This is a great place for the actual rehabilitation floor that they have. State of the art. However, that being said, the care that the nurses give to their patients is severely lacking. Many have attitudes. This may be due to the fact that they appear to be understaffed and unable to meet the needs of their patients properly. Perhaps they are frustrated, but this has to be corrected. A state of the art rehab facility is truly great, but patient care is equally important. I've seen patient's not able to get help to get to a bathroom on time. Truly unacceptable and humiliating. Who would want their parent treated that way, yet the nurses allow this.

I see the owner only responds to the positive reviews posted. It would be nice to see him address the negative reviews as well. He should show a little concern for wanting to address the complaints that he is receiving. Many of them are valid and need to be looked into and fixed. He comes off as dismissive, uncaring and only concerned with the rehabs image when he only responds to positive feedback.

Overall satisfied aside from one incident. My sister and I kept our mother at Sheepshead Home mainly due to location and as recommended by her Doctor. She is quite ill, with many health problems, but we were present as much as possible and the girls were very empathetic and attentive.

I did have a complaint that went nowhere. Mrs. D'Amato made an appearance, which we knew by the sound of her trucker mouth and the vulgar display she put on that grabbed our attention as well as several others. My mother was startled at the screaming, I wanted to shut her door. The staff appeared frozen and afraid. When I complained, I was informed she was the head of the Department. The complaint was useless as a similar occurrence happened again later in the week. It's a decent place, but if you have any serious issues I'd advise on avoiding that woman. Just go in the opposite direction of the screaming.

My mother was there for three weeks. The facility is state of the art. The rooms are modern and the staff was terrific. I've experienced two other rehab facilities in the area and they don't come close to Sheepshead. I wish all facilities were run like this one.

When faced with the decision to place a loved one ...

When faced with the decision to place a loved one in a long term nursing facility it is never easy! When we first contacted Sheepshead Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation we were overwhelmed with what we had previously seen at other facilities. We had two days to make a decision on where to place our loved one. I called and they said come in! We visited with the administrators, they asked about the level of care needed they explained everything to us, they took us on a tour of every area of the facility, We were comfortable, they were sensitive to our needs, they went above and beyond to help us get our loved one placed. Once placed Sheepshead became family!! The administration, the staff care takers, nurses, aides, doctors were all very attentive and caring! They made what was a difficult decision and situation for us easy to deal with. One thing for certain is they all loved my father! They loved my mother and always expressed concern for her because she commuted 2 hours each day on public transportation to see my father. They loved our family!!! We love and appreciate everyone for the care they provided my father and the love they had for him. When we lost my father Sheepshead didn t just lose a patient this was seen by the expressions of love and the support they provided our family during a very difficult time. Thank you Sheepshead Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The worst place I ever encountered. My mother was ...

The worst place I ever encountered. My mother was here for rehab. They continuously missed giving her meds to her including breathing treatments that she needs to be able to breath!!! She is highly allergic to peas yet they served her peas not once not twice but 9 times during her stay despite the fact that in large writing across the top of the food list on her tray it stated no peas. She doesn t see well and had to keep asking others to check her food before eating because they couldn t be trusted. They were doing some sort of renovating near her room which is annoying enough with the constant noise but they also decided it would be ok to do it at 2am as well. The tv never worked her entire stay and they were repeatedly asked to fix it but that never happened. 75% of the workers were rude and spoke down to the patients unless they had family visiting at the time and even then some were still rude. Definitely not kind and empathetic like nurses should be. All and all an awful place. Stay away.... I m going to add to this review by saying that a manager I m not sure of his exact title there approached me after reading my review. He seemed genuinely concerned with my concerns and began contacting the appropriate people to make them aware of my issues. I do believe he will try to rectify this situation by trying to prevent it from happening in the future. I will not remove my review because it was my mothers experience there but hopefully it won t be anyone else s anymore.

My mom had many issues with this nursing home. The nursing care is ridiculous. There are a handful that actually wish to do their job, while the remaining staff are lazy. I had complained to my mothers Social Worker, who really pretty much did nothing. I had to call every day to be on top of my mothers care. Calling never helps either because your on hold for 5-10 minutes, sometimes with a nurse who doesn't know anything and no one calls you back. The nurses excuse would be that they were busy in the dining room, they are always in the dining room. The DR on call never calls back either. When my mother was on the 5th floor once, the nurses stole money from her and the social worker made it seem like my mom misplaced the money. My mom was not delusional at all, she knew her left from her right. The home is dark and dingy, very depressing where as they would make the front entrance fancy. A lot of times the floor would smell of urine. You shouldn't have to be on top of your parents if these people are getting money to care for them. Very sad shame on them. Please do not leave your loved one here

My grandfather went from being completely independent to a handicap after hip surgery. From the moment he entered sheepshead's rehab center he began improving tremendously. by the time he was discharged, he was back on his feet and his own independent self again! Thanks to the devoted, professional and skilled staff. And the state of the art facility made him feel pampered and right at home! Thank you Sheepshead for giving grandpa the greatest gift of all: his independence!

It is difficult to give a proper review when you are not a patient. When your relative are under rehabilitation after injury it is very difficult be correcting. As a visiting person I want to say that facility has very bad a communication policy between relatives of the patient and doctors. The doctor never returned phone calls from us. Social workers are working until 4 pm and mostly visitors came after their job after 6 pm. The common sense the social worker need to work until 7 pm. The managment should provide proper benefits for patients. My relative on diet because of diabetic and I saw a breadcrumb fry fish on the plate and I have lots of questions about of quality of food. Again I try to be less emotional to write that review.......

This place is a torture chamber! DO NOT put a loved one here! Here is a list of what they have done..

.

1- I came to visit my elderly family member on sat oct 14 ...The nurse said my loved one was not diabetic when she was!
I asked the aid which is a large african american woman with long braids to kindly help her in the wheelchair because she should not lay down all day and get bed sores...her response "NO!"...I was in shock..she then gave me a dirty look..I walked out and my little 5 year old stayed in there while I was outside the door..my little girl said she yelled at nana! I then saw the woman giving meds who was phillipino...I said please put her in the chair, she said.".I will not move her from the bed to chair so NO!" I am in disbelief at this point..I go to the new nursing administrator on duty for the weekend who was african american and large and tall....I told her what happened..instead of apologizing she makes excuses and says.."our employees have 10 patients each so its your problem not ours...we are understaffed" .
She has not eaten or made bowels in days...it is not being documented....no doctor has seen her...I had to ask several times for stool softener! If you are not there...they will treat your family member worse than an animal.

3-My loved one had ro use the bathroom..I ran up and down the hallway asking for help..noone to help and they have rotten attitudes...finally an aide named Stevenson tool her...she needs oxygen 24/7..she took off her oxygen..i told her no she needs it..Stevenson said...she dont need it! THE PATIENT IS SAYIN SHE CANNOT BREATHE! Stevensom insisted she still does not need it..are you kidding me.I asked her....how about I pinch your nose closed and tape your mouth and tell you that you do not need oxygen?

3 - My family member was supposed to go to physical therapy on sunday which is why she is there...she said noone took her today..the nurse said she does not want to go because yesterday she was sick so why bother!? Still no doctor came to see her...

2- Next time I visit.....my family member is by herself telling me she is suffering...there are no aids, nurses to be found for two hours!
They were all sitting in the lounge area having dinner and left the patients to fend for themselves...the nursing director and supervisor are in their office clueless to what was going on..my loved one is old and cannot walk...she was vomiting and making in herself ..and I ran down the hall several times begging for help..they ignored me... I saw an aide having a personal conversation..I said help her! She looked at me and walked away! There was noone there...she was also due for her meds an hour ago! Noone there! Her roomate Elsie said please help me! I called the nurse for her 3 times
..she threw tylenol on the counter and said "if your so sick..gobble this" she walked away and did not make sure she even took it! They are supposed to make sure it is taken and document this!
I was promised that a doctor would come Friday night Oct 21...doctor never came ! I found out the woman in her room that had the tylenol died! That night! They killed her!-
I think it cannot get worse!
I get a call that my family member is in pain and they never renewed the meds!
What kind of horror show is this!?
We had to bring her meds and they accepted it!
next day she told me that they had given her a cold egg and it made her sick! (this is now 4 days later and still no doctor..she is in pain so now they have to take her to the er. I called the ems and these incompatents never called the ambulance! I had to have the EMS call the nursing home!..This place is disgrace!

My Mom is a patient at Sheepshead Rehab and Nursing Care. I visit her mostly every day and she is getting excellent care. The place is kept very clean, her room is cleaned every day. She is taken to physical therapy and occupational therapy, when she goes, and they work patiently with her.
We are very pleased with this facility.
The administrative unit has also been very professional, helping me with paperwork, and updating me with my Moms progress. Thanks!

The Worst Experience with a Social Work who is still causing Havoc in my Family because I DIDN'T turn over my Mother as a FULL TIME RESIDENT! Her ATTITUDE SUCKED, Dismissal and very Combative, even to the Medical Case Management Team. Her Actions has caused my Mother to be removed from the SSI ADMINISTRATION'S RECORD with Loss of Income. The Staff on the 3rd Floor, Were Excellent Especially Allyson, Miss Pamela and Annette, who gave Professional and Caring Services and the Only reason, that the stay wasn't a complete Disaster! WOULD have to take all things into consideration to RECOMMEND!

Sheepshead Nursing & Rehab

Sheepshead Nursing & Rehab
To All,
I arrived at Sheepshead Nursing and Rehab on July 1st, 2019. I was unable, after being bedridden for two months, to stand, walk and at times even sit up; atrophy had set in. The aids I had were phenomenal incorporating love and care, nurturing and just being there. Thus, including all the attentiveness that brings a human being back to health.
I cannot thank them enough; they do an insurmountable amount of work and at times are asked to do even more. The nurses are there to give care, provide medications, and assist when needed. They are professional, kind, and caring. They work in concert with the aides to provide the best care possible.
The most important component of this facility lies in the staff including physical and occupational therapy. As I said, atrophy had set in, my legs needed to be brought to life again. On my first day in therapy it took three dedicated therapists to help me to stand. That was the beginning of my long, hundred-day, road to recovery.
Every day at 2 PM I join fellow patients struggling to retrieve the use of their arms and legs again. Every day we were greeted with smiles and encouragement. Every day I came closer to my goal of walking again. It was hard work, but no one gave up on us; they all really cared. Every small success was cheered. Thus, making it easier to do more. And more is just what happened. I am leaving on October 8th, 2019 but not how I arrived on a stretcher. I am walking out. Not to mention my range of motion in my arms has improved greatly. Thank you all for your dedication, professionalism, and love. You all made my success possible.

Thank you,
JoAnn Gagliardi

I haves problem with the lack of communication, no one seems to know what s what, I requested my mothers evaluation report over a month ago, nothing as of yet, I spoke to both her therapist and requested some information on how to get more help for my mom, yet nothing, no one is willing to help, or are just too lazy to do their job, but yet when the co-pay is due , tv bill is due that they make sure you get without any problems, they re excuse when I called was oh it s a holiday, it s been a holiday for a month? Everyday? I don t understand why it s so hard to get a piece of document that is most likely one page! This just makes me wonder what s going on behind those doors! I have no complains about the aids, or nurses they do take care of the patients, I need to take it a step further if I don t get this documents I m entitled to. I won t mind if someone would call me and explain to me why I haven received this document! Actually I would love for someone to call and ask me why I only gave to stars , I don t understand!!! The lack of communication in this place!

My grandmother Mira stayed in this facility for two months. My family and I would like to personally thank Asha, the social worker who treated us like family and put in 100% effort into everything she did. Marianna, her day nurse who gave my grandmother undivided attention and care, even when it wasn't asked of her. We would also like to acknowledge Lewis, Belizaire, Alison, and Welna who showed exceptional service and care to my grandmother, whom of which she spoke very highly of. Lastly, Yelena and Eugene from the PT department who were very patient and knowledgeable as well. My grandmother is leaving this rehab speaking very highly of all the staff that surrounded her.

My mother was a resident for two weeks and I am still left reeling from the poor care and overall service from staff. I saw my mother 1 day after being admitted and she had a black eye that no one could explain. My mother also fell unconscious and because staff didn't take the proper steps to learn of her medical history, she was transported to the hospital and is still fighting for her life. I've also requested my mother's medical records and have been hearing the run around since May. This borders on criminal.

After my ankle surgery I was transfered to Sheepshead nursing & rehab, my thoughts of this place are that the staff is caring and attentive, If your lucky enough to go here make sure you tell them that you want to be on the 3rd floor. Georgia reed is one of the best nurses there, she is a very caring person and is in my opinion the best nurse there, honestly though i did not have any problems with any of the staff, they were all very pleasant and eager to make your stay as comfortable as possible. My rehab at the center was fantastic, Domenica ( my therapist ) is the absolute best at what she does and I owe her many thanks for getting me back on my feet. I cant say enough about the fantastic staff here at sheepshead nursing, they really go the extra mile for you.

Marc from administration was very helpful making sure things went well. Virna the dietitian made sure her diet was appropriate and she ate well. She also enjoyed the activities.

Thank you, to everyone here at Sheepshead Nursing ...

Thank you, to everyone here at Sheepshead Nursing & Rehab for the excellent care you gave my brother John P - Rm 102B from March through April 2016. The appearance of the Center and the comforting atmosphere that the staff members provide help to make one feel they are not in a typical institution facility. It's appreciated that it's family run.
Nurses and Attendents go out of their way to get to know the residents and are attuned to their needs, and have such compassionate understanding of those who need that extra amount of attention, while also showing each resident respect & protecting their dignity. At lunch time in the dayroom the staff are so patient with the residents & make the environment a cheery one.
The therapists in the gym are terrific and very encouraging. And what to say about that gym! - it is so beautiful and as soon as you get off the elevator your morale shoots right up. Friends could not believe photos I showed them of the Smart Car, simulated apartment (bigger than a lot of my friends' apts!), "golf course", and motor boat pier. That whole gym is stunning! Friends joked they want to put their names in for reservation for when they get older should they need such a place, due to how nice it is.
It is not often after you spend time in a facility that you feel you will miss the place, but the day before his discharge we both said, "Ya know, I'm gonna miss it here."
The Administrative, Nursing, and Therapy staff can be very proud of what you've created here.
Thank you ALL again,
Barbara - sister of John P

Awful Experience! Seeing my uncle here seemed fine at first because the room was clean and modern but my experience with staff - another story. He uses the bathroom a lot and complained of having to always wait so when I tried to find someone to help him they were all busy. I got the attention of a lady at the desk reading a newspaper and I tried to ask her for help and she told me not me I m the director . I said if you are director then why can t you help me? She yelled at me and finally a nice young man came to help. I felt very uncomfortable to leave my uncle there after this and I said I want her boss but she told me that she was as high as it gets . Unbelievable. He was leaving soon so I dont want to make any problems. In my community people talk, you would think they would treat patients and there families with respect at the very least in hopes to bring in more people. Nothing but disgust for that treatment from that woman.

I was very happy after my knee replacement when I went to Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation. I wasn't sure what it would be like to be there. I thought maybe I would go home from the hospital, but I am glad I went! The rehab was phenomenal. By the time I went home I was almost as good as new. It's a great atmosphere at Sheepshead - very upbeat and positive. I recommended it to my brother. He's going in now for knee replacement. I want to thank everyone - especially Rita and Cinette and Keith in the rehab department.

There are not enough words to convey the appreciation and gratitude my family and I have for the care and support provided from the entire healthcare team. All Dept. included.

Our mother initially arrived short-term for rehab after awaking from a catatonic state, weak, immobile and being terminally ill. Claire and Rebecca did a wonderful job with her in PT and OT, she was happy and almost completely mobile in such a short period of time. It was my mother s choice to stay long-term due to the kindness and attentiveness of the staff. She felt safe and referred to it as her home (She was not easily pleased or impressed so this speaks volumes.) Unfortunately, she did decline and pass away a few weeks ago as a result of her illness, but the staff worked unbelievably hard to ensure all her needs were met and she was comfortable. I cannot name everyone, simply because it was a collaborative effort, however I would like to mention the 5th floor staff, Mgr. Nanah, Social Worker Asha and her nurses Mrs. Lewis, Mrs. Joseph, Marianna and Gem, her regular CNA. You became her family. We truly appreciate you. Dr. Jonas for his constant efforts and support, and Dr. Ornstein for always being available.

Many Healthcare Facilities can provide basic care, what is required, but the staff here made a heartbreaking experience less stressful, more bearable with their genuine compassion and empathy. We will always be grateful.

My dad is currently a resident in the Rehab portion of Sheepshead Bay nursing and rehabilitation.

On the plus side, most of the aides and nurses are nice and the food is decent.

On the minus side, some of the aides are not as nice or patient.

The nursing home is currently undergoing renovation and it definitely is benefiting by the facelift. One thing that still needs to be addressed is the door in the dining room leading to the outside patio - it is difficult to maneuver and should be an automatic door.

Net net if I had to go to a rehab place myself I would not hesitate to go to Sheepshead Bay.

My 92 year old mother-in-law who has been fiercly independent and living alone, broke her leg. Post surgically, she was brought here for rehab.
The care she received here was superb! The friendly, loving staff always had her looking her best. Better than ever! She was groomed, dressed, fed, entertained and made friends! Nonna, the social worker made sure her transition to assisted living was on time and hassle-free!
She was almost in tears to leave saying how this was the best place and wanted to stay. Insurance made us have to change over, but make no mistake, SNRC is a wonderful, caring , competant place. Her rehab was great, and always had her improving!

Our father, Iosif Stotland, became a patient at this center at the age of 102 after a surgery for fracturing the largest bone in the human body (femur leg bone from the hip to the knee).

After having been released from the hospital, he was not able to walk and even stand on his feet because of acute pain. After about two months (from March 15 to May 12, 2016) of rehabilitation at the center, he was able to walk with different types of walkers for more than 100 feet with practically normal speed and without rest.

The center is excellent, and the specialists are excellent as well.

From his first movements to his final recovery, our father was in safe and caring hands of physical therapist Svitlana Gotsabina an amazing professional and an incredible person. It is difficult to convey the emotions of our father on the last day of their successful cooperation.

We would also like to thank the occupational therapist, assigned to work with our father, Nataliya Drobotya. She did a great job preparing him for his everyday tasks.

There isn t enough room here to tell about all the staff that helped our father, but we would like to praise one more person, who knows everything and can help with everything Malvina Zukina. She is the social worker to whom our father was assigned. From the very first day and through the last hours of the last day, she helped us with various issues that were very difficult for us to resolve. When we had a feeling that we were at a dead end, she was able to help in a matter of minutes, proving again and again how quick, efficient, and highly professional she is.

During his stay at the center, our father was under constant observation of Dr. Stolyar. We quickly found out that any change in our father s health condition will be analyzed, and an immediate action will be taken to adjust his treatment. When you have such a great doctor, you do not have to worry about your loved ones.

In general, the rehabilitation center is very well run and organized, as well as very well equipped. Nurses and nursing aide staff are very attentive and helpful. The food is excellent, and the variety is suitable for any individual taste.

God forbid you or your loved one should get into any trouble, but if you do, and you are contemplating where to turn to for help, consider this rehabilitation center. We highly recommend it.

i arrive at the rehabilitation center with no welcome or greeting me . just sent to a room and told i must stay inside this room till monday when the dr can examine me. but in the mean time 2 russian , very cold mean women come to inspect me . they make notes of every inch of my body. they finish but remind me i have to stay in the room. this room i am sharing is with an angry old man . he is yelling at me . and he is cursing my mother out. i ask him to stop and he goes off at me. well as time goes by he stops . then they bring me dinner at 400 pm (way to early for me .) i eat it o go to ask this nurse where is im insulin shot. she explains that they sent out to hicksville long island . i ask why . she replies we are a rehab center and dont have a pharmacy . ok then. i look at the bed it is hard and very low . i ask about it . they (the assistant admi mark) explains that it was a recent purchase . i ask if they buy the beds from a vietnamese jail. and do they have a different one . it was way to low and not comfortable. if you go into raymor or mattress firm you could / would not buy this. every time i ask a question this old man stats yelling again , but the staf does not care . they just walk out. well now i go eat dinner . my dinner is a small salad and a very salty soup along with chicken in duck sauce. but with no medication my sugar goes very high . my mouth goes dry . i try to get help and i am chased back to my room, like a dog. not asked what is wrong , or how may we help you like the add says .so here is what made me want out . i am on the bed . i call for help this nurse . big 6 foot girl comes in and grunts W H A T . i ask can you please help me stand up i had heart bypass surgery i need help. she replies YOU DON'T EXPECT ME TO HELP YOU . and marches out.. leaving me there .but i need to go to the bathroom , which is a toilet in a small closet that is shared by 4 men. again not acceptable.. As i am leaving they call the car service , but do not explain the complications of leaving a rehab center

My mother just completed 2 weeks of rehabilitation...

My mother just completed 2 weeks of rehabilitation at the Sheepshead Nursing & Rehabilitation facility on Knapp Street. It was an incredibly positive experience for her. Her physical therapists - Jose for p/t and Deborah for o/t - were both gentle and supportive and my mother gained confidence each time she went upstairs to the lovely and sunlit rehabilitation center.
Her social worker, Malvina Zukina, was always available for consultation and to help us whenever we needed her. Her warm and professional manner was mirrored by everyone who crossed my mother's path here. Justin not only wheeled her to and from her therapy sessions, he chatted with her and made her smile. And Leven provided not just music therapy but learned Irish songs especially for Rose.
I would recommend this facility most highly to anyone in need of care.

We visited my sister-in-law at Sheepshead Nursing ...

We visited my sister-in-law at Sheepshead Nursing yesterday and were impressed with the quality of care she is being given. She was transferred from Maimonides after an admission resulting from a fall. The staff had supplied clothing so that she was not embarrassed to be wearing hospital scrubs (I think that was what she was wearing when admitted). Dialysis is a relatively new aspect of her care. She had been able to control her kidney disease for many years by adhering to a rigid diet, but unfortunately 2 weeks ago she needed to start dialysis treatments. At Sheepshead, she is able to get these treatments at bedside and also to get physical therapy. Sheepshead Nursing is a clean, bright space that is professionally staffed. It is a blessing that she is able to be treated there.

So far so good. My father is there now. The place looks very nice, clean, and professional looking. The staff I ve interacted with have been very nice and welcoming. The social worker that I met with, Asha, was outstanding, thorough, and warm. I got to the facility late yesterday but she still took the time to meet with me and explain everything that I needed to know and be aware of. I feel confident that my father is in good hands and in a fine place.

REHAB-21st century facility

REHAB-21st century facility
PRO-This new facility on the top floor is very impressive with a panoramic view, excellent equipment, a car to practice entering and exiting and a staff of therapists that are excellent. Dirk, my wife's Physical Therapist, had her walking with a cane when three months prior her left leg was totally paralyzed as a result of a stroke. He did this with patience and a great deal of humor. Natalya took a useless left arm and hand and returned it to partial usefulness with "light at the end of the tunnel." She's very grateful for what she perceived as special attention and Natalya's obvious interest in her care.
CON-None
NURSING-Mid 20th century facility
PRO-Clean and comfortable. The Staff were, with few exceptions, friendly, helpful and caring. Michelle in admitting, Chris the Nursing Director, Tessa the 1st floor Supervising Nurse, Nurse Maria Edna and Malvina and Barbara in Social Services personified the Staff. The Aides were extraordinary. Julie and Jeanne treated her like family; sometimes being like her siblings and sometimes her parents. Their care and caring made a time that was anticipated to be uncomfortable, pleasant and memorable. Discharge turned out to be a "teary" time for her.
CON-The recommended Home Health Service company was unable to provide a caretaker for two weeks because our community has no public transportation.
OVERALL-Excellent facility. It's too good to be only four stars. It should be only four and a half stars considering the caretaker problem.

My mom was a resident at this nursing facility for...

My mom was a resident at this nursing facility for nine years! During the early part of her stay I met many wonderful staff members who were kind & courteous which made me realize, at the time, that I had chosen the right facility for my mom. Unfortunately, during recent years the professionalism "went out the window" and in its place were nasty attitudes, especially from the nursing staff.

In addition, the physician assigned to my mom's floor was very difficult to reach by phone. The poor excuse given as to why I couldn't reach the physician was because the facility is a "nursing home and not a hospital so the doctors are not always available. They might not have been available but they also didn't return phone calls!

With regard to the nursing staff, on two occasions I had to report two RNs to their supervisor because of the unprofessional way they spoke to me and my sister. If one's choice is to work in a nursing home, they should automatically know there will be days that are going to be challenging. Having an attitude is completely unacceptable!!

My mom's dementia progressed to the point where this facility was no longer capable of providing the care she needed. So instead of calling a family meeting to discuss the matter they shipped my 85 year old mother off to a psychiatric ward at a hospital where she was forced to stay an entire month pending an evaluation which was determined she didn't need in the first place! When my mom was finally cleared to return to the home they reluctantly took her back.

Thank goodness I was already planning to move her to a more suitable nursing home where she currently is today, with a dementia unit that has made all the difference for her and she is doing so well!!! My mom spends her days singing, laughing, smiling & giving "hi fives" to her friends. Best move I ever made on my mom's behalf...the care she is now receiving is just amazing!!

My family and I were totally appalled, to say the least, with the way Sheepshead Nursing & Rehabilitation Center managed our mother's care leading up to her transfer after being a resident for nearly a decade. I was in complete shock with the way my mom arrived at the new nursing home. She was wheeled into the lobby with two plastic bags which contained her belongings tied to both ends of the wheelchair like she was a mule. One of the bags could not hold the weight so her personal belongings were sprawled out all over the lobby floor. The following day, when I began organizing her new room, putting away her clothing, I realized she barely had any clothing at all... Sheepshead Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center kept my mom's clothing. When I emailed the social worker involved in my mom's transfer regarding the missing clothing it was ignored. Again, after nearly a decade of being a resident at this nursing facility...this is how Sheepshead Bay Nursing and Rehabilitation Center said goodbye to my mother! AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE AND BLATANT DISRESPECT....SHAME ON THEM!!!

I would have preferred to give this nursing facility a respectable review as the care my mom received in the early part of her stay was quite good as I mentioned. However, being that my mom was literally tossed out because she became too difficult to manage...a one star review is being generous!!

I was so pleased to hear from my friend who is at Sheepshead Nursing and Rehabilitation Center that her care has been excellent!

I asked about the staff and was told by my friend that they are both caring and top notch. When I inquired about the physical therapy services she receives, my friend stated that her daily sessions are rigorous and effective. When I inquired about meals my friend replied that every effort is made to meet her nutrition needs as well as her taste preferences.
Activities are offered each day to engage clients including bowling, Bingo, movies, crafts and musical offerings.

I am so pleased to know my friend is at SNRC! I look forward to visiting her again and to her return home soon.

At first i gave this place four star's. Most of the aides work very hard and place is clean. After a couple of months of my mother in-law staying at this place, i realized all residents just sit in wheelchairs with their heads back and their mouths open. Everyone looks sedated. Only time their not in a wheelchair is when they go to rehabilitation, which if I'm not mistaken, is half hour in morning and half hour in afternoon. Prior to my mother-in-law going to this place, she was able to heat up food on stove that was prepared by myself and/ or her son. She needed a cane or walker, but at least she was able to get around on her own. I would give zero stars if it wasn't for aides and her social worker.

I was a patient at Sheepshead Nursing and rehabilitation twice. I can't say enough praise for this facility. The nurses bent over backwards to satisfy my needs. They were at my beck and call whenever I needed them. I never thought I would walk again. The therapists were very encouraging and got me walking again so I was able to walk out on my own two feet. The food was delicious and they were happy to bring me a second choice if I asked for it. The environment is beautiful and clean If you need to go to a rehabilitation or nursing center this is the place.

My mom is 92 years old and is here for rehabilitation. God bless her she was never sick a day in her life until her recent diagnosis.
This facility is wonderful. I can t say enough about how wonderful the staff, nurses, and the aids are. The director Tatyana Mishiyeva is very helpful and extend themselves with your concerns..
Mary in health care / billing was super helpful in getting her on a plan to help with expenses.. thank you for all your help,,
I highly recommend this facility if you are worried about where to leave your aging parent..they will be in good hands.
Thank you again to all the wonderful staff!

This place is horrible - understaffed, poor training, disorganized (lost clothes), and dirty. You have to be extremely nice just to get the staff to do anything. The place would have killed my mom if I did not get her out. From the feel of it all, this place is about getting insurance money only - superficial services, basic staffing, and absolutely no culture about improving a patient's life...

The worst place ever. Had a relative admitted to the skilled nursing area and needed an attorney to get him out. They are only interested in the insurance money. The facility smells, is overcrowded and totally non attentive to the patient and family members. The social workers were a joke. Everyone there has their own agenda which does not include the patient. The so called dining room had food products on the floor and the room was dirty. If you have an elderly relative find another place for care.

They will do everything possible to try to stop your medicaid application from going through Just not to deal with it They all go in cahoots together to try to get you fed up so you don't go through with the process Just beware if you need help with the Medicaid process from them Other wise the general care is very good

The overall facility was great until we encountered issues that are now irreversible with the nurse in charge Nichole. During our frequent visits we found her with her oxygen tank empty. Every time it was during the nurse Nicole s watch. My grandmother would be so disoriented and distressed from sitting without oxygen for so long that she was transferred to the hospital twice because of her. She does not check on the oxygen tank and refused to refill the tanks after we tell her it was empty, telling us there s still some time left . We asked her to follow up and check on my grandmother after her nebulizer treatments, we were always brushed off. My grandmother was found unresponsive for hours during Nicholes watch and when We asked, she told us she was just in a deep sleep . We informed the social worker Kim to help and thankfully she called the right people to intervene and confirmed she was in distress and transfer to hospital. My grandmother ended up dying shortly after due to this nurses neglect. Had she done her job and actually trusted the us when we told her all those times she didn t have oxygen or when she we physically couldn t wake her up, she would have received the medical attention need she needed within ample time which would have not reversed her overall health situation, but given us more time with her that now we will never get back.

WORST. PLACE. EVER!!!!

WORST. PLACE. EVER!!!!

Could not wait to get my aunt out of there. my aunt was staying here on the main floor for rehab services. We could not find any staff member to even take her to the bathroom. There was a heavy set nurse who said her name was Tanya and said she was in charge. I could barely even hold her attention when i was telling her what was wrong with my aunt and what she needed. she was staring into her phone and finally put it down, looked up at me and rolled her eyes. She said we don't have enough staff you'll have to wait. Meanwhile there were other nurses standing and chit chatting and doing nothing within eye shot.

Every time i went to visit this place it was always the same hassle. and on top of that there was always arguing in the halls and foul language and cursing being used. I wish I did my research first before bringing her to this place...They just leave your family members in the room and ignore them and do not take care them the way they should be. DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE!

My mom was admitted late Saturday night and the guards at the front entrance were wonderful and helpful. That was the end of any
semblance of humanity. The nurses and aids are all rude and nasty, to patients and caretakers alike. This seems to be the general culture here. Transferred her out on Monday.
