The most iconic part of New York. There has been some changes over the years. You can't go on the grass next to the statue. Fences have been placed which makes the pictures less nice. They did make a nice improvement with the museum on the island. Food court could have some more indoor seating.
Beautiful and a must-see when visiting New York!!! The security process is pretty extensive, much like airport style, so definitely get there 30-60 min early before your fairy time .
Have to go if visiting New York, plan ahead and get the pedestal or crown tickets it really adds to the visit. If they are sold out sometimes if the check the night or two before they will release extra tickets even if you have to pay admission twice it is worth it. Taking the climb and looking into the interior of the statue. Easy subway ride to Battery Park and a well orchestrated operation. Probably the best value tourist attraction in New York
freedom is not free. it's $18.5 to take the cruise from Manhattan. but seriously, get here and take the time thanking to people who had bled to achieve the free world that we are enjoying to live in and walk around slowly listening to Akon's freedom. it's truly amazing.
With the Citypass we made sure to check out the Statue or Liberty. I had never been before and it was amazing how large the statue was when you got close to it. I think it s a must if your heading to New York to be a tourist, especially with the meaning and background of the monument. They also recently opened up the new museum on the grounds as well which has so much really cool history inside and is a very interactive museum. Go and check it out!
I am pleased that I`ve come to the most recognizable place in the New-York, but I have some problems with planning so I didn`t have so much time to have a good view out of there. :(
Reservation is possible from half a year ago. The information from the guide was very easy to understand and I was able to study history. It may be nice to think about America in this place.
I m sure everyone has the same thing to say about this place. A must see for anyone. We had to catch the ferry from New Jersey because the NY side was full but you can return to NY on the return. From New Jersey, we stopped at Ellis Island first, then caught the boat to The Statue. We got there and it was a nearly all blue sky day so it was even more stunning. Went to the new museum which was beautiful. Do the picture wall. You take a pic then it shows up on a wall minutes later and the hundreds of pics taken forms into the Statue of Liberty. Very cool.
The Statue of Liberty is a national icon, and a must-visit on any trip to New York City. But, honestly? I was a little underwhelmed. The statue herself is quite small compared to many other things in the city, and you have to book several weeks in advance to visit the crown. There is little shade around the island itself, so on a hot day, you tend to find yourself rushing parts of the tour to avoid heatstroke. I'm so glad we visited such an iconic landmark, and I will always treasure the experience, but I wouldn't rush back if I were to visit the city again. Ellis Island was the far more interesting part of the trip, and is definitely worth a visit, but if you're pressed for time, you can probably just post for a picture from the mainland and call it quits.
Fascinating to visit with a great museum inside the base, worth getting a crown ticket so you can make your way up the 300 odd steps to admire the view.
You have to see it in person. The monument is truly amazing. The history of how it came to be is also very intriguing. Free audio guides and cinematic presentations. We also enjoyed the Ellis Island afterwards.
Lady Liberty is pretty sweet. Did you know she's hollow? That "fact is on the free audio tour, Haha. Wow, I always wondered how people got up to the crown :)
Anyway, this is a crazy busy landmark. I went on a warm late April day and glad I reserved tickets online from "Statue Cruises". The company is the exclusive vendor to the Park Syatem. I tell you this, RESERVE YOUR TICKETS!
I reserved at 10AM and had no issue at all same day. I skipped a three hour long line (yes, I'm not joking... reserve first! Only caveat to online is you need a print out of your confirmation, or you have to get a printed ticket in a small but slightly confusing line, it was painless, however, and I literally saved 3-4 hours of time!
The while process through security was efficient but slow. People cut in line and can be arrogant, but whenever there is a crowd like this, it happens.
I did not order the "Crown" add on, and kicked myself for not spending a few extra bucks! I only got half way up on the "Pedestal". I took the stairs, it was fun.
TL-DR Tips: Reservations are AWESOME, DO IT and skip a huge line.
Get Crown tickets if possible. Pedestal is kinda meh.
Lots of security, don't be an idiot.
You can plug headphones into the audio tour. You have wired headphones still, don't you?
Locker for backpacks is 25 cents. I got my quarter back!
Go to Ellis Island if you have time, it's included with your ticket.
Obviously a must see. Tickets to go to the crown go fast, so get there early if you want to go up. However, you can usually get tickets to the pedestal and it lets you look up inside to see the structure. Very interesting.
Definitely get your tickets early 6 months or more ahead of time and go all the way to the CROWN! It's an experience of a lifetime! It is a tight squeeze and there are restrictions on what you can take but we'll worth it! You can skip the radio or walkie tour, you can't hear what they are saying over the crowds and it's hard to pay attention and really take in the views and moment! Also be prepared for lines and security EVERYWHERE!!!!
Well preserved historical monument. Great views of New your city from its shores. Parking in Jersey and taking fair to the tour then going into Manhattan is super easy and convenient, and way cheaper than driving into the city. So its definitely a win win. Water taxi will bring you back to Jersey pretty late for cheap.
Highly recommended! Definitely get the pedestal level access if you can. The museum is interesting and worth the time. Many beautiful views. There is some construction taking place but it did not impact our visit.
Took a boat tour to see the Statue of Liberty! Amazing way to see it, as you need to book weeks in advance to go to the island and to visit the pedestal and the crown. Great views of the city and the statue. Looked so small compared to the skyscrapers! Definitely a must see!
Bring headphones that you can plug into the audio device. That way you dont have to keep the audio device to your ears the entire time. Makes it Much easier to listen to the audio tour (included with your trip and Really good)!
One of the most iconic structures that define the United States. Imagine how it must have felt to all the immigrants who came from across the world in the early 1800s and 1900s on those ships having to wait days in the sea only to see this magnificent structure looming in the distance. Portraying America as the land of freedom, opportunities and growth. This is one of the most scared places in America and to be treated with that respect always. I highly recommend visiting here as its truly as magnificent as they say it is in tales.
The food was so so, the museum was small but nicely done, the statue is stunning. The outdoor eating areas was placed under trees so of course covered with bird poop. As usual, the retail areas are were most of the focus is.
Plan ahead and reserve tickets. The wait is always long here! The island has construction going on and you are no longer allowed to stand on the wall to take photos. I would suggest packing a lunch and water. If you have small kids plan ahead as you will be standing around for a while...and kids have small bladders.
As long as you go in knowing their will be lines... The whole experience was fantastic. The views from the boat were a great start. The food on the island was good and there were plenty of places to relax and enjoy the statue, the history, and the day. I recommend this stop for anyone visiting the area.
I didn't actually go across to it (because I didn't feel the need), but it was very nice to look at from across the water. The idea that this was the first thing that many immigrants saw when they came across the water makes it very cool! <3
Loved the statue of liberty beautiful place what can I say would recommend to go there it's beautiful stayed New York for 7 days went there everyday from both sides New York and New Jersey incredible!
Great place to visit while being in NY. Not that bigger as I expected but it's amazing to be here. Exceptional security of airline level. Advance tickets should be booked to have great visit from it's crown. Lady liberty is symbol of freedom for all. Highly recommended.
A dream come true, and another check off my bucket list to finally see "Lady Liberty" in person! Thrilling to imagine how it must have been for ancestors arriving in America to get their first glimpse of her!
Both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are must see places. If they are not on your bucket list, they need to be. Either buy your $18.50 tickets well in advance, or buy from an online site at the last minute as we did for $50. Each. But, buying like we did from a tour company does get you a shorter line to get on the first boat and a short walking tour of lower Broadway.
Did you know that the Statue of Liberty's skin is only two pennies thick! That is incredible and that also to automobiles could on the size of her tablet that she holds. I highly recommend picking up the audio guide to her that is including the price of your ticket when you walk around the statue. I only purchased the in ground tickets so I was unable to access the pedestal and Crown and I still had a great time and great views of her. Next trip or in several years from now I will try to get the ticket for the crown but it does not make a break your time seeing Statue of Liberty only be on the ground I had a fantastic time and learn lots of stuff regarding the Statue of Liberty. There is a bathroom and food court on the island. The museum that contain the original torch was not completed at the time of her visit so I was slightly disappointed that I could not see the torch, the original torch in person/ up close.
Great place to take the family, very educational, and exciting to see the historic monument. Kids enjoyed it very much. The ferry ride over to lady liberty was amazing.
I love it. It's always crowded and tickets to the crown are usually sold out in the morning, if you order online it might be sold out even 2 weeks before you go. You may find the gift shop with a big selection of goods with the Stature of Liberty. I recommend to try lemonade outside. It's very refreshing. Ice Cream was also good. There are a few restaurants outside and street food.
Its a must must must go place if you ever visit the New York city.
Just take ferry from Battery park and dont forget to book your tickets well in advance if you are planing to climb up the stairs to the top or even the base of statue as it is all booked months in advance.
Entry to park however does not need advance booking in general and you can buy tickets the same day but on busy days there are long queue for ferry tickets as well.
I really enjoyed the guided tour that came with the ticket, and even though I stayed off the statue or its base, I learned a lot and enjoyed my time there. It is definitely worth the lines. I would save at least half the day for Liberty Island and Ellis Island.
Awesome place to see NYC. Can't see the Statue of Liberty from here at all, even though it's right there. Nice 9-11 memorial & the new World trade center is just across the river. Not much to do other than look at city, or take the ferry to Ellis island, which is what the park is meant for. I bet on a nice warm night this place would be amazing. I went on a freezing cold day & very happy I did.
A CANNOT-MISS for everyone when you visit New York I must say. I d recommend to take a cruise tour. You will get infos of other islands and the nice view as well. I mean it is a good way to see the whole statue and the island. But go on the island if you have more time and do not forget to book the ticket in advance.
Great to visit such a historic and important place. Security was tight but everyone was very nice. You need separate tickets if you want to go inside the Statue of Liberty and those tickets are not available there. You need to purchase them ahead of time. Otherwise, you can only walk around the outside.
Very inspiring to glide past a statue that has been an inspiration to many. It's very humbling and awe inspiring. Every person. On the boat stood up for her as we passed. It was amazing.
The Statue of Liberty is an American icon. A visitor to NYC has to visit the Statue of Liberty. Getting there is easy, you can purchase a ticket for a ferry to the Island. Once on the island you can walk around the statue. We did not go into the pedestal or the statue itself.
While the park entry is free, to get to the island you have to take the ferry out of Battery Park in Manhattan. The ferry runs about every 20 minutes from Battery Park to Liberty Island to Ellis Island and then back to Battery Park.
You simply must buy tickets to climb into the crown. It was really cool to see the inside of the statue and the views out of the top were awesome. Bucket list activity for sure.
It's a beautiful place. The grand liberty statue is beautiful and it is a must visit.. The audio tours explained quite a lot about the history and how it came to be in existence..
Icon of America is a must see. Nothing like seeing Lady Liberty up close and personal. Must take a ferry from Battery Park. Arrive prior to your ferry ticket time as you will have to go through security (airport style). Boats are wheelchair accessible but must purchase a special ticket. Wheelchairs are not provided at battery park. The boat ride is quick to Liberty island where you can spend as much time as you want. Then the boat will take you to Ellis Island. Finally the boat returns to NYC. Wonderful experience.
Seeing Lady Liberty was one of the best parts of visiting NYC for the first time! The new museum is lovely and I enjoyed the interactive art exhibit. Don t fall for the schemes of the ticket sellers in Battery Park- they will lie! Go straight to the castle to purchase tickets and get in line if you want to go to Liberty Island and Ellis island. Beautiful ferry ride views to both islands and we did a self guided tour.
We should respect History if it's good and forget it otf it's bad. This monument is a tribute to freedom , there will be many cheaters outside saying they will get tickets for cheaper price and lot more story tellers . Buy your tickets from the Government assigned centers only , it will cost you 18.5 dollar per person including the to and fro ferry charges. Your trip to New York will be incomplete if you dont visit the Beautiful Lady .
We walked the 195 steps to the pedestal, which was nice. It was raining so we were unable to take full advantage being on the pedestal. You have to book a ticket six months in advance to go up to the crown. I found that out a few weeks before our trip. Besides that it was great.
On of the Worlds symbols of Liberty. Still seems good, no pandemic can touch it, huh. The quarantine divided some of us but the liberty torch is still burning.
Amazing!!! We were there for a quick trip and made a last min plan to see the statue and Ellis island. It was amazing and well worth it!! I would suggest planning ahead of time and plan on most the day. The ferry ran every 15 min but it takes a while to get on due to crowds. There's not much options for food and drinks and definitely take some with you.
Amazing guide inside the statue. Learn more about Lady Liberty and her history in the inside museum! Stunning views over the skyline of NYC. Recommend!
Wow. Put off going for years (queues, crowds) but finally booked the Crown tickets in advance and headed over. Going in January keeps the crowds low. The process was smooth - collect tickets, security, ferry, more security, start climbing! The outside is beyond iconic. The inside however is a work of construction/sculptural art. The climb to the pedestal is a grind but worth it. The further climb to the crown is tiring and really claustrophobic but the view is great. Seeing the (tiny) inside is like bing in a Jules Verne submarine! A cross between Victorian engineering, Art Deco sensibilities and 1950s updates. A real experience. Highly recommended. If going in the heat/humidity take the climb slowly.
You get the ferry experience. Quick stop by Ellis island. Going in the statue is pretty cool, plus they have a museum there to. Definite must for tourists.
