't have any brain cells. They didn't have any of the right sizes that we needed for our equipment (if you have bigger feet, rent from somewhere else cause I guarantee they're out of your size). Y'all, this place was so crowded that we only went down the long green about 8x the entire day. And we did the Beech Day pass (9am-9pm)... The slope would only take a few minutes to get down but the lines for the lifts were like amusement parks - waiting in line for 45 minutes to an hour to get to the lift. It was way too crowded at the bottom of the slopes because of the amount of people that there were. If they didn't oversell the tickets, we wouldn't have this problem. Overall, we enjoyed most of our experience on the slopes but customer service and overpopulation at the resort was really bad. IF we go again, we may try a week-day or a not so prime time to not hit the crowd.

Need to develop better and more efficient ticket system especially for snow tubing. Standing in line for 2 hours and not getting tickets is ridiculous. Small location so presales would ensure that customers got the experience they came for and others would know ahead of time not to drive over and waste half a day

1 run no snow and didn't make it when they had the weather to. Its clearly a poor management problem. It's a week later and 7 runs open and weather has been cold enough to make snow.
What I'd really like to know is how you can justify charging full price for lift tickets and only provide 1/3 of the mountain? How is sugar opening more runs every day? ( which I've never skied at) Do your job !!! Make snow and open the whole mountain!

1 year later... We tried again. Why? I don't know because we really want to like this place. It's the same story. Its Monday before new year's eve and it's in the low 30s with a wind chill of 23. You'd think they be making snow, but no they aren't! Sugar is and has been for hours. I called to ask why and they said their snow was holding up nicely and didn't feel the need to blow snow. This could be such an amazing place for Christmas vacation but they don't feel the need to put effort in to the snow making of the whole mountain. We are going to be moving on to another place for Christmas vacation.

This was our first time at Beech. We usually go to Sugar Mountain. Several things were bad:
1. They blew snow the whole day, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. It was horrible. Very miserable.
2. The staff that worked the lifts were rude. They actually yelled at people and didn't help anyone. One person fell and his boot strap was caught in the seat. Instead of stopping the lift, the worker got made that others were trying to help him get his boot strap un-caught.
3. The female bathroom had no toilet paper. Well, actually there was toilet paper. It was soaking wet on the floor because there were no toilet paper holders in the stalls.
4. The ticket booth was a small building with one person in it. Needless to say the line for lift tickets was longer than necessary.

We will probably never go back to Beech.

My friends and I past up sugar mountain to go to this horrible resort! The staff were very rude about there policy. Some of my friend were in college and went in a line for a college discount. Me and 3 other of my friend went in the regular line and got are tickets. When we all meet up and look at each of our tickets the college discount ones where all day in to the twilight. The ones me and my 3 friends had to 5 pm. We went back and ask why we didn't get an all day pass like we asked! They said that only for college people and we had to pay extra so I was like ok can I buy my twilight they said no I had to come back at 4? Really they would not take my money? I have gone to a lot of west an east resorts I have never heard of that so stupid i don't even what to call that. When we went to get our rental same story had to return them at 5 and re rent them for twilight. SO the next day we went to sugar mountain thats right down the road. The hole day we were like why didn't we come here first so much beater at sugar !!!!!!! I will never go back to beach ever again!!!!!

Overall a very poor experience. They only had 1 lift open that could go to the top of the mountain. This quickly resulted in 20-30 minute waits for 3-4 minutes of skiing. If you're looking for a fun day of skiing/snowboarding go somewhere else.

Love Beech, it's my favorite place to ski in the state. They've done a great job updating and improving over the last 10 years or so. I miss the old high speed quad and barn at the top, but still love the place. Took my kids for the first time this year and they can't wait to go back!

Very disappointed at beech mountain from our last visit. Noticed oz run was back open so we were very excited to try it. Get there before 5pm to find out its closed. Website said open to be clear. To top it off the lift on the left side of mountain not running. Definitely not what we wanted to hear considering that's where we were planning on spending our time. Attempted to grab a beer at the skybar, also it was closed. After witnessing 2 ghost snowboards fly down the slope with NO ONE on them I was done. Wasted almost $200 at beech. Unless there's compensation I'm not sure I'll go back if this is how things are now. 4 of us went that's 8 thumbs down!

Way too crowded! In line for a long time just for short runs. Too much drinking and cussing for family enjoyment! Unruly drunks flying down running into people, because so many people all over the place!

We went there today on a whim hoping for a relaxing activity and we got exactly what we had hoped for! The views at the top of the lift are gorgeous. The Skybar at the top of the mountain is such an inviting and clean place. Everyone was social distancing and employees had mask on which made me feel very comfortable. Cameron one of the bartenders was super friendly and on top of it with his drink making skills! As a whole, Beech Mountain Resort was very organized today in getting our tickets, signing the waiver and riding the lift. Every employee we came in contact with was very friendly and welcoming. There was hand sanitizer throughout the resort and the resort was very clean. The bathrooms at the skybar were spotless. We will be back next year! I highly recommend checking this place out! You will not regret it!

Beech is an outdoor super-spreader event. The resort was grossly oversold and seems to have given up on any enforcement of Covid mitigation. I went early in the season and there was decent mask enforcement. This time, there was almost none, including on the shuttles and indoor areas.

There also seemed to be almost no organization at any point, from parking to shuttle to lift lines. Complete free for all. We purchased tickets and lessons a couple weeks in advance and arrived to park and gear up about 45 minutes early. It took us 15 minutes to find a spot in overflow parking, another 30 for the shuttle to arrive, another 15 for the shuttle to wait in traffic for all the people who ignored the parking full signs and tried to park at the base of the mountain (employees here would have been helpful), and then 30 more for my wife to get her rental gear. Traxx drop off was easy and smooth.

It took 30 minutes plus to wait in the main lift lines, where masks were sparse. I get that skiing is outside, but with people packed that closely together, Beech needs to do more.

At the end of the day, we waited another 20 minutes for the shuttle in a loosely assembled crowd of people that then all surged forward to try to make it on the bus. In addition to lugging my gear, I had to make sure my kids weren t crushed.

The time on the slopes was great. Everything else was worst case, and you couldn t pay me to go back to Beech while Covid is an issue.

My Kids and I enjoy Beech Mountain live about an hour and half away and it is my families go to resort. With appropriate expectations and choosing your ski/snow board days wisely you will have a great time. Is this Colorado or Utah of course not.... but it is close and a great place to make turns .Look dont show up on a holiday weekend expecting to get a bunch of runs dont show up on a cold day and not expect snow them to be blowing snow. This is the south. Take your kids out of school a day or two early miss work and you will have the resort to yourself. Bring goggles youll need them. Have realistic expectations and you will be very pleased

The best way I can describe this ski resort is total sh&! show. This place is way overcrowded for the size of the mountain. There were skiers/snowboarders just sitting in the middle of the ski run which makes it dangerous for skiers and the people sitting down. The lines to the lift were running about 30 to 40 minutes long. If you like standing around more than skiing, this is the place for you. I wouldn t recommend this ski resort to anybody I know. If your a beginner, I would recommend app ski mountain.

Night skiing at Beech Mountain is just the best!! We took the whole family, including 4 yr old grandson, and everyone had a fabulous time. The slopes are wide enough to get back into the groove after many years. The bunny slope gave my grandson hours of fun. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

In 2020/2021 there should be no reason why all bookings aren t done via online reservation. With the restrictions that business are facing with capacity, social distancing, etc., it would work in favor of both business and customer. After driving 2 hours away, getting in line an hour prior to the resort opening, to stand in line for 2.5 hours, only to be turned away, is a major letdown. All which could have been avoided with an online reservation system. Using these systems would be more costly for the business, but I m sure just about anyone would be glad to pay more per ticket, just to avoid situations like today.

Beech Mountain Resort is the best NC destination, in my opinion. The owners have spent a tremendous amount of money on capital improvements over the last few years and really upped their game. I m very fortunate to be able to enjoy the slopes at times that are less busy, so my experience my be a little biased. Overall, the management and staff have always been very helpful. Sometimes the weather doesn t cooperate and that s not on the resort. I spend a lot of time in western NC winter and summer. I always recommend Beech Mountain Resort. Friendly staff, good food, craft beers, reasonable pricing, fast NEW lifts to the top, and great views. Come enjoy the mountain!

This is my favorite spot to ski in North Carolina. It s usually the coldest because of the elevation. I love the feel of the slope and mountain village. It has a European feel with a southern twist. The apres ski is great too with food and brews at the base. The staff has always been courteous and I can t count the number of times they ve told me thank you for skiing with them.

The people and staff were great I took our family to snow tube and the parking and facilities were great. However the tubing was lacking. We typically go to Hawksnest where it is amazing but they were sold out. Beech only has 6 lanes and one lift so it doesn t have much variety. Additionally they only let you go down one at a time instead of going as a chain. Overall good but not great

I have been skiing Beech for over 35 years and they still have long lines for lifts and buying tickets. I waited 1 1/2 hours just to buy a lift ticket the other day. They need to get their act together.

Very long lines, overcrowded overbooked slopes, poor customer service. They dont allow online booking for adult reservations. They force you to wait in lines of perhaps 100-200 people at 8am the morning of your desired event, where you may not even get tickets, as I didn't. We always plan trips well, making reservations asap, and Beech makes that impossible. We will never pay to go back there. That makes me sad because the area around the resort is charming and pretty. The slopes were too crowded for families and beginners to learn comfortably. What should have been a fun family trip ended up being an exhausting, miserable time. One positive note is that the group class instructors were nice, but the lines to eait to get tickets took hours...

I've been to Wintergreen, WV twice, and remember it being better. Many friends have recommended taking trips to Snowshoe, WV over all the others on the east coast.

Such RUDE admin staff for goodness sake! Nasty attitude .. Theresa, I don't know what else is wrong with you besides OCD (which you bragged about) but please don't treat customers with such anger and despise. Why would anyone?

Normally have a great experience but went up Tuesday night from Kingsport, TN and we get there and the quad lift was closed... the lady when we bought our tickets never said anything and we paid full price and got retails just to find out the main lift was closed.

Was not disappointed. My family and I decided to take a day trip on a Saturday. We had just visited Snowshoe a couple of weekends prior and wanted to save a little money by not getting a room. Arrived at Beech immediately after they opened and when I handed the lady my bank card to purchase the lift tickets, she recognized the bank on it and asked if I was military. I'm a veteran and have been to places that don't offer discounts for non-active military. I advised her that I was a veteran and no longer active to which she stated that it wasn't a problem and gave me the military discount. Big thanks to her.

Since this was our first time at Beech we asked a couple of the employees about the different slopes. Most were young adults who were not rude by any means, but just had attitudes you would expect from normal teenage kids. Even still they were as polite as could be in explaining.

The runs are limited but there are enough intermediate and advanced runs to keep things fun for a day. This was my son's 3rd day of boarding and after the first hour he asked to hit the blues. The greens are short and you'll spend just as much time letting gravity escort you down the mountain as you will standing in lift lines.

I joked and called Beech "rake mountain" because most of the runs end into a single slope which creates a huge hazard at the intersection. Amenities were pleasant and clean. Prices of food and drinks are reasonable. Will board this mountain again!!!

Okay so we got their, payed 400 something dollars, then got our gear and the guy said, uhh you know the ski lift is broken right??? And that was just the beginning. It was jam packed and to add on to it, after beech we went to sugar, and they had no helmets. That s 4 hours of my life down the drain.

We had a great time at Beech Mountain today. They were far more organized than Sugar Mountain and the trails were in great condition. The lifts were older and slower, but the staff was efficient at filling the chairs quickly. My wife was a first time skier and loved the wide green trails, and the Lower Shawneehaw trail which was an easier blue trail that was straight and wide. Definitely my favorite ski resort in the area.

Started coming here last season and it is really great. The kids programs are first rate and they offer Burton Ski school. Would be great though if they kept their twitter feed updated -- they seem to be slacking this year. It is a good way to quickly find out how many trails/lifts are open.

Rude guy selling tubing tickets being a condescending jerk to customers, his supervisor was even more ugly. I would suggest taking Jacob out of the ticket booth and put him somewhere he doesn't deal with people. Snow blowers were on all all day and evening. Horrible skiing experience. I thought maybe I was just being a wimp but everyone around me was pissed, even a group of experienced snowboarders next to me. Expensive and inconvenient all around. Outdated facilities. The guy renting out bibs and jackets was a sweetheart though and the guys working the tubing slopes were very nice and friendly. Won't be going back to ski here ever. Too bad because it's a beautiful area.

I cannot write enough exceptional words to describe the people and service at Beech Mountain and the Brewing Co and Grill. It had snowed and I have mobility issues but was meeting 16 others for mini reunion and to hear Scythian. Sharon at the shuttle service made sure that I not only got there but arranged help to get me into the Brewing Co and Grill. The staff in the grill...the same! Kevin escorted me to an outside door and helped me to the car. The venue was fabulous for the performance and our sandwiches delicious. I have never seen such amazing customer service and I thank you! I would go back there anytime!!!

Had the time of my life at Beech Mountain Ski Resort.
Rented all the equipment needed for Snowboarding and Skiing.
You literally can show up with jeans and a jacket and rent everything you need to Ski & Snowboard. I'm talking from the boots to the ski jacket and pants to keep you warm and somewhat dry. You can rent everything except the skills to keep you upright on the board. I was told there is a class you can take to teach you how to ski and snowboard. Did not go that route, went out and tried it for myself. Had a blast at learning on my own.

If there is no snow in the forecast.
Don't even worry about it. The resort blows snow from the bottom to the top of the mountain. REAL snow, you couldn't tell the difference if you tried. Well worth the money to check this place out.

I would give this 5 stars for the skiing and the kind staff. The 3 stars is because Beech doesn't enforce their own COVID policy. 2/6/21 - It was so packed that we had to drive around a good while to find a parking space. Tons of people on the slopes and in lift lines. Many not wearing a face covering in the area near the lifts where it says face covering required. There was even a lift operator not wearing a face covering and standing a foot from people getting on the lift. I was one of them. He was the only one I saw though. A lot of people did keep covered, but so many people were non-compliant that I heard a lift operator thank someone for wearing a face covering. Go on a weekday if you can. Enforce your own COVID rules Beech, so we can ski safely!

If you re planning on going during spring break, DONT.
So disappointing. After standing in line for over a hour to get a kid ski lesson fir our 5 year old, we found out the ski instructor called in and not 1 person would help us. Staff was rude no matter where we went. We went to sugar mountain and turned our vacation around in 1 day. Thanks Beech mountain for waisting our money and time.

After waiting over a half hour in line we were turned away. Even though the website states no entry fee is required for the brewery/restaurant we were not able to get in because we didnt have a lift ticket purchased on line before arriving. Thought about possibly snow tubing there, etc but well if my business isnt good enough, then I'll take my tubing business elsewhere. You have a published policy which you should honor regardless of the crowd size. BTW went to Sugar Mtn , Christmas day. No lift ticket needed to get in, bet they'll appreciate my business. Went into Boone to Lost Provence brewery. Great beer, great food, great service, and they weren't turning anyone away.

Such a poor experience. We bought tickets online and once we got to the resort, a parking attendant turned us away because they were at capacity. Their shuttle bus was also broken down so you couldn t even park farther away and shuttle in. We were told to come back in an hour or two. Unbelievable! When we made it in, lockers were flooded so you couldn t use them. The bathrooms are flooded so you can t use them. Walkways are icy. Most importantly, staff desperately needs customer service training. Instructors and ski lift operator on power trips and so incredibly rude. Will not return.

Very very poor display of the flag poles at the front entrance. both are leaning like theyre about to fall over and there are no lights on them at night. The flags also are stuck on the ropes going up.. Its quite Obvious the resort people could care less about them. Quite disrespectful to all those who have served our Country, I would avoid this place till they show proper respect of our colors !!

Well... Got up at 4:15am to drive 2.5 hrs to stand in line at 7:20am just to purchase tickets for snow tubing... Tickets not sold online.. NO SIGNS to direct you to go for ski tickets Or tubing from the parking lot!!!!! Very poor organization!!!! Waited In the wrong line for 40 minutes to the be directed to the correct line for tubing to the wait for another 30 minutes only to be sent away due to at capacity..... I understand first come first serve... I do... but to have people In ALL LINES try to figure out where to go with no staff before hand guiding or signs directing people is insane, frustrating and poor management... we love coming up here for all weather activities but not anymore. Hawksnest and Sugar has our business from now on. At least there you can purchase online with hawksnest and Sugar tells you even on their WEBSITE where to go ticket sales!!!!

We have been coming here for years and love it!

We have been coming here for years and love it!

2 suggestions to Ski Beech:

1) Pleasw allow lessons and tubing tickets to be purchased ahead of time and online. Make the purchases non-refundable if you need to. We ve waited in long lines only to be told sorry we re sold out . Also, could have used the time waiting in line to go shopping or getting a beer.

2) Please don t require that equipment be purchased before setting up a lesson. Again, make the purchase non-refundable if need be. Renting equipment first only to find there are no lessons available is not customer friendly.

Worst trip ever!!! It took the kids two hours of their four slope hours just two get their equipment! Over an hour of that time was standing outside in 20 degree weather waiting in line just to get inside the equipment building! The Lodge was horrible!! Very out dated and run down!! Food was outrageously priced!!! The three of us that weren t skiing were told at 9am we couldn t sit in the dining room at a table that we had to sit in the tiny balcony area. Due to lack of seating In the tiny balcony area, people were having to sit in the floor which made it dangerous when trying to move around. We have been to both Sugar Mt Ski Resort and Appalachian Ski Resort which are both fantastic. A friend was going to try out Beech Mountain Resort and that s why we decided to give it a try. Never Again!!
I only gave one star because it would not let me post this without checking a star!!!
Zero stars from me!!!!

We had a great ski day on Saturday and Saturday evening I was hit by a snow border and hurt my knee, I had a two day pass and my knee was not up to skiing the next day. They were very gracious about refunding my lift ticket which they were not obligated to do. I do think they need to come up with a way to keep the snow boarders in separate areas from the skiers. During the day we must have seen 10-12 snow boarders take out skiers, unfortunately I was one of them. Deer Valley has been voted one of the top winter sports resorts in the country for many years and they don't allow snow borders. Just saying.

The snow was better than at sugar mountain, but the lift lines were much longer. Beech is a little cheaper, but not much. Overall, if its on the warmer side, go to Beech. Below freezing all day, go to Sugar.

The mountain great. Management is horrible. The cats parked both sides of the road so the cars could only go 1 direction. The was no lifty at the beginner magic carpet. They shut the quad lift down in the middle of the afternoon for an hour. There were no lift attendants at the lift lines so it was kaos. And they were not following Covid protocol. The ski patrol was loading singles when they were there. No masks on half the people and none was 3 feet apart much less 6. The parking attendants were standing and taking too each other and would not help. Go some place else

First time skiing at Beech Mtn. The skiing was go...

First time skiing at Beech Mtn. The skiing was good, mountain is beautiful, and it has the POTENTIAL to be a great ski destination. BUT having skied all over the country, there are a few things that need to be addressed.

1. DON'T shut down 1 of 2 chairlifts to the top of the mountain in the middle of the afternoon on a SUPER crowded Saturday! The reason given was that they "always close the lift at this time". The lines at both lifts were reasonable until they closed one of them, pushing hundreds of people onto a single chairlift. It was complete chaos at the only lift, and looked like the March of the Penguins, creating a 30 minute wait. Understand the crowd and make an informed decision.

2. Create a Singles Line for the chairlift. I have NEVER skied at a place without a dedicated Singles Line for people to fill in the chairlifts. This was part of the problem with long lines, along with very poor line management by the staff. While waiting for friends at the top for 5 minutes, I counted 9 chairs go by with only ONE person on it, and 2 chairs with NOBODY on it. All of this while there were hundreds of people waiting in line.

3. Don't have your ski rental forms at the ticket windows. Really slowed down the process of getting a lift ticket. Some people waited 45 minutes in line just to get a lift ticket.

Hope some changes are made because this place has great potential.

I went to beech mountain with my family this year....

I went to beech mountain with my family this year. The slopes were great but I feel the employees were very rude. The bartender straight up told my mother " she was waisting his time and making him lose tips." When all she wanted was to put whip cream in my daughter's hot cocoa. He was not friendly to anyone even when we sat at the bar later for drinks. As for the rentals the treatment was similar. My sister switched out her snow board to skis and they were very short and unpleasant with her.

Honest advice: the slopes were awesome.
The crowds were not bad. The lifts had lines but were not bad waits at all. The employees were very poor hence why the low rating.

Was rather disappointed this weekend. Called in advance to make sure it was going to be open this weekend. Made reservations with hotels, then drove almost 7 hours to check in only to find out today they were going to be closed all weekend. Apparently they decided this late yesterday. Doesn't make for great planning for people coming from way out of town. Should at least give 24-48 hour notice so people can cancel bookings.
Kind of glad I got here soon enough and the 20+ other people that were coming didn't arrive.
+1 Star for the friendly staff, +1 Star for the excellent looking facilities if they were open.

Our favorite North Carolina ski destination. This resort has a fast quad lift straight to the top. There's a fabulous bar and restaurant with a fireplace. It's a 3 hour drive from Greer so we can't wait till next season! The Music Place

We first came to Beech Mountain Resort years ago for the mountain biking. Since that time we have fallen in love with the winter on Beech also. Skiing and snowboarding - whether you are a beginner or advanced - there is something for everyone. The staff is always helpful and courteous. It's a great place for family fun year round!

Staff is very rude and threatened to take my pass for misunderstanding an unclear sign at the end of the lift. Very inefficient ticketing and rental lines too. Also, be prepared to pay 10 bucks or more for a crappy hamburger and fry. Sugar and Appalachian are better options imo.

One of the worst experiences I've ever had. Staff(all of them) are extremely rude. The rental process is chaotic and slow, plan on loosing an hour of skiing just getting your equipment. Went on 2/26/16, they were blowing snow in 35mph winds making it impossible to see and sandblasting any exposed skin. Word of advice, if the winds are high, turn off the blowers. We did one run and left. This was our first time at Beech and our last. Went to Sugar the next day and had a much better experience.

I have been going here for years. The people and the facitlity are there to make you have the best trip possible! They make the most of every opportunity. The resort offers many events all year. Ski in the winter, bike in the summer, concerts throughout the year, and its own brewing company. My children grew up going to their ski school. I attribute their love of skiing to the experiences the ski school gave them over the years! A new chef, new restaurant, and employees that will work to give you a great experience make this your best choice for the area! Well worth the climb to the top!

Beautiful mountains in North Carolina with medium ski slopes. Amazing views and a great place both winter and summer with the bar at the top of the mountain. From the top of the mountain you can see three states and you re at about 5000 feet. If feels like you can see forever on a clear day. I want to come back in the winter and try skiing and come back in the summer and try mountain biking down the hill.

So unorganized!!! Good grief! We waited over 2 hours for ski rentals!!! And then another 45 minutes for tickets! How does this place not have a better method for efficiency? Do yourself a favor and rent before you come! They give you forms, but no pens- the line moves so slow you have to wonder who manages this place. No refunds allowed.

Stay away! This place is a joke. I've been to several ski resorts and usually have my lift ticket+equipment and am on the slopes within 10-15 minutes. We paid for 5 hrs and it literally took us 2 1/2 hours to get our lift ticket and equipment (we even pre-paid for both). No reason for this other than not hear enough staff and they act as if they've never done this before. Asked to speak to the manager and it was a young guy that just agreed with us that it's a joke. Whoever owns this place needs to get a handle on this quickly. Some folks probably never made it to the mountain because the line to get equipment was endless behind us as well. The actual mountain is awesome if they had new ownership. I'll never be back.

If you want to experience Floridians thinking they know how to drive in snow , this is your scene...... chains wrapped around the back axle in a camaro or mustang .... I think most of them are getting a big dose of somthing in their water .... and if you tell them the correct way they whine and cry .......

I m an snowboard instructor at another nearby resort, but I have to say that my trip to Beech Mountain yesterday was fantastic. Excellent snow grooming, long and fun runs, helpful staff, convenient parking, and even good quality cafeteria food. Will definitely be back again next year!

Visited Beech Mountain Resort for their 80 s weekend party. It was alright. Came all the way from Atlanta with 8 friends to enjoy a retro weekend but it was cut short by the awful DJ who I tried to request a song from (he clearly had no idea what people from the 80 s like to listen to) but yelled at me that he was basically too busy breaking down the sound system at 11:30pm on a Saturday night when the party was supposed to last until 2:30am. They even turned on the room lights and turned off the disco lights from the dance floor so people would get the idea and go home at 11:30pm! It was awful cause I had hyped up this place to my friends and it bombed not to mention their DJ yelled at me for trying to request a song. I understood he was frantically trying to shut it down but he could have said it in a different way. I even went to speak with the Manger Ray M. (forgot his last name) and explained to him that the DJ was totally out of line and he said, that s just how the DJ is as he too was putting up chairs to close up! The entire 80 s weekend was a waste of money so I highly recommend if you have the money go to Sugar Mountain. Their resort is just nicer and well-kept and have better customer service. Don't let Beech Mountain Resort trick you by offering special events at their resort. Its all hype and no follow through.

Beech Mountain Resort has invested a lot of capital over the last few years to provide the best ski/snowboard experience at any comparable resort in the Southeast. Their own mountain experience (including chair lifts and snowmaking) is now second to none with the recent improvements. They also have a very unique apres ski environment in their Swiss themed village that includes a brewery and live bands on the weekends. For those looking to ski/snowboard in the Southeast, Beech Mountain Resort is a destination you should put at the top of your list.

Had the same experience as many others here. The staff at the ski rental, lockers, etc. were really rude. They were kind of crappy to everyone. It was really awkward. I was actually embarrassed for the resort

I have not even gone yet and so far I am having an awful experience with trying to reserve my tickets. The reservation itself is tricky for a senior (age 65 and up) as it does not prompt you to make your equipment reservation as it does with the regular adult reservation. THEN when attempting to pay, it directs you to a website for those that wish to pay in increments on their purchase. Have called the resort 3 Times only to get an answering machine. Then when I try calling back and finally get someone, she us unable to assist me with making my reservation saying reservations cannot be made or modified over the phone. When I asked if she could remain on the phone with me while I attempt to refresh and try to make the reservation again, the line gets disconnected! I call back two times more and got the answering machine again. Called again and got the same person but the line disconnected AGAIN! I am wondering whether I should even go forward with trying to visit this place. The system and website is obvious very flawed and I do not wish to give out my personal information (I.e. social security number) and have my credit run just to pay for my ski trip! Being that we are in the middle of a pandemic and businesses are trying to provide contactless service, they should make sure that customers are truly able to do business WITHOUT CONTACT if they want to make money!! Very disappointed

**UPDATE: Talia reached out to me and was extremely helpful and accommodating and helped me to book my tickets. However, I was disappointed in my visit to Beech Mountain. Your satisfaction is not guaranteed here, as nothing is refundable. Tickets for ski and snowboard lessons are not able to be booked online. Spent over a hour in the ski rental area, only to find out once coming out that classes for the entire day were booked, which was really disappointing being that it was my family s first time skiing. Lack of visible signage made it difficult to get around. Lots of college kids working here and it showed by their lack of professionalism. Leslie, one of the managers, was helpful in getting my ticket time extended since I spent hours in the ski rental area. Lots of work needs to be done to the workflow, especially during the pandemic where contact should be limited. It was busy this day and it seems like they do not have the necessary staff and resources to meet the demand. I look forward to trying skiing again, but I doubt it will be at this resort.

WORST ski resort ever. Parking is a complete JOKE. Workers were rude and unprofessional. None of them knew anything. It was hard to tell which slop was what. Save your money and go somewhere else.

I worked here like 16 years ago. I loved skiing here I was on the slopes daily. It's a great place ski and snowboard it really has a ski resort feel to it. My only real complaint is something that can't be helped and that is it can get very windy and that causes a few issues especially when they are blowing snow. Mainly the wind will blow away the fresh made snow leaving patches of ice. Also management didn't seem to care about the actual skiing conditions BUT it's been years since I've skied there so I can't say anything about conditions now. As far as the trails I thoroughly enjoy them nice wide trails amazing views. Something about skiing this mountain I find to be peaceful and relaxing.

3 parking lots and all full. Lift line wait was over an hour, then the lift stops every 5 minutes for 10 minutes at a time. Lift exits are a mess, people falling everywhere. Crazy to only get 1 run down in an hour and a half. Go to Sugar Mountain or Appalachian Mountain and save yourself some aggravation.
