Me and my husband spent our honeymoon in Punta Cana at this hotel and I have to say that everything was perfect!
Fantastic service, great food and cocktails, wonderful beach and the most important: the staff is outstanding!
We made new friends, that s why we already miss them (la familia dominicana: Mini Baby, The Kid, Jairo, Rudy, Tony and the others were great).
We also loved the location and the rooms.
We had a really great time at SRB with so lovely people!

There were so many reasons why my husband and I disliked this resort but I will keep it simple. DO NOT GO. We got a deal and spent close to 4K CAD from Dec 1-8. Terrible food, absolutely unacceptable soliciting, and a bad language barrier. My husband and I went for our FIRST EVER all inclusive trip for our HONEYMOON and I was also celebrating my BIRTHDAY and we couldn t be any more displeased. We got absolutely 0 upgrades for anything the room was nothing special and the jacuzzi tub took hours to fill. I read previous reviews about the soliciting and simply thought people must just be too picky while on vaca well they couldn t have been more correct. The soliciting was ENDLESS. You couldn t be on the beach without constantly being bothered do not misunderstand me when I literally mean EVERY 10 MINUTES someone would bother you. Then just as you thought you could get away and enjoy a nice lunch or dinner, no. 3 or 4 times during your meal people would come around trying to sell you bottles of overpriced wine. Which on top of the food already being terrible this is simply unacceptable. not to mention when you re trying to order your meals at the restaurants the waiters can t write/speak/ or understand english. very frustrating but you re so hungry you will simply eat whatever they decide to bring you. Then you think let s get to the bar and drink away all these frustrations, well, not quite. Every bar was so inconsistent sometimes a simple gin and tonic was unbearable to drink, the list of drinks never tasted anything like the list of ingredients shown and you definitely get sick of presidente. I was looking forward to drinking out of a coconut and to my surprise they offer this only on Saturdays which we missed out on. I truly hope this review has helped steer you away from this resort, it was such a huge let down for us. No matter if we were given a free trip to go back tomorrow we would not return.

This was a great vacation and anniversary for me and my husband. The hotel was very nice and accommodating. The staff is friendly and the shows were great. If I had to pinpoint one issue, I would say it was the original room given to us. The ac didn't work well and ended up going out on us. We were put in another room right away with working ac. Food was ok, but the variety was good. I would recommend this resort for you vacation.

The staff were amazing we can t name them all but thank u to Christopher , juan manuel, Raquel Torres, the little guy, Manuel and Nairobi the beach waitress , such a beautiful hotel, Pete & Terri from England.

Relaxing, beautiful, & great accommodations and staff

Love the swim up rooms and room amenities. Also love that someone will be around to bring you drinks even if your not by the pool bar. Nightly entertainment is ok. The only thing I didn't like was the immediate sales pitch for their unlimited vacation club as a first time visitor. I would have appreciated it more on a second trip as a second trip proves you want to be loyal.

It is a very nice resort. The staff is amazing. The only thing I did not enjoy were the people on the beach trying to sell you things. Very clean plenty of activities. I will definitely stay at this resort again.

Nice and well maintained resort. We took the all inclusive option and really enjoyed our experience. There was food and drinks in plenty and a lot of options in restaurants to dine inside the resort. A lot of activities in and around as well for a great vacation. Resort overlooks a private beach. Had so much fun with friends here.

This resort was the most fun Secrets I have been to so far! The entertainment crew made this vacation so AMAZING! Thank you Eddie Murphy, Garfield, El Gupy, Milky way, The King, and Spaghetti.their involvement made it a great way to meet more people and brought so many of us together and got everyone involved in all that the resort had to offer. I hope anyone reading this and going there can know that they will feel like they are at a Paradise Home away from home.

Beautiful resort! Great pool, drinks, and staff. Food was pretty ok, but lacking in options. When we stayed, the Now resorts were closed so a lot of the dining options and the pools there were closed. We were frustrated that no one told us this before our stay, and there was no effort to make up for this. In their responses to other reviews that mention this, you can see that they really don't understand why this would be so upsetting. At one point, a customer service rep called our room to check on our stay, which was a nice touch. My husband told her about our disappointment in the closed resorts, and her response was that if we booked through a travel agency, they would have told us. But the hotel's own website doesn't mention it, nor did they mention it when we checked in!

I do feel bad complaining because it was so lovely, but I'm comparing the value to what we would have received at other resorts, or what we would have received if all of the advertised amenities had been available. We didn't feel like our stay was worth what we paid, compared to what we would have had at other resorts. The room itself was beautiful and spacious, and we booked the most basic room. We did not upgrade to the premier level and I don't think it would have been worth it.

People were selling trinkets and excursions on the beach. The excursion people even walked around the pool area to bother people. Made it hard to relax. We were also tricked into listening to the time share talk, which lasted 2 hours. We were told it would only be during our breakfast. If they tell you this, dont believe them. We also were given resort coupons that the resort refused to honor. Finally, the battery on our doors card reader died twice and we were locked out of our room. I would not return, because while it was nice, the lack of communication about the closures made it feel like we were getting less than we thought we were paying for.

Excellent kindness of all staff, Alfredo the sommelier a genius. The beach is permanently being cleaned of sargassum. The wine included in the package is not good

Here all inclusive gets a completely new meaning. Even on the beach or at the pool you will be served. Even culinary wishes are unfulfilled. Definitely think of a collar shirt, long pants and shoes, for the a la carte restaurants there is a dress code. We will come back, it is worth every meter of the 7500km distance home !!! Currently here for my honeymoon with my husband. Overall I would say I m unfortunately not as impressed as others seem to be. From the moment we got here everything seemed so rushed. We announced to the front desk that it was our honeymoon and felt like it was no big deal. We later noticed the following day that others had signs on their doors for their honeymoon, anniversary, etc.. however we had to ask for ours on day 2. Also, we asked about possibly seeing if we could upgrade to preferred as we realized it might make our stay feel more like a honeymoon. However, once again the front desk kind of shrugged it off. Like it was too late or something. We tried to not stress over small things and went to relax on the beach or pool, but towels were practically on every seat. Apparently people reserve them with their towels all day even if they aren t even there.

UPDATE:
After posting our original review the staff definitely tried to make our stay much better. We were moved to another room with a poolside view. Also, our room was decorated with rose petals. It definitely helped change our mood. We ended up buying the private dinner on the beach and absolutely loved it! Definitely worth every penny! Also, we found out with only a couple days to spare that Secrets guests can also go next door to the family resort. We definitely wished we would have known sooner! There is a casino and an adults only club which was pretty cool. Overall, our honeymoon was pretty good. Our only final gripe was simply the overcrowded beach and pool area. You seriously do have to wake up super early and be at the towel hut in order to get a good spot. But other than that we did have a pretty good stay.

We went to Dreams in Cancun last year, and we loved it...so we chose Secret....but what a mistake. The standards are not consistent at all.
A few reasons I don t like this Secret resort...
1. They tried to sell me some future package, that I wasn t interested. So after 90 minutes presentation, I told them I was not interested. They sent this tall guy name Anthony who gave us numbers and had us sign that we don t want it...then he looked at me & said I forgave you for being rude-you we re on your phone when I told you the numbers. ( unbelievably isn t it)
2. I called for laundry to be done...first time no one came I called back they said I didn t sign it...okay...I signed & called 4 more times no one came...I had to bring to the front desk to get them

3.Poolside service was absolutely slow and horrible. Angel on the pool side was nice...other than him...most servers don t react to tips that much. ( maybe further guests don t need to tip. No difference in their behavior)
4. Cancun most servers can communicate at basic level in English ...here not so much.
5. WiFi disconnect when you walk to different part of the resort. Even when you connect to WiFi it is kinda weak. They also cut off the WiFi in our room the night before we were leaving.
6. Room service- ordered red wine, the guy forgot about it...came back with white wine...I would have to say at least he didn t have an attitude ( isn t that sad ? That is our standards here)
7. I don t know if this is just our visit or in general. This resort seems to be for elders not adults. Most people here are retired people. Nothing wrong with this...I just wished I knew

I can t believe this is the same chain as Dreams in Cancun...why would anyone buy membership? So they can be shocked by lower standard of services...

The resort was very pretty. The staff was also OK. Weve been to a few all inclusive and this one fell short of our expectations.

The reason it got one star is because they almost killed us. They painted the room next to ours during the day with some type of paint that had heavy chemicals in it. That chemical smell crept into our room over night and we didnt realize we had breathed those fumes for over 12 hours. One week later I still have a sinus infection and my wifes ears are infected because of the damage to our sinuses from the fumes.

They told us we could stay another day and ended up billing us for the day they promised at no charge.

I loved everything else. The staff was fun but none of that matters if they make you sick from toxic fumes!

But, the fact that they didnt consider that fumes from whatever they did in the room next to us was Completely negligent.

So enjoy at your own risk at this place.

Food was not that great! But the overall experience was amazing! Beautiful place! Wonderful people! Martin Jean our concierge is the best!!!!!! I highly recommend you request him! He took such wonderful care of us!

Friendly staff, plentiful drinks, delicious food, outstanding entertainment.

Great hotel. Enjoy your meal. Great beach. Super nice staff. Huge pool area. 24 room service. Different day and evening activities. Not so good was that the offered trips from the Schauinsland to the hotel were very expensive. And you had different prices from hotel to hotel. We talked to other guests about other hotel complexes and prices varied widely. But Petra from Sea Pro, who offered the same trips on the hotel beach and are significantly cheaper, gave us great advice and everything she said was true. And since she is German there were no communication problems. Petra is my tip for travel events. Be sure to go to her first. Since she is blonde you cannot miss her. Have fun on your vacation there.

Here was the paradise we chose to marry! Impeccable resort, our HoneyMoon was unforgettable! Everything and everyone contributed ... What a wonderful service! What a heavenly place! How many amazing, friendly, energizing people! The cuisine is surreal!
We made friends with all the collaborators, they were certainly more than important, and contributed a lot to make our days perfect. We want to come back soon to make you miss this delicious place and the friends we made!

very nice place if you stay at secret it's a adult only hotel but you can use the other hotel restaurants bars ect

We are on day 3 of 7 right now and we are having our wedding here this coming Monday. This whole place is a money scheme (which a lot of resorts are) but this one is terrible! The food at EVERY restraurant has been mediocre to disgusting. The $200 resort credit they said we would get is a complete scam, because you end up paying quadruple what a simple massage in America costs. I could go on and on about how crappy this entire experience has been so far. But we are going to try and enjoy the time we have left in this hell hole.

This place is fantastic! We stayed there for 10 days and the staff was very friendly, professional and helpful. We really enjoyed being pampered and the restaurants were great. The bartender Elias and the helper Yadanila were the best!! They were always there for us and anybody and polite and cheerful. Because of these two persons, we enjoyed the cocktails more and their cordial personalities made a difference to everyone!! Three cheers for Elias and Yadanila!!!

Now the disappointments:
The bathroom shower floor was so slippery and we asked for the rubber mat. They told us to wait 5 minutes and they never came back to tell us that it was not available. There were no grab bars in the shower and nothing to hold on. Because of that, I would advise anyone who go there to take a non- slip rubber mat and use it on the shower floor. Our room butler told us that the grab bars are in the handicapped room and why would I want to occupy that room when I am not a handicapped person. I would rather let the real handicapped person who is in need for that room.

The second disappointment was the Bluewater Grill restaurant hostess. We were waiting for the table for dinner and she asked us if the high table was acceptable. When we told her "NO" she told us that she would do us a FAVOR to seat us at the regular table. When we were seated at the table, there were two other empty tables next to our table . That attitude of that hostess was totally unacceptable.

We are very disappointed!
-We'll come here for a 2 week vacation and they'll steal ours in the room shoes, a perfume, our chocolate is eaten (which is not bad at all) but hello? Can not you even leave shoes in the room when you go to the beach?
Rooms are not even cleaned properly, everywhere hair, everything stinks of piss.

By the way, the food is also very bad, so we were allowed to have stomach ache every day.

I got severely food poisoned while staying there. Out of our group of 30 attending a conference there, at least 12 got food poisoned. It seems like it is something common. The wi-fi is as good as the food and on top of that, one of my female colleagues got cat called by one of the construction workers remodeling the Now Larimar (same hotel, basically). The rest of the staff is friendly and the rooms are nice, but the flaws are so big that one star seems too much.
Have you seen those reports of people dying unexpectedly in Dominican Republic? I understand why now, there should be a study in how many visitors get food poisoned in these all-inclusive hotels, I bet the numbers are notoriously high.

WORST VACATION EVER! Part 1 (too long to post all)
We usually go to the same place every year & were changing it up this year. We settled on Secrets Royal Beach, Punta Cana. We booked a partial ocean view room because nothing else was available online or through CC. We were told we could use their sister resort next door also but that was not adults only. We like taking walks on the beach so we figured we could walk down to the next resort & check it out.
We arrive at the hotel & the sister resort "Now" seems to be very close! Go left to Now or right to Royal Beach. So we are getting checked in &they show us where our room is & all the amenities on those little maps, only to realize that these are NOT separate resorts!! They are 1 resort & Now is about 75% of it. Then you get approached by the people trying to sell you a timeshare in order to get your spa coupons. We were told you can tell them you are not interested & you just want your coupons & it wouldn't be a problem. But one of the couples we met tried this and was harassed by the guy! She went back 3 times before they finally gave her the coupons.
ROOMS: We go to our room & open the curtains to a full roof top view complete with men working on the ac units! No partial ocean view! We have the guy call the front desk & so the arguing begins! They only have 1 other room available & we would have to pay $900 to upgrade because it is a preferred room. We go back to front desk & the price goes up to $1700 now! After 30 min of arguing, we get them back to $900 but we have to stay in one room for 2 nts & then go to another room. Fine. We go to our room which is very nice, & open the curtains to look directly at the preferred pool & bar. Everyone walks right by our room to go to bar & into hotel. But it's only 2 nts so fine. The 2nd night we get a call saying the room is ready now if we want to move. Ok great! Trip has not been great so far, so happy to get settled. We thought things were turning around & we decided we were going to be positive from now on! Then, we got back from dinner to a flooded hallway outside our room, open the door & the room looked fine until we got into the bedroom & the water was dripping from the ceiling by the sliding door & the deck was totally flooded so it was seeping in from there too. I called for assistance & they said someone will come. My husband proceeded to scoop the water outside the best he could since the drains must have been clogged! Over a half hour passes & still no one has come to help. I call again. Husband keeps scooping, no one shows. Call a third time, my husband also gets on the phone & about 20 min later a guy shows up with 2 towels!!! And speaks NO ENGLISH!!! He leaves & comes back with a bucket & a squeegee. He has no idea what to do! He calls someone to help who shows up in 10 min & doesn't speak English either. Have to call again to get a manager up here that speaks English. It's now close to midnight. Manager shows up & wants to move us somewhere else just to sleep for the night! NO! We just got to this room & it's midnight! So we slept with the water dripping into the bucket until it finally stopped.
The language barrier is so bad! Hardly anyone speaks English so if there is a problem no one knows what you are saying! We experienced this throughout the trip. Even trying to order a drink or food at the restaurants! Sometimes you would get something that was totally not what you asked for. Not the biggest problem, until you really need help! The fuse in our hot tub would blow every time we tried to use it! Not the safest thing! And try conveying that to someone who doesn t speak English! My husband finally found the fuse box outside our room & he would have to pop the fuse every time we wanted to use the hot tub. He also figured out later that the hot tub was leaking, which was causing the fuse to blow. We called once & the guy had no idea what to do and, of course, spoke no English. It just wasn't worth the time or the battle. Which almost seemed to be the theme of the place... DO IT YOURSELF!

The experience and the attentions of Barracuda bar staff is exceptional: Henry, Willy Mays, Santa and Dorling make you feel at home. Very happy with your attentions, I wish to return soon !!!! Very pleased!!!!

We just got back from here when visiting for our Honeymoon. We had a great time. However, we were a little disappointed that our Butler forgot to do our turn down service, we felt like we didn't get anything "special" for our honeymoon. Food was great, the seaweed on the beach was terrible but didn't let it ruin our trip. Entertainment was excellent and the bar staff was great. overall great trip

In short: this was a wonderful resort with equally wonderful staff and I can t wait to return!

The room was very spacious, clean and had a jacuzzi bath on the outdoor patio. The room was in an ideal part of the hotel for us, very close to the pool area, restaurants and reception. (Room 5142)

The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. We had a lot of interaction with Raquel and Lilliana at Reception/Guest Services team; they were lovely to chat with and gave us great info.

The food and drink at the resort was tasty and varied. The drink of the day was always a nice option to try. We tried most of the restaurants as well as the buffet restaurant and enjoyed everything. We spent a lot of time by the pool where Angel bought our drinks over always with a smile and a positive vibe.

I wasn t expecting much entertainment considering this is an adults only hotel but the entertainment team were brilliant in providing activities on the beach, at the pool and evening entertainment every night. The Kid and the dancers were FAB!

We can t wait to book our next trip to this amazing resort!

Amazing!!! BEAUTIFUL resort, amazing custom service, great good, top notch in EVERY category. Many options for dining, bars, social opportunities, amenities were superb and excursions were well planned. I want to come back with my kids. We stayed in the adults only venue but had access to all. They even found out we hadn't celebrated our honeymoon and surprised us with a BUNCH of extras; breakfast in bed champagne, resort money, fruit tray and a special dinner on thr beach for two. Nothing I can say bad. It wasn't over crowded, they were very helpful and gave tips on what to do and what not to waste your time with. Oh and the rooms were very clean and EXACTLY like the pictures.

A good resort to stay at but I've had much better in Mexico. The food was above average, as were the activities and entertainment. The staff were friendly and always ready to answer "excellente!" whenever you asked how they were doing. The restaurants had good ambiance but the service was slow and it was always difficult to get a table for a large group. The drinks were inconsistent and almost never made correctly (too strong, too weak, or just plain wrong), one evening the staff were arguing about who would serve us. Buffet staff were slow to serve coffee and drinks.

I was in August, this year, highly recommended, services, room and facilities, very attentive and friendly staff.

Angel at the swim up bar made this trip as excellent as it could be! Always made the best drinks and made us feel right at home!!!

The front desk staff was excellent and very polite however the pools were freezing cold, beach Cabana staff was not polite and the food was just ok at best. Room service failed three times to bring us more bath towels, water, and toilet paper. This place looks and sounds great but it's just ok. The upper management should adopt a few tips to better the culture from other 4 and 5 diamond resorts. If they were nicer and more polite and respectful of their guests and showed more appreciation it would go a long way. I stayed at two different Vidanta properties in Mexico which both would be excellent examples for them to learn from. I love the ground, I wish out stay was better.
Not to mention, my parents got this place for $1,100 for 7 days INCLUDING airfare from Apple vacations, but when I got down here, the front desk wanted $200 a night just to add me to their couch. I wasn't taking up a new room, I don't drink, and I had to pay for the spa amenities anyway so why they would charge me double what my parents paid just to add me on to their existing room so I could crash on their couch is beyond me. Oh well. I do like this place but I have a really sour taste in my mouth from the beach Cabana attendant Juan who was very rude and condescending to me. He was a gas station attendant that would be one thing but he is supposed to be serving the guests at this so-called for diamond five-star resort. With places that brag about being the four diamond level resort, they should be held accountable to a higher level of expectation I think. They are much nicer properties with more politics in my opinion.

Only spent the night cause of the hurricane. But real great rooms. Thanks for taken us in.

Excellent hotel, very comfortable! I really recommend it

Beautiful hotel with the best service. If you want to complain on a high level would be the soundproof rooms and that the program (restaurant and entertainment) repeated every week. Otherwise there is nothing to complain about. Everything is clean and in top condition. Highly recommended.

A spectacular hotel in everything, facilities, services, entertainment, staff and the beach superrrrrrr, they serve us like KINGS.

Fantastic great hotel. The beach was unfortunately very algae lastig. But everything else was great. The rooms are very nice and clean (we had a swim up room) The food was terrific!

It's just beautiful, our maid Ramona was fabulous, she had our room with rose petals on our bed all the time for my 50th Birthday and our 20th Anniversary and made sure our room was perfect. The service was amazing, people were so nice. The bed and bedding was so so comfortable, it was one of our best trips ever. All the activities we did outside of the resort were amazing to and the rides to the places were not long at all, we had so much fun. I would go back again in a heart beat. Lots of love to everyone at secrets resorts.

Stayed for a week and it was incredible. The staff were amazing and so attentive to your needs. The mini fridge was stocked daily by the maid assigned to your room with cans of Presidente, bottled Coke products, and bottled water. The spa on the property was great and incredibly relaxing. No complaints what-so-ever about the food and we tried every restraunt as well as room service. Only two complaints I have are the current construction going on for the resort next door that can be heard from our room and the sea grass in the ocean and beach (both of these things are out of anyone's control so my 5-star rating will stay). Would definitely travel here again in the future, possibly to Now so we can take our children as Secrets is adults-only.

Resort was clean. Room was large and comfy. Staff were pretty good. Food was okay, not amazing, but not bad. Lots of al a carte restaurants, like 8, so good variety.

The hallways echo like crazy... So sleeping in probably won't happen as the staff starts cleaning rooms early around 9am and they get very loud.

Buffet was decent, the grill and teppanyaki restaurant were my favourites. Oceana was TERRIBLE - AVOID! Seafood in general was not that good, but all the meats were yummy. The barefoot grill was also very good. Capers was good but not great.

The beach was the winner. Gorgeous beach which lots of activities including volleyball, aquatic exercising, etc. Resort very close to beach and it's never super busy.

Close to the NOW resort, which you have access to as well (secrets can go to now, but now cannot go to secrets). Now has lots of families.. So be warned.

Nice pools. Secrets in Cancun was much better. Tons of seaweed on beach which Cancun had as well. Drinks and food was decent. Minimal activities

Beautiful place but wait... noise everywhere! Loud music, too much activities, cleaning the rooms at 8am etc. Room doors are not even designed to be closed silently. The staff is nice even though I will feel much more comfortable if I am not pushed all the time for one more something.
The biggest problem might be the management since they need to decide what kind of resort they want to be: adults only for people who want to relax or adults only for party people. It must be communicated in advance very well! They also must do something with the people on the beach who actively sale excursions, cigars and clothes. Very annoying I would say!

This place is absolutely amazing!!!! The rooms were clean everyday and night. The food was delicious. The staff was very very helpful and accommodating. The bar tenders was always (and I mean always!!!) there when you needed them. The beach was breath taking. I wouldn't hesitate for one second whether or not to go back. Go and check it out. On a side note we ended up being Facebook friends with our butler because of the way he treated us and how much fun we had with our group.

Spent a week here on holiday. What a wonderful time we had. Lots of entertainment on site during the day. They put a show on during the evening, the entire staff was extremely friendly!!

They just opened again when we went. It took a couple of days for the staff to "figure it out" but had a great time. Some restaurants were slow and entertainment wasn't the greatest but considering the times, it was still good. Beach and service on beach was amazing. Those people selling stuff on the beach were relentless though.
