The Statue of Liberty is an American icon. A visitor to NYC has to visit the Statue of Liberty. Getting there is easy, you can purchase a ticket for a ferry to the Island. Once on the island you can walk around the statue. We did not go into the pedestal or the statue itself.

While the park entry is free, to get to the island you have to take the ferry out of Battery Park in Manhattan. The ferry runs about every 20 minutes from Battery Park to Liberty Island to Ellis Island and then back to Battery Park.
