I was driving on the highway and experienced a problem, called Subaru Canada...no one picks up the phone.. July 30, 2019... 4 hrs later at 3:33pm, no one is still picking.. what kind of company is this...
This is the last time Im dealing with Subaru when my lease is up.

Poor customer service. From the business manager downwards..presently lease a 2014 subaru. No change to customer service. Leave a msg for the Business mgr, you would think they would me to renew the lease but not.. will look to other dealerships.

I noticed all reviews involving warranty and not standing to their words seem to be a common problem with this brand Subaru Canada. I myself dealt with warranty problems that they did not honor and argued.
It is their COMPLIANCE DEPARTMENT that needs to be looked at and blamed. Jordan Bourlieet, the Director of Compliance and his Boss from the Compliance department are the most arrogant and rude management I have come across. They are certainly damaging all customers by not delivering their promised warranties and agreed upon terms but worse case they are negatively affecting Subaru Sales. All these customers will not come back and stay away from this Subaru of Canada arrogrant and rude and deceiving attitude by their Compliance department.
Their strategy is if customers are un happy we will find other customers but looking at these reviews and their practice its obvious no one is happy and their is a much bigger problem which is YOU- Subaru Canada and your Compliance Department and Your so called Boss

Long waiting time. Brampton Subaru put you on hold and then you get disconnected. They have lots of recalls it appears they have started making lemons. I do not recommend anyone buying Subaru.

When my parents bought a Subaru at Marino's Fine Cars Subaru, they anticipated being part of the Subaru family. But due to their most recent experience with this dealership, we realize that Subaru too, like all other automobile companies, is just big business after a profit with no concern for their customers. What good is "confidence in motion" if we have no confidence in the way we will be treated?

On September 19th, 2017, my parents confidently brought their car into Marino's to be looked at. With only 34,000km on the car, and having just had an alignment done in July, the rear tire was surprisingly worn down to the metal. After dropping the car off, they were surprisingly told to find their own way home - shockingly, no courtesy ride was offered or available!

My parents were called back the next morning to pick up car. When they arrived, they were told that the worn tire was not part of the warranty, and nothing was done, leaving the dangerous tire on for them to drive home with. My parents asked, "why didn't the mechanics at least put on the spare tire?", and were told that it was not their (Subaru's) responsibility. My 70 year old father then had to attempt to put on the spare tire in the parking lot of the dealership, in 30 degree heat, I might add!

I am disgusted by the way my parents were treated, and they are understandably very disappointed. It would have taken nothing for them to be treated fairly: a polite conversation with the warranty situation explained their options clearly outlined, perhaps a slight disount on a new tire and installation for free, and at the very least, a hand installing the spare time, for the mean time. But nothing like this was done. And so, instead of feeling confident with Subaru, their opinion of the car company is greatly tarnished.

This is not the way to treat customers, but rather embarrassing. Subaru Canada needs to take action in the regard, and speak to the dealership, and make this situation right. Otherwise, there is obviously nothing to be said for Subaru and their concern for the customers!

Subaru Canada has the worst customer service of anyone I have had to deal with. There is a recall warranty on the transmissions of 2016 Crosstreks. My transmission failed, and my car is not driveable. It has been at the dealers for 3 weeks and no one returns phone calls or gives any information. From reading other reviews I see that the service and warranties are a joke. I used to like Subarus but no longer. Too much deflecting from dealer to Subaru Canada. Feels like a tennis match and I am the ball. I am without a car and can't afford to rent one. Abominable , horrible service.

I just wanted to send a big SHOUT OUT to you Subaru, for using your commercial space on t.v. (which I know is not cheap) to thank those who are out there working to make our lives better. THANK YOU, you're one CLASS ACT SUBARU!!

Always trying to save money and washing their hands off it and making the customers suffer. Local dealerships can not do do anything because these guys will not support their local dealerships either.

I am starting a Class action law suit against these guys. Any one who wants to join me, email me with your numbers and I will add and include your complaints.

Some one has to set these guys straight. Regulators are already looking in to these people..

Thank you to all the Subaru owners that have taken the time to provide honest feedback. I was thinking of purchasing a Subaru Outback to replace my Acura TLX SH-AWD , but will now look at other carmakers after reading the reviews.

I own a 2016 WRX. Worst customer service ever. They cancelled my warranty because I have an AOS but the problem with my car was my suspension. Didn't bother to call them and asked why. Never going to buy a Subaru and let all my friends know how bad this company is.

This review is a comment on Subaru Canada and not ...

This review is a comment on Subaru Canada and not the dealership. In March of this year a check engine light (CEL) came on. Eventually the car was misfiring, brought it to the dealership for fixing. To make the 5 month saga of my WRX 2017 short, my car remained in the service department at the dealership for 5 months. They performed 2 carbon cleans, a Terra clean, disassembled the engine to inspect and clean the carbon buildup, performed an idle relearn, replaced the left knock sensor, replaced valve seals, center pipe hardware badly corroded, used extractor and air hammer to remove hardware, replaced the EGR assembly, replaced the fuel injectors and who knows what else... this is a less than 3 year old car !!
We were patient at first, we started questioning the service manager at the dealership as to why it was taking so long by the end of April. What we were told is that it was a back and forth exchange of instructions and data between Subaru Canada and the service department of the dealership. They would do one thing then report back to Subaru Canada. After reviewing the data, Subaru Canada would tell them to proceed with another fix.
They returned the car to me by mid August. The dealership replaced the cracked windshield as a goodwill gesture.
At first we accepted the loaner car, however when they asked us to return the loaner as they had sold it, at the end of April, we refused another loaner as we did not want the loaner car to be an excuse to take their time for repairing my WRX
We called the Subaru-Canada client care line, issuing a complaint and asking for compensation after one month of this ordeal. Every time we would call it was the same thing, Subaru Canada was going to repair the car under warranty . How long was it going to take ?? They couldn t answer. By the beginning of July, we were trying to escalate things, wanting to speak to the manager of customer care at Subaru-Canada, to no avail. End of July, beginning of August, the service manager at the dealership admitted that our car was an enigma, they had requested a service engineer from Subaru Canada to come . He never showed up.
I called Subaru-Canada customer care department to see if there was any progress with the service engineer. Since I had started the proceclaim ss with CAMVAP, they responded that they could not do anything for me as my file was with their lawyers !! I then told them to get my file back as I was not going to pursue with a CAMVAP claim and to FIX my car !
I finally took matters in my own hands: by Googling, I found the name of the senior director, after sales at Subaru Canada (which was not easy to find). I emailed this manager, who responded and copied the manager of customer care. My email stated: (1) when would I get my car back repaired as there seemed to be no urgency on the part of Subaru-Canada (2) I wanted Subaru-Canada buyback my vehicle as I did not trust it anymore. A car that takes 5 months to repair, I would never want to drive it on a road trip!
The manager of customer care emailed me and eventually we spoke on the phone. One question I asked was: What is a reasonable time to resolve a warranty issues and repair issues with their vehicles ? The manager did not have a straight forward answer.
My car was returned to me on August 15th, and the customer care manager agreed to discuss monetary compensation. I did not get the amount I thought I deserved; they did not agree to pay for 5 months of depreciation on my vehicle.
As previously mentioned, I no longer trusted this car, so finally I traded the WRX for another vehicle (not a Subaru). While waiting for the new car, we drove it around, but mostly kept it in the garage. The morning we drove it for the trade in, the Check Engine Light returned. I was ecstatic to have traded in this lemon of a car !!!
Subaru Canada s focus has turned towards marketing and advertising and less towards customer service and product reliability. Because of this I would never recommend buying a Subaru vehicle !

We have just had our first Subaru (Crosstrek) from Willowdale Subaru and so far are very impressed by its performance. It is loaded with many new technology that will help improve safety during the drive. Many thanks to Grace Long who took the time and explain in detail all the great features of this car (and other models) at our first visit and also provided exceptional service during our subsequent visits. Thanks also to Katerina and Ibrahim for their other friendly introduction and detailed explanations. All in all, our visit to Willowdale Subaru is a very present experience! Thank You.

i wish i had better news, after going in for some routine service i was told that i needed a full transmission flush and differential flush. i showed them that this had been done at another service center. With a condescending and stern voice they told me that they wouldn't recognize their service (its another dealership) . i'm an older fellow and they talked to me like i was a child. Then they had the audacity to tell that i should not go to the other dealership. Its obvious that service has slipped here massively, there is a serious lack of leadership here, everyone there has a different story and nobody will every own up to anything truthful. DON"T go here unless you want to be patronized and belittled

Buyer beware. Bought two family Subarus

A 2015 and 2018 at first had no issues and heard good things about them little did we know .

All cars were all maintained by the way (receipts)

2015 crosstrek - Spent 2 years going back and forth with the dealership (Maple) with rust issues inside the car engine bay area and two doors rust inside. Car has the rust module (does it do anything clearly) finally they replaced / fixed the metal door 3rd issue not on rear doors rust outside and roof (2nd year on going back and forth Subaru of Maple..claim processed but no one is getting back to me on when they can fix it.)
Transmission got replaced at 160km should have been done at 140km.

2018 Impreza - at 60k the engine started burning oil after fighting back and forth with the dealership and Subaru of Canada since no one wanted to do anything about it and blamed it on us, they tried to run out the warranty at 120k finally after a year they swapped the engine mean time with the rental my wife had to go back and forth each day for a new rental while working at the hospital on her lunch breaks because Subaru of Maple kept on selling the rentals they have to her. Got the car back traded it in for another Make.

Since then anyone I know had a Subaru has sold them or traded them in. Nothing good about Subaru anymore.

I've been told i can get an appointment in 7 months to rectify a safety recall "which may lead to injury or death of vehicle occupants". I've offered to get the work done elsewhere and Subaru could cover the costs. apparently this is not an option, it's safer for me to wait 7 months. beyond disappointed. I love this car, but don't think i can every buy another Subaru because of this epic fail. (negative stars isn't an option, or that's what i would have done)

I agree with Elaine comment below. Although the dealership is involved, it is the tone at the top which is the parent company Subaru of Canada which is mainly responsible.
In my humble opinion, the dealerships try to resolve issues but are binded by the arrogant head office Subaru of Canada who plays games with the customers and does not care one bit about the customers. Sure they have a customer satisfaction manager and a phone line but that is just there to bounce you around and will never resolve anything for you. We purchased a Subaru legacy and went through the same channel. At first we went through customer service at Subaru Canada, since the local dealership was not able to fix our problem. The customer service manager did not do anything. Once we were upset and filed a complaint, Subaru of Canada forwarded the file to their legal. We were told the file was with the compliance manager and his name was Jordan Bor. After leaving him so many messages and emails he never returned one call or email. From his Voice mail, we can not tell even if he speaks proper English. The least courtesy would be to communicate to your customer
We have decided never to own a Subaru due to Subaru of Canada and also after reading all these reviews we are certain that this is a repeated pattern by Subaru of Canada. This is a company now that thinks by advertising they will be able to gain more customers but all customers these days review seller reputation and patterns. This genuine review is written to warn customers and buyers, hopefully they can see for themselves.

I purchased a vehicle from a private dealership. A 2010 WRX. I noticed that the rear trunk was rusting, almost as if it was rusting from the inside out. There were about 8-10 different spots on the rear truck, about 1-3cm in diameter. Called Subaru Canada, they advised to go to the nearest dealership and they would decide if it was covered under the rust perforation warranty. They took pictures, called me back and said yest they would repair the rust under a "good will" gesture. Fantastic.

Here's the frustrating part. I was called to drop off the car on Tuesday by 730am. I dropped it off Monday at 530, as I would not be able to make it that early. I was advised by multiple different people that the car would be done by Friday. I receive a call on Thursday at 430pm advising me that not only will I not get my car on Friday, they are not sure when they would be able to start work on my car let alone give me an approximate date and time. Left a vm for the manager Thursday at 630pm, it is 130pm on Friday and I have no idea when to expect my car back.

I will not deal with Subaru again. Poor customer experience and lack of ownership, seems that it is always someone else s fault.

I have nothing good things to say about my local dealership and my 2018 impreza. I find it funny people are turning away from buying a car from comments they've seen here but I looked at Mazda, Honda and other headquarters reviews and it the same situation everywhere. Sigh.. People breed to make judgments for themselves

2011 Forester brand new, burned oil from day, took it to Subura and they did a few oil consumption tests, said it was normal and within limit (1 litre every 2000kms), kept burning oil so needed to add 0W20 constantly, asked Subaru Canada about it, said it's normal, decided to sell it this year as I had enough of it (purchased a Honda Pilot...way better car), 1 month later got a letter saying the warranty was extended to 8 years 160,000kms, try listening to your customers instead of trying to pass off your deficiencies as normal, was my first and last Subaru

I bought the Subaru Forester from Subaru of Mississauga in December 2016 and in June 2017 I have weird noice coming from back of the car and I went to Subaru of Mississauga to fix it and they work on my car and give it me back and said that it's fixed but very next day I noticed the noice is still there and I booked appointment again and leave my car there for 2week and get Bach they said it's fixed but again next day I found noice is still there then again I booked appointment and leave my car there for 9 week (today) but my car is still there and I keep calling them the last answer was it's not fixed we r still working on it and they don't know when they gonna fixed it try to aware general manager about the problem few times but every time he tell me I will find out and give you callback but never get any signal call from there manager and even I give service person a msg to tell there manager to call me but never ever I got called. And I send money for driving car but they just want to keep with them it's been 4 months total with that problem today but still they don't want to fixed it yet every time I got same answer we r still working on it . Not even single person trying to understand my situation or help me I m totally helpless because I paid money now they don't even care what happened with me .

And finally today I try to complain about that issue with the Subaru of Canada but I got really really bed answer from them either they said we can not do anything you have to wait till dealerships fix the problem doesn't matter problem wasn't fixed from last 4 months still you have to wait that's all. They are as rude as dealerships they don't even car whatever happened with you. They got their money now who cares for us no one. Thank u Subaru

If I can give Nagative stars I give this Subaru -100. Negative 100 stars. Thank you very much for your really really very very bed customer service

I wish I could give this car manufacturer 0 stars....

I wish I could give this car manufacturer 0 stars. Purchased a 2016 WRX STI back in July of 2015. Invested in this vehicle from their advertisement for a "reliable" vehicle. My vehicle followed the required maintenance by the manufacturer. Had a check engine light at 86000 kilometers for a cylinder #2 misfire, sent it to the dealership repairs. It took around 5 months to repair. I did not put any mods to the vehicle.

2-3 months after receiving the vehicle after repairs, my vehicle's head gasket was blown. Had to pay for towing to transport my vehicle to the dealership. I contacted the Subaru Care line twice by phone to speak to their manager regarding my vehicle. The receptionist that answered told me that their manager would contact myself. Manager never contacted me. The repairs for the blown head gasket took three months.

Now, 5 months after my second repair; the check engine light turned on again and noticed my engine was ticking when accelerating. Sent the vehicle to the dealership to diagnose the problem. Service advisor notified that my engine was consuming too much of the engine oil since the oil level was low and there was no leaks. I filed a complaint with CAMVAP regarding my vehicle's defect. Most likely, I believe CAMVAP will not do anything other than put pressure on the manufacturer to repair the vehicle.

I was sold a lemon, simple as that. Now I'm stuck with a loaner vehicle supplied by the dealership with a $5000 deductible if I'm at fault with a vehicle collision. I would advise anyone to not purchase a vehicle made by Subaru. You will be wasting your time, and your hard earned money on an unreliable vehicle and a manufacturer that does not care about their customers after a purchase was made.

Thus far. The service has been terrible. My wife and I almost lost our lives in a 2016 Subaru Forester that they assured us was safe to drive and we have been waiting weeks now for a response about the dilemma. The cost has been terrible and the warranty and roadside assistance seem useless. We have already contacted CTV news and requested a story from Pat Foran. Still waiting for their response before we go public and release the whole story.

I think this brand used to be very good but now, think again. Got a 2016 subaru, its soon 3 years in a few weeks. I noticed there are a lot of rust at the bottom of the car, exhaust pipes and other areas where I can see the part has turned rusty. I showed to the dealer and they said Subaru rust coverage doesn't cover that. That's misleading because when I got the car, they said 3 years warranty on rusts for the whole car. The car still functions but I am disappointed.

If I could give a negative number I would. WORST experience of my life hands down. Safe yourself misery and don't shop at Gemini or buy a Subaru PERIOD!!!!!
2015 wrx purchased brand new. Treated very poorly when purchasing until deposit amount came up.
-Stereo head unit kept overheating and shutting down - replaced, now my dash rattles.
-Bluetooth speaker was cutting in and out - replaced, now it can't be used unless pressure applied to it.
-Blown motor - 10 week motor repair with multiple failures instead of motor replacement, not offered a rental until week 4 with zero help from anyone including subaru customer care. Scratches all over front end, rattling front end, smells like burning when driven. Asked about buy out at initial hearing of blown motor and was offered 25k for it, then not even 4 months later and less than 1000km was offered only 21k.
-less than 1000km after motor rebuild and ample testing the intake blew off (only issue spoke of by Gemini) leaving it stranded on side of highway, waiting 4 hours for tow truck back to Kitchener.
- automatic start wouldn't work after rebuild as the hood switch was bent down, simple fix was to just simply bending it back!
-less than 2000km after rebuild engine light came on, flashing sport mode and car can't seem to figure out what it wants to do, had another mechanic check the code and 3 codes came up- engine knock, can shaft placement, engine stall. Gemini could only "see" the engine stall code which is remedied by a computer update, but no answer for the 2 missing codes.
Left with an absolute LEMON with no reliability, no responsibility by Gemini or Subaru and no one wanting to resolve the issue or even help resolve it.
Absolute worst purchase and experience of my life!
I hope this deters people from dealing with subaru as a whole!

Amazed that Subaru Canada could not retain the services of Master Mechanic, John Wedley at Subaru Brampton.
John was the heart of the entire Subaru of Brampton facility, and the only reason I serviced and purchased multpile vehicles from Subaru. John helped to establish a loyal client base at Subaru Brampton, and its a shame that Subaru Canada did not work to retain his services (losing him to Mercedes).
Looks like I will be taking my service amd sales business elsewhere.

Subaru Customer Service and their so called "Warranty" if it should even be allowed to called that are just simply awful. After being a Subaru supporter all my life and telling my friends that the STI is something that they should definitely own, I have come to the point where I am no longer saying that and going to advise everyone to stay away from this awful company. They do not honour their warranty at the techs and customer service agents are not qualified nor are they smart enough to determine defects in vehicles. They have told me my car has been modded when I took it to the dealership in Richmond Hill and they showed me the report stating it was NOT modded with no modifications found. They are quick to take your money like someone else mentioned but don't do anything to help you out. Since this was my first big car purchase I am going to make sure that this company greatly suffers through social media and make other people aware to steer clear of this garbage brand.

I have been a fan of Subaru since I learned how to drive in one, but recently Subaru of Maple and Subaru of Canada have destroyed all of my confidence in their brand. Within 2 years of beginning my lease with a 2017 Subaru Impreza, there have been 2 life threatening manufacturer defects that have been uncovered on the lemon of a car that they put me in (not to mention the recalls...). We acted in good faith, having the repairs on these MANUFACTURER DEFECTS done "under warranty", however, neither this Subaru of Maple or Subaru of Canada have acted in kind and presented us with a bill for the pleasure of narrowly avoiding death (TWICE!), after their own admission that these in fact were manufacturer defects that should be entirely covered under warranty. We have talked to every level of management at Subaru of Maple, aside from Bruno who will not return our calls, and we have attempted to contact Subaru of Canada, who also will not return our messages. This Subaru of Maple is a despicable dealership, and they should be ashamed of their actions, their staff, and the sub par product that they have sold, as should Subaru of Canada who have supported their actions. Avoid this Subaru of Maple, avoid Subaru of Canada, and avoid Subaru in general, as they have proved that they cannot be trusted in any way and sell unreliable, defective, LIFE THREATENING products.

Sevice department is rude, does not care of customer. They dropped me off my office nearby early morning to fix a/c, did not pick me up without call. I paid taxi to come home extra $200. When I get there there is no apology, greeting. I feel so bad.

Very disappointed with Brampton Subaru's service department. I just called them to book an appointment for the valve springs RECALL on Impreza vehicles and was brushed away and denied service by the CSR since I did not buy my car from their location, even though I live 10mins away from Brampton Subaru now. Ironically, when I dialed their number the first thing I heard was, "this call will be recorded for quality assurance". I really hope they review the tape on this call (date Feb 2, 2019, time ~9:40). Also note, the Recall notice states, "to locate the NEAREST authorized Subaru Dealer, please visit....".

If Subaru is monitoring any of this feedback, I hope they understand that these are pretty amazing cars (built in Japan), ideal for Canadian weather, but dealerships such as Brampton Subaru are tarnishing the brand by the awful customer service. We're talking about a RECALL related service here involving safety risks!

Purchased a new Subaru in November. I qualified for the Subaru Triathlon Athlete rebate. Its now the end of April and I have yet to see that rebate. I've called an spoken to someone from Subaru Canada 6 times to get some information about this, and every time the response is "we're looking into it".

If you're planing on purchasing a new Subaru. 1) Don't. 2) The "rebates" are a total scam. Don't fall for it.

Purchased a Subaru Certified Lemon from a Subaru dealership and Subaru Canada is ignoring all subsequent e-mails after the first inquiry was answered with a generic and unhelpful response.

Car repairs / problems within one year of purchase:

1) The electric steering rack
2) The alternator
3) The accessory belt - which fully blew right before a planned road trip
4) The air conditioning compressor
5) Oil control valves - on three separate occasions
6) Rust on the roof and left fender as well as bubbling paint.

This doesn't include the number of times that every dash light have come on with no identifiable cause.

Good luck dealing with these guys.

Bought a set of rims via a local dealer, and received damaged rims. scratches. wear, dent, and stickers were all over the places. Contacted both the dealership and Subaru costumer care, but they just kicked the balls to each other, and refuse to replace/repair my rims.

Should have checked the rims upon receiving, and shouldn't have trusted Subaru quality in the first place. I am driving my 2nd Subaru now, and this is the 2nd set of rims bought from Subaru, guess I won't come back again for anything from Subaru.

If possible I would give Zero star rating. Possibly the worst customer service from any vehicle manufacturer. There may as well be absolutely no warranty on the vehicle. On 2 separate occasions, for 2 different issues, warranty claim was denied.....period. The reason - just not covered. Vehicle was a 2018 model with 48K. The entire warranty compliance team at Subaru Canada is arrogant and dismissive. Never again will a buy a Subaru. Everyone raves about how good they are, not so.

Having the ten-year-warranty rust & stain-proof (inside & outside) on my Forrester 2016, I was concerned about what to do when I had to have the side door repainted after serious damage done to it... by a garage pillar; not by me! : ) The sales manager, Timothy, could not have been kinder nor more helpful. He made it all so easy and even went further in answering (and anticipating) questions. It was completed quickly and perfectly. I always have had very good experiences at Ogilvie Subaru in Ottawa but his was exceptional. Thank you!

After we've been fighting with our local dealership, who has mislead us, and lied about replacing the engine, we thought that Subaru Canada would be willing to right a wrong. The car still burns oil, and Subaru Canada is washing their hands of it, even though we still have 30 000km of warranty left!!! They have no interest / ability in fixing a car that was sold with a known issue of burning oil.

A year later we are now driving a all wheel drive GM and it's a better car, but most of all, the service is amazing. Will never go back to Subaru again.

I noticed that Air conditioner on my 2017 Subaru ...

I noticed that Air conditioner on my 2017 Subaru Forester was not working when I turned it on for the first time this season. This was towards the end of May this year. I contacted my local dealer and booked an appointment on June 2nd. Earliest appointment available was June 15. I took my vehicle to dealer and was told that condenser has quit and they will order the condenser and will be in touch with me once received. I did not hear back from dealer so I called them again today. I was shocked to know that there have been so many failures of the condenser and everything is on back order and will take months. I called Subaru Canada and they also confirmed that the condenser are on back order and will take months. There have been so many failures of condensers but Subaru had not issued a recall. By the sounds of these facts I won t have my air conditioner working till winter. This was my first Subaru and will be the last one too. If OEM could not support the parts then don t buy their product. This is not a use and throw item. I would give Subaru a rating of -5 if that was available.

I recently purchased a 2018 Outback and can't say enough good things about it. My last 3 cars were BMW and I would say this Outback is every bit as good in comfort, control and performance. I agree completely with the priorities the Subaru people had in mind when they designed and produced this car. People like me are your bet advertisement.

I also want to applaud Guy Tran, the sales person I dealt with at Subaru Saskatoon. He knew the product; was not pushy and went out of his way with the details.

Subaru of Canada is a thief company that is known for disrespecting its customers via the channel of local dealerships. Subaru of Canada spends a lot of money on marketing but at the end famous in public for its falsifying actions. Misrepresentations, Misquotations, Misinformations and you name it all.
I know so many people who will never touch Subaru car due to the parent company Subaru of Canada. Keep it up and It will not be long when you are out of business. All the people complaining, please file a complain with OMVIC and have this company disciplined. Subaru car is known for blown engines and gaskets. A poor car by a poor parent company Subaru of Canada is also arrogant,

Subaru is known for its high quality vehicles, but unfortunately their customer service is far from mediocre. I have been an adved supporter of subaru for a long period time, however, when it comes to obtaining assistance from them in regards to any mechanical problem covered under warranty, or service bulletin, they expect you to fend for yourself! They are quick to take your money, but when it's time to help you, that's another story. Their Customer service representatives neglected to follow up with numerous voicemails left, and correspondence through email! Im very disappointed with subaru because I had alot of trust imbedded in the company! I have warned family and friends not to buy from them solely based on their customer service!

I really like my 2010 Outback and 2014 Forester. My service has been pretty standard stuff and I have taken my car to two dealerships Barrie Subaru and Marinos (south west Toronto). Going to two different dealers the computers at each dealers do not "talk" to one another.
Barrie Subaru has tried to tell me I need service on my car, when I had the work done on the Marino dealership. Obviously Subaru Barrie has no real mechanics, they just have some guys that read a computer and try to boost their hourly rate but doing work that isn't needed. Barrie Subaru always tries to upsell with unnecessary work. True scum. Less informed people will be taken for hundreds of dollars on each visit
I've always thought Marinos has been very honest and do excellent work.
There seems to be no way to contact Subaru Canada to make complain or just make suggestions. They do not seem have any Customer Hotline or at least a phone or department where you can write. You would truly be lost if you did have a major issue and you would be at the whim of the dealer.

I am continuously having problems with the eye sight on my 2015 Forester
I have taken the car in with this problem. Each time either I was told to remove a Florida sticker from the windshield (which I did) or they did something to the brake pedal that activates a sensor.. Now it stops working randomly. My warranty was over April 30th. But this problem has been going on for years

I own a 2015 Forester. I love driving the car, but have had intermittent, on going rattles in different areas under the dash. I have complained to the dealership and they have tried to address the problem. It is still there. I have phoned the customer complaint number at least 5 times and have never received a call back using the call back system. I am very disillusioned and will likely look elsewhere for my next car.

If you think of Subaru, like you do with Honda or Toyota, as a durable and reliable Japanese car, so let me tell you, please think twice. That s what I thought il when I bought Subaru in summer 2017, ad I thought I had a great deal by buying a less expensive car but durable as the most expensive ones. Unfortunately, I was wrong. Faulty parts every other month, and I didn t feel the pain coz it was under warranty, but when I just passed the 36 month s mark with less than 50,000 Kms, I got another faulty part (EVAP sensor) that cost me $1K
Can you imagine paying a thousand dollar on a car that is less than 50,000 Kms on the road. I can t wait to resell it, and drop Subaru from my list...

If I can only give zero stars I would. I received two recalls WUP-01 and WUQ-02 and all they advice me is to wait until a part is available to rectify the condition. Meanwhile these parts could cause a crash and harm my children, wife and I. Subaru Canada should be vigilant and fix issues like this as soon as possible before lawsuits happened. All I can say is this, after my car gets fixed this will be my last Subaru car.

Subaru Canada Internal La w yers are the worse, and I am talking about their Internal Legal, they take cases on knowingly that it is unethical and they are bothering normal genuine customers, but because they are on a big PAYROLL that's all they care about. Just like Subaru Canada cares about how many cars it sells and makes profits and does not care about customers, same attitude!!!

After 22 excellent years of driving manual transmi...

After 22 excellent years of driving manual transmission Mazda products and receiving excellent client services from Mazda, I thought I would try Subaru, per their marketing campaigns about customer satisfaction, and to drive something different just for a change. I thought I was lucky to receive a great Subaru product (2017 Subaru Forester), which I purchased through Subaru Mississauga.

I just went through 10 days of hell trying to get satisfaction from Subaru services. The manual transmission on my 2017 Subaru Forester (less than 40K kms, began to slip and the car became undriveable while I was away for a weekend in Ottawa. I took it in to Subaru Ogilvie, and they said the clutch was worn out and the entire assembly required replacement. Further, not only was I told by Subaru Ogilvie that I should be driving an automatic because of the wear and tear on the transmission, but I had to find and purchase a flywheel myself at your Subaru Mississauga location and bring it to Ottawa to get it fixed, as they couldn't find one anywhere and it would need to be ordered (I was paying for a rental car in the meantime). I was given the royal runaround between the Ottawa Ogilvie Subaru, the Mississauga Subaru where I purchased it, the Corporate headquarters in Mississauga, and the Protection Plan folks as they all passed the buck and no one was willing to stand up for the product or even consider that there was a mechanical problem with the manual transmission. Unless I can prove that there was a pre-existing mechanical problem to start with, it is not covered due to wear and tear. EVERYTHING IS WEAR AND TEAR in a car.

But with Subaru, it appears I am guilty of bad driving habits, unless I can prove my innocence. I have driven 2 Mazdas, 2 Volkswagens, and 1 Dodge, all in excess of 300,000 kms and never had a clutch problem. I pride myself on my smooth manual transmission operation, and I also refrain from stop and go traffic, as I live in the countryside and avoid heavy traffic. The wear and tear is NOT as a result of my driving, but I believe it must have been a mechanical problem to start with. And the dealership tells me it's my fault and is not covered. This is not acceptable, especially after the smooth story I was given about the complete coverage of the Protection Plan.

At this point, this experience has cost me approximately $2600 in repairs and car rentals, not including my day off and gas. And I had spent $2647 for a worthless Subaru Protection Plan that should have covered this. Nowhere in the policy does it say that it s up to the customer to prove why they should be reimbursed for costs.

In Subaru's eyes, I expect the benefit of doubt goes with the dealer, not the client. Shame on Subaru. I regret that I no longer have faith in Subaru s business practices or product line, and I plan to go back to Mazda, who stand behind their product, or perhaps to Toyota or Volkswagen. I have cancelled my Protection Plan, as it is worthless and a scam, and hope to unload my 2017 Forester as soon as possible. This is completely in reverse of my original plan, which was to become part of the Subaru family. Your cars are nicely designed, but obviously, the company advertises but does not stand behind the product. In 10 days, my view of the company has gone from great to terrible. My social media friends are fully supportive of my plight and have also been surprised by Subaru s stance on this and lack of customer support. No one at Subaru has offered a resolution.

I understand from the Ontario Motor Vehicle Industry Council and the Better Business Bureau that should be informed of the above scenario and I may and can seek dispute resolution services through them, barring satisfaction directly from you, the dealer.

I wish I could end this with a thanks, but not in this case. Please feel free to share this info with your colleagues and managers, as they should be aware of the organization they work for.

Overall my experience with Barrie Subaru was horri...

Overall my experience with Barrie Subaru was horrific, and I would never recommend anyone buy a car from them. They are dishonest, dismissive, and do not have their customers best interest in mind. I am very disgusted that I had to seek legal counsel for their dealership to acknowledge the damages their employees inflicted on my car, and equally disgusted that they think that lying to a customer is acceptable. Barrie Subaru and Dave Morrison (their used car sales manager) took an experience that was supposed to be exciting and happy and turned it into an utter nightmare for me. I am now left with a car I do not want, and a car that I have no idea what they actually did to it as they refused to disclose what actually happened to my car at their dealership. I will never buy another Subaru in my life because of the way I was treated by Barrie Subaru

This is the story of my experience with Barrie Subaru:

I decided on a Subaru Impreza. The following Saturday I went and picked up my car. I was very excited and happy as it was my first big purchase. I drove the car home and once I parked it in my driveway I noticed first that the car was horribly detailed and had stains all over the back, and then noticed the front bumper was cracked, and it had a large scrape of yellow paint down the side as if someone hit it against a curb. I texted my salesperson Luke and he said bring the car in Monday and we will see what we can do to fix things. I brought the car to the dealership, and upon looking at the car Luke stated that those damages were not on the car, and that he would have never sold me a car with those damages and that someone in their service and detailing department was being looked into about the damages sustained to my car, in their possession!

I informed them I no longer wanted that car as those damages were not on the car when I bought it, and I now had no idea what had happened to the car.
Dave Morrison the used car sales manager was very unprofessional and less than helpful when dealing with the situation, and very dismissive towards my Mother and I. He said he would "see what they could do to make me happy" "but could make no guarantee" and that I would hear from them in a day or two, and they would give me a rental car in the meantime.

First of all I did not hear from them for 3 days, and was becoming concerned with their overall attitude towards fixing my car. They then text me after 3 days and said "the rust on your car has been fix, we have redetailed the car and you can come get the car". At this point I was beyond frustrated and contacted legal counsel, as they were now ignoring that someone at their dealership had damaged my car. My lawyer contacted Dave and he had a very careless attitude about the whole situation, and even went on to tell my lawyer " the damages were on the car when she bought it and we aren't fixing them". This statement was far from the truth as I had pictures of the car the day I purchased it which show that these damages were not there. When told we had pictures of the car previously without the damages Dave stated "that they had asked to see the pictures and I refused" which was never the case, as up until that point they had no idea I even had pictures of the car predamages, and were stating I had bought it in that condition. Dave did a lot of back peddling, and gave my lawyer the run around by avoiding phone calls, and emails, and then had Luke texting me stating I needed to return the rental car as they had people interested in purchasing it. All the while still refusing to address what was going to be done to fix my car!

Finally after my lawyer sent them the pictures Dave said "their manager had given them permission to fix the damages" and they fixed the damages to the car. I purchased my car on November 22nd, and finally after fighting with the Barrie Subaru dealership for weeks had the car in my possession on December 16th.

This is related primarily to Whitby Subaru however...

This is related primarily to Whitby Subaru however I can tell you Subaru Canada was just as bad - numerous calls to customer service with follow up letters to the president of Subaru Canada - little to now consolation on their vehicle that had less than 100k km and still under their major component warranty. The car was completely disabled and they couldn't figure out how to tow it without causing major body damage. Yes there is a lot more to this story but I can tell you that I will never buy another Subaru! Little to no communication while they had my vehicle for 20+ days. Between the dealership and @subarucanada the technicians worked to troubleshoot my car and re-assured me that the parts and some labour would be covered under warranty. At the end they handed me a bill for $2k+ no warranty support and 11 hours worth ( they supposedly reduced this ) of labour while the car was under 100K and less than 4 years old. The service manager was disrespectful and I had to constantly call into the technical advisor with no return phone calls or emails. My car also came back with 2 dented fenders and a missing dashcam - of course they took no responsibility and blamed the towing company ( and so the finger pointing began ). The car was later returned for follow up for a automatic headlight issue which they later determined was unrelated. Well all I can say is you should have caught this when I agreed to pay for a 100k service. Shame on me for giving you the benefit of this additional business on the assumption you would warranty most of the service fees. This type of service is why customers do not return to dealerships for support and feeds into the dealership stereotype - thanks for absolutely nothing! I will never buy a Subaru again and highly do not recommend this dealership.

I arranged last week to bring my 2009 Forester in ...

I arranged last week to bring my 2009 Forester in for service at Mississauga Suburu. The power steering system stopped working. At 2 pm on the day of the appointment I called to see if my vehicle went in,
they said no but was going in soon. At 2:15 pm they called and claimed the service tech looked at the system and determined I needed over $3,000 worth of parts and labour. By magic thru his super powers the technician determined that the pump, rack and pinion was all gummed up without even opening it just by looking in the reservoir. Mississauga's Suburu service department team at the time determined that the pump fluid did not need to be changed yet my vehicle being serviced by their dealership for the past 480,000 km never once had the transmission fluid or power steering fluid changed. Yet Suburu claims at 48,000 km to change all fluids. Not once did the service department offer to change these fluids or even recommend it. Hopefully the dealership's staff is not on commission basis like other major firms. Well Suburu Canada I solved my own power steering issues for $12.95 from Canadian Tire buying Ristone Power Steering Treatment.

At the time I asked their tech sales if we could simply flush out the system "they claimed no and they never ever did it", this is total bunk. This is the second time their staff told me that my vehicle was essentially finished and that was 14,000 km ago. Previously their technician who really needs retraining gave me the line that radiator water was entering through the head gaskets into the cylinder head. Well if this was the case surely the radiator fluid levels would drop but they have not lost even one once in past 14,000 km. Oh by the way I solved this power loss problem for another $13.50 using Ristone Engine Treatment, shows you how good the Suburu Forester was built in Japan but how really poor Mississauga Suburu service level has dropped over the years with growth.

I have been a customer at Mississauga Suburu for over 12 years and have driven over 1.15 million km on two Foresters. But lately their service department has been going downhill. I drove unnecessarily for three weeks physically turning the steering when $ 12.95 eliminated this issue ( they could have made $150.00 for the same service and done the flush themselves, but perhaps their dealership only wanted the big money.) I strongly urge that all Suburu dealers add to at least the 48,000 or 72,000 km service to replace the power steering fluids or do a flush of the power steering system.

A power steering failure if a person is not strong enough to turn the vehicle could result in a major crash, flip the vehicle or result in bodily injury or death if the pump fails or power steering fails. At minimum I suggest that every technician in every dealership in Canada go through Suburu retraining once a year on this system the technicians shall be taught more thoroughly since it seems to be poorly known at least at this dealer how to treat power steering issues.

Had I listened to their service department techs I would have gotten rid of a vehicle which can still do another 50,000 to 100,000 km for very little service work. Great on Suburu. Yes I would buy another Forester but not from Mississauga Suburu.

The make a great car, however don't trust that they will honor the roadside service that comes with it. Subaru roadside refused to help me while stranded on the side of the highway. They said did not have the service. After checking with my dealer, I do indeed have the service. After speaking with Subaru Canada they admit fault but will not reimburse any of the $500 dollar towing bill inquired because of there refusal of service. This is my 4th Subaru and will be my last. Stay far far away if you expect them to stand behind there product.

I love my Subaru Crosstrek. After enjoying my Impreza for 6 years, I appreciate the extra ground clearance, roomy interior and quiet, smooth drive. It is still fun to drive with a 6 speed manual transmission. The extra cladding will be great in the winter but needs to be added to the back bumper in future models. The bolstered seats are too narrow and not as comfortable or supportive as the wider captain's seats in my Impreza. I hope that future touring models will have wider, flatter seats, more lumbar support and flatter backrests for longer drives. The current Crosstrek seat and headrest place the back in a curved position that places a strain on the neck and lower back. The storage areas in the car are nice but could be bigger in future models. The Crosstrek uses more gas than the Impreza, with an average of 8.8 L/100 km, compared to 7.2 in the Impreza. The exhaust pipe needs to be changed in future models; the exhaust comes into the car when idling or backing up in the winter because of poor positioning of the pipe. Many new cars have a dual exhaust pipe that exits from the back of the rear bumper - not this car. I enjoyed driving in snow this winter with the Crosstrek. With all-wheel drive and 4 snow tires, it was a pleasure to drive!

The motor blew in our Outback. 100K and only 6 years old stranding us on a highway in winter. Cost us 8 grand to fix. It was meticulously maintained but because of our complete dissatisfaction with the dealership we were taking it elsewhere for service after the warranty expired. Neither Subaru Canada nor the dealership gave us the time of day.

I am so fed up with all the back in fourth with Subaru of Canada and Subaru of Maple due to issues with my car that shouldn't be happening on a brand new car. Once I get my car back I will probably sell it/trade it. Subaru makes it look like they have great customer service, and reliable vehicles. When in reality they never address your concerns, and just try to screw you out of your money. I will NEVER buy a Subaru again, and I will advocate to anyone I speak with to never trust this brand as they have just been wasting my time.

Our 2017 Forester's AC stopped working after driving it for only 20000km, and we came to the one in Mississauga to get it looked at. Our warranty still last for a while at this point in time but when we got it looked at, they said that a part is damaged due to an external objecting hitting it from under the car. The part will need $800 to replace and taking a look at the car itself took $200. This is crazy, what is the warranty even for then?

I have had several Subarus and recently purchased my 5th. I was disappointed and upset with the fact that my 2015 Legacy and 2017 Legacy were very different in a subtle way that was not stated anywhere on their site. Subaru removed the basic feature of 'call waiting' from their stereo. This was never stated anywhere in their documentation. Using this car as a daily driver and being on the road lots means the basic feature is necessity. In calling Subaru I am either to purchase a car at $10,000 higher or an aftermarket stereo. I got this car because I wanted ALL ORIGINAL FACTORY EQUIPMENT. Subaru has failed me. I am saddened by this move and their position. In 2017 how can yo sell a car without "call waiting?" Worse you offer no solutions to resolve the issue unless I lose thousands on my car and purchase a higher trim level.

This issue may seem small or insignificant but when you require your car for a daily driving and calls and all call waiting calls are rejected it means you are losing out on time, money and putting oneself at risk to switch in between calls.

Poor on you Subaru!!

After much consideration, we chose to purchase a 2017 Subaru Outback with a 6 speed manual transmission. The first time we drove into Toronto and were stuck in stop and go traffic, the clutch began emitting a horrible burning smell and was slpping. We mentioned it to Gemini Motors, our local dealer, who drove the car and told us all was fine. This was at the 20k service. Now, with less than 44000 kms on the car, the clutch is gone. Subaru refuses to cover this under warranty, claiming that this is the result of "ware and tare" (their spelling errors). We have driven over 1.5 million miles on cars with manual transmissions and have never had to replace a clutch. Our 2011 VW Golf had 170000 kms and the original clutch was perfect. Subaru has lost our business forever.

This review is both for Centaur Subaru and Subaru ...

This review is both for Centaur Subaru and Subaru of Canada as neither seem to be willing to do the right thing.

Let me start off by saying that the sales and finance staff were quite good. Dan was my sales guy and was quite knowledgeable and quick to answer questions and assist with the buying process. That's where the good news stops. Roughly two months after I purchased my 15' WRX the "Check Engine Oil" light came on. Thinking this was strange I brought it in for service and was told to monitor the oil level which is fine. After this the car seemed to run a little rough. Drove to Edmonton and the "Check Engine" light was flashing and the power seemed to be lacking. Brought it in once again and was told that there was an issue with a by-pass valve, or something along those lines, which caused my turbo to shatter in to a thousand pieces, The last part is verbatim from the tech. They replaced the turbo and assured me that would be the last of it. A couple days later I noticed a bolt on my garage floor which was kind of worrying. Upset I called in and said the car was running rough and they had also not properly tightened a bolt. Brought it in for service again and was informed that there was indeed a major issue and Subaru would be replacing the entire short block as the one I had was toast. The tech also admitted that he didn't think replacing the turbo had actually solving the true issue. Again, quite frustrating. Makes you wonder why they wouldn't try to actually fix the problem. New engine went in, ran fine for the first 5K KMs then it seemed to run a little rough here and there. When it was warm it would run rough after driving for 10-15 minutes. Not wanting to waste my time and get the run around again I figured I'd wait until something major happened so they wouldn't say everything was fine or to just monitor it. Took it in for an oil change yesterday and also asked them to see if it ran rough and also to do a recall that Subaru of Canada had sent me. Was left a rather condescending voicemail saying the oil change was done, the car ran perfectly, and my car doesn't have a sub so doesn't fall under the recall. As far as the sub goes I'm quite sure the picture from Subaru of Canada's website saying that's the sub, and the one from my car are the same so it seems a little odd that they told me I don't have a sub. TL:DR This dealership is either lazy or incompetent and between them and Subaru Canada this might be my last Subaru, which is unfortunate as my last Subaru was amazing.

We are so tired of dealing with their non sense and their lies. We are never buying another Subaru again because of Subaru of Canada that gave us a run around. This company has so many pending legal files due to complaints and they do not care about customers and run business un ethically. Stay away from this company and you will be happy.
We are happy now , we do not own a Subaru and will never own one and also make sure all our friends and family will never own one.

Well what can I say, Subaru Canada lied to me about when my warranty would expire. I was inquiring about a special coverage on the crank bearings for my STI. When I gave them my VIN number and mileage, they told me my warranty just expired by time 10 days ago as it passed the 8 year mark. She said it expired March 16, 2020. but the vehicle was built in November 2012. According to the manufacturer date on my door jam and the vehicle still has 8 months left until the vehicle was even built, not to mention the additional time for the (in service date of when the vehicle actually sold). VERY SHADY COMPANY WITH ABSOLUTELY NO MORALS OR REGARD FOR CUSTOMER SATISFACTION!!!! P.S. I am a Licensed Master Technician, as well as the Fixed Operations Manager for a very large Dealership, and I have been in the business since 1998. I can guarantee I will be escalating this to everyone I can!
