They're Coming to America... TODAY!
I just HAD to...
Lady Liberty is pretty sweet. Did you know she's hollow? That "fact is on the free audio tour, Haha. Wow, I always wondered how people got up to the crown :)
Anyway, this is a crazy busy landmark. I went on a warm late April day and glad I reserved tickets online from "Statue Cruises". The company is the exclusive vendor to the Park Syatem. I tell you this, RESERVE YOUR TICKETS!
I reserved at 10AM and had no issue at all same day. I skipped a three hour long line (yes, I'm not joking... reserve first! Only caveat to online is you need a print out of your confirmation, or you have to get a printed ticket in a small but slightly confusing line, it was painless, however, and I literally saved 3-4 hours of time!
The while process through security was efficient but slow. People cut in line and can be arrogant, but whenever there is a crowd like this, it happens.
I did not order the "Crown" add on, and kicked myself for not spending a few extra bucks! I only got half way up on the "Pedestal". I took the stairs, it was fun.
TL-DR Tips:
Reservations are AWESOME, DO IT and skip a huge line.
Get Crown tickets if possible. Pedestal is kinda meh.
Lots of security, don't be an idiot.
You can plug headphones into the audio tour. You have wired headphones still, don't you?
Locker for backpacks is 25 cents. I got my quarter back!
Go to Ellis Island if you have time, it's included with your ticket.
