The new location is in a bigger space, with an expanded variety of everything you need to fuel your photography hobby: cameras (new and used), lenses, spare batteries, filters, tripods, bags, gadgets and accessories. Then there's a whole section for your after processing needs: stations for do-it-yourself photo printing and make-it-yourself greeting cards, calendars, etc. Or use the in-house photo processing service for excellent quality prints (sure cheaper elsewhere, but you get what you pay for). There's also a nice selection of photo frames or go fancy and find options to make your photos into canvas or metal works of art. You can purchase a photo archive kit (you send out your negatives or older print photos and they come back on a CD). They even have in-house photography classes and a camera repair service. The staff is proficient, knowledgeable and helpful.

My favorite store in Austin. Great service and knowledge in sales. I ve used the repair service a number of times and, if they can, they will fix it in-store, and even on the spot (if they can). I also use the lab for canvas prints (also in-store) because much better quality than I got a few years ago when I sent one off to an internet place. You get what you pay for.

You are the worst "professional" company I ever worked with. This is the second time in a row that you make me drive 20+ miles to pick up an order that was not ready or it was all messed up. There should be a better alternative than a lame people like yours.
20x30s? This confirm that you do not even know what customers are ordering. I order 20x24s and now that you are blaming "the customer" for your mistakes because I did not want to pick up "half of the order" when the lady in charge of my prints did not told me anything, that confirms your professionalism. Keep on doing what you are doing.

they have good products and know their stuff when it comes to what pieces should be recommended to suit your needs, but their actual services are over-priced, almost as if they dont even want to sell those services.

My go to resource for photography help and products. I ve also taken 3 courses, the most recent an online basic course for my newest camera. So glad I m not stuck sifting thru online posts that are really ads and endorsements. Hope you are always here for us in Austin

I love Precision Camera - knowledgeable, helpful salespeople, repair folks and a great inventory of supplies. They provide classes, events, and all kinds of information to keep you up-to-date on my obsession with photography. Just moved to Maryland and still keeping in touch with Precision Camera.

The service that both Colby and Kristin provided with an online purchase was absolutely fantastic. I wanted to update the camera that my wife was currently using from many years ago and they gave me some great options, let me know which would be a similar experience but with more modern technologies (wifi, what!!!) and some key benefits of each one. I did shop the price against others and they were right in the ball park but the service is what put them over the top. The communication was another key point as after I placed my order, they let me know the whole time when to expect the new camera and what day it shipped out. Thanks to all at Precision Camera and Video!!!

They pretty much have everything equipment wise. They have helpful staff. I got a great deal on a used DSLR.

I had an awful experience here. no one greeted me when I walked in. No employees said anything to me or offered help when I was looking around the store. All I needed was a 3 pack of film and it took me about 30 minutes to get in and out when it should ve taken 5. Customer service is the worst; there are so many employees around the store yet no one helps. Definitely will not come back here.

This place is excellent. They know their stuff, smart/patience/knowledgable staff.

Support local business. They are worth it and make it easy. The salespeople are knowledgable, and not pushy at all. The prices are correct - and you can touch and feel the gear before buying. Life is offline, anyway. Every photographer in Austin can be happy to have a store like this in their neighborhood.

I experienced A1 customer service from Noble. He knows his cameras and lenses.

Katie was the best! After looking everywhere for the Ursa Mini 4k EF they were the only ones who had it in stock. Furthermore, there were some difficulties with the initial checkout, so I ended up reordering the product after they reprimanded the issue quickly and accordingly.

Super knowledgeable group of photographers staff this large camera focus store. There is an in house repair center which is great for keeping your gear intact. There is a very large selection of lenses for sale, and a surprisingly God used lens section as well. There are many cajera bag options for sale which is perfect for sizing a bag or brand. They don't just offer cameras here, they offer quality.

Excellant staff! I went in thinking I needed a new dslr. Staff quickly sorted the problem. I will be purchasing my next camera from these guys.

got a roll of film developed here for the first time and was pretty unhappy with how it came out. a lot were really overexposed. got a better job done at Walgreen's for cheaper. but i guess it's good for other photography supplies.

I moved to Austin 10 years ago and think I discovered my photography pot of gold at the end of the rainbow when I found Precision Camera. It is absolutely the best photography store I have had the pleasure to work with. The leprechaun that mans the pot of gold for me is Tamra Green, without a doubt, one of the best customer service reps I have worked with. She knows, me, knows what I shoot and what gear I need. She has gone out of her way to convince me that I needed a new lens or camera just before a major trip and made sure I had it. And she has always been right. Her advice is outstanding. The other standout is Robert Backman who has helped me out frequently as well. He knows my system (Olympus) and shoots professionally with it himself. His advice is impeccable. You can't go wrong with either one of them working with you. I've gotten fair prices for my trade-ins. I won't buy anywhere else.

"Order Declined" Found my way to Precision from a link on the Canon website, looking for a Canon EOS 5DSR, which is being closed out. The item was showing as available on Precision's website. I called to check - spoke to somebody who didn't seem to know too much - he just said "Yeah, if it is on the website we have it." The order went through online, and then was "declined" an hour later. This could be because they had no stock. It could be because my billing address and shipping addresses were different - not uncommon in the time of COVID. The thing is...who knows. I've gone back to B&H; they may be brusque, but I've never had a problem. So much for trying a new indie retailer.

I ve been to Precision a bunch of times in the past couple years but today I had such a great experience with their salesman Robert. He was so helpful in answering my questions about the camera I wanted (Sony a7iii) and he worked very hard with management and his Sony rep to help me take advantage of a sale that they were running.

This is the largest and best Camera store in the central south, period. They are competitive with they other national stores and will most likely match any competitors prices, if you simply ask. The customer services is excellent. Even though I ve only love in Austin for a few years now and not visited them super frequently, I love it when the sales associates call other customers by name and already know their their entire collection. It s like walking into Starbucks when they know your name and preferred drink, except they know your equipment.

They carry stuff I d never expect for them to carry, and not once have I experienced them not have in stock what I was looking for.

At the very least walk in talk to a sales associate and let them give you a personal shopping experience for a great price.

Do not waste your money on their custom photo processing. You will get a machine print where they have adjusted the overall brightness or contrast ( often in the wrong direction) but nothing more. No shading or image enhancement or anything beyond what you can do yourself at any Walgreens or CVS pharmacy a lot faster, cheaper, and quicker. It is frustrating because you explain carefully what effect you are trying to achieve and the clerk indicates they can do it no problem. After receiving the prints back the first time, the results were poor and they agreed to redo them the second time. 5 of those 6 prints were worse than the first set. To compound the problem, the prints were not ready after being notified that they were ready. Net result was we paid $60, had to make 4 trips, 3 conferences and got 1 useful print. Skip the aggravation and go somewhere else

Amazing people, they try to help you make right decision about photography rather then just selling cameras.

If you need to get camera equipment, advise, prints whatever look no further than Precision Camera. These guys know there stuff and they ve got more gear than you can shake a stick at. The new store is spectacular. More square feet than Whole Foods and its all about photography. The staff is quick and knowledgable. If your question about photography has an answer, someone here will know.

I ve ordered prints from them and its easy as pie too. Upload pics to their site, and go by and pick up. Its super fast and very convenient too.

no need to travel to other stores when looking for audio video equipment. this store has everything at a great cost. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable and will help you make what ever decision you are working on.

If you live in Austin, this is the place to go to learn and purchase camera or photography items. I bought my first SLR camera, a Nikon D90, here about seven years ago. Let's just say I've been visiting it quite often to buy a newer D800E camera, lenses and other camera items over the years! Very friendly and knowledgeable staff to help anyone out, whether novice or someone who's been working with cameras for years!

Every time I go here the are always eager to help and explain things. They make you feel you are important to them!

If you visit in person, no worries. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. However, attempting to order your photos through their online ordering system was a big Fail. It accepts your jpegs, gives you a 100% acceptance of your order selections, but then, when you click on upload to cart, you get a page which states that that page no longer exists. I called and was told that it might be the browser I was using, to try a different browser. I was using Chrome, so I switched to Firefox. Exact same thing happened. My only alternative is to put my one photo onto a thumb drive, drive all the way down there (I live outside of Austin), and enter my order at one of their kiosks. I've been ordering online from them for a number of years, though I haven't for about a year and a half. I'm extremely disappointed.

The one and only pro shop for all types of photographers. Great prices very completive with Amazon and NY.Tell them what price you found and see if they can match or get close to it. Great repair department especially Noel. Gentle and great go to guy for questions when your camera gets sick.

Usually a good experience as these people are pretty knowledgeable and helped me pick out some film rolls for my mom's old 1980s Canon Camera; however, the rep who helped me told me to buy the wrong kind of batteries (I needed a 6v it turns out and not the two button batteries he sold me). Kind of a bummer since I live so far away and the right batteries can't be bought at regular electronics stores.

I wouldn't bother with their rentals. The guy in the rental department said they would need a $500 deposit to rent a canon speedlite 600 flash. If I had $500 to put down I would have just bought it seeing as that's about the price of a new one. He says that deposit is to rent anything.

Expensive but if any place will have something locally they will plus have the expertise to help properly.

The staff was very helpful. I wanted a photo of my grandson printed and enlarged to hang on my wall. The quality of the work is worth every cent spent.

I had a disappointing experience with the Repair staff at this location. I came in right at closing to drop off a $300 repair to one of my Canon lenses. I received a lecture from the tech about showing up at the time I did. Just left a bad taste in my mouth and I won't be a customer going forward.

Dropped by the infamous shutter bug that has been in town as long as I can remember. Went in to buy a GC for someone who is very active and would enjoy the shop. However, I was rushed, walked-over in conversation and just "click click, ok how will you pay, uh huh, ok there's your receipt.." The counter up front was helpful, sales person was dry and seemed unhappy to accommodate. Anyway, not sure I'll be back after bring treated like dirt off the street. Thanks?

They have a very knowledgeable staff, just seems to take a minute to get to you.

Now at their new location on Anderson, the premises is huge and offers used product as well as new. Prices are decent, but I come AND buy from here because of the exceptional customer service. They know the product - but they can also answer your questions based on years or decades of experience, and most importantly, they won't just shove their favorite manufacturer (canon/nikon/sony/etc) in your face regardless of what you need.

Buying from and shopping at Precision Camera and Video is like having family in the business. There's no need to purchase online and hope for support when you can get your equipment plus local support and personal customer service right here.
I know that if I purchase my camera equipment or service from Precision, I will as always be taken care of!

Mailed my$1500 camera to this company at end of August, today is December 1st, I have had to contact them every time to get updates on what s going on, First call I was told 2 different things and found out after a month my camera had not been touched 3 more months go by, I finally call back and they try charging me almost $100 to clean the camera, but could not tell me what was wrong with it,??? Just said they had a note waiting for payment to clean.... I was ok with that if it would fix it, and when I ask that question, the lady says O I don t know, it just says you want it cleaned..... I mean seriously????? Over 4 months and still had done nothing... so I just ask for it to be mailed back.... so hopefully I will receive it... we will see.... Really aggravating that I have to start all over again, and when I told the lady just mail it back since you have no idea what s wrong, she was like.,.. Ok what s your address? There customer service and professionalism is awful.... worst company I have dealt with in years..... Don t let them waste your time.......

Excellent local camera shop that can solve all the video and photo problems. They still handle my film well, too.

I was in Austin for the day from San Antonio and was excited to go to this store. Beautiful store and awesome inventory and selection. Very underwhelmed by the lack of staff engagement. Maybe folks were having a bad day, but not at all the experience that I was expecting from a specialty camera store. Interactive? Yes. Engaging? Far from it.

I am a customer who will pay retail, given added value in the service exchange. I hate to say it, but this is exactly why online shopping is eating the lunch of brick and mortar. Truth be told, I've had better experiences at big box stores. While I absolutely loved the store, I will probably spend my money elsewhere.

I have rented many times here mostly lenses and flashes. Recently purchased a flash. The staff is knowledgeable and helps you make an informed decision. If you are going for rentals make sure the equipment you are looking for is available. Sometimes the lenses are not available so make sure beforehand. Overall buying and renting has been a very good experience for me here.

Can't say enough great things! Worked with Austin. He's fantastic. Super knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. 100% great customer service. We had a budget and unique needs. No doubt at all, he found exactly what was best for us in our price range and did a great job of explaining why it was best for us and our budget. Their selection is massive and their prices were comparable to Amazon. Frankly, I would have paid a little more at Precision because the customer service was that good! Come to precision ask for Austin! You won't be disappointed!

This store has a great inventory or cameras, lenses and photography gear. They also has a photo lab in house where you can get negatives made next day for no extra charge. Great store.

Recommended on the Australia Consulate website for getting Australian passport photos and I can fully endorse that. Had to get Australian passport photos for my 2 young children. Was served quickly, they had all the specific Australian passport photo guidelines at hand and took perfect photos on first attempt (a miracle for a 3 year old). We had absolutely no issues at the consulate getting the kids passports renewed. Highly recommend.

By far the best camera in Austin. Great for looking at cameras and other photo equipment. Sometimes I wish the lighting stuff was easier to look at but otherwise they are great. The staff are very knowledgeable too.

Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, both in sales and service. Michael was patient with my endless questions in this important decision. He didn't try to push or oversell. This is the most well-stocked camera store I've seen, but I'm not a pro so take that with a grain of salt. This was my first visit, and I'll use this place for all future needs.
