I stayed at Sheraton Suites Old Town Alexandria 3 weeks ago with my family for 7 days and was quite dissapointed with the customer service. The elevator went down on the 4th day of my stay and there was no sense of urgency to fix it...when I was leaving the elevator was still not fixed and there was no update on it being fixed. The pool was closed on the 5th day and nothing was posted letting the customer know. It was eventually told to to us that the pool was too cold but there was no timetable as to when it would be fixed...the pool is also only open from 4p to 10p (FYI they don't tell you that up front). The food had flies flying around it and when reported to the waitress, they didn't do anything to resolve the issue. Overall, not a pleasant experience and I would not recommend if you staying in the Alexandria area.

Sheraton Old Town
Great location in the heart of Old Alexandria. Friendly staff. Well kept public areas. Room was clean and very comfortable.
I stayed here this past summer and had an awful experience. There were ants, silverfish and BED BUGS in my room. I requested to speak to the general manager- he was never available. I emailed him and never received a response.
This was my go to hotel when i travel this way but prices went up now I go to the Ritz Carlton
The person working the front desk when we checked in was less than outstanding. She seemed perturbed that we had used mobile check in. We had to ask where the elevator was to get to our room. I couldn't tell you if they have a restaurant or if they serve breakfast. They charge $32.00 for overnight parking. That is more than I paid in downtown D.C. Being a member of Marriott Rewards is not a benefit at this location.
Nice property. Friendly staff and centrally located in old town. Reasonable price for a suite
Comfortable hotel close to good restaurants and interesting sights of old town
That room was comfortable, clean, and had everything I needed to enjoy my stay
Nice place and good price the suites are small - they are default sized rooms with a wall and door to separate the rooms. We found easy parking on the street and avoided the $26 a day parking fee.
The hotel had bedbugs. YES BEDBUGS! I actually caught one and took it to hotel management. The manager looked at it and said he did not know what kind of bug it was. He said they would have an exterminator come to fumigate the room we were in and move us to another room. I told him we did not want to move unless the exterminator inspected the room where we were moving to to ensure that it did not have bedbugs too. He said not because he would have to pay the exterminator to do that. He then said that he was perfectly capable of inspecting the room... mind you this is the person who said he could not identify the bedbug we brought him They refused to refund our room or cancel the second nights stay. We had to put everything that we brought into trash bags. It was humiliating. We had to throw out our suitcases and our purses. We never even got an apology. Today, August 3rd 2019, she decided to get a hotel room for me to stay overnight since I cannot stay at her house due to asthma. Within 10 minutes of making the reservation she realized that she had accidentally made it at this SAME hotel. She tried to cancel through Priceline and they said they could not do it that she had to contact the hotel directly. The front desk staff said they did not have the authority to cancel the reservation. When we asked to speak to a manager we were told there was not a single manager on duty and would not be until that afternoon. We asked them to have the manager call us, of course they did not. We called back and were told that the manager, Tanay, had them note on the reservation that is was not allowed to be cancelled. She did not have the courtesy to speak with us directly. I would stay away from this hotel and also beware of using Priceline because it limits your options in terms of cancelling or changing your reservations. A couple of notes this hotel used to be a Holiday Inn and they are apparently still using their pens as you may note in the picture. Also when we spoke to Priceline they said they would call the hotel and ask if they would allow us to cancel... they left us on hold for like 10 minutes and then came back and said sorry the hotel said no. When we spoke to the staff at the hotel they said Priceline had never called.
Good location and nice room but by AC unit stayed on full blast when on. Thermostat must have been broken.
Very nice hotel, everything was clean and in good order. Nice restaurant/ bar with very good omelets. Hotel is also seems like a good location with Harris Teeter snd restaurants nearby. I'd stay here again.
The hotel is lovely and clean. All rooms have refrigerator, microwave and bar sink. There is a sitting area a separate bedroom. Two TV'S and a comfortable bed. The hotel airport transportation leaves a bit to be desired. Front desk staff is friendly. There is a nice happy hour in the lobby bar.
AC didn't work properly and the buffet breakfast food was low quality.
Spacious rooms, best water pressure ever! Excellent location and very friendly staff!
Location is awesome right downtown, rooms are old but nice and bed was excellent. Bar was efficient and bar tender was excellent.
Rooms were spacious and clean. Location was nice being just a few blocks from King Street.
Nice hotel. Nice staff. No pool or amenities but convenient area.
Clean and comfortable stay. Close to downtown. Has an old town charm to it. Also super comfortable beds.
Shuttle bus to the airport room was clean with everything there TVs with a lot of channels people at desk very nice and accommodating
This place was awesome. Took my girlfriend to see DC for her birthday and stayed here last November. They treated us stellar and really made the trip even better! Little late to post, but my girlfriend was just thinking about it again and it reminded me to leave a good review!
Positive..Good location, Harris Teeter across the street. Negative..$30+ parking a night, mediocre customer service
A very nice hotel, but it's a bit of a walk to the metro and King Street. The rooms are a good size and the staff is very friendly.
Mostly a business and airport travelers inn. The bar only stays open until 11pm.
I was part of a group who stayed here for a reunion. Everything about my hotel stay was amazing! (I still believe the bed was trying to hold me hostage because it wouldn't let me leave ) My only negative comment lies with the food provided with our banquets. I paid $18 for a boxed lunch which was awful and the banquet dinners were terrible. Needless to say, the breakfast served by the hotel was delicious!
Great hotel. Clean. Stay here often. Could use a little refresh but that's not preventing me from staying there.
I stay at this place frequently. It is the hotel that my employer chooses for me. It is a nice location, they are nice rooms. However, my biggest beef about these rooms is that the glassware is never, ever clean. The maids simply wipe out the glasses with the same towels that they wipe down the counters with. If you ever see a maid cart, you will never see clean glassware on the maid cart. I ve taken this complaint to the general manager a couple of weeks ago and still nothing has changed.
Nice, clean, fairly spacious suite. Super comfortable bed. Quiet.
It was a very nice place for the price...it was close to the Casino and waterfront attractions. Very clean and quiet. I would visit again with no problem.
We stayed in an renovated room, but it wasn't bad. They do have pull out couches in every room (ours was old and hard) some were new and soft. T Double beds not queen beds in the double rooms.kind staff, but their financial hold policies are TERRIBLE. They hold the entire stay on your card, not one night bnb or $250. Who has $500 to spare while traveling in Trump's economy? Not even the hotel staff.
Beware: Skip this hotel! I can only assume that any positive review of this hotel is fake. I ve traveled and stayed in numerous hotels, but by far, this is the worst hotel in terms of quality and customer service. First, the rooms are outdated and dilapidated; plaster on walls that haven t been painted over, dusty curtains that made it hard to breath in the room, and a lingering odor that seemed to be trying to cover up a pet smell. They nickel and dime you with parking being almost $30.00 and breakfast $17.00. They also pulled a bait and switch by telling us when we booked that breakfast was included and we would have access to the club lounge, but mysteriously, at check-in, the notes disappeared. The manager, Victor, was rude and condescending and unwilling to help. The GM never called us back, so it s clear they don t care about a guests experience. I wish I could find a silver lining, but I m truly at a loss here. Horrible hotel and management.
Parked my car here for a 12 day trip and it cost 83$ and is an enclosed garage. Highly recommend
I've been here so often in the past year that it's almost like a 2nd home. Always excellent accommodations & service
Decent hotel. It was conveniently located near DCA with frequently running complimentary shuttles.
Beautiful rooms. In the heart of old Alexandra you see the history of the town. You are in walking distance of restaurants and bars. The hotel has underground parking with security. They have an onsite bar and restaurant. The staff is friendly and professional.
Attended conference, did not stay in hotel. Meeting rooms were nice, but not fabulous. Meals were good, again not fabulous. That could have been choice of meeting organizers.
Met a friend for breakfast. Never spoke to a hotel employee.
Very disappointed because my wife and I went to park our car here while we were heading to the airport. I made a parking reservation online. So we arrived and parked our car. We went to the elevator to go up to the lobby and catch our airport shuttle. The elevator wasn't working, and so we called the lobby and the man we talked to from the lobby said the lobby was closed and that the airport shuttle was not operating. So my wife and I had to order an Uber driver to take us to the airport. This is very disappointing because I made the reservation online to park here and nowhere did it say that the shuttle was not running. I am going to ask for a refund from this place. There was nowhere for us to enter the building of the hotel since the lobby was closed. The man on the phone from the lobby just said that we need to get a taxi or Uber. There was zero help.
Had no idea Washington DC had such a beautiful Harbor to offer with excellent food and fun shopping!
Enjoyed the area. The room was nice. Bed comfy. Great for families.
I attended a conference in this hotel where I found that the facilities were great. The hotel is near the supermarket and a very traditional restaurant. It is 15 minutes walk to the down town Alexandria where you can find what your heart desires.
Great location with friendly staff. The rooms were clean and well kept.
Pool not open for hours I needed. Club Room not open at all and not informed. No manager on duty. Would have stayed somewhere else if I had known as traveling with a young child
Great location. 8 min walk to Metro. Supermarket, gas station, Starbucks, diner and more all within a block or two. Ample parking (daily fee) with in and out privs. Clean and neat. Staff is friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again and recommend.
Nice staff. Rooms are adequate and clean. The bed could have been more comfortable for the price. And they didn't mention parking was $26 per day. I was a bit upset about that.
Hotel is clean and quiet and I loved the layout of the room. Sad I only got top stay one day. The room was a bit cold even though I turned off ac.
Currently staying at the hotel for three nights 5/18/17 The initial greeting and staff interaction was nice. The lack of a baggage cart to bring to the parking garage was a negative. I had to search for one and found one on the seventh floor. The other issues I have is that the air conditioner in my room (631) was not keeping up with the outside temps or sun on the windows. After twice complaining to the front desk it remained unable to noticeably cool the room to the degree expected in a higher priced name brand hotel. The second technician claimed that the setting if controlled by a central thermostat central and the suites are basically slaves to that no matter what in room controls are set to. He did return and replaced the filter. And that has slightly helped the problem but only to maintain 70-75 ish temps. For the price of the rooms I expect a basic three things. Clean, cool or hot, and up to date furnishings. Lastly, two more issues : the couch and chair in the suite are very basic and industrial not at all comfortable for prolonged lounging and the mini fridge barely could keep things cold. One positive was the shower head (speakman) was nice.
Good sized rooms for families with younger children. Nice pool, 3 ft deep all over, again good for younger children.
I have stayed here a few times now and the rooms are always well kept and clean. The layout of the rooms is great for multiple people sleeping in the room as there are doors between the couch area and the bedroom. The restaurant and bar is pretty good as well. The airport shuttle runs all day and has great times too. The green program they have is also very generous with the points/money you get back. The only downside is there are only 3 restaurants nearby so if you don't like the options you will have to travel a ways. I enjoy the restaurants nearby so I didn't take anything away, but some might.
We stayed in a beautiful suite. Two nice size tvs living room area and a closed off bedroom. And only 106 a night couldn't beat the price for the luxury we received
The room was very nice the pillows and mattress was like sleeping on a cloud and it was close to the water. The Sheraton was also pretty close to DC and right off the parkway.
Very friendly and accommodating staff. Pleasant rooms. Great location. The only ding is that they initially gave us the wrong room, which extended the check in process quite a bit, and they didn t pay attention to detail with special requests. But once that was cleared up they were very accommodating.
Room was nice. Staff was helpful. Will stay here again.
I park here for all my flights out of DCA, it is a huge savings over the airport lot. Shuttle is fast and easy
The service was awesome and the room was super clean
Good sized rooms with great amenities. Close to a lot of nice areas of Alexandria.
Beautiful as ever and pet friendly! Clean and lovely.
Went to rent a vehicle from their included enterprise kiosk. The gentlemen were courteous, quick, and a delight to work with.
A work conference right on the heels of a family vacation to Virginia meant that wife and small son got to tag along. We all found the Old Town Sheratom in Alexandria -- and the neighborhood in which it is located -- to be really great. The staff was wonderful. The amenities were top notch. And the rooms were perfect fory small family. Also, I highly recommend the pasta bar directly across the street.
Good location, not far from King Street. Not much of a view from the 5th floor room.
Beautiful guestrooms, super clean, excellent staff the only drawback is the elevator shakes you for 45 seconds before it drops you off
I enjoyed the room the hotel is in great location with several restaurants nearby
Very nice hotel located just miles from DC. The Sheraton had it all. The beds were perfect and the pillows were both firm and soft, depending on your liking. The restaraunt is nice and the french toast was delicious. The staff is exceptional and friendly. We would not hesitate to revisit this fine establishment. Though it only receives 3.5 stars, I give it a 4. The suite was nicely laid out with a king size bed and a pull out couch complete with anything you need for a comfortable stay. In addition, it it conveniently located just 1/2 a block from groceries or restaraunts. I highly recommend!!!
Dog friendly. Very nice room. Only criticism is it was a little dated. Otherwise, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great staff.
We expected more from a Sheraton Suites. The room was spacious, but the furniture was uncomfortable. Sitting on the couch, you could feel where the padding in the cushions and the arms rests had been pushed around from continued usage. The shower was an interesting experience, creating somewhat of a tornado in the bathroom when turned on. The water pressure was so high that taking a shower was painful. The pillow and mattress combination made for an uncomfortable night of sleep, which wasn't helped by the inability of the air conditioning to cool the room.
Overpriced and cramped parking for guests. And the breakfast is way overpriced for its quality and variety.
Great hotel. Historic feel but modern accommodations. Will definitely stay here again.
The hotel rooms were very nice, but the hall ways gave off a weird feeling because they looked old, but i recommend coming here and I sure will come back next time.
The entire hotel did not have television cable and the front desk kept saying it was coming on when they knew it wasn't. The cable company had left for the night. We would have stayed somewhere else. When I called the GM, David Whipple, he couldn't return my call and didn't offer any refund. Terrible customer service!!! Will NEVER stay here again.
Great rooms, comfy bed and great shower pressure. Restaurant was fabulous! Look forward to staying again!
We photographed a family reunion here and were very happy with the easy parking and access to the hotel. The front courtyard was perfect for the big family portrait and everyone was in great spirits. I would definitely come back here professionally and personally.
