Performance of Verdi's Aida at the Met was spectacular. The voices were sublime, the costumes museum-like, and stage settings seemed large as life , as if transported from the land of the Nile. There were live, decorated horses on stage in the triumphal scene. The intermissions added a lot of time to the performance and of course, snacks and drinks were expensive. The Metropolitan Opera is musical theater at its pinnacle integrating voice, orchestra, set and costumes. Talent from countries world-wide is showcased. You may leave late mid-week for work the next day. Enjoy.
