Make a reservation at The Grand Tier restaurant well beforehand for a pre-show dinner and enjoy dessert, champagne or other courses during the intermissions. Pre-pay and the food will be waiting for you! Super efficient and delish.

The great experience of listening to opera live brings you joy. As the voices fill the house you can take in the splendors of the place from the gold leaf ceiling to the crystal chandeliers that rise as the lights dim.

Performance of Verdi's Aida at the Met was just breathtaking. The voices were awesome, the costumes were gorgeous. There were live, decorated horses on stage.

It was just wonderful lifetime experience.

But there were many people coming with jeans and sneakers (just awful), of course also very elegant people with black tie dress-code.

And there was a man siting behind me who was snoring all the time and waking only when people were applauding.

Worth seeing if you're in the area. World class shows, cool architecture and art. Check out the Chegall murals during intermission while sipping champagne. Don't be intimidated and think you need to wear a tux. Come as you are and enjoy!

The customer service was not that great. However the venue is beautiful and the show, phenomenal. What was most helpful was the translation panel in front of each seat.. German, French, English, and Italian translations.

The show was live streaming so the best view (in the event that you don't have great seats) may be the big HD screen on the lowest level.

A tradition in New York, the opera is one of those cultural institutions that is intrinsic. The venue is simply breathtaking. My only complaint is that some patrons have taken to showing up in shorts and t-shirts.

Wow. The whole experience from start to finish was awesome. A gorgeous building, wonderful spacious lobby, artistic through and through. Enjoyed my first opera, Carmen. Now I want to buy a season.

The Metropolitan Opera is a class act all the way. I've been to opera houses in other US cities (and others in NYC) and nothing ever comes close to the atmosphere and level of operatic performance at the Met.

Really, I'm not sure that I can say much more about the Met that hasn't already been said. It's a MUST visit for all classical music aficionados.

Just a quick thank you to the ushers who were looking everywhere for my friends diamond ring that had slipped off her finger during a fabulous perfofmance of Romeo & Juliet . Everyone was looking after the lights went up
As we were the last to leave, unable to find the ring until my friend felt it inside her shoe!
But the ushers were great!
Also Stella Abrera was brilliant and exquisite as Juliet. Catch her at ABT if you can!

All the greats have been there singing arias. Leontyne price. Joan Sutherland. Marilyn Horne. Samson and Delilah starred Anita Rashkiavilli, who possesses the most beautiful mezzo-soprano voice I've ever heard in my life.

For best sound, choose a higher seat (i.e. family circle) Orchestra seats don't have a good balance of music vs singing. The rosewood creates a rich sound. Every person should go at least once on their lifetime.

Tips for "regular people" like me. You can get cheap tickets in the "family circle" but be aware that this is really far back. Really. It hard to recognize who is who on stage. The upper boxes are another place where you can find inexpensive tickets. These are very fancy with a door entrance to each box. Be aware though that when they say partial view, they really mean partial view. In some of them you can't see half the stage.

The performances are spectacular. The richness of the sets and talent of the performers is amazing.

I would like to give a big thank you to the Met opera and the staff for an amazing experience!!!
My mom and I got to see Cosi fan tutte, and it was simply amazing, the stage design brilliant.

We almost didn't get to see it because my mom and I, my parents were visiting from Austria, that had us stuck in Buffalo because of a snowstorm/wind gusts, so we missed our performance. The staff was kind enough to find us a good alternative to see the show, they were helpful and supportive and we are grateful for all they did for us so we get to see this amazing production.

Thank you!

Great performances, nice crowd. Drinks and snacks were very unreasonable (okay, charge your markups -- we all understand that you're a venue -- but at least have some level of quality)

Absolutely Incredible! The view from everywhere is fantastic. Sit higher up if you enjoy being able to also watch the musicians! The lengthy intermissions give you time to enjoy yourself and explore.

If you buy a drink before the show or during intermission, be aware that they won't let you take it to your seat, so there's a lot of chugging happening at the bar. Still, going to the opera is one of those things that you should do at least once in NY.
