Came at 9am to get in line for tubing tickets for the 12pm session and was still turned away after only 3 families in line purchased tickets!! Unbelievable! You have only a few people ahead of you in line but then they are buying for groups of people. They have people waiting in the cold for literally hours to *hopefully* get tubing tickets. This is 2020, do online ticketing. Don t waste our time. Will not be back.

Had a weekend at Beech Mountain with pretty subpar skiing conditions. While I understand they could not control the weather, these conditions were exacerbated by a lack of adequate fake snow management. Including large grass and mud patches on one of the most trafficked (and arguably best, if there weren t said grass and mud patches) run. The parking lot was also a mud fest and you needed a 4x4.

Considering we re in the middle of a pandemic, we were happy with the COVID rules, however disappointed by the lack of enforcement. Likely due to the fact that all of the staff gave off App State Freshmen vibes.

Fine skiing for North Carolina, much room for improvement.

Absolutely terrible. Mismanaged and horrible. Drove 3-hours to get here only to be stuck in traffic 1/2 mile from the entrance for 45 minutes. We already bought our tickets, but when we arrived at the entrance, we were told to turn around as the parking lot was full. 1) drove 3-hours, 2) prepaid and bought our tickets a week before, 3) denied services after waiting in traffic for 45 minutes. Worst place ever. DO NOT GO HERE.

I've not done much skiing or boarding but to address the facilities I can comment. As being apart of the renovation team I was very impressed with what the contactors where able to do to the resort and the difference is amazing. I see a great amount of effort and money being invested into the resort to offer a top notch skiing experience in the south as far as southern skiing is concerned. From what I hear is that these renovations and adding new attractions will be an ongoing project. In conclusion I was proud to be a part of the renovation team as the owners and staff who were there during the summer treated us all well and I hope the patrons enjoy their time at Beech.

Out of sugar mountain and Beech Mountain they are equal. Beech Mountains snow making capabilities are superb. Sugar Mountain has newer and faster lifts. If I had to choose, I would pick Beech. The vibe is a little different and it is less crowded. If you go when it is snowing, you have to have chains or 4 wheel drive. Enjoy!

I rarely give less than five stars but beech mountain with the tubing and not being able to buy tickets in advance for people that are coming from out of state or out of the area is ridiculous we had to make a line for about an hour and 15 minutes just to let us know that sales for tubing were all sold out, tickets start to sell at 8:00 a.m. got to make the line at 6:00 a.m. ridiculous, a family of five that I met there was their second attempt and we're not able to make it in because it was sold out.

Horrible experience today. The resort has no regard for COVID and is clearly not limiting their capacity due to COVID. Completely oversold tickets and the place was absolutely packed - lift lines are a 45+ minute wait and no one wearing masks until it's time to get on the lift. Such a waste of money and our whole weekend. Went down the slopes once and left due to being so uncomfortable with the amount of people here

Still bummed they don t offer a veterans discount, but a much better deal than sugar. They offer a half day option in the morning. Higher elevation and better snow. Generally better at opening more runs than other places. The ladies night on Thursday is a great deal.

Employees had no mask at times but had no problem threating to make me leave. I understand the rule but when I see Employees outside without one I should be able to do the same. I like to call business/people like this covid hypocrite.

Great place to visit.Drove from Florida to 1st time ever snowboarding and staff was super friendly and the ski/snowboard community there very helpful. 100% recommended plan on going again soon.

Overall Beech was great. We are a family of 5 (kids 8, 10, 12) and the youngest 2 have never snowboarded. The "play area" where the magic carpet is, was perfect for those 2 to figure out the snowboard. The only real criticism is that they could have been better staffed in the cafeteria and followed better indoor capacity COVID protocols.

If you are going to offer events aside from the snow sports, make sure you are taking care of your guests. We were there last night to see a band, who by the way was awesome, and it was treacherous getting from the parking to the venue. It was so scary and dangerous we are foregoing the tickets we bought for today. What a damn shame.

I think the rating should be higher than in the 3 stars, should definitely be over 4. Only went once on a nice powder day, but the slopes were fun, they kept lines down by opening lifts, friendly staff, and all around good experience. Maybe the parking lot could've been cared for more with the ice.

With skiing and snowboarding in the winter and mountain biking in the summer, Beech Mountain is my go to place. They have a variety of different trails and slopes that never disappoint. With friendly staff members and beautiful runs, you will never leave without a smile on your face.

extremely overpriced for a slope ticket for the weekend. purchased ticket a week in advanced and were still told we were not allowed up the mountain due to no parking. they also sent us down the mountain because there was no more ski rentals. we had to drive an extra mile down the road for rentals. they were yelling and hitting cars to tell us to turn around. there was also a million people there and over an hour wait for all lifts. they did not take covid precautions seriously.

The absolute best skiing and snowboarding experience in North Carolina. Beech has a couple restaurants, coffee shop and brewery along with shops and rentals and free parking. It's also surrounded by a variety of restaurants and shops just a mile or so away. Would be nice if they had a better system for picking up lift tickets ordered in advance.

Great experience! Get there early to get your equipment if you plan to rent it, otherwise you ll have to spent a longggg time waiting. We didn t really visit anything else there, just went there to ski.

We will go back this summer to mountain bike awesome place for a ski mountain in North Carolina I can t say such good things about this mountain incredible views from the top but there needs to be remodeled to look more modern. Advice bad grammar.

Growing up in NY, I've boarded all over NY (Adirondacks) the Northeast (VT, NH) and then lived and boarded the Sierra Nevada (Squaw, Kirkwood, Heavenly, Alpine Meadows) while living in California. As an Asheville transplant, I tried both Wolf and Cataloochee (the better of the two) and was disappointed. I decided to drive the 2 hours to Beech and can honestly say it was worth it! As the only resort in NC with a high speed lift, that fact alone is worth the extra time driving! Beyond that, the snow last season (09/10) was epic and the four times I went to Beech were ALL powder days with one having 15 inches of fresh. There are a variety of slopes for different levels but I spent my time on the diamonds, which were fairly steep on the face. The two parks on the mountain were good too. Overall, I had a great time at Beech and will spend my time driving there (instead of 45 min. to Wolf and Cat) in the future!

I have skied most of the mountains in the Blue Ridge and I have to say going to beach is by far the sweetest experience. From the conditions to the staff and the uniqueness that is offered at this Resort should make all the others in the Southeast jealous :-)

Do not waste your time. To begin, no covid protocols being followed. The resort was completely over-booked. The staff appeared to be untrained and lost. It took over 30 minutes just to rent a board for my wife...that's once we made it to the register. The wait just to get on a lift was often 30 minutes and the mad house of a crowd at the bottom of the slope was worse than the mall at Christmas time. Looking to catch your covid...great place to do so. Beech Mountain management should be embarrassed by what took place during our visit. A waste of our time, money and vacation day....

I have been to Beech several times, and have never...

I have been to Beech several times, and have never been impressed. Typical to North Carolina Skiing you will wait in a 30+ minute lift line at the bottom of the mountain. Then you will get to the top and find that the typical patchy snow (even though the snow report says 44 inch base... hmmm) or super icy spots. The blue trails seem to have the same grade as the blacks, the only difference is that there is one tiny steeper section. All of this is to be expected in NC skiing though, and wasn't what really bothered me about Beech Mountain.

What really bothered me last time is that they shut one of the two lifts to the top down early. There was no reason to justify it, weather was perfect, still 35+ minutes left before they were supposed to close, but they got the "call from the top" and shut it down with no explanation or early warning. This turned at least 50+ people away who had already been waiting in line for this lift. I asked an administration person why they would do this and she very rudely responded that they close that lift for grooming sometimes (grooming doesn't start until the slopes are closed so why close that lift early?) She then told me my time would have been better spent going and just waiting in the other line instead. I Understand lifts have issues, there can be weather, and that some close early on the backside so they can give people time to get off the mountain. This was nothing like that and the lift kept running, just empty for the rest of one of the busiest days. If people pay for a service you should provide it completely. Apparently this is not the Beech Mountain policy.

Not only do they close lifts early for no reason, but while loading a lift I noticed the "operator" was wearing a shirt that said "rolling stoned" and had a rolling stones tongue licking a joint pictured on the front. This might be cool on your spare time, but is this how your employees should represent themselves while operating HEAVY MACHINERY such as a ski lift? Being one to try to not overreact about a shirt I glossed over it until I literally watched this guy not pay attention as a chair was dragged over someone who did not load properly, and Mr. Rolling Stoned only noticed when the next group trying to load shouted at him to stop it because someone was laying on the ground in front of the chair. Quite pathetic.

If this is your first time going and you need a fairly easy mountain that is close for a day trip, maybe choose this place. There are other ski options though however with longer runs, better lift options, and non-beginner runs. If you are looking for somewhere to actually do some skiing/snowboarding, then do yourself a favor and spend the extra money and time to go a little farther to a real mountain. You will be grateful when you actually get to ski instead of waiting in line all day.

Sara got to experience snowboarding for the first time and Toby got to experience ice skating the first time. The two older boys got to enjoy hanging out in the mountains by themselves snowboarding. Snow tubing was also a great time for the kids as they could do that without help as well. The kids had a blast on Christmas Day while they were at the Beech Mountain Ski Resort

We had a great time skiing last weekend. Snow was amazing and staff was friendly and helpful. Ski lifts operated smoothly without stopping every 2 minutes.
I wish they had a conveyor belt or chair lift at the terrain park instead of tow rope. I saw many people fall multiple times while trying to hang on to the tow rope.

Lastly , I think food can be better.
Overall great place to enjoy skiing if you are from southeast

Had a great time today, couldn't ask for better weather. Despite Covid capacity restrictions, it was probably one of the most crowded Saturdays we have ever attended. The lines were exceptionally long, even for the bunny slopes, but the additional wait time did not remove any of the fun we had. It was good to be outdoors had a great NC resort having some great family fun.

If you have ever skied out west just stay away from here. The parking lot is a mud pit. So before you even get started you are covered in mud. Hey great news!!! You can pre purchase lift tickets as they do sell out. Hey more good news!! You also get to stand in line with ever person that has and has not pre purchased lift tickets. It should only take an hour or so from the miserable staff to get them. Yeah, lessons?? You want some?? To bad. They are first come first serve and the ski lesson place is so small and crowded it s just dangerous

I paid for an afternoon pass and was only able to go down the slope one time in two hours and the lift operator didn t even scan my tag. There are way too many people and beginners were just sitting on the slopes and made it unsafe. I don t recommend going over the holidays as it is way too busy. They really should have a maximum capacity limit for safety reasons and for a more enjoyable experience. It may be better other times of the year. I tried to ask for a refund or make my lift ticket good for another time of the year and the administration office would not do it. They lady in the administration office was also rude.

We had a great time at Beech Mountain today. They were far more organized than Sugar Mountain and the trails were in great condition. The lifts were older and slower, but the staff was efficient at filling the chairs quickly. My wife was a first time skier and loved the wide green trails, and the Lower Shawneehaw trail which was an easier blue trail that was straight and wide. Definitely my favorite ski resort in the area.

Got there at 9am on a Saturday. Got in line for lift pass by 9:30, stood in line for an hour and a half for tickets. By 11 we were in line for the ski rentals. After 3 hours of waiting outside in 20 degrees, we got skis. It took another hour to get through our first lift. The whole experience was terrible and everything was very unorganized. We paid for half a day, 9-5 at $104 dollars and were able to spend about 45 minutes skiing and the rest of the time we waited in lines for a horrible ski experience. Don't go! Avoid at all cost!

Not sure if it's a 2020 thing but it would seem they over sell tickets not enough parking them the bathrooms out of order. I would like to see the park to come up a better idea on how to get tickets and equipment. I know people wanting for hours. But my grandson learned how to snow board and he had a blast.

I'm very impressed with the resort lodging, they have a restaurant/bar , weight room, recreation room with a big fireplace, pool table , fozball table, air hockey game table, ping pong table , a piano and comfortable seating in front of the fireplace. The staff is exceptional. .. friendly with coffee ready for you and they will not hesitate to make another pot for you. I like coffee .

Beech Mountain is the place to be whether you re a beginner or have been riding for years. The width and grooming of the slopes provide an experience everyone can enjoy. The staff has proven to be friendly and helpful in all regards. They provide an interactive family-friendly atmosphere through the slopes, music, social festivities, dining and more. It also doesn t hurt that their beer is some of the best in the High Country!

If you can ride on natural snow and when mountain ...

If you can ride on natural snow and when mountain is completely open this is a good place for skiing or snowboarding. Make sure you have sharp edges for ice riding. I rate it 3 stars because the rate for a daily beech pass is a touch high. The amount of indoor seating for dining or resting is not enough for the amount of people. Lastly the food ordering/pickup in building next to brew house flat out is horrible. The kitchen can not handle the mass of people they get on a weekend; waited 45 minutes to order food and then another 45 to get food. We had same issue 7 years ago with this place. Oh and the fact 18% gratuity is automatically added to your bill is BS.

The positives

The positives
We did thankfully purchase tickets online and rented equipment at home and took it with us so we skipped the long lines waiting for tickets and rental equipment. Once we got in the line at the ticket booth to get our lift tickets was not long at all I highly recommend this. The slopes were nice and groomed well. They had natural snow and making more snow so the conditions were great
The negatives
PARKING!! Uggghhh They really need to do something about this it was the worst situation I have ever seen hands-down in my 50 years all three parking lots were completely packed people were spilling over into the roads on the main road on the side roads in parking lots the police were yelling at people and very rude telling them to just continue to ride around for 30 min to an hour saying stuff like I don t know what to tell you . The website says that the tickets are sold at a reduced amount because of Covid well I would hate to see how the parking situation is when the tickets are not sold at a reduced amount if you know you were going to sell that many tickets then you need to have parking to accommodate your customers I was lucky enough to find a spot in the parking lot my kids however had to park at an apartment complex nearby and walk a mile to the ski resort. The lines were horrendous
If you know you have that many people coming on a busy day all Lifts should be open the lines for the lifts were at least 40 minutes long the one line that was only 20 minutes shut down at 4 PM now if you have that many people at that ski resort for a day you should keep all lifts open at all times I don t think we will be back would rather drive the extra 30 minutes to winter place we re parking is not a problem and all lifts are open
Made about 6 runs for $72 plus equipment rental. This place is just not worth the money no one scanned our lift tickets either

Terrible experience! If it is your first experience run away from this place. The staff is not helpful, there is no sign to warn about the difficulties and how the things works. They took your money and after they said: "you can't do that!", how you call this kind of behavior?

My family and I have gone to Beech Mountain twice ...

My family and I have gone to Beech Mountain twice in 2021. We absolutely love it. Although it is not the same as a park city, or a heavenly resort, it is definitely the best in the Southeast. I want to give special recognition to whoever was operating the high-speed four-man chairlift on the night of Wednesday the sixth. My seven-year-old daughter was learning to snowboard on these last two trips. He took his time to see us coming and slowed the machine down until she learned how to get off the lift properly and safely. I don t know his name I wish I did so I can give him the recognition that he deserves for making a little girls trip that much more easy and special. Everybody else there was friendly as well. Cafeteria food is decent, and the staff is always friendly. Only criticism that I would have, is that they continue to blow snow all day long and all night long while you are skiing or snowboarding.Although I understand that they have to make snow when they can to extend the season, when it is so windy at the snow being blown is not even hitting the ground but it s really ruining the conditions for the patrons I think an exception could have been made. Other than that the mountain the area reviews the people and the accommodations were all great. We will definitely be back and be a huge fan of Beech Mountain. Thank you so much.

Beech Mountain is doing a great job to accommodate the high demand this year. Slopes are in excellent conditions. The staff has been taking advantage of the cold weather to produce a great experience. Lift operators are doing a good job to ensure a safe experience for everyone, as they do every year. Restaurants and Cafes on-site are a little crowded, but quality remains high. Keep up the good work.

Our family had a lot of fun, but I was very disappointed with the staff at the lockers and those leading private lessons. Team members running the locker area today acted like they were being bothered when anyone asked for help. The staff giving private lessons frequently yelled at children not included in the lessons for being in the way. If they feel the need to have the entire area, perhaps that spot should not be available to those not taking lessons. Children were not made to feel welcome in the space that is intended for them to become acclimated with skiing and snowboarding. Our annual family trip will continue to be to this area, but not at Beech Mountain for the money we spent to be treated poorly.

Best skiing in North Carolina. Getting lift tickets online is so much simpler than competitors. Slopes for every level of skiier/boarder and family friendly. The sky bar is a huge bonus for a break. If you are choosing between Beech and Sugar you will be disappointed if you don't end up here.

It was ok but not fine. At cafeteria outside was snow and people could not eat them meals, ice rink was covered with an extra pile of ice and impossible to use it. I think the management should improve it. Thank you.

AVOID RENTING AT BEECH IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.

AVOID RENTING AT BEECH IF AT ALL POSSIBLE.
TWO HOURS was the process from parking to lifts.
Beech was terribly understaffed for the traffic. While a great deal of the process could be automated, today it remains just as inefficient a a decade ago.

NOTE: The value of Beech Mtn's real estate will eventually only be as good as the MANAGEMENT of the main attraction.

Dear Beech Mtn: Hire a consultant to give you an objective assessment of customer experience.

Consultants: Recommend you go totally incognito. Go through the rental lines at high tide, when customers are forced to stand in one line - in order to stand in another line - before standing in another line. Also recommend noting the attitudes of the staff.

----

Also, after we'd skied for a while, as it was very cold outside, we decided to warm up and grab a bite in the ski lodge. The lodge was very crowded, so in order to gain a little more space, we found a decent spot upstairs. Seeing the huge fireplace, we hoped to warm up by the flames. But, the beautiful, welcoming fireplace wasn't even working. Huge let-down. There's a big disconnect here.

From a customer's perspective, has Beech Mtn's management has given up on a pursuit of excellence? I'm not even a consultant and big, hairy, obvious issues were clear, like icebergs in a swimming pool. Theres truckloads of low-hanging fruit for improvement.

Perhaps Beech's competition will read this review and realize they've got a chance to catch Beech with their pants down.

Again, the value of all of Beech Mountain, it's surrounding businesses and overall real estate is only going to be as good as the management of the main attraction.

Hopefully, Beech's management will realize the threats and opportunities at their doorstep. We all benefit from quality businesses led by exceptional management.

Disappointing first experience.

Disappointing first experience.

1) It was WAY too crowded for operating safely during COVID. It was obvious they weren't limiting capacity at all. All day long we talked to people who said they've never seen it that crowded, even on President's day weekend. 45+ minute wait times for each chair lift all day long. The first picture I posted shows the beginning of one of the lines for lift 5 and only a small portion of the line for lift 1. The second picture is the rest of the line for lifts 1 and 2, winding up the mountain to the left. The line for the Oz lift started a 1/4 way up the slope. Jam packed inside the rental areas. My wife and I joked that it felt like we were at Disney pre-COVID.

2) The wayfinding is atrocious. It is near impossible to find your way anywhere without having to ask staff. The flag signage is not readable from any distance away. The park map doesn't work on a phone (can't zoom in without a popup you can't clear unless you zoom out). Further, the park map doesn't give any details on any of the buildings! Ticket sales were easy to find because they are front and center. Nearly impossible to find the Traxx check in. Good luck finding where the lockers are, or the ski rental returns. They need to spend the 50k to bring in a marketing company to produce some real wayfinding and optimize a mobile friendly map.

3) The lone great experience we had was with the Traxx program for our kids. Very well organized and run. Well worth the money for the instruction. And the cherry on top was our kids got to skip to the front of all the lines because they were in a lesson. They had a great time.

We where here on the first week of January for a week with family. We went skiing twice and it was great. It was not pricey like other resort and that the much people when we were there. So it was awesome.

The snow was a little compact in the bottom of the hill but that's your be expected because there a lot of people playing on that area but other than. It we had blast.

Not impressed. Very excited for our family vacation and that quickly turned into disappointment. S mores night was nothing more than a fire and bring your own supplies, no staff around to guide tourists on what to do, all equipment sold out, 1+ hour wait just for tickets only to be sold out after waiting for hours... I feel like I m on an episode of PUNKED. Never again.

They offer day and night skiing which is awesome. ...

They offer day and night skiing which is awesome. The chairlifts move along efficiently and the staff is friendly. The food is low quality and priced very high which is not a surprise. They often will run low or out of items due to poor planning. They have NO PUBLIC WiFi which is just ridiculous in today's age. They have a private Wifi so the service is there. So make sure you plan accordingly with a hotspot and sit near a window for good cell data reception.

Do you like skiing? Do you like lines even more? I...

Do you like skiing? Do you like lines even more? If the latter, then check out Beech Mountain on a Saturday! The snow is actually pretty good for the East Coast, but management is taken by surprise that Saturdays are going to be a busy day. There are lines everywhere and no preparations for them - from the shuttles to the rentals (1 hour wasted there) to the lift lines (I don t even want to count the hours spent there). If you re going to go on a Saturday, tips would be to get there before 9am to get the close parking lot, rent skis at a ski shop on the drive up, and brace yourself for some very long waits.

I went the last weekend of January 2021 and there ...

I went the last weekend of January 2021 and there were zero COVID precautions or regulations. Patrons were not wearing masks in lines nor were ski lift operators who were manning the chairs standing near the patrons. Over-capacity (definitely not 50%) on Saturday with lift lines (and zero social distancing) over 30m waits. Virtually no outdoor heating options so people were packed inside or on the patio of the mountain top bar. Beer cans literally all over the snow beneath the lifts and on the trails. I have never seen anything like it. Plus, they do not groom the snow during the day so trails are very sloppy by midday and definitely during evening/night hours.

Beech Mountain today was like waiting on lines in ...

Beech Mountain today was like waiting on lines in Disney world in the heat of August ! It was horrible. Waiting on line to check in, even though you bought your tickets online. Waiting on line for ski school only to get a very late afternoon class when your kids have never even skied before- that s a disaster!!! We were there after the slopes opened and we still got a late in the day class!! Then to add to the fun- we waited on line for beers and then waited on line for food. We are very thankful we didn t even have to rent equipment. That line was incredibly long !!!

The highlight of the day was the kids ski teacher Squid. They really liked him. The women who was tending bar was wonderful! She kept smiling that whole time when she NEVER stopped serving drinks.

Covid protocol- there was NONE!! Very disappointed how crowded the cafeteria area was and one time I saw a worker throw out some left over cups- that was it! There was food all over the floor and never cleaned up. We will in the lounge from 10:30-4...never saw a table top cleaned!!!

Wasted a weekend and a significant amount of money...

Wasted a weekend and a significant amount of money here. Bought tickets online the day before to ensure we d be able to ski. Once on top of the mountain we waited for over an hour in a ridiculously long line of cars before getting to the parking lot entrance. An outrageously rude and agitated parking lot attendant told us to get out of here as he had no more space. He yelled for us to come back in 20 minutes which was a ludicrous suggestion. Since we had spent so much time and $$, we did as he suggested. The police had intervened at this point and could be heard telling the attendant he needed to fix the surreal disaster. We were obviously turned away a SECOND time EVEN THOUGH WE ALREADY HAD TICKETS. I am still not believing this. Now Beech refuses to refund my tickets. WTH?!?

I was disappointed today about my private snowboar...

I was disappointed today about my private snowboarding lessons. The trainer was nice but I did have to tell him to slow it down.... he kept trying to teach me new moves rushing me knowing I haven t learned the first one move. I arrived at the ski school at 12:40 to see about doing private lessons and was told they would see if someone would do it( they do private lessons every hour on the hour). My receipt says I paid for 12:30 and at 12:30 I was still in my car in the parking lot and we didn t even start until 12:45 waiting on the instructor. So 1:20 came and the instructor was done and walked away. I have my receipt and the purchase time is on it. So I got 35 minutes of private snowboarding lessons for $65 bucks. I just don t think it was fair and was very surprised when they guy ended it and walked away. If they were only going to be able to do 35 minute sessions it should have been discounted. Hopefully this can be resolved.

A Thorough Review

A Thorough Review

The good: skiing was decent and the night skiing was even better. Mountain has weird dynamic where the light on a cloudy day can make the snow terrain difficult to distinguish but the night lights are plenty and show it well. Cafeteria food was decent and not exorbitant like you would expect at any other resort (but not cheap). Lots of ski-in/out options and we took advantage of one. Most of the staff was friendly and professional. Tubing was a lot of fun once we went down one lane a few times and packed the snow. Lots of patchy ice as to be expected on an Appalachian mountain, but because the wind blows up the face it can create some powder on the edges of the runs, so look for that.

The bad: Only one high speed lift is operable for the foreseeable future so weekend lines are long. Staff is significantly reduced right now so the line for tickets can back up since they only have one booth open with one window open. Rental ski boots are difficult in that they don't have a back strap for carrying or helping put on and take off. Also there seems to be absolutely zero checking of lift tickets so there's no telling how many dishonest people are zipping about on the slopes.

The ugly: DO NOT rent your equipment from here: there is a zero refund policy. Never have I ever rented from a place that doesn't allow early turn ins or just a refund because someone changed their mind or something came up. I didn't even think to check the policy because it's so asinine: it's not like the equipment is set aside or anything once booked. Just a money grab. Also, beware the high speed lift that runs from the very bottom: the lift does not slow down at drop-off and the offload ramp is not very steep, so if you don't push off hard, you may not get clear of the chair swinging around (happened to me, considering having it looked into for safety issues).

The annoying: If nobody is at the ticket booth to buy tubing tickets, don't go to the upper booth like the sign says, go to admin. The bunny slope is very flat and difficult to get enough speed to learn on, especially boards. Some of the lifts are wooden seats which become ice blocks if it rains/snows.

No better combination of location, lifts, runs, pool and spa and courteous, friendly staff!
Great for a romantic getaway for our family vacation. It has everything, SkyBar/Brewery, Adequate Rentals, Expert instructors. Can be busy on weekends & I ve seen them almost lose patience with people acting cheap or maybe drunk?
Beech Mountain Ski Resort has an international flavor and charm.

Summer MTB n is a downhill shred fest

I'm glad they have had a good year all the resorts needed it. Beech misleads in their slope report. I called to see if Oz was open and was told yes, drove 2 1/2 hrs, asked before I bought the lift ticket was Oz open."Yes" Rode to the top of the mountain. No Oz. Administration said it had been open and was closed by ski patrol. A conversation with Ski Patrol confirmed that was a lie.

After as much research online that we could do, we decided that beech mountain was a good option for our 2 families, who drove in from Chattanooga to ski on Winter break. Or kids are 8 and 10 and have never skiid before. We intense to do a ski school, but the site didn't explain that we needed to book at least 48 hours in advance. Luckily we were able to book a private lesson, at a much higher rate, but had to wait 2.5 hours for the lesson. That was the first part of the chaos. Upon arrival, there was no direction on where to start, what to do first, where to get equipment. We stood in very long lines, only for the staff to sarcastically comment (after 30 minutes in line) that we should been in a different line. Extremely irritating and should have been streamlined so much better. You can tell that they run this operation the same way they did when it originally opened years ago. Someone really needs to look at this operation and give it an overhaul. As a business owner, I just stood there an cringed as so much money was just sifting away. If you have full ski schools, wouldn't it make sense to see more instructors and stagger the locations of check in? How about filling out forms and checking Equipment online prior to arrival? Needless to say, we won't return. Let's hope their competition is a bit more organized.

We've been here for a week. The first few days were slushy and icy, then muddy... only 3 runs open. They finally got their snow machines running on the 30th of December, 2 days were great, 5 runs open (if you count the connections) - cool! Today, those 5 runs are 70% snow, 30% mud... 3 lifts open. Unfortunately, the website misleads about the actual amount of slopes and the amount of lifts - don't trust it - it's an illusion. Realistically, I would give them a 5 star if they would at least been honest and not misleading about the conditions, and not charge full price.

I used to come here as a kid and remembered loving it. I'm now stationed in DC and drove 7 hours to Snowboard here once again. I was quoted a different price than what I paid when I got there. The line to pay for everything you need is all outside, so dress warm for the long wait. There were no directions on where to go or what to do first or how to rent/return items. $15 for a plain burger, small fries, and a drink $3-$10 dollars each time you want into your locker (This part is just a matter of fact, it didnt sway my star rating). Once we finally got up to the slopes, there were only 3, and that's barely 3. They had the snow machines turned on blowing up ice into everyone's face coming down the mountain. There was no fresh powder on the slopes, all ice. The ice made for maneuvering and stopping a very difficult task. There was grass and rocks everywhere. Due to that last part I mentioned, i hit a section of that and wiped out gaining a concussion. We left right after, only 3 hours into our day pass. Needless to say, I am unsure if I will ever return, or if I will ever recommend Beech again to my friends on the force..

This place needs a new management team that matches the natural privileges this resort enjoys. Visited on 12/31/2020 at noon with absolute disappointment from the people that operates this place. In general, customer service is not their concern. The equipment rental operation is a disaster, and this has nothing to do with covid. The people handing you the skis seem to get paid by a different boss than the one handing you the boots. They both act as they don t need the job. One will give you the boots and will not warn you about not wearing them before you get the skis. They will ask you to remove the boots after all the hazle. Then they will wait until you are all set to tell you that there are no lockers to place your shows while you are skiing, but kindly suggest you walk all the way back to your car, which is far away downstairs wearing the ski boots, to store your belongings. I suggested them to communicate as a team and to inform the customers to avoid the aggravation, for many, during the limited time you have to enjoy the ski resort. Instead of saying thanks and turn proactive, they got upset, responded with a bunch of excuses, and did nothing. There was no manager, or administration personnel that care about this. I was not the only one going thru the pain. I will never go back to this place and do not recommend it.

COVID Central BEWARE!!

COVID Central BEWARE!!

We went the weekend before Christmas week. The bars and restaurants were crowded and nobody was stopping people who refused to wear a mask. We would be sitting there, trying to eat our food, the place was getting packed, without any distancing, and people without masks would be just walking by within one foot of us like no pandemic was going on. We had to go outside and eat our food in the cold. They just didn t care and the resort didn t even care to put a stop to it. The rules that all the resorts put out as cooperation were just lip service and advertising. They obviously didn t mean it. They are not concerned about the customer s safety. It just isn t so. The resort was so packed that parking overflowed into the outer most lots. They were looking for places to put cars. People in the lift lines were removing their masks and were feet from us. They just didn t care. The snowmaking machines spit out ice grains and into your face when you skied by painful, unless you had full face covering, and you have to keep wiping off your goggles. To get our tickets, we had to walk into the group sales office because we bought them online. When we walked in there, there was tons of people eating their lunch (okay fine), socializing, walking around inside, and absolutely no masks on any of them. Crazy!! Beech Mountain is nothing but a super spreader. I had higher hopes.

Took the family to Beech for a weekend of skiing. The staff manning the lifts were rude and aggressive and threatened to cut the lift ticked off my sons jacket because he didn t have a mask on. Later we received the same treatment at the Beech Mtn Brewery when the worker threatened to call the police because we were looking at the menu without mask. After 50 years of skiing at Beech I ll take my business someplace else

Wonderful views all around. Friendly staff. Word of warning...... the "Green" mountain bike trail has steep drops and very sharp turns. Not the best place to take a child first run down. My 7yr old who is highly skilled at skiing and other sports recked his face, side, and legs only 5 minutes down the run. Fun. But very steep for beginners.
