I WOULD RATHER GIVE THIS 0 STARS....This place needs to train their employees better and need to give the right information to customer's especially when other peoples safety is involved.
I will never return to this establishment.

We went skiing the Friday of MLK weekend.

The Good: The slopes are in great condition right now, almost everything is open. The lift lines for the more advanced slopes moved fast, never waited more than 5 minutes. Although the begginers slopes and lift lines looked really congested. Thank you for joining the 21st century and allowing online ticket and rental purchase, unlike Sugar Mountain.

The Bad: I had read other reviews here about the lines for tickets and rentals. We arrived at 7:45, slopes don't open until 9, but ticket booth and rental open at 8. There were only about 10-15 people in front of us, and we still weren't able to hit the slopes until about 9:30. Yes it took well over an hour to get equipment! There was one person handing out boots and only two poeple fitting skis. By the time we had our skis and went outside, the line was backed up out the door and around the building. I can understand why others have talked about 2-3 hour waits to get skis. I know we're in a pandemic, but there has got to be a more efficient way to get people in and out of rental.

My advive: Go on a weekday, and get there early.

Good lift. Good skiing. But prepare for insanely large lines and TONS of people constantly cutting to the front and lots not wearing masks. There needs to be repercussions for this. It ruined my experience. Get it together

Staff is always nice, but be warned that holidays can be extremely busy as with any resort. Late season off holiday can really be nice, but keep an eye on the weather to make sure they are producing snow or have it naturally. Enjoy your trip!

After purchasing tickets online and waiting in a traffic jam caused by parking the parking attendant said there was no parking that we had to find our own parking and walk to the resort once we got to the resort it was not clear where to go or what to do The line for the rental was literally 2 hours long by the time we received everything we could only use the chairlift twice before our day session was over besides that it was great

Rooms were old and outdated. Lift tickets were ridiculously overpriced. Staff were rude and unhelpful. I imagine the only reason this place is still in business is because of the lack of competition in the area, other than Sugar. The runs were boring and over in about 10 seconds, and with there only being 2 decent runs on the whole mountain, it got old quick. Save your money. Don t waste it on a poorly run resort like this.

Out of Sugar Mtn. and Beech Mtn. they are not equal. Beech has a brewery at the bottom and a sky bar at the top. Beech has a small alpine village vs just a single lodge. Beech was/is a much stronger supporter of snowboarding when the sport was just getting going. I snowboarded for the first time here in 1988 and this is where us riders from EOW and local burton pros rode religiously. Beech has lower white lightning. Beech didn t let developers build a giant eyesore condo building on top of the mountain. Beech is not overrun by Florida tourists nearly as bad. Beech is way better! the only complaint and it is a big one is that Beech quit grooming in the late afternoon so you have to get there when they open in the am. That is why everyone goes to sugar.

NOT for beginner skiiers! While this resort is beautiful and picturesque, I did not feel like I was well taken care of here for the money. Walkways, parking lots, and stairs were extremely icey and dangerous with no salting done. There was also very little assortment of trails, which is very bad for someone just learning how to ski. They went from very easy bunny slope to extremely steep actual slopes. Staff was also extremely rude and unaccommodating.

This was a great place to ski, the only reason one star was deducted is when I went for the blue freestyle zig-zag one, it was so iced over and extreemly hard to stop. But that was most likely from ski trafic, and the whole place had really iced over snow. Other than that, great place to ski.

I enjoyed riding these slopes. We went during the night hours which was pretty cool, especially with the fog - I couldn't decide if I liked or hated the fog though. Only a couple of the larger slopes were open and although I wished more were open, I definitely would come back when they are. **Make sure you call/check online what slopes are open**

They brew their own beer at the village so definitely grab one after your long day!

Unbelievably rude staff. I went to rent boots and they gave me boots that were wet form the inside, so i went and asked the lady politely if i can get different ones and she rudely responded: "you should go rent ones form somewhere else then." Then she gave me another pair that were even worst and one of the soles was half way out. when i told her about the soles she made me take them out and said "their you go." Besides form that the lift operators were screaming at people all day long.

Worst customer service I've ever encountered anywhere.

There were long lines. The average skier had a moderate to beginning level. The runs were awesome, but too few. My hometown resort is Bogus Basin. You can literally get lost on some of the trails. The Black Diamond run was surprising! Back home it would be intermediate though. Convenient to Georgia, I would make this the number one spot.

The snow was great (we came right after a snow storm) and trail options were very good. It felt understaffed though. Sometimes I couldn t even see anyone manning the lifts.

The ski school unfortunately was poorly run and teachers were not helpful. My husband s class never went on the lift. He s been several times and I signed him up just for a refresher but the ski n instructor never even took the class on the mountain.

I tried to sign up my three year old for a lesson and was met with frustration. The girl at the desk said none of the teachers could teach her and to try again the next day. But I couldn t sign her up. A man came out and rudely said they do not teach three year olds and that their website says four and older. There are one or two teachers who can do three year olds but the only one there was booked for the day and I couldn t reserve a spot with the one teacher for the next day either. I just checked the website again it clearly says three and older...

I also tried to sign up my six year old for trax. I failed to even do that. There was no room in the classes, I was told. I ended up getting her a one hour private lesson. I don t feel like she learned anything new though.

Then here was the kicker. I went up to the top of the green run with my oldest (and very proficient) daughter. There was a girl at the top of the run frozen there. Her father had signed her up for a morning lesson. Now she was at the top of the mountain with her aunt and she couldn t get down. I watched her for several minutes as people tried to coax her to start trying. Eventually I asked if she wanted help. So I skied backwards, holding her hands and explained how to start, stop, steer, and look forward. The lesson she had taken apparently had done her no good. I got her half way down when another one of her family members spotted her from the chair lift and said she d be right there and could help her the rest of the way down. So I went on ahead with my own daughter.

Not the best place to learn to ski, unless you bring your own ski teacher with you. The ski school is poorly managed and instructors poorly trained.

Great snow for so far south with a decent amount of terrain. Fun runs and good variety. Just go someplace bigger and more efficient for ski school.

First visit here a little rough. Long lines, no real social distancing, a tiny bunny slope space that was crowded with lots of non skiers and 2 of the 5 bathroom stalls were out of order/overflowing. Heard lots of complaints about long lines so it didn't sound like this was the normal around here. Cant say I head back here in the future. Parking was an absolute mess as well. Felt like they just oversold and couldn't handle the influx well.

Will say on a plus side the staff was great. Had a ski instructor help my wife out just without asking (saw she needed a pointer). She really appreciated that. The rental counter lady was great as well and ticket staff at pickup window was kind and efficient.

I first skied here in the late 1970's and then many times thereafter as my kids were growing up...most recently just a few years ago. Trips and days/nights on the slope were always great. The family joke has been when I turn 70, I'm heading to Beech so I can ski for free.

Well, I'm ready and still in good enough shape to ski but after reading the MANY negative posts about crowds, parking issues, unhelpful staff, I think I'll pass!

The tubing reservations aren't being done right, someone can buy a ticket at 8am for the lastest 6pm tubing session. And you can't reserve over the phone... Kinda hard to take your daughter tubing when you live an hour away and have to work...

I would like to say that if you come for skiing when weather appropriate and there is natural snow than you may really get fun. My biggest concern is about management. There are lines and no preparations for them. Get ready to waste up to an hour for renting. And one more thing is brazen hypocrisy. I took night ride from 5 to 10pm. There were no big lines at the lifts. You could get down and without waiting get to lift and ride back to the top. Than management two hours before closing time closed one lift, so they could save money on electricity and so on, created big crowds at another lift and started annoying people with masks. They created crowds just to pretend they take care about public health. When i confronted them, they had no comments.

Beech is our go to ski resort in the High Country. As long as you can avoid their busiest days, it's a great time. Their conditions have blown Sugar out of the water this season. Keep killing it mountain ops crew and thanks to all the staff at Beech Mountain.

Great customer service. Resort was willing to go above and beyond to help with my request and accommodate me. Customer service goes a long way and they have retained a customer for my next trip to Beech Mountain.

Beautiful resort. The line just to get the lift ticket, even though we prepaid for it, was insane. 100 + people in line hardly moving, and it took up 2.5 hours of our paid ski time to wait- There were two windows available, one attendant working the line. I don t know if they overbooked the facility, but a multi hour line just for our ski lift sticker that we prepaid for is crazy. Maybe try getting here far before they open to try and get ahead of the line... We came on Monday morning, january 4th at 8:30 AM....

Way too many people. You wait in line for 20 minutes to go down vey short and crowded slopes with people stopped all the way down. Makes it very hard to enjoy and ski/snowboard at the pace you would like. The lines for the lifts run into the end of the slopes which makes for a lot of accidents and blockage. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!!!! Also- no WiFi in the crowded cafeteria.

I love beech mountain resort! Prices are super reasonable and they always have deals going on and discounts for students etc. there s a cafeteria and brewery on the mountain so it s super convenient. They also have ice skating and tubing!! You won t get bored here!

Waited 3 hours to get our preordered rental skis AFTER an hour in line to get our lift ticket. I thought outdoor sports would be safe after seeing how well businesses in Asheville have adapted. I was wrong.

This was COVID nightmare with absolutely no social distancing. After waiting in the cold for hours we had no option but to walk away or wait in a tiny room that was packed like sardines to be fitted for skis or lose out on all of our holiday priced tickets since they do not offer refunds or rescheduling. They wouldn t even let us ski for a couple extra hours to make up for losing over half the day due to their epic mismanagement. Employees were apologetic but it was clearly not their call.

Despite having about half the staff you d expect, the heavily overworked and underpaid staff that was there was very friendly. Management set them up for an absolute disaster. They seem to rely heavily on foreign worker visas that weren t an option because of the pandemic but did not adjust their capacity whatsoever to accommodated for being severely understaffed.

Lockers weren t available due in to flooding. Half the ski lifts were operating despite massive lines. Parking lots overflowing with no attendants in site. The only thing they did effectively was take our money.

I grew up skiing here and always loved it. After seeing how they treat their employees and customers during a pandemic, I am completely disgusted.

Horrible service. They can t figure out to put basic signs like snow board rentals which are in a different place than ski rentals. And employees must be trained to scream at people about wearing masks VS just asking. Your employees ruin the experience. And if you like long lines for everything - then this is your place.

Same complaint as another review from yesterday. This is our first time at this ski resort, but not our first time skiing. There was no apparent ski patrolling, little staff available for assistance anywhere, and mass chaos. My husband was hit by a snowboarder on the Mountain as he was skiing, and nobody appeared to notice. There is no skiing etiquette here, and it s extremely frustrating and disappointing. We will not be back.

We had 45 family members on our ski trip this year. Used to go 30 miles west of beech. So glad we switched to beech. Everyone from beginners to experienced were thrilled with the whole town and resort. We are already planning our trip next year which will unanimously be to beech mountain.

The best of the ski resorts in NC. Beech operates on a customers first mentality, compared to its competition. Even when it s below freezing they barely ever spray snow in your face. Plenty of slopes, plenty of lifts, plenty of room to do your thing without being too crowded. Well kept resort. Also the vibe at beech is much like a ski town at west. Great experience for being in NC.

Employees are so rude. Need to go to chick fil a customer service school. Especially the ones in the rental area and the lifts.

So many Floridians and international people come to NC to ski so the least you could do is show some southern hospitality instead of making us all look bad.

Caution! Pre-purchased tickets for 1/9/21 ski day including rentals. Like others have mentioned, they are over-selling their tickets. We were turned around by police because the roads were blocked both directions and the parking lots were over-filled. We literally were unable to get into the resort.
This is a great place to go when they are not oversold. For that reason I can recommend them during low-volume times but would not recommend them on weekends or busy days until they get this fixed. Use extreme caution if you are pre-paying for a ticket for a weekend or a holiday!

Let me start by saying the employees here are very friendly. The ski instructors we had were great, Becky had so much patience with my six year old twins for the lessons. They loved her and felt confident after just two lessons! The lessons are very affordable even for private.
The covid policies are almost non existent here though. There didn t seem to be any limitations on how many people were allowed, we were there Thursday and Friday and it was packed. There was lines for everything and people everywhere. They were checking masks when you got on the lifts. I saw one bottle of hand sanitizer in the cafeteria and no where else. There are no questions asked about symptoms when you get your lift tickets, no temp checks and visitors walk around without masks wherever they want. They were not cleaning or sanitizing any of the boots, ski poles, etc. It s quite concerning. If I had not spent a couple thousand dollars for the vacation, I would have left. The bathrooms were immaculate though, there was an attendant every time I went, that was cleaning.
Outside of covid.... you have to wait in lines for ski lessons, wait in line for tubing tickets. We got in line for tubing tickets at 8:05, there was 100 ppl in front of us and it was very unlikely we were going to get any tickets so we left. Just the idea of having to wake up at 7am to stand in line in the cold for lessons and tubing on your vacation isn t my idea of fun! I think if they made the sales online it would be much easier and enjoyable for everyone.

Skied two days at Beech. Chose Beech over sugar because of the high speed lift. The employees who operate the lifts are case studies in HORRIBLE customer service. They yelled at us and others in line every time we were in line. "Put down the bar" was a frequent yell, even before we had full sat in the lift and had a chance to put down the bar, they were yelling at us like we were prisoners in a prison camp. I tried to keep my family positive despite the verbal abuse and negativity we were receiving from the lift employees, but by the end of two days were were all really bummed out by the bad service and attitudes of the employees. I have been skiing for 15 years all over the United States and have never encountered such a poorly run place. The owners or senior management must be really bad, because it seems their employees are consistently rude and negative. Save yourself some grief and choose Sugar if you are in the area. My family will next time.

Don't waste your money. Lift tickets are super high and they do NOT groom the mountain. It's so choppy and crowded. Very unenjoyable. Stuck up snoody staff, except for maybe 3. The people running the lifts do not care if someone has fallen and are not willing to help. Had an elderly lady fall and the lift runner didn't notice so I told him that she fell. He straight up said he would "slow the lift down" instead of stopping it. She had fallen where you get off the lift. ALSO no one wants to wait in line for people to pass and wait for someone to let them break in line. Let me say we had to wait nearly 10 minutes to get on the lift bc of so many people and they closed the other lift.. This is a yearly family trip and we will NOT be back. TERRIABLE!!

I went with my 3 kids.
We arrived and rented skis and since my kids are 3.6.7 we stay to the bunny hill. A staff member rudely said we have to get off and buy lift tickets to b on the snow. ....ok so I go to buy lift tickets for me and my children who are only staying on the bunny hill anyways and thay were not selling anymore at 3 o'clock .....ok so they rent me the skis for me and my children but will not let us on the snow. ..... so they rented us the gear and refused to let us ski wile thare were others on the bunny hill....it was vary hard to explain to my children when we came from out of state to do this today. ....i will not return we rented a cabin and every thing for this horrible disappointment

This weekend was our families' first trip to Beech Mountain. We took a big chance given that it is a double holiday weekend with Valentine's and Presidents Day. It was definitely super crowded, but we expected that and we rolled with it. Unfortunately, it never got below freezing so they couldn't make any snow. Despite those challenges, we had a lot of fun. Beech has a good mixture of slope difficulties. There was something for everyone. If you are an equipment renter, make sure you buy your lift tickets and rentals online and pick up your equipment the night before your first ski day. Believe me, you won't regret it. All in all, we had a good time and hope to return soon.

This resort is a complete joke. We booked all of our stuff online before we got to the resort so we wouldn't have to wait in line but that was pointless. Once we got there the lines were backed up and it took three hours to get our lift tickets and rental gear. The staff is terrible. I have never experienced such useless employees in my life. We waited in the lift ticket line for over an hour and once we finally l got to the front the worker shut his window and had us merge into another line. There were only two windows open helping hundreds of people. The gear line was even worse with even more useless workers. They were a bunch of high teenagers passing out gear. They didn't even have enough gear for the people that were there. I had to wear boots that were 2.5 sizes too large and when I left the rental spot to put my boots on I realized they gave me two left footed boots. I'll never return to this spot ever again.

Yesterday I came to Beech Mountain for the 2pm snow tubing session. I had been to other ski resorts to tube before and was looking forward to snow tubing here. I ended up pretty disappointed with the experience. I am aware that I tube at my own risk but the staff that was directing the course were putting others at risk. They would direct other people down the slope before the person before them had time to clear the lane. I was able to tube about 3x before getting hit so hard by another person on a snow tube that I had to quit. The other person that ran into me, although very apologetic, was also hurt to the point she didn t want to tube after either. I witnessed other people getting trampled by oncoming tubes that was directed by staff before the bottom was clear as well. Overall I was disappointed in the experience and won t return to Beech Mountain.

I have been coming to Beech Mountain with my Family since I was 16 years old with my Dad (I'm 51 now) I now have kids and am married and bring my little 5 year old to Beech as well. This past visit seems like things are getting worse!, We did ski school last year with my step daughter and friends and my wife. This year it seems even worse, the Instructors in ski school seem to "take over" the Bunny slope, hogging up the whole area like they own it!. We came on Sunday during the Twilight Shift ( 2pm) and the two young boys helping the kids on the J bar were "only" letting the ski school line on the Bar?? I asked them both " why dont you alternate" the lines? "just doing my job man" is what he said He asked if I wanted to talk to his Boss, and I said "yes" ! I do! he said "or we can just take your ticket! I said no you wont! Really Beech is that the way you train your staff to be rude? I Then went down to Administration and spoke a kinda short balding guy, he said No they should be alternating lines and he would take care of it......He never did, I spent over 100.00 dollars on two adult and on youth ticket and left at 5 pm because it was so bad...
My suggestions:
Rope off an area just for the Ski school
Alternate the lines at the J Bar

If and when I decide to spend mine and my familys hard earned money and try again next year, I hope you will listen to my suggestions.

Do you enjoy waiting in lines in the cold surround...

Do you enjoy waiting in lines in the cold surrounded by people who may or may not be wearing masks and adhering to covid guidelines? Then Beech Mountain is the place for you. Whether it s waiting for the shuttle at overflow parking, waiting in line for your lift ticket, or waiting in line at the lifts themselves, they ve got it all.

Seriously though - I ve never waited around so much in my life. At every turn it felt like another incredibly long line - and we didn t even have to rent equipment. That line was incredibly long. At the end of the day we finally left, not because we were done skiing and ready to go home, but because we couldn t bear to wait in another lift line.

And this is supposedly after reducing capacity for covid. I find that hard to believe.

Came to Beech Mountain during spring break. Advice to anyone wanting to come here, don t. The only staff on site that was nice was in the ski rental shop. Everyone else seemed bothered we were here spending our hard earned money. Cafeteria had day old food, locker room was not clearly marked, and worst was that we brought a child here to see snow are learn how to ski and the ski instructors called in and no one could offer any help today or for the rest of the entire week. Spent 400 for 2 hours on the slopes.

Beech Resort is by far the best ski resort in the high country! The slopes are perfect with a great width to prevent any run ins or accidents. There's quite an abundance of slopes and lifts. Each run is unique with it's own personality and scenery. The staff is always smiling like their having the time of their lives along with you. It creates such a positive atmosphere that you will never want to leave. As if this wasn't amazing enough, they also offer tubing, ice skating, and brew their own beer!! To take things to the next level, they put a bar at the top of the mountain. My personal favorite!! Nothing is quite like watching children, newbies, and pros with a beer in your hand taking in all the beautiful moments happening. They also have multiple sources for food, shops, and lockers for your equipment. You should definitely make Beech Mountain Resort part of your next trip to Boone or any surrounding area!

Beech Mountain is the best resort. We live in Tennessee and are a few hours drive from all the southeast resorts. We always choose Beech. They have the best facilities, staff and amenities and always seem to be improving things. They also have great live music all year long and when the temperatures are right, you cannot beat their snowmaking. We especially have enjoyed night skiing this year under the new stadium slope lights. I recommend you give it a try!

Our family of five (3 boys ages 14 and under) spent the New Years holiday up at Beech Mountain and had the best time. They have a new lift (QUAD) that you load up by conveyor belt which is awesome. The staff/service is always top notch and we love the different food/beverage options (they have their own brewery and also an awesome bar at the top of mountain). Beech mountain is like it's own little environment up high above everything else. Can't wait to get back! This was the view from our slopeside/ski in-out chalet.

mountain bike last weekend. This place is a bunch of misfits managed by a bunch of idiots owned by people who could care less about you. Trails were in poor condition due to lift construction and not marked properly. Half of them were not open. Lifts were not running and vans working at 1/3 capacity. However they will still charge you full price.

Best mountain in NC by far. Been coming to Beech, Sugar, and App for 12+ years and Beech continues to improve the experience every year. Of all the mountains they have the friendliest staff including lift line operators, dining, and ski patrol. They upgraded their snowmaking capabilities last year and continue to make improvements to blowers, chairlifts, and dining options every year. Sometimes the weather will just not cooperate but when it does, Beech is where you want to go.

I am not one to go on and try to hurt any business by posting 1 star reviews when I am mad, but would like to help people like me that use reviews to assist planning a trip. I just stayed in blowing rock and tried out sugar, beech and Appalachian. After doing research I chose Beech for my Saturday since they do reservations in advance and sugar was first come first serve. Also heard beech had wider slopes that may help navigate crowds. Prior to this trip I have skied snowshoe many times and out west. I am not comparing nc mountains to them because I know that wouldn t be fair and I had harnessed my expectations.

I will say I liked the looks of the mountain and it could be fun. Unfortunately I couldn t ski it on a Saturday. I had my 7 and 10 year old who are really good skiers, but it was the busiest ski resort I have ever seen. The lift lines were a couple Hundred yards long, so much so that you had to try to wait in part of the run which was still steep and uncomfortable to wait in. I will just say the environment was not family friendly, and in the one run we did it was more like playing dodge ball than skiing. I thought since we booked in advance that they may have a cutoff for slope tickets to keep it manageable. Just not the case, way oversold the tickets and the whole resort was just out of control. I am not saying don t try Beech Mountain, just don t go on a Saturday and with kids. I may try it again if I can ditch the kids and just go with some buddies and party myself. But this time we waited what seemed like forever to get on the main lift, took one run then left, just wasn t worth it. Now to be fair sugar and Appalachian could be just as bad on a Saturday I just wouldn t know because I went to them on Thursday and Friday. If I go back to the area I won t ski anywhere on the weekend.

Best place to ski in NC period no matter what anyo...

Best place to ski in NC period no matter what anyone tells you. And hears why lol Beech has a high speed lift that holds 4 people and takes almost 4 min to get to the top. They have diff features and a nice park (rails boxes jumps etc.). Plus they have a back side run thats 1 and a half mile long easier slope. And plenty of slopes on the front side with nice hits all the way down. Sugar mountain takes at least 15 min on a non crowded day sometimes 20 min when they slow it down and stop because of there crappy middle exit and loading plus i have seen a 2 hour wait on holidays for the lift line. Plus all there runs run into one straight slope that gets way to crowded. Dont get me wrong they have the longest run in NC if you go from the top and take switchback down to the main slope and go to the bottom but theres only one big turn and its 20 feet wide lol (the switchback run). So its a really boring run after one time because theres nothing to do but go fast and theres no jumps nothing to ride up on or have fun with and god forbid they have a bump or anything its so boring to ski there. Plus when you count in the lift ride time at sugar and the longest run is only like 200 feet more then beech mtn. It would make since to go to beech because you can get in twice the skiing and plus the runs are allot more entertaining. Plus beer at sugar is $8 for the small one of some crappy craft beer lol. BEECH is like $4 I think and like 2 or 3 for can brews. Now theres APP ski Mountain what can i say that place is a sweet park ( great for kickers rails boxes money booters etc) best in NC maybe. But the ski part of the mtn is a joke on itself its like a football feild on a angle lol. But if you want to go act a fool in the park nice place to go. Just dont plan on getting a run in longer then a min there (no lie i can go down there longest run in like 45 sec). APP is also a smoke free and alcohol free resort. But point of the story you can read all the other reviews and go to all the other resorts and find out but unless you want to pay highest prices on east coast and longest lift lines (SUGAR MTN) or ski on one of the smallest resorts in the world (APP MTN) head to the best (BEECH MTN)

There are no bunny slopes you are offered one small training area and when you are done you go to the slopes...which are super icey.
The rentals were not ran very well it took 2 hours to get through the line which caused us to lose 1 hour of our skiing time and the boots kept un-hooking.
Lastly, half of the bathroom are shut down so we are forced to go into the nasty Porta potty after everyone (which isn't too covid friendly) but ironically the workers will remind you every 2 minutes to keep your mask on the entire time or they will not hesitate to kick you out.

Had a great experience today. Staff was very professional and courteous. Special recognition to Owen Freeman and Ben at group lessons. Those guys were great. Owen immediately build rapport by asking where we were from and if we had skied before. Ben was very patient and took his time explaining and demonstrating. Parking was a disaster. Management needs to get a handle on it. More staff needed for parking duties.

we had never ridden a snow tube after ticketing, cause of a muddy sledge and tube (photo) during presidents' day weekend. and many people wrote requests for refunds that day, but we heard that "maybe it is impossible..." Is there any policy on sledging yard rest?

I did the snow tubing with the kids. Staff was patient with the kids, friendly, and really made our day. The supervisor was great too, he was so nice! Much better than Hawks nest, we loved it! Thanks for a great time!!

I purchased a ticket for the wrong day and when I called the first time I spoke with someone who said that there was nothing they could do and I was super bummed because I would have wasted $72 but then Leslie from group sales I believe called me back and she changed the reservation day and time for me and made me feel at ease. She is not only friendly but super helpful and has great customer service.

Not for beginners or during a pandemic.

Unemployment right now is at an all time high yet this place was way understaffed. They needed at least 10 more employees in the rental shop. It took over an hour to get our skis for a 5 hour pass. We paid over $200 for a five hour pass for them to shut everything down after 4 hours without notice.

No signs for lockers. They are hidden under the ski rentals.

Went for dinner at 7:30 and they only had a few hot items left. Pretty sure those items had been sitting there a while too.

NOT FOR BEGINNERS - This place is not for beginners at all. There is only one small slope about the size of a five bowling lanes wide.

While our group will be back to ski, the group reservation process was beyond disappointing. While I understand holiday weekends are hard, customer service should ALWAYS be top notch. A few days before the trip I called to pay our invoice to avoid having to do it day-of. When I spoke to the woman she asked if our adult group of 22 could come any earlier than 11am. Driving 5 hours from the coast, and leaving at 5am already, this was not an option. She was worried they would run out of rental equipment and I asked why I even bothered making a reservation 2 months ahead and she said you and thousands of other people are trying to come to the mountain that weekend and we can t accommodate everyone. We ve never had this many people . This sad excuse didn t come with any apology for the lack of secure renting options. She also told me there wouldn t be much parking and that our bus may not be able to drop our people off but I could just sternly tell the parking guards (who didn t even end up existing) to let us by. She attempted to reserve us a spot but after arriving I don t think this was ever a possibility with their set up. I m writing this to say in the future, while I will continue to visit I will not bring my group to rent here. It seems many many resorts fall short when it comes to group sales. The mountain itself is wonderful but group sales is an area that needs much improvement.

Nice staff but a little bush league when we opening on Xmas, not ready after a storm. Opened at 1pm but only 1 lift running. Took 1 hour for 2nd lift to run, and not until after 330 for 3rd lift to open. Seemed unprepared for the storm even with an afternoon start. Should be more communicative on website before opening. Also took until 1030 for updated snow report on website.

I LOVE IT! The staff is awesome., the beer is awesome, ski patrol is awesome, the runs are awesome and the patrons are awesome. I look forward to going every weekend with my family and anyone else that I can manage to drag up there. Did I forget to mention how AWESOME it is? :)

They had the snow blowers on all day, visibility was terrible. You could only see about 5-10ft on large sections of every route making for very dangerous conditions. Full prices were charged and no refunds given even though we had bought twilight passes and night skiing was horribly dangerous for the beginners in our group and we had to leave before night skiing even started. And yes, staff informed us snow blowing would continue all day and all night.

Parts can get icy even when the snow is all natural and every tree is white. Watch out for finding small sections of ice after a few runs especially is you didn't go out early. Also skiied over an asphalt road covered in thick ice and a good amount of snow on a black diamond. As long as you see it, it's quite the slide for the speed you're going. It's alot of fun. I like Beech and Sugar Mts the best in that area, Beech has a far longer run if you map it out... detouring through the snowboard terrain run on skiis is a little bumpy but you can some great air if you started way up top and good speed. You can easily map out how to ski around all the much slower boarders.

I've been twice and both experiences were less than desirable. First day I went with friends and 3 of us fell as we were walking up the steps as they had an ice slab at the bottom of there MAIN entrance that was never salted.. Lastly We went again and my skis were not fitted properly and kept falling off. It took me an hr.and half to walk/slide down the peek only to wait 20.mins to get back in to turn them back in only to be told that there's nothing that they can do unless there is a lift problem... Not very customer friendly and watch your step... Was expecting a better time for $80.00 not skis that were unridable and a simple sorry from Administration.. Maybe I'll try them again, but mostlikely NOT!!!

Could not have been more disappointed. While the area and the mountain itself were perfect and we enjoyed the slopes, the management HORRIBLY OVERBOOKED the facilities. It was a total profit grab over the holiday weeks, and they couldn't have cared less about customer experience. Hours in line to pick up the tickets you booked online and paid in advance. Then more hours in line to get the equipment you also book online and paid in advance. Even the kids Traxx program was so overbooked that my kids hated it. An entire 4-hour morning and all they got was one ride up the magic carpet. Really? The salt in the wound was that after we waited forever to get our tickets, and equipment, then the lines at the lifts were 30-40 minutes long. Waiting 30 minutes to do a 4 min run down the mountain is absurd. We paid a total of $865 in lift tickets and equipment rental for our family of 4 to have 2 days on the mountain. I think we got a total of 10 runs in over 2 days due to the lines and congestion. Needless to say I'll never go back and I'll make damn sure none of my close friends or family ever do either.

Very crowded. Made people park in a muddy field and almost everyone got stuck. I definitely got stuck a few time. Long wait for buses to get to resort. Seems like a nice place but was unable to do anything due to everything being sold out.

Although they stopped blowing snow early this year, they maintain the snow very well, the lift operators are friendly, and the views are wonderful. Runs are easier than others I've been on out west but that's fine.

Good ski slopes but that's about it. Bought our tickets a day ahead of time after they sold out the day of. Got there at 8 am to get lift tickets and ski rentals because lifts open at 9. Line for tickets took 30 min and line for rentals took an hour and a half. We wanted to have our kids take lessons but that line was over 2 hours. By the time we got on the slopes lines for each lift were over 30 min. Got on the slopes and did 4 runs with my family before 1 pm half day pass expired. They did great with COVID measures which I appreciate. They really need to further limit the amount of tickets they sell. The crowding and lines were just unacceptable. Also busted water lines left the lockers and bathrooms unavailable. Port a potty was nasty as usual.

This review is not intended mean spirited but I just want to tell it like it is so you will not be surprised. I was. I don't have some ax to grind and to be fair I have skied out west and up in the Virginias. I am sure it's hard to make the numbers work running a ski facility in NC and it's easy to be an armchair quarterback. My kids and I had a pretty good time skiing at Beech Mountain. The staff was generally friendly and accommodating. The slopes really are OK but there is only one decent intermediate run and one easy beginner run.....everything else is advance. That didn't leave a lot of room for novice skiers moving up...and forget visiting the sky bar with anybody who can't make it down a black diamond. (I didn't go there because the young kids couldn't make it but I did hear it was the newest thing there) The long intermediate run was served by a fairly old lift that my 14 year old newbie daughter described as a "little scary". My older daughter and I did like the high speed quad lift to the top. The only easy run is the bottom part of the diamond runs so you need to be careful not to get yourself, or your little people, run over by some hot shot finishing his way down.
To the meat of it....I think calling this place a resort is a stretch. It's just a place to ski that is surrounded by development that is separate from it. My wife doesn't ski and I imagined there might be a cozy place she could kick back while she was waiting for the kids and I,...that doesn't exist from what I saw. It looks like the ski facility was built in the late 70's and they haven't revisited it much since. The main building is not a lodge, and the "cafeteria", which is in a separate building, are in some serious need of some renovations. I could just about forgive them the place being antiquated but not so much for the place being dirty. How about use a broom, a mop and a rag sometime and sweep the locker room and ski rental area? The locker room specifically didn't look like it had been swept in a week or more. You really didn't want your sock foot or anything you were wearing to drop and possibly touch the floor. The parking lot was in some serious need of some loads of stone..... muddy, muddy, muddy. My car is a mess, but again to be fair, skiing is a dirty undertaking with all the melt water and such. The rental gear I got for my kids was old and not the greatest quality, and I really wished I had brought some with me. The food was not so good either. The skiing itself was pretty good....which is I suppose the main thing that matters.
My advice: Rent or bring your own skis from elsewhere. Pack your own lunch and refreshments. Figure out how not to rent a locker and work out of your car if you can. Don't expect some posh experience and enjoy the place for what it is.....pretty decent skiing for a fair price. Just know what you are getting into.

They could have been making snow for days but didnt so the slopes were covered in grassy patches. One of the lift had an absurdly steep unload ramp that was ice. Probably 1 of every 3 people fell, stopping the lift. Rental boots were pieces of junk. Staff was friendly. Prices very reasonable. Inexcusable though skimping on the snowmaking just because the season is near the end.

This is an amazing place to go ski! Hardly any wait for the lift lines and very good trails. However, given this was our first time skiing, Me and my friends took a ski lesson before hitting the slopes. In our lesson, there was two males and two females. Martin Smokla was my ski instructor, who definitely had favorites for no reason other than my friends were women. He singled out the two male participants during the entire lesson. Everything my two female friends did was correct, but everything me and my male friend did was completely wrong. He s also not personable at all. If you re going to take ski lessons, ask for anyone else other than Martin Smokla!
