RentPrep is my one stop shop for credit and background info on prospective tenants. They're quick and easy. I've been using them for 7 years for my rentals. So far so good!

RentPrep has been a great addition to my screening process. I feel secure in knowing that I am learning about possible evictions and criminal acts prior to renting my property to individuals.

Rent Prep may be the best way to go about screening your potential tenants. They do the background check and make all the calls so you dang have to; and they will try multiple times of a call goes unanswered.

The information provided was just what I wanted but the problem I found was that after 3 attempts at contacting his current landlord no other attempt to contact him was attempted until I called and spoke to them. The representative said that was their policy. The problem is if the prospective tenant gives false contact information them how will you get feedback from a current landlord which I believe is vital when screening

RentPrep is the only company I've used for screening potential tenants and I've been super happy with their services. I'm always impressed with how quickly the reports are returned. RentPrep has helped me successfully find great renters and I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a screening company.

RentPrep has helped. me weed out bad tenant applicants. I called them to customize questions to previous landlords and employers and they did so. In addition they made their own judgments about the veracity of the information the tenant provided. They are a very fast and cost effective way to screen tenants. Highly recommend.

I really like the simplicity of RentPrep, however, the one part I was disappointed in was paying for the extra credit score portion and only finding out if the applicant met my criteria. I was hoping/expecting an actual credit score or at least a narrow range that they fell into.

I recommend, they have reports done within a few hours and are very affordable.

After looking through different screening services I came upon Rent Prep. Unlike other screening services that just rely on credit scores and national databases I found that Rent Prep went the extra step. They found a judgement and lien that another service didn't on a potential tenant. Thanks Rent Prep!

I've used Rentprep for a couple of years now. I wish there was a way to get a full credit report with the Pro Package. Otherwise, the info they provide has been a valuable screening tool for my business.

This prospective tenant provided a good front and impressive personality, very competent manner, good job, beautiful car, etc., and I thought doing the RentPrep screening was a formality. I could not have been more wrong!

She turned out to have a poor credit rating, had once left an apartment owing thousands of dollars in rent. Multiple credit cards nearly maxed out and at least one, maybe more, with recent nonpayment. Current landlord has taken her to court for unpaid rent. For all I know, though she had no prior eviction records, she could be in process of being evicted right now. I didn't dodge a bullet but a cannon ball! This tenant could have ruined my life. I used Rentprep as a way to screen the tenants who were going to be leasing my house. I had some difficulty initially as I purchased the smartMove product- which was not what I wanted. I called, on a Sunday, and the customer service representative Let me know that he did not service this product (they only advertise it on their website) and had no idea how to use it. When I attempted to get him to help me to remove from my account, he told me he did not know how to. You could tell that I was bothering him like he wanted to get off the phone.
Once I finally purchased the platinum Products for each of my tenants at $45 dollars per person, they were, to be fair, timely in getting the information to me. They did keep me updated as to what information was available and when it was available.
Unfortunately, the only information I found to be valuable wasThe background check,Criminal check,And former addresses.I paid extra to have a landlord check and employment verification. I feel like the information provided was minimal for the amount of money that we paid for this extra service. (many employers will not verify the monthly salary). I ended up having to call the landlord myself in order to get more information. They don't ask very in-depth questions it just seems to be a screening of whether or not the tenant actually lives there. There is some questions about would you rent to this person again. I definitely would not recommend the platinum program. I would hope that their customer service would be more friendly in the future. Also, I feel that the credit report was very limited. You only got a Range of scores which didn't really tell me much because most of the American population who has fairly good credit has this range. It did let me know whether or not there were bankruptcy's which I suppose was helpful.I do think that the information on the website such as the webcasts and some of the articles were helpful. That is why I'm giving this three stars instead of two.

Wow, after years of struggling with a different screening company this experience was a pleasure. Easy upload of documents in order to establish landlord credentials, simple interface, clear instructions and oh-so-quick turnaround. Since we'd somehow lost access to our other screening company's website and they needed a few days to sort it out, I went looking for another solution, found RentPrep and had a report same day. Our unit is rented and we're happy campers. Thanks!

Very easy to use. Reports are very user friendly and informative. It is also one of the cheapest options available. You have to provide extra documentation about yourself on the first report you request but after that it is all very quick and easy.

Quick service. Enter a few basic application details and within a couple hours, you'll have what you need. If you are not using a service like this, you're taking a huge risk letting people into your property.

I am a new client of RentPrep having just used them for my second application screening. I am extremely pleased with the results and fast turn around. Background check didn t find tenant s multiple run-ins with the law. I found them in a court records search I did myself. Seems like a waste of a perfectly good $23 to me.

I have used other background and credit check services, but I really like the verification of tenant information by real people. I feel much more confident in offering a lease to prospective tenants. The informational blogs and videos on your site and your facebook group are very helpful as well. RentPrep is a valuable resource for landlords.

While searching for a company that provided tenant verification services, I ran across Steve White's no non-sense, matter of fact comparison of services that are typically provided by various companies and the reasoning behind each service. He was not pushing his company, just providing the facts. His honesty and integrity came through immediately, and I decided my search was over.

A great time saver. The tenant forms were well drafted and covered all the bases in terms of legal compliance. Very objective feedback which also contained suggestions on a "work around" for verifying employment when an employer wouldn't release any info. I will definitely use the service again.

RentPrep is my go-to rental application service since I became a landlord in 2016. I am impressed with the speed at which they process applications I have submitted, even on Sundays. Plus they have a chat box, and I have always received detailed responses. They go the extra mile and offer many free landlord forms, and have provided me with an education about steps and precautions, which I would not have known about otherwise. As someone who lives out of state from my property and has a full time job, it's great to have a service like rentprep literally do all the work for me. The turnaround was even quicker than expected, definitely quicker than if I had done it myself. Well worth the price.

I use Rentprep all the time. They're fast, accurate and have saved me from several bad tenants. I highly recommend them.

We have used this service several times to screen tenant applicants. Turn around time has been very good. Reports have been complete overall. The only occasional holes have been in unreachable previous landlords. At times this is not a big issue especially if it is not the current landlord. We have also had one employer (restaurant) who was not reached due to limited operating hours. Fortunately we were able to reach them directly after receiving more info from the applicant. Overall I would rate this service 4.5 stars.

I purchased the platinum package. Initial screening was conducted very fast, within 2-3 hours. The second report did not verify employment. I contacted the company and they indicated they tried calling the employer 3 times within the past 24 hours. I later replied "how can you call a state employer that doesn't work on weekends 3 times on a Sunday?" They later changed the story and said they called on Friday. ((
Company randomly refunded me a portion of the package they felt was enough for me to receive.
Very disappointing experience. I later used another company to screen this same tenant as I wasn't sure if the information I received was accurate.

Very easy to use - even for a first time landlord like me!

The customer support is great. The turnaround time was pretty accurate to what was quoted. I liked that the reports were created by people. I read around and it looks like this service is secure. This worked well for me because they don't require you to subscribe and pay for anything monthly or yearly. They allow you to purchase one check at a time and the prices are reasonable for what they offer. Keep up the good work.

The RentPrep process was quick and hands-off. I submitted 3 applicants before bed on Wednesday and had results around 9AM on Thursday! They offer multiple options for pricing/ depth. GREAT value.

Easy to sign up, easy to use. Lots of helpful tips and used their contract template as the basis for our rental agreement. Haven't tried the integrated credit check feature yet, will do that soon.

I recently rented my home after using RentPrep to conduct my background screening and credit reports. I live in another country now, so it would have been very difficult for me to make calls to verify employment and rental history. Additionally, you can order a full credit history with Transunion SmartMove (another product through RentPrep) that gives more than just a pass/fail credit report. I used this to better understand my prospective tenant s financial situation. I would definitely use RentPrep again.

Renting property is a business, like any other. In the past, we relied on prospective tenant references, and sometimes by letting real estate professionals handle the vetting for me. Of course, doing it ourselves was not always the best way to do it, and naturally using brokers entailed paying commissions. Finding RentPrep in a web search was a blessing, because we (at last) had an affordable, reliable way to quickly do a background search on a prospective tenant. Since using RentPrep, we have found six reliable tenants -- and more importantly, passed on others who would be higher risk. When we first started renting property, a experienced and valued friend gave us one of the best possible bits of advice: "it is far easier to find a good tenant, than deal with a bad one." RentPrep helps us do that.

This is the 2nd apartment that I used them for and it's great. I especially love that they call landlords and employers to confirm what the applicant states is true.

Fast return on reports. Anytime they have an update, they share via email, which I like because I can preview some of the info ahead of time. Reports are pretty thorough, in the sense that they leave good comments about what they were told by the people they interviewed. I really like how I can do everything online and over email. Makes doing the screen fast and easy. Their online system is easy to understand, and they immediately respond back to your emails. It's also not hard to call in, if you have problems or additional questions. If I leave a VM, they have always gotten back to me in a timely manner.

I have used both the Pro and the Smart Move. They were both thorough and accurate. I liked getting the prospective tenant's credit score with Smart Move, but I LOVE the other perks of the Pro Package. I did upgrade my Pro for credit screening, but it gives you a pass/fail grade as opposed to an exact credit score. I didn't mind. The Rentprep team contacted the past landlord and employer. I even had quite a few emails sent back and forth between a screener to see if they could acquire more information for me and answer some questions I had about the report. They accommodated my requests, answered my questions, and the completed report was delivered to me in less than 2 business days with portions of the report having been delivered within hours! I will definitely use them again.
