The only place to buy a camera in Austin, well it should be! The best customer service and options. These people know their cameras and can answer any question. They run deals all the time and have a school you can attend classes to get to know your camera better!

dropped off my first 35mm film to be developed and precision camera did the most incredible job with color grading. pics came in on time through a drop box link and i found the whole experience so lovely. the employees who helped me out at the counter were really kind and explained the different options available.

Always a cool experience when I go here. They are pretty cool! I goofed and totally smudged my sensor but they helped me out and got me back to snapping great pics!

Precision was an amazing help. I was traveling through and needed some help getting my camera gear sorted. Shelley (I really hope I got her name right) was very helpful and hooked me up with Tamra for some lessons on my Cannon R6.

Tamra was a fantastic teacher and very helpful getting me on the right path. I hit up the store four times in the week I was here and had a great experience everytime.

They had some hard to find items and just about everything I could imagine

Came in to evaluate a couple of different cameras for our son who is looking to get more serious about photography. Tamra was great. Walked us through our first choice, told us the good and the limitations. Offered up suggestions as to how it might fit with what our son wants to do. Gave us other very knowledgable suggestions of things to look for/at (without even a hint of upselll, just pure knowledge basedsuggestions that she felt where prudent given our situation). We ended up coming back after thinking and talking through the conversation on bought the better camera. Can't say enough good things about Tamra - and then my wife reminded me that she was the one that we bought our upgrade lens from about 9 years prior (which we have also been very pleased with).

Precision Camera received my camera, sent in for repair, 3 weeks ago, and no one has been getting back to me.

As a newbie photographer/filmmaker, I have to say that these people are fantastic! I went to the North Location on Anderson Ln, and went to pick up some iPhone accessories. While there, I also asked about potential cameras, and the salesman, Richard Thomas, gave a quick but thorough recommendation on one for me after describing my intentions. I wasn't ready to make that purchase at the time, so I went home, did my research on it, realized he was spot on, and a month later, called to place an order for it.

Richard was on leave, but one of the managers, Tamra Green helped me instead. WOW, she is fantastic! I went to pick up the camera and needed a few additional accessories. Based on the camera we chose, and the height of both my husband and I, she recommended a different tripod than the one I was looking at. I never even CONSIDERED my height as a potential issue!

Tamra was incredibly thoughtful, and considerate of offering accessories suitable for a newbie. Stuff that will not break the bank, good enough to get started, but not so much that it will be a complete waste if this new "hobby" does not turn out the way I hope!

Had I purchased just the camera online, and not gone into the store in person, I think I would ultimately be much less satisfied. I can't recommend this store highly enough. Thank you!!!

One of the best camera and video stores in Texas. They have a great selection of tripods and lights. Lots of different light modifiers. I want there for a bag, but their bag selection looked good, as well.

Today I visited Precision Camera to see if they could repair my binos and determine whether my camera was broken. First the bad news, they aren t actually an authorized Nikon binocular repair facility.

But they fixed the binos on the spot for free anyway and showed me how to set up the wifi on the camera (not at all intuitive) as well.

Then I asked about a camera a follower traveler had and the salesman did a great job of explaining why that one might look appealing on the surface and why mine is better.

On the last Saturday before Christmas!

I bought my camera and binoculars from them and both times the staff were incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Love this store.

This is a great place to go for any photography needs. I have been going here for a few years and they've always been more than helpful. Its not the cheapest or quickest place to go for film development. However, to my knowledge, Holland Photo Imaging is your only alternative outside of a standard 1-hr photo place.

Great store - for every level of interest I feel. Always had good experience here. Don't see any reason why you wouldn't either.

As someone who just started out in photography, this is the one place I can absolutely say is extremely helpful and insanely knowledgeable about everything photography! Worked with Mark and he was helpful through and through to get me exactly what I was looking for!

I absolutely love Precision Camera and Video. I go here all the time for my photo and video needs. Whether it's a camera body, lens or even a gimbal the always have it ready and available with excellent prices and equipment quality. They are opening a south location in Austin that I'm sure will benefit those in that area. Don't sleep on these guys. Definitely the best in Texas in my opinion.

I had a great experience with Precision Camera. Sarah Hoffman who is in online sales worked tirelessly, quickly, and efficiently in helping me receive my order. The order was shipped same day even though I had some atypical shipping circumstances. They're a very responsive and resourceful company and will likely purchase from them again.

Update: I originally gave a 3/5 rating based on some wait times and lens availability, but I had to change it to 5/5 after some exceptional service from the rental staff. I made a big mistake and made reservations on the wrong dates, but Precision worked with me. They let me rent a demo lens and a used lens that was for sale. They went above and beyond to take care of me, and it reminded me that they could have easily chosen not to. That's above and beyond service, and why I'll always keep coming back to Precision.

Original Review: This is a great local store and I've been renting from them consistently for a couple of years now. They have a knowledgeable staff and great facilities. I wish they had an online reservation tool for rental equipment, though, as a trip to their store or a call-in usually takes a lot more time than you budgeted. There have also been several times where the equipment I had rented was unavailable when I went to pick up the order due to others not returning it on time. This isn't Precision's fault, of course, but it's worth keeping in mind if you have an event where the rental equipment will make or break your success.

Knowledgeable and helpful sales staff. I didn't leave with a camera. But I did leave with a recommendation for a point-and-shoot that was at a lower price point and, unfortunately, out of stock compared to the model I came in asking about. While I could get it elsewhere for the same price, I'll be sure to head back and get it from the staff member that helped. Thanks Ron!

Precision Camera is my go to for anything gear, film or print related. I am a professional film photographer and I have been shopping her for over 3 years now. The customer service is fantastic! I will even sometimes bring in my gear if I have a question and their staff immediately helps me out. I have also even paid for a one on one class with an instructor on low lighting and he was EXCELLENT! My people are Robert in sales and Noah in print lab and they are brilliant at their craft and always helping me out with any questions I have. This place has it all you guys and the price is right!

I spent $750 there just to be made to feel like I was an intruder because I don t wear a mask... I suppose they can start paying people to stand around because I m returning the equipment and getting every dollar of mine back and will never spend it there again... imagine starting a business and then good paying customers return expensive equipment all because your staff can t keep their mouths closed... I m sure the owner loves it when that happens.

Shrewd sales tactics, this would of been my first contact with this place, and I was actually excited that there was a place close that seemed to have what it is I may need along with classes. I have no experience in production and need equipment for my profession. All in all, one has 3 seconds over the phone to make an impact on me, if not I m gone. And I was disappointed my questions could not be addressed over the phone! I was instructed to come on in and we will go from there. While I understand the amount of inventory they have, I found it challenging to believe that a professional in this line of work could not provide any indication of what may best fit me needs with the areas that I would need to Video in. Becoming more and more uncomfortable that my questions could not be answered, I asked the inevitable, I asked the sales person, was he or did he have experience in this field? The response I received would of been grounds for me to revise how I train my employees. I know, your waiting to hear the response , here it is, use your own discretion on how you decide to make your purchase, this is what was said, Laughter, if I was a professional, I wouldn t be working here, this is a camera store! There you have it!

Very wide range of supplies and equipment. The best camera store in Austin. If they don't have it they can get it. If they can't get it, you don't need it. Trust these guys.

I went in with a simple request around a custom photo and the staff were knowledgeable and responsive. Although I'm not a camera shopper, I was blown away about the size and variety of merchandise available. Seems like a true specialty store that cares about what it does.

Just called in with a question and I couldn't have annoyed the person answering the phone in the department more. She let me feel that my question was inappropriate and didn't even try to help. Not good.

The service is incredibly good. These people actually know their job, they are rather professional. I wanted to get something very hard and complicated to achieve, and I m so amazed by how much effort they offered in order to help me. I m really satisfied. I worked with Rosy and she helped me and my family obtain exactly what we were looking for; she was fantastic. The place is full of all sort of equipment, and they have endless options to choose from in equipment and prints. Amazing.

Precision Camera has a great reputation here in Austin, so naturally I wanted to take my business to them and see for myself. Unfortunately I have had awkward and rude experiences the 3 times I have been there within a 2 week span- each time hoping for something better. My review has 2 stars because the staff in the new camera section is very helpful, relaxed, and knowledgable. However, the staff in the photo lab and the technicians there have been very rude and awkward. The final straw was today when the technician only looked at me with an extremely confused and demeaning look when I asked for my photos to be reframed. When he finally understood what I was asking, he was putting together an order for a reframe on the computer, and did not bother to first tell me how much it would be. He proceeded to take my photos to the back without telling me how long it would take, and came back out and handed me the pictures with a "here" and an awkward moment of silence, then a look up to say, "you're all done". No smile, no thank you for coming in. I also would like to mention my prints were quoted (twice) to take 2 business days and were not done until 4 business days from my order. I will not be returning to Precision Camera.

Large selection, great prices, and knowledgeable staff.

Husband loved it. They had an excellent staff and selection of used camera lenses.

I wasted a lot of time and money not only following the advice of the people here but then on what I believed was unethical business practices, saying that I could return something and then not accepting it for no good reason.

Great app lace for photography gear shopping. Be careful with GAS!!! This is so addictive. Definitely the best shop in town. They also offer great classes

The staff does need some customer service etiquette. I spent less than a grand in this store in the past week. Both times I felt like a bother and not welcome in the store. The first time I wanted to pick up a new lens and was pretty much ignored as a few of the sales staff was just standing behind a counter. I finally was helped by a young lady after she was done helping other customers while her colleges were holding up the sales counter. The second time was a curbside pick up. I said, Thank you when receiving my items only to be met with silence and rolling eyes. I want to support local business, but with competitors like Adorama, B&H, and even Amazon, I don t think I would want to support or spend my money where I don t feel all to welcome. The only reason I give this place two stars was for the Print Lab staff who were actually polite and responsive during my first visit, and to the young lady in sales who finally did help me after standing there ignored for 10 minutes.

The best spot for video and photography, those guys really know there stuff and are more than happy to help you with anything!

I heard a Precision ad on KLBJ. It said that Precision had the drone Mavic and they would match any legitimate online price. I called. Mavic was backordered and they were not interested in any price matching.

Had them fix and thoroughly clean my camera, update firmware, replace media door. They said a week, had it back in 3-4 days. Camera looks brand new

It s too easy to take a solid local camera store for granted, but in an era of closing brick and mortar stores and a collapsing market for photography gear, it s nothing short of a blessing to have one. Which makes you wonder if you re in a dream when you consider that Precision Camera s huge Anderson Lane store not only stocks a significant number of brands of new and used photography and videography gear, runs a full service center, print shop, and rental services, but also manages a range of classes, organizes events (like visits from photography celebrities), provides free access to photo scanners, and so much more. I m absolutely spoiled by the fact that they carry nearly the entire line of products from Peak Design, one of my favorite camera gear companies. As a happy customer, I hope that Precision continues to thrive!

I NEVER right reviews for a business so keep in mind the problem has two be pretty big for me to take this kind of time out.

After years of shooting I decided to get back to shooting negatives for the fun and enjoyment I used to know as a photographer and thus I needed a photo lab. I have been sending my negatives to Precision because most of us know of very few places to get these things done if dealing with E6 or C-41. At first it was a matter of my order taking a bit longer than it used to or not getting a notification when clearly I asked for one, but these problems became consistant and all I got were apologies. Often enough if I managed to get in touch with someone at the photo-lab they would tell me the scans or processing was "JUST ABOUT TO BE DONE THAT DAY BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN SWAMPED WITH ORDERS" then I would receive only half of my order back. Keep in mind you have to pay for all of this when you drop it off so if you have a collection of negatives you could easily forget that you had made specific requests or multiple scans you needed. If you are not clear with them when you ACTUALLY GET SOMEONE ON THE PHONE you may not get all if what you ordered 2 weeks prior. Also know that the days they say it takes for these things to happen seem arbitrary considering it has never been done in that timely manner for me. It really does seem like these things are done at last minute.

The photo-lab really seems like there is no sense of organization and no real head to the department. I understand that processing negatives is a dying art, but don't charge the prices you do if you can not achieve the results people are looking for. What has started as a quaint little thing to reconnect me back to some of my old cameras and why I got into my profession to begin with has turned into one of the biggest stressors outside of my work......THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THAT, PRECISION CAMERA!

I guess now I will take the extra drive time to get my processing and scanning done.

I have always found the folks at Precision Camera of Austin to be extremely knowledgeable and helpful whether it is shopping for new equipment or repairing old. If you need it, they usually have it. Imagine, being able to actually handle a piece of gear before you buy it and realize it is bulkier than the picture on [insert internet vendor name here]. And, they are pet-friendly too!

Very knowledgeable people and they have stuff for cameras that I didn't know exsists.

There are many reviews mentioning poor and snooty service, I experienced the same. Pretentious workers in every department that were unhelpful and condescending. No appreciation for film cameras, only interested in big money digital spenders.

If I could leave ZERO stars, I would. Too long of an explanation to explain the absolute hell we went through with this company. I would never bring your camera equipment here. Rude customer service, horribly ignorant staff and a terrible manager.

Huge, great selection, big and knowledgeable staff.

I am fi ally recognizing my dream of getting involved into photography and purchased my very first Nikon last week. The way this was packaged ensured that absolutely no damage occurred during shipping. I was a bit worried about the equipment because I purchased it online. However, what I received far exceeded my hopes and expectations. The camera looks (to me) to be in excellent condition as are the lenses. The battery was fully charged and I literally can't wait to get out there and start taking pictures. (Maybe offer suggestive selling for video cards, LOL)

I will definitely be perusing their lenses for the canera we just purchased. We're excited to fet out and about with some hikes with the camera in hand and I truly am anxious to share my passion with my kiddo.

First and foremost, I am truly astonished by the quality of service I received. Parker Roan assisted me in locating the best deals for each item I required, and he was not hesitant to provide me with honest responses either. Not only did he locate the best deal for my needs, but he was extremely enthusiastic, comical, and knowledgable throughout the entire process! Find Parker and you will not be disappointed!

It s like a photographers toys r us. Great for renting anything you need. Not so much for reflectors or defusers though

Walking into this store is like a kid walking into a toy factory. You just want to look at everything regardless of what it is. I like the huge selection of cameras. All of the prices seemed to be comparable to ones I was finding online. Precision let me rent the camera I was interested in just to make sure it was THE one. It was awesome and a great experience.

Pricey but good. By far the best selection of photography gear in Austin. If you need an odd size filter or a good strobe or photo backdrop look no further. Just be prepared to pay the price for that convenience. Still, if you need good equipment and you need it now, this is the place.

Great place for professional and amateur photographers to buy, sell, repair, rent, and trade-in their gear. Not so well-suited for the casual videographer, though they do offer higher-end video equipment.

The new location is awesome! Nice and open. Lots of new products to see. And of course the wonderful "new car/building" smell!

Amazing! I was in a bind after losing some equipment in an accident and Precision Camera was the only retailer I could find with the products in stock. Since I had an international shoot coming up the next day their team prioritized my order and ensured I received everything on time. I can't say enough about the staff and professionalism of this company.

My husband found what he was looking for and got great advice.

Went to the counter for assistance to purchase a mic, informed the sales person Sony a6000, and was recommended the RODE mic. I'm a novice / newbie. Get home and realize they are not compatible. Called in, they did provide an option to buy a new sony mic, thus one star. But no return option. Great! (sense the sarcasm?)

Precision Camera is a fantastic store supporting the local and regional photography and videography community way beyond just selling and supporting gear. Their educational programs are excellent and their staff are both knowledgeable AND understanding that we all have budgets to work from.

My son who is 16 years old went in to get some help with a 35 mm film camera that belonged to his Great-Grandfather. He has never used a camera like this and needed batteries and film. He was not sure how to put the film in and when he asked, they were rude to him. His own words, "They made me feel stupid for not knowing how to work the camera". Will not be using you in the future.

All the people that work there are awesome. It's like every time I go in to buy a new lens or filter or flash or whatever, the person helping me is just as invested in making the right choice as I am.

I'm impressed by their selection - not only for camera shops in Austin (is there even another one?), but for any camera shop I've ever been in.

They certainly know how to rock Micro Four Thirds gear (Micro 4/3 ... just trying to help with SEO!), but they could bump up the selection of accessories in that realm a bit. Mostly little things like reversal rings, extension tubes, certain filters... otherwise, they're very well covered.

Seriously though, I should install a car alarm that only allows me to visit every two weeks or I'm going to go broke buying all their cool stuff.

Pro/Amateur/Enthusiast, whatever - visit this store and you won't be disappointed!

Precision camera is a local treasure for me and many others like myself in this online age. Before going to the first time, I would see ads and thought it might be a small shop with a few things in it and a repair/rental department. To my surprise, when I walked into the store, I was absolutely blown away at the size and took noticed that the inventory was just about everything I had been researching on the Internet but it was right there where I could see and touch it and buy immediately instead of calculating possible shipping times versus when I might need it. The only downside for me was that it was a long drive from South Austin to their location up north. This was remedied not long after by the addition of a South location that they just so happens to place one minute from my house. Evil I know. If there is anything I need that is not at this location by my house I just let them know and they bring it over right away. All the stars. Additionally, the staff are great and there are many things about this business that holds true to the old school principles that make local businesses strong but seem to be fading away in modern times. All the stars.

Incredible selection of equipment, services, printing, and classes. I wish I lived closer, in order to take advantage of all that they offer. The staff that I have spoken to have been very knowledgeable and very willing to answer questions.
