Last week we stayed at Best Western and it was decent but figured I'd try Red Lion this week. The lobby is a really nice looking, huge space and made me think the room would be nice as well. The room ended up being very tiny and cramped, there is one desk chair but no room for any more chairs. Parking is $9 per night. There is one crappy packet of coffee they leave you, besides the decaf. The coffee cups in my room were upside down on the bathroom counter and lids were dripping wet. They ended up over-charging us by about $200 on a debit card and then it was a pain in the ass to have it removed in a timely manner, took 2 days for them to make it right. The drain in the shower does not drain properly so you get to stand in inches of water while you're trying to get clean. Best western has more spacious rooms, free parking, coffee, creme, tea, hot water and everything you could want down in the lobby all night long, whenever you want it. You get a lot more for a better price. Never going to a Red Lion again, very disappointing.

Lobby has been renovated with a fresh new look. Rooms seem to be the same. Could use some updates. Overall it is a pleasant place to stay with a nice location close to the park, river and downtown.

Shared nearly everything on food week menu and now the delicious aftermath... Still savoring chocolate mousse dessert as I slip into a deep food coma...ahhh.. The first courses; oysters, really wonderful greens with gorgonzola & cranberries, or a steak mushroom flat bread oh Lord! Then seafood pasta, steak medallions with perfectly cooked fresh veggies and pork mmmm. The coup de gras... chocolate mousse with layers of creme anglais or bread pudding or cheesecake holy Trinity of yum. Completely going back! Love bartender, one of wait staff was pretty nice and accommodating the other was a pretentious beez who fully ignored us ... asking a legitimate question. I've been in the business... completely unprofessional of her. Overall , you should absolutely go.... Right now!

We arrived at about 4:30pm (well after the designated check-in time) and were told that the room wasn't ready. She said that they would call us when it was ready and that it would be less than 30 minutes. I said that it wasn't a problem and I went out to my car. I had barely gotten to the car (maybe 5 minutes later) and got a call saying that the room was ready so we went back in to get settled into our room for the night. I was leaving shortly to go to an event so I didn't do much looking around. When I got back from the event, I got settled in and started looking around. We had a jetted tub suite and in the jetted tub room there was a lot of mold on the ceiling. The fan vent in there was covered in dust. Our balcony had an empty beer can out on it. And...there was several strands of hair on the bedding and the pillows. I am wondering if the reason it only took 5 minutes to clean the room is because they didn't really clean the room at all. When we checked out, we mentioned our concerns to the concierge desk and we were offered a free cup of coffee for our inconvenience...when a free cup of coffee is already included with the room rental. I called later to talk to a manager and it went to voicemail. I left a voicemail for the manager. I was very nice and just said that I had a few concerns that I would like to discuss. That was almost three weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything from the manager. Absolutely will not go here again.

Hotel layout is inconvenient, no vending, terrible and uncaring service. Received three 6am wake up calls that we DID NOT ask for with not so much as an apology from staff. Will never stay again. Oh and the menu is laughable at best, terrible!

Broke lamp when I first got into my room but it was fixed right away. Everyone was very nice and helpful. One thing I didn't like was the children running up and down the hallway what seemed like all hours of the night. And the pool was impossible to enjoy with the 20 children that were in it.

So today seeing if the our room was ready at 2:40 and it wasn't and didn't really think much of it since it was 3pm check in time. So came back at 4:30 to see if the room was ready since we didn't get a phone call yet as they told us they would when the room was was ready. So waited in line for about a hour just to see if the room was ready and only two employees at guest check in. Then was told we were fifth in line for a room and that was 5:30 and ask to wait. So then about 15mins later got a phone call that our room was ready and was told to wait in a very long line again instead. So waited in line for about another 20mins and then was given a room and when arrived to the room it was a single bed room with, when reserved a double bed room. Tried to call customer service from the room and no one picked up. So went back down stairs. The line was short this time thank goodness and told them we got the wrong room and asked why was told that they upgraded our room so we could get in sooner, but this wasn't ok'd or discussed with us. Then asked why this seems to be such a unorganized check in for multiple people since multiple other patrons complained of room issues. Was told if multiple late check outside happen it puts everyone behind. I DONT BEILEVE THIS IS THE SOLE ISSUE. Also we pay for a certain check-in time. One patron turned around the screen and started typing and looking in the computer when the front desk employee walked away. This is then a concern for personal information that someone can look at such as address phone number and credit card information was at risk. There computers should be secured at all times. Then another patron was very upset saying they have had multiple issues also when asked her she said to many to talk about. Heard that the manager was at her daughters prom and that in one of our trips that a house keeper just walked out. We were given a double room on the second attempt of obtaining a room and was told we have a good view we went from a river view with a patio and a king to a double with a view of a medical building. You tell me if it's a better view! We were only offered a discount at the restraunt for all our troubles by the time we got in our room at 6. This is a busy weekend with Bloomsday and very mismanaged in my opinion of whomever is running this place. There was also little league players waiting and prom attendee's getting ready in the lobby since rooms weren't ready and prom was happening at the hotel tonight also. The highlight was how nice the housekeeper and a maintenance man were to help a little lost girl find her mom. The housekeepers were working so hard to get rooms cleaned at 6pm and can tell they were stressed out, but very nice and friendly. Please

Nice hotel. Only problem, website advertises king suite rooms. We called to reserve the room, and was even told by the person on the phone that we were getting a "king suite", as did the email confirming the room. After we went to the room, we realized that it was a queen, not a king. After calling down to the front desk, we were informed that they didn't have any king suites, that they were all queens, and the new owner had not updated the web site. We then asked for some compensation since we didn't get what we asked for, and basically we were told that was the way it is.

More than anything, the Red Lion at the Park is all about location. It's right by downtown, the Spokane Arena, and - yes - the park!

The hotel itself is nice. I attended a conference here and had a good overall experience. The check in was not done well. It took about an hour to get through the line, which is way longer than it should take - even with a large group coming in. Aside from that, my experience was great. The room was well apointed. Ours had a couple of queen beds and a flat screen TV. Nothing amazing, but it met all of our expectations. The food from the catering service was very good, and the prices at the hotel bar were good. Prices are reasonable and I'd recommend check this place out for your next stay in downtown Spokane!

Absolutely wonderful hotel! Large, updated facilities, comfortable rooms, clean accomodations, friendly staff, restaurant and bar on site, directly across the river from the park and downtown. The staff was so helpful in answering questions about things to do, places to go, where to eat, etc.!

Really enjoyed our stay but 2 big negatives (for us).

Pros:
-Rooms were great (beds were cozy, big TV)
-Area is beautiful and next to a footbridge to downtown
-Good price (for the room)

Cons:
-The A/C unit didn't work properly. We were hot all night. Set it to the coldest setting and it kept shutting off. Didn't get cool at all.
-They surprise charge you for parking in their own lot (no valet). Came out to an extra $15 that they slid under our door the next morning. It was never mentioned that we had to pay for parking. One would expect to pay for valet or special parking but we parked ourselves in their own lot. Strange.

The poor a/c and surprise charge at the end sort of soured us but this place is really nice and if we can get a good a/c unit next time, we'll definitely be back (prepared for the sneaky parking charge).

Very dirty!! Cobwebs EVERYWHERE... beer cans and trash in the bushes outside, along with MORE cobwebs... extra $12 fee for parking your vehicle in their lot, even if you're a paying guest. I'm assuming this helps them appear to be priced lower on all of the hotel find apps. Conveniently located next to Riverfront Park, but I will never stay there again! Take my extra $12 along with everyone elses and hire some house and keepers!

It took over an hour to check in because they could not find our reservation that we had a confirmation # for. The girl at the front desk was rude and unapologetic. They charged us 3x for the room! Once on the credit card used for incidentals and twice on the card used to pay. They are making us dispute the charges with the bank instead of fixing it on their end. The wall in the room was filthy. Looked like it had not been painted in years. If i could give this hotel a negative star i would.

This is a pretty typical mid-level hotel, but the location (right downtown and on the river) and the great outdoor pool make it a good hotel choice, especially if you're traveling with kids.

It was a nice hotel but it was inaccurately represented both on the website and by the staff over the phone. I was not impressed by the rooms or the restaurant. Breakfast ran out both mornings we stayed. Staff is reasonable accommodating but do not really help with issues.

Went for lunch with a group of 7. Service was painfully slow, it took forever to receive our drinks and almost an hour for food to come out. And they did not bring all the food together so we didn't really get to eat together. Very little attentiveness to check on drink refills and we were never asked if we wanted anything else. Turned out tip was automatically included, the receipt said it was for groups 8 and larger but the waitress crossed this out and wrote 6+. So she basically tipped herself for providing no service. Food was good but not worth the lack of service. The group resoundingly voted no on returning.

No coffee maker in room. Only served coffee till 2pm. Forgot my toothbrush and hairspray. Didnt have them complimentary or available to purchase. Reserved a king got two very soft queen beds. Couldnt switch us to a king. Checkin took over an hour. Offered us no discounts or reduced rates for the cruddy deal they gave us. Requested a room with a view. Got 2nd floor view of the pool and patio. Staff was very pleasant.

Beautiful hotel with great staff. Although very large and hard to navigate around. I had trouble finding the conference room (which are usually on the first floor but not in this case) so instead of having to go back down and ask for directions again in hopes to get it right the second time, I was escorted personally by their friendly front desk.

There are 5 in my family and i called in and made my reservations one week ahead of time, The person who helped me was so patient and helpful with me over the phone ..a BIG PLUS there!! =) over the phone they told me that check in time was going to be 3pm but if we were to happen to come into town a bit earlier to stop by and check to see if our room was ready, we arrived at 12noon and i walked in and asked to see if it was possible to check in, if we not then that was ok too, but!.. The young man at the front dest handed me my key and my membership card with a complemetary drink voucher and directed me to my room, we then ( My family) headed to our room where it had two queen beds with a Flat screen tv a bathroom AC, Closet, ...Blow dryer, and free wifi, the room was one floor up and next to the pool, you can open the window and see the pool from our room i thought that was another plus! =) my kiddos then put there suits on and off we went to the indoor pool, that was great and the kids and husband had a good time but what they really wanted to do is go down the awesome slide in the outdoor pool, so off we go, they swam for hours and after we got out we showed, walked downtown never had to move our car, we also got free parking with our stay im sure it came with the package, we walked to the park down to the mall purchased two shirts at Macys for the husband for Fathers day and got a discount there at the store as well for staying at the hotel, you just show them your key and they scan another PLUS! =) after having a wonder time downtown and eating at redrobin we walked back to the hotel, Me and my husband worked out for one hour in there gym then showered and headed back to the pools, the next day was check out we left at 11:20ish with a big smile and ready to plan our next trip!! Thank you Red LIon had a great time!

We were not impressed by some of the changes with their recent remodel. It felt like they are clearly trying too hard and it felt very sterile and unwelcoming.

Also we had a pool side room, they swapped the flooring out for wood which was extremely slippery. Our kids fell multiple times coming in from the pool.

We had a guest visit us who made a comment that they hope they take out the ugly wallpaper when they do the updates and we had to point out that the weird tree wallpaper mural was a part of the update. Perhaps once they complete it all (headboards, curtains, furniture, tile, etc.. ) the mural won't look so out of place and cold feeling.

We stay there several times a summer but may look for somewhere else for next year. It's one thing to update and keep it new and current but it's quite another to alienate your key demographic. Hopefully some of the things they are trying are just an experiment and will change before we return this fall.

Our stay at the red lion was horrible!

Our stay at the red lion was horrible!
-they charge extra for parking and you can barley find a spot to park unless it s across the street in the overload
-they don t ask how many vehicles you have so we were charged for 2 cause we had 2 rooms, but only 1 vehicle.... poor customer service
-they double charged my credit card for the room, and when I asked someone to phone me back they didn t..... poor front staff
-Someone puked outside our room (which I know they cant control) but they barley cleaned it up.... poor housekeeping
I m not satisfied at all and will NEVER return!

They renovated recently, which is nice. The lounge area is awesome. The rooms got upgraded TV's, hardwood floors. We were in room 282. The bathroom was very small and did not have a fan. Which is uncommon. The beds were good. The Pool though, the have done nothing about it. The inside pool that is. It's muggy in there, like there's no air flow. It looks very lame in comparison with the rest of the hotel. Overall a good experience.

A modern hotel the first thing I noticed was the carpet didn't make me dizzy!! There's an on-site restaurant I haven't tried yet. The staff are mostly nice young people who all look professional and are certainly more eclectic than most of WA state. There's a pool and the grounds are kept nicely. But..
Housekeeping is done more like a timeshare. The cups aren't reusable and they dont replenish every day. We got a towel each day and the sheets were not changed once in 5 days. The last couple of days they didnt vacuum either. A friend told us ur supposed to tip them to get ur stuff. Uh..no. WRONG!! A gratuity is in response to service u r grateful for..that's the definition. Trying to make it so u will tip is not the way to go. Needless to say, I was the very opposite of grateful for their service, no I was not impressed. That's why u leave 2 pennies on the pillow. That says I didn't stiff u..u were just BAD. Just in case anyone else experiences this.

The resturant here is great, the buffet needs some help in the pancake department and smaller toast that fits in the toaster. The hotel really needs to work on cleanliness. The rooms are dirty and the hotel is dirty. Keep the hallways, and elevators clean and dont let the garbage cans over flow with garbage... The outdoor pool is fun because it has a water slide. Not sure why there is only one set of stairs to walk into the pool. Nice that the pool is heated. Didnt like having to pay for parking and for the buffet so make sure it is included.

When I arrived, I had to walk around to figure out where to check-in. Asked lady where check-in was and she just pulled out an ipad. I prefer a counter. No coffee pots in the rooms. No room service. No informational brochures in the rooms to give numbers of places to call and order food. No carpet. I may be old fashioned, but if I'm paying for a hotel I have to at least have a coffee pot and room service. It is at a good location and staff was friendly, but I'll be trying somewhere new next time I visit Spokane.

The new owners are investing in the facility. The rooms are clean and quiet. Beds mattress is a little on the soft side for me and seem to be sloped (high spot in middle and lower on edges) so I tended to move to the side of the bed during the night. Restaurant was good.

There is currently construction going on, but they are working on hours that people should be awake. As for the meals during the event had been good. But could have more of a selection for Breakfast.

Would be interesting to stay at the hotel after construction has completed.

The first time I came I had a wonderful experience. Beautiful room, delicious Grab and Go food, wonderful staff, two months later I came again and they put me in a room on the first floor, and it was like being in a motel 8, spiders in the bathroom, uncomfortable old beds, and a crack in the wall .on top of that I ordered creme brulee and it was so bad. Just thrown in a container and burnt.Nothing against the wonderful staff, they were all very nice and helpful, just a really gross room on the first floor .if they tell you your on the first floor ask to be moved upstairs.

On the day of checkout, they slipped a final bill under the door for $12 a day for parking and $2.95 a day for "service fee no deposit" whatever that means. When we checked in, we were issued keys and nobody ever disclosed anything about either of these two extra fees. Will now have to dispute these charges. Room also wasn't cleaned very well when we first checked in, there was actually pee in the toilet that wasnt flushed when we got there, and on our 2nd day there, room service graciously left us with only 1 clean towel for our party of two.

Would do negative stars if I could. Most horrible customer service I have ever experienced in a hotel. We had problems with our reservations which we tried to resolve upon check-in on a Friday evening (with a rude attendant). It was after hours for their accounting department so we were told to call them on Monday during regular business hours. My husband and I left four messages within the next week with their accounts receivable department and received absolutely no response. In addition to their terrible customer service, rooms are mediocre at best.

I've been staying at this hotel for over 10yrs. The hotel staff has always been lovely, the restaurant/bar has great food and the location- right on the river and steps to Riverfront Park and downtown- can't be beat. Unfortunately, the hotel itself had gotten a little dated and shabby. HOWEVER, it's been remodeled and it's beautiful! The rooms have hardwood floors now and the decor is much more modern. They really did a fantastic job. I travel for a living (domestic and international) and this is honestly one of my favorite spots.
