Beautiful. This was my first time and what first took my breath was the architecture, very contemporary. I saw Carmen, and it went beyond my expectations, having studied the opera before. Worth every single moment.

We saw Andrea Botcelli today at the Met ... as much as music and the singing was heavenly... the sound was horrible.... he sounded weak and distant, not the thunderous voice we know from him .
It was like he was singing without a mic ... like he was in another room , and this in the best acoustic hall in the world.

Very old eating and imbibing establishment across Lincoln center. Very interesting cold antipasto offering. Expensive. Great vibrant atmosphere. Busy bar. Very crowded after major Lincoln center productions.

A bucket list event was to go to an Opera. Unfortunately this was after another bucket list event, a Broadway musical. Two very different energies. On one hand the Metropolitan Opera offered a grown up experience. A well dressed crowd fully educated atmosphere. It seemed like we were in a award show love, with all the fancy attire and high priced drinks. The stage and theater looked amazing. As we sat night n the middle of the orchestra section, w could see everything very well. The perfermamce was wonderful. I had an idea in theory what it would be like. Everything being sung in italian was interesting. So also glad for the written translation in front of our seats. But it just seemed a little to upper crust for us. With the crowd saying bravo and the low key claps, were maybe something I will appreciate more when I'm older. Iolanta was a great story, I just don't think I will be back soon. And if I do, it will be at a much lower price. If just a starter, maybe try the upper level seats,at a lower cost.

The pinnacle of operatic art in New York City. Outstanding quality in performances. During the recession, it performed 26 La Bohemes to get through the recession. Understandable. More diverse programming is encouraged.

For travelers on a budget there are seats available for $47 including tax and fees. A wonderful NY cultural experience not to be missed!

A world renowned opera house that is truly a magnificent experience. It is opulent, elegant, and has world-renowned singers perform on its stage. It has about 28 different operas each year that includes classical and revival renditions in their repertoire. The season begins late September with their famous Met Opening Gala and runs through May. Current manager, Peter Gelb, has made several programs to make opera more accessible to many by offering a live in HD series in the summer (where you can enjoy the previous season s performances). Attending the Met for a classical opera is one of those things that you have to add to your must do this list. They offer a subscription series, but also have a Rush ticket program for $20 orchestra seats.

The Metropolitan Opera is an elegant place. Beautiful lighting and the performances shown here are worth the price, with translations of the songs on the seat in languages from English, German,Italian, and Spanish. This is an experience that will stick with anyone no matter the age.

If you have a chance to watch an opera here, do so. The interiors look grand, to include those chandeliers that move up to get out of the way whenever there is a performance. I think this is a must visit place in NYC.

The performance has been interrupted twice for about an hour, the scenery broke down after twenty minutes. It is something unbelievable event for a minor opera theater. They should have stopped the performance reimbursing the tickets.

Performance of Verdi's Aida at the Met was spectacular. The voices were sublime, the costumes museum-like, and stage settings seemed large as life , as if transported from the land of the Nile. There were live, decorated horses on stage in the triumphal scene. The intermissions added a lot of time to the performance and of course, snacks and drinks were expensive. The Metropolitan Opera is musical theater at its pinnacle integrating voice, orchestra, set and costumes. Talent from countries world-wide is showcased. You may leave late mid-week for work the next day. Enjoy.

What a wonderful experience , attending the opera Turandot exceeded all expectations. The acoustics are marvelous, the staff is very friendly and helpful. Concession products are a bit expensive and very limited in the choices. Overall a once in a lifetime experience! I would go back in a heartbeat!

The "Met" is world renowned for its superior performances. It attracts the finest artistic talent in the country, and is on my "Top 5" venues for classical performance. Musicians, singers, costumes, production quality, are all first rate. The Met does tend to "play it safe" when it comes to the season repertoire. Lots of the standard works by Verdi, Puccinni, Mozart etc. I'm not saying it's a bad thing - it's actually a good thing. "Standard works" attract the audience and make opera accessible to more of us. The theater itself is deep burgundy and gold and it's cavernously large -- but it doesn't sacrifice acoustics. You are basically guaranteed a first class experience at The Met. Aside from the music, a really lavish opera is very visual so if you have never been to an opera because it's not your kind of thing, you must go to an opera and experience the orchestra and stage in real life with your eyes and ears. There are two (almost) floor to ceiling Chagall paintings that face out to Lincoln Center. If the sun is shining on the paintings, curtains automatically close to protect these masterpieces. And that's what the Met is - a masterpiece. But that's just me.

Beautiful venue, easily located, unfortunately the tenor I was there to hear had pulled out but there was no problem changing tickets online a few days before, for a fee. I had a wonderful seat for a reasonable price with world class opera performers and musicians.

Only 4 stars because we didn't know that most of the action in Porgy and Bess takes place upper stage left which is almost totally cut off from where we were sitting. But otherwise, a fantastic show as expected.

The Met! Enough said.... If one travels to NYC and doesn't attend ABT or otherwise, shame on you! Saw Jane Eyre standing room and absolutely was on awe of the sheer value of my time in this spectacular venue.

There's nothing like the Metropolitan Opera. The building is from another time. The operas are wonderful. I recommend becoming familiar with the story before you go if you don't speak the language. There are subtitles on the back of the seat in front of you which you can leave on or off. Highly recommended.

The beauty and majesty of this place is breathtaking. Then Misty Copeland comes out and the world melts away. Tips for entry: 1) if you drive, park in R1(R is red) or R2 of the underground parking lot. Those sections are very near the underground entrance to the Opera House and the underground entrance is conveniently located to public restrooms while you wait. Doors typically open 30 minutes before the performance.

Absolutely fantastic experience!!!

What isn t there to love about the Met Opera? The space is opulent, the ushers are in fancy dress, and the music is amazing. I saw Don Giovanni here and had a blast. The orchestration was lively, and the singers were absolute stars. Even though I wasn t familiar with the libretto and don t speak Italian, I still found the opera captivating, thanks to the expressive acting and the stunning singing.
