This hotel is nice for its big rooms. However parking is $$30 a night. $35 resort fee and spa room and private pool is $50 a day more. They don t value SPG members as well as they don t upgrade you to suites even when your loyal to SPG. A bit of a stuck up attitude here. Not nice people.

Arriving at The Phoenician I didn t know what to expect. But the resort by far took my expectation to whole new level. From the beautiful hotel, the perfect gym and the amazing pools (yes, pools at least 4 different ones!). The spa was the oasis in desert!

Very disappointed that while this resort is under a massive renovation they are still on Priceline. I had no clue The Phoenician was undergoing this renovation which the entire pool area is torn down, the only place that was open to the public was the steakhouse. No reduced pricing, charged a resort fee. After I bought this up to the front desk all that was told to me was sorry you where not informed.

The Phoenician is a well maintained, beautiful sprawling resort with great staff and tons to offer guests. I was very impressed with their tennis shop and staff. I can't wait to try the trapeze lessons too

Despite spending nearly a grand at the Phoenician Spa, the resort denied us access to the restaurants because we weren't staying in a room at the resort. Does being loyal to the Marriott brand and carrying a Marriott credit card help? Nope. Does Bonvoy gold status help? Nope. The spa page features a drop down menu of resort restaurants that spa customers will be shunned from, despite spending big money at a resort amenity.

Was here for a conference with about 600 people. They catered to our every need. The rooms are phenomenal, the food is excellent, and the staff is super polite. I work in a hotel and I only wish it was as good as this one.

What a shame for such a nice place. The staff are unfriendly if you are not an old white man. My boyfriend and I decided to go to lunch at one of the nice restaurants here because I wanted to check out a new place. When we pulled up to the resort we asked the older gatekeeper man (white male) for the direction to Mowry & Cotton, he told us the path but then immediately started to try to push us towards the Tavern instead, insisting they have much better food . I did not come to a fancy resort so I could go to a place for bar food so we went ahead to the original restaurant. We ate at Mowry & Cotton which was actually quite good. I saw some lawn games outside setup on the grass (cornhole and such) with a few people hanging out playing, so once when we were done eating I asked our waitress what the best route to get to the lawn was from our table and she pointed to the lawn and gave a vague out there response also mentioning that the pool was only for guests. Her comment took me back because I didn t mention anything about the pool. I am half white half Mexican/Spaniard/others and my boyfriend is Mexican. This place definitely makes it known that they cater to only older white people age 60+. I ll definitely be going to other younger diverse spots like Mountain Shadows and Andaz from now on.

I cannot say enough great things about this resort, it is beautiful and an oasis away from home with a staff that just goes above and beyond, The Manager Amanda Estock at Canyon Suites was amazing and we have referred all of our friends and will be planning on coming back next month!

Great property! Saw the trapeze school on the drive in to the resort. Gotta give it a bonus for that. The hotel is quiet, nice, and serene. I was there for 3 days for a company meeting. I wish I had time to check out the pool (great looking water slide) and other amenities more but sadly my days were packed with meetings. Head over to the Cholla trail to hike up Camelback mountain. It's one 20min walk away! Bonus!

Stayed at the Phoenician over the Labor Day weekend. Purchased 2 casitas for my family and my sisters family to celebrate the holiday weekend and our recent birthdays. Around 10 pm at night I noticed the water filling the sink and the bath tub were yellow tinted and dirty. Fortunately the front desk was able to move us to another room that was across a parking lot. Needing to rebath my children and myself we packed up our room, and carried our sleeping children to the new room.
When checking out the front desk manager was rude and since we had booked our rooms with Expedia, a third party, he was unable to make any consessions towards that rooms cost for the evening. I am not the type to complain about the few issues we encountered while staying at the property, but I was very surprised by the lack of courtesy the front desk manager had for our dirty water room, late night packing, moving rooms and my daughter becoming very upset that something was wrong with our room that could not be fixed. I am so disgusted by the fact that my family bathed, washed our face, brushed our teeth with dirty water at this resort. Our primary vacation due to my work, is staycation.... there is not a resort in Scottsdale/Phoenix/Tucson that we have not stayed at 5-3 stars.... skip this resort and go to the Hyatt at Gainey Ranch.... same family fun and entertainment.... clean water...

This was our 3rd stay at the Phoenician. Most of the staff is very helpful and friendly at the hotel. Our room was beautifully updated. They also have some fun activities. The one negative that may keep me from returning is their pool seating policy. It can get very crowded and yet many seats go empty, because to reserve one of their prime deck spots (which are large decks of seats, not only cabanas) it will cost you $50 per seat. When paying a daily resort fee of almost $40/day with the tax, it seems outrageous to have to pay so much if you aren't out to the pool by noon. It creates a negative experience and was further aggravated by staff who wrongly told us some areas were reserved (even after seriously questioning) that were actually open seating. The grounds are really lovely though!

Rooms were clean. Deluxe room with upgraded view was 85% patio view of 2 HVAC rooftop units and 15 % view around the corner of the mountains. HOWEVER right below the mountains was the trash/shipping/receiving area that was far less than appealing. By far the most impactful to this review was the sewage plant like smell coming from the pool area (although not the pool water itself). We mentioned this multiple nights during our stay and were met with confused looks. The smell was enough for our kids to frequently mention it smells like bodily functions so to us that made the pool ammenity unusable. The pastry market is incredible. The eclairs and macaroons are equivalent or better than 5 star dining restaurants and exclusive clubs. We've stayed at 6 different 5 star hotels in the Scottsdale area and this would have to be rated the worst by far.

Two items of clothing were taken from our room. It is disconcerting to believe that your belongings are safe in a supposedly high end hotel like The Phoenician only to discover that they are not. The only protection that you have is to lock your luggage.

Did not stay at the hotel but the afternoon tea is worth the price of admission (free)! A beautiful big lobby that reminds you of a Vegas hotel yet in another dessert. Stunning view of greens.

The service was impeccable the moment we walked up to the host stand. Then the menu was composed of combos options and depending how hungry you are you can do the bare minimum or a full smorgasboard of sandwiches and desserts.

Each server walks by and you can have your fill of sandwiches and when you have had your fill then you can move onto dessert. Similar to the sandwiches there are a plethora of choices.

Even if you aren't staying here the public areas are fun to walk around. The gift shops have fun items and the coffee shop also serves great items. Overall a great place to visit for a short or long time.

Amazing place to stay! The staff is courteous and met everyone of our needs. The rooms were exquisite, and clean. We also ate breakfast at the hotel, and it was everything that we could have asked for and more. The summer rate we got was exceptional and they even upgraded us because it was our anniversary. I would highly recommend going back and in fact I may just stay there whenever I have the option.

My family has been going to the Phoenician for a couple years now for all their special events, and it's not just good for sleeping in. They have golf, hiking, their suites are some of the best I've ever seen and it's the best sleeping and resort experience when you visit or want to truly experience Arizona.

I can't comment on the rooms or service since the recent renovation, but our past experiences with The Phoenician have been outstanding. We were married there and it was an amazing experience. Our most recent visit was for high tea. Not a fan of the new decore and especially not of the lobby bar, but the tea is still lovely.

As a celebration of the birth of baby #6 of our gr...

As a celebration of the birth of baby #6 of our group and reunion of life-long friends on opposite coasts, my best friend reserved a mom's night out stay on Saturday at the Phoenician. After a nice dinner and massages in the morning, the next day took a negative turn and resulted in us having to leave around 10am to pick up the kids and take our friend's dog to the emergency vet.

Upon check-out, we asked if we could return another day, as we were planning to originally stay and enjoy the amenities for most of the afternoon. A sweet voice named Monica greeted us from Concierge services and confirmed that the resort would offer us a day pass on Tuesday and that email confirmation would be sent.

When Tuesday arrived with no email receipt, we called the resort. After being put on hold for nearly 30 minutes, we proceeded to be passed to multiple representatives all denying the day pass. Eventually, a manger named Andrew confirmed Monica made a mistake.

Instead of offering ANY consolation for the resort's error, they proceeded to demand we rebook another night stay. After 30 more minutes of explaining/crying from our new mom-of-3 friend, Andrew did not budge and condescendingly said to come to the hotel if we wanted to figure it out.

All three of our friends made the 45 min drive to find Andrew at the front desk. In addition to the lack of eye contact or any mention of apologies and sympathy for the situation, he instead blankly asked for ID and form of payment.

As the wife of a Titanium Elite Marriott member who travels extensively for work, my friend was heartbroken that not only was her one day of rest taken away from us but that there nothing the resort offered to do to help for someone who has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars at this chain.

We're all disappointed in the Phoenician's management and can't wait to take our money to the Hilton brand from now on.

(Note, the pools staff including Hannah, Heather and Pam were fantastic and should receive five out of five stars!)

Beautiful place, golf course, multiple pools, spa, multiply restaurants, they design to keep you on the resort and not leaving it to go anywhere else!

We enjoyed the pool. Loved the walk around the golf course. Great food & service at the J&G steakhouse & got to watch the beautiful sunset over the mountain.

We also enjoy the Marketplace coffee shop/bistro a lot.

The room itself was simple, nothing special, a little dated for a Category 7 Marriott Bonvoy! We got upgrade to the one facing the Cactus Garden Camelback Mountain Trail. Which was nice but my allergy was bad!

We hated the pillows, too soft and flatted! The shower pressure was really weak, I understand it s the desert so they save water!

I enjoyed the bathtub a lot though!

Long walk from the lobby to our room! You can cut shorter walk by using the stairs!

A few other restaurants here is nothing special, limited menu, no Asian food nor anything interesting or modern!

The service here is great. From the bellmen to the Tavern, from Anthony at the Marketplace to Rasa and Austin & the GM at the J&G Steakhouse.

But little thing here and there not luxurious as you would find at a Four Seasons, Pennisula or St. Regis. Or even some of the other Luxury Collections hotel worldwide! At category 7, we expected a little more nicer touch.

Beautiful hotel, for sure, but their new policy for parking is really cheap. I live in phoenix and have been coming for cocktails and/or dinner to the resort for 25 years, $10 for 2 hours valet, $ 3 for 2 hours for self parking, what do think this is Manhattan??? Just a way to suck every last cent out of your customers. This used to be a classy hotel, but the stupid decisions of management really ruins the experience.
Time to change to other resorts in town that have still kept their class. Really bad!

This place is by no means an upscale hotel. The concept of limiting the space for paying guests at the pool is ridiculous and makes guests feel like 2nd class. Service was absolutely horrible. We had to haul our luggage up through the rain by ourselves. We also reported lots of necessary repairs in the room, which were never addressed. Staff is rude and condescending. We checked out two days early and went to a real first class resort near by. Don't waste your money with this place.

Staff was friendly, rooms were clean and spacious. Here for a week-long business trip. Food quality was decent, and the conference rooms were nice. Close enough to the local shops and amenities that it made for a decent stay.

The worst customer service.

The worst customer service.
I tried to purchase a gift card for a coworker.
Part of it on a company card and part on my personal card. Straight forward numbers nothing complicated.
First time they charged my card an amount way over what the 2 charges combined were supposed to be. And then apologized and put my account in the negative. Went all weekend with no access to my funds. By the way, the electronic transaction has to be done by a manager and even stated the amounts on the 2 forms filled out. They still couldnt figure it out.
Then my business card was charged twice, 2 different amounts. THEN once my refund cleared and I allowed them to try again but made sure we quadruple checked the very straight foward amount for each card... they charged my personal card twice causing yet another issue with my account.
All I got was an I am so sorry about that Ms. Gilbertson.
Honestly I don t want the gift card, if you cant manage to charge my cards right I really am not interested in gifting anyone a massage when it could potentially be yet another disaster.
Waiting on you to give me my money back.
Worst experience ever with a spa. Some management staff you have.

I was really excited about this staycation. However, as soon as we checked in we had learned that the left hand was not talking to the right hand. Initially at registration, and on a call to reserve our room, we had been told that the game room was open from 11-6. On day two when we asked about the game room we were told it was closed.
We scheduled appointments at the spa and the girl on the phone told us that spa closed at 6pm. Scheduled our appointment for 4:00pm and when we were done with our massage, we were excited to go to the rooftop pool only for the staff to tell us it closed at 5. There was no steam room or sauna, and when I asked for a discount because of we had fewer amenities, the girl was rude and said that none of the other clients had a problem with the price. Uhm, I ve been to PLENTY of resort spas with ALL amenities included have never had to pay 200 a person for a massage with NO AMENITIES.
During check out we asked about our $150 credit for restaurant or bar and once again we were told that this didn t apply to us. Super disappointed. Beautiful place but they need to get it together.
