I always bring my tourist friends to see this place whenever they visit me. It is such a refreshing site to see the symbol of freedom and democracy still standing strong throughout the years. Hope that we will maintain the beauty and the purpose of the most recognized landmark in the whole world

Everyone needs to go at least once. The new museum is included with the ferry fee. My teens loved it. There was enough to be entertaining and they enjoyed the interactive displays. Lady Liberty stands tall and dignified, which is breathtaking from any angle. What a beautiful beacon of hope!

It's a obviously must visit in New York. There are 2 gift shops right next to each other, and a place to eat. The cruise ride there is very nice and a great time for taking pictures of the skyline of the city! Happy to make my dream into reality.

May be they want to consider to repaint and do rework for the statue to maintain well.

Took the ferry to the islands and absolutely loved it. Saturday afternoons are busy, could take 30 to 45 minutes to board the ferry because of security checks. Security is strict, they don't even allow small fruit knives.

Get ready to walk up alot of steps, but all was worth it. This is a definitely must visit for the young, old and new to this country. It's an amazing spectacle. The immigration museum was fantastic. Will recommend this place to all my friends and family. Make it your business to come see it

The statue of liberty is still a wonder to see. The ferry I took was ok, though it should've had an open top deck. You could barely take pictures because of the over hang outside. Other than that, the statue was great to see. Thank you France.

Iconic monument to visit along with Ellis Island. I think the views you get from the island of the surrounding areas are as good as the experience. I am not sure if it is worth it to purchase a ticket to get inside, but it is up to you. The place has a restaurant and giftshop.

Worth it!

Worth it!
Seeing her for the first time, was spine chilling. My friend and I went inspite of her not being open at the crown. It was well worth it. As citizens who had family come from Europe, it was like walking in their footsteps. Ellis Island documentation was very interesting. No history books told the story like they did. We wish the government and media and New Yorkers would get on the same page and know where the pedastal is open or not. As of June 22, it is not. But worth the trip!!

Lovely experience, it was such a fun day. The only thing I didnt like was the que for the ferry there was absolutely no settings in place for the tourist from employees. It was everyone pushing each other to get through. Man vs Man!

Be prepared for some standing around and queuing. Although it seemed to pass by quick enough. It's well worth it as soon as you get into that boat to go out to see the statue though. Amazing day out in our Holiday.

I never get tired of seeing our lovely Lady Liberty on my visits to New York. But a bit of advice....planning is the key when you book your tour. If you want to go to highest allowable access point otherwise known as the crown you will need to book those tickets in advance. They only allow 400 visitors a day to access the crown so advanced booking is a must. When we did this tour in May, people were being told crown tickets were not available again till September. Another tidbit go early to avoid the crowd, and oh my there will be crowds. One thing you may not know is the time they give you for your tour, really guarantees you nothing. It is is only a time for ticket pick-up, everything else is based on 1st come 1st served. So we booked our pick-up time for the 1st available, 8am. We arrived at Battery Park early so a very nice way to see the park without the crowds. We got our tickets and waited in line for the ferry to take us Liberty Island which is where The Statue of Liberty is located. You will have to go through 2 airport style security checks when going up to the pedestal or the crown. you will have to check your bag or purse so you will need to have cash for a locker rental fee. There are Park rangers at all access points who are very friendly and have a wealth of knowledge about the history of the island and statue. Don t be afraid to have a conversation with them. There aren t elevators per se and it is a lot of narrow stairs so be prepared, good walking shoes are a must. Again for us going early was the key. We didn t have people pushing us forcing us to go so we could take our time and huff and puff our way to the top of the crown. 1st stop before entering the climb to the pedestal is the Statue of Liberty museum. it has a lot of the history, memorabilia and eduction of the building process and the people involved in the making and planning of this monument. After that is a climb to the pedestal and it has a place to go outside and look around on and take pictures. Then on to the crown and again more narrow stairs. at the top it is a very crowded, cramped space and you can feel it sway from the wind but the Park Rangers very helpful and informative. And again if you go early you get to stay a little longer and really take a good look at the inside of The Statue of Liberty. Then the climb back done. We had lunch while in the island and then were able to catch the ferry that then stops at Ellis Island Ellis Island is actually where all the immigrants were took and Inspected before allowing to enter to the United States. This place is also a wealth of history and ancestral heritage. Once you have explored Ellis Island you can ferry back to Battery Park. It is a FULL day of adventure but if you plan early one that will be very memorable for your entire party.

The trip is really short in boat, there's a lovely view from the boat itself, it's definitely a must. The ticket will allow you to visit the island but you will need another ticket to go on the base of the statue and another to the hand of the statue. Awesome experience, very recommended.

What a beautiful piece of architecture gifted by France to the USA. Majestic looking statue of liberty situated on the island mid of New York and New Jersey waterfront and accessible from both ends through ferry. We have to plan well in advance if you in intend to visit the crown for a beautiful view of the Skyline. Food available for purchase on the island. The ferry tickets also include trip to the immigration museum if you are interested in history. We could spend 4 hours on an average for a round trip if the tickets were prebooked. Purchase of tickete on location on the battery park might be little busy on crowded days. So I would recommend advance booking. A must visit place for tourists visiting USA !

A must see but try and go early. The queues for getting on and off the boat over to the monument are tedious and being herded isn't the most enjoyable experience. At peak time in August it took 10 minutes plus to disembark, being jostled and pushed. The queues to get a ticket at 11 a.m the day before we eventually got across were comfortably 90 minutes worth and in the baking heat, we gave up! All that said, you can't not go! Just pick your time.

Iconic statue of Liberty. Went up to the pedestal area and caught a great view of Manhattan. There's a new museum constructed in 2019 where they keep the original torch. If only they have night tours, it should be interesting to see the night view of Manhattan from here

This was definitely a bucket list item for me and my visit did not disappoint! We were met, promptly at Battery Park, by our diminutive tour guide, Sheree, who sported a bright pink ball cap, which came in very handy to spot her as she guided us through the crowds. One of the crew members told me that the boat has a capacity to carry 800 passengers which was mind blowing to me. As we approached Liberty island and got closer to the statue the atmosphere became hushed as we collectively embraced her aura. The process of getting us on and off the boat was surprisingly orderly considering the number of people. Our guide took us through the process and was extremely informative. I was very impressed with her wealth of knowledge. I asked and she said she had been doing this for many years. She is SKILLED! She got on the ground to take pictures for us so that we could have the Statue in the background! Now that is great customer service! Thank you, Sheree! I highly recommend this tour and encourage you to go on to Ellis Island also.

It only costs $19 (total] to take the boat to both the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, so I think it is very worth. While on the boat, you are able to get very nice views of NYC, too.

When you arrive on the island, there is a visitor center and a cafeteria. This surprised me, because the cost of food was actually reasonable for being a tourist attraction.

Would definitely recommend this for anyone hoping around NYC for sightseeing.

Purchase your ferry tickets in advance, and if possible, get tickets with pedestal access. The high point of the pedestal gives you great views of the skyline. The lower level gives you a great vantage for pictures. This access also allows you to see the museum. TIP: If you have a backpack, bring $2 cash for the locker. Backpacks can t go up with you, and lockers are cash only.

Wonderful Experience with family while you are in UK. It was amazing. Very well put together. The only thing is that I don t suggest you walk the stairs it takes a long time This is a good relaxing way to spend the afternoon.
Cheers!

Perhaps the highlight of any first visit to NYC. A trip that everyone should make. You won't be disappointed. It's not an expensive trip but do book as early as you can as you might be able to gain access to the pedestal, or even the crown if you wanted to. I was not able to get into the crown as the tickets are very limited. I think its not a huge space hence the low numbers.

Liberty Island is a lovely setting. The boat trip is around 15 mins and the statue looms up as you approach. Make sure you take the right hand side if the boat for the best view but you can't miss her.

The exhibitions are very informative and you get a real feeling of affection that the Americans have towards this landmark. It's a real beacon of hope and freedom.

Allow at least 2 hours to see everything, and take a picnic. You could spend the whole day there just taking in the monument and the view back over to Manhattan. Worth every cent.

Great place but if you get there late, like 3:30 you loose the boat and there is no more boats to see the statue! You can get a ferry to go further than this government boats and those (that goes further) are free.
Good to see this statue but I think that is a lot of better places to go in NY!

Good!

Good!
You can take a free boat on the Whitehall terminal to see it.

Commencing in 1875, the 93 metre statue was built in Paris and then shipped over to the U.S. in 1885 to be reassembled. The Statue of Liberty National Monument was officially dedicated and unveiled on 28-Oct-1886.

We were in the USA for the FIFA World Cup94 and had flown into New York's JFK as a jumping-off point for our trip. Couldn't resist the opportunity to make the Statue of Liberty ferry-trip and really enjoyed it all. On the day we were there, the option to climb up the 354 steps to Liberty's crown was happily not available.

Iconic, must see in the city. Well worth a visit for the iconic views of the statue itself and then back across the water to the New York skyline.

Fun Facts
@1. The seven spikes on the Statue of Liberty's crown represent either the seven oceans or the seven continents.

@2. The statue is made of copper and is now green in color because of oxidation (a chemical reaction between metal and water) from evaporation of the seawater surrounding it.

Highly recommend purchasing tickets for the crown. Tickets were extremely reasonably priced and a great value. Tickets include the ferry round trip, museum, crown access, and Ellis island museum. I spent almost an entire day exploring everything the tickets included.
All staff were super helpful and knowledgeable. Cannot recommend this enough!

Of course, every visitor to NYC must come and look at this iconic structure. We were lucky enough to see it on a beautiful clear day in May. Very well organised trip up to the plinth. A little crowded up there but you can stay as long as you like for some great photo opportunities of the city and Hudson. Very impressive and loved our time here.

We all may have seen Lady Liberty in pictures, but nothing comes closer to seeing her in person. The boat ride is worth the money in giving you some best shots of the monument and the NYC Skyline

Wish we got the ticket to crown. But still it was a great trip with lots of information about the statue, its significance and relation to immigration. It s a good place to spend sometime, enjoy the day and have family picnic.

Elise island was a fine side trip, if you have an hour its worth the time.

A must visit when in New York. We took the Statue Cruises which gets you right to the island. Excellent ferry! Very nice. Worth every penny. The statue is absolutely beautiful. If you do get pedestal tickets I advise to take the elevator. We took the stairs and we are in decent shape but it made us exhausted the rest of the day. The views from the pedestal are beautiful. Highly recommend! Also GO EARLY! It gets packed really fast. We took the first ferry.

Of course a must see when visiting NYC. But the fact, that you can only walk around if visiting spontaneously, makes it close to a waste of time. The size of the statue is not that big as expected. Sorry NYC, only three stars for that.

This place is a must visit when in US. We went up to the pedestal and tickets had to be booked online at least a month in advance if boarding the ferry at Battery park. There are ferry's departing from Liberty state park in NJ, I have been from both sides NY and NJ and I'll vouch that the crowd is much lesser from NJ side. Security takes lesser time. The Ellis Island museum is a good too.

A symbol of what makes this country such a Great place! Everyone should see it, everyone should remember it! Everyone was once welcome in this once great nation of ours. Even Trumps were welcome once. Now he wants to keep people out. What's up with that?

Must visit once.

Histroy at its best.
Amazing view of Manhattan New York and New Jersey skyline.

Liked the boat ride to the statue and the statue itself.. the audio guide provided good information on it's history.. the windy pedestal view was another plus.. only thing that put me off was that you need to book it weeks in advance if you want to go all the way to the crown..

You cannot understand the magnanimity of this historical landmark unless you experience her up close and personal. I was truly in awe as I stood at her base and reflected upon her significance in our broad diversity in this country

I was at this place for the first time and it was very exciting getting to the Statue in a ferry. It is a good place to look around and get a good view of New York City. Not a place where you would spend a lot of time though.

Took my mother to visit the Statue of Liberty as a birthday gift during the summer. Best time to visit is around August. One advice is to buy your tickets in advance, best online. This avoids the long lines to purchase one on the day of the visit. Employees are extremely diligent but a lot of people visit and it will take you hours to get to the booths. Then you have to go through clearance, same as the airport and the lines are again really long. But we had online tickets, took 10mins to the booth, 30 on the clearance lines and another 20 to get on the boat, 15 more to get from the boat to the stations and inside the monument. Went all the way to the crown about 290ish steps up. It was an amazing experience. Tiring but worth it. The tickets included access to the Museum and Ellis Island ( worth every second - every room visited). Full day of adventures. If you haven't visited yet, make plans for that. You will absolutely enjoy it.

Fantastic experience visiting one of our nation's most iconic places. The price to visit was quite good, just make sure to make a reservation directly with the park service. Apparently you can also visit a nearby hospital that was used when people from Ellis Island we're coming into the United States. This area it is a hard hat tour since much renovation is still needed, but it looks like a great opportunity if you get the chance. The boats were a bit crowded, make sure you use the bathrooms before you get on if possible. it looks like the best view is actually from the base of the statue of liberty, but if you can visit the pedestal or the crown, I'm sure you wouldn't regret the views.

I ve always wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty....

I ve always wanted to visit the Statue of Liberty. The history. The art. The architecture.

Departure was from Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Adults pay $18.50 while kids pay $9 to access Ellis Island, the monument grounds and the museum ONLY. Those who want a tour of the Pedestal (to see the statue itself) have to pre-book online and no less than two weeks to desired date of visit.

Transportation is by Statue Cruise ferries which are very safe and secure. There s even airport-style security check points before one embarks the ferries.

There are snacks and drinks available for purchase on board the ferries. Souvenirs are on sale too. It gets very windy on board and you really have to keep an eye on kids and minors.

The first stop is Ellis Island where you basically move around to take pictures as well as visit the museums. It s a beautiful place full of history.

The next stop is the Monument Grounds itself.
If you want to have real value for money, try going on a weekday. Weekends can get HECTIC!

The Museum is full of history, art, architecture and education. I don t really know how to describe the experience but it s a lot to take in. You get to know how the Statue of Liberty came about, how it was built, why it was built, her evolution through time, the works!

You get to take pictures that will be mailed to you as your souvenir from the National Monument. You have the option of printing your pictures out if you can stand the queues. Your pictures go up a big screen and with other pictures, float to the middle to form the Statue. How cool! #BecomingLiberty

There are also other areas where you get to see metal skeletons of notable historical figures and learn about their significance to America s story.

The souvenir shops sell all sorts of memorabilia. Mind your wallet or you ll be BROKE when you re done picking and paying for your things.

This is the one tour everyone visiting or living in the USA should go on. It s very educational and enlightening.

FUN FACT: Did you know that the Statue was France s gift to America? It was given in celebration of America s centennial after her independence.

So amazed with this iconic place, I climb to the top of the statue, right to the crown and I must say, it's tall and it tires people out, but it's worth it. It's also not very expensive, wicht I appreciate, since it's a very expensive city to go.

Great bit of American history. Not trip to the island is complete unless you have crown tickets (book well in advance, tickets sell out very quickly) the views are amazing from the crown. The park rangers are very friendly and helpful and answer any questions you have. The new museum on the island is now home to the original torch from the statue of liberty, a must visit and get up close to the original. Only one way to get here and that's by the only official boat that's allowed to dock on the island and that's statue cruises, can also book your crown tickets on their website too.

Only 54,000 other reviewers. Here's my opinion. From a New York City resident, don't hesitate to go.

A few words of advice and information.

You can schedule and prearrange tickets directly from the Statue of Liberty port. We were near Wall Street and simply walked to the ticket counter and told them we wanted to go ahead and schedule ticket purchases the next morning.

We got there about 15 minutes before the first boat left the pier. Even at that time, the line was about 10 minutes long. There is a rather formal security check. Travel light and don't bring a lot of electronics that might require additional screening.

After the check in the boat ride is rather simple. We went to the Statue of Liberty and were overwhelmed by how fascinating it was. Being on the first boat, there was almost no crush or line to see anything.

Ellis Island is fascinating. It actually takes less time than Statue of Liberty. So plan accordingly. If you want to do a search on their computer database that may take a little while. It can also be done online from the leisure of your own house.

After Ellis Island back to the city. At that time the lines were almost half a mile long.

So, book your tickets early, get there for the first boat. Enjoy the visit

Spent a wonderful time there. There was a long queue to get into the ferry but it was worth the wait. The ferry ride was amazing because of the cool wind and the view of the main land. The one World Trade center was looking great and majestic from the ferry. The statue was worth the visit. You get eatables there as you will get hungry spending hours Here. An overall beautiful experience.
