I m sure everyone has the same thing to say about this place. A must see for anyone. We had to catch the ferry from New Jersey because the NY side was full but you can return to NY on the return. From New Jersey, we stopped at Ellis Island first, then caught the boat to The Statue. We got there and it was a nearly all blue sky day so it was even more stunning. Went to the new museum which was beautiful. Do the picture wall. You take a pic then it shows up on a wall minutes later and the hundreds of pics taken forms into the Statue of Liberty. Very cool.

The Statue of Liberty is a national icon, and a must-visit on any trip to New York City. But, honestly? I was a little underwhelmed. The statue herself is quite small compared to many other things in the city, and you have to book several weeks in advance to visit the crown. There is little shade around the island itself, so on a hot day, you tend to find yourself rushing parts of the tour to avoid heatstroke.
I'm so glad we visited such an iconic landmark, and I will always treasure the experience, but I wouldn't rush back if I were to visit the city again.
Ellis Island was the far more interesting part of the trip, and is definitely worth a visit, but if you're pressed for time, you can probably just post for a picture from the mainland and call it quits.
