A world renowned opera house that is truly a magnificent experience. It is opulent, elegant, and has world-renowned singers perform on its stage. It has about 28 different operas each year that includes classical and revival renditions in their repertoire. The season begins late September with their famous Met Opening Gala and runs through May. Current manager, Peter Gelb, has made several programs to make opera more accessible to many by offering a live in HD series in the summer (where you can enjoy the previous season s performances). Attending the Met for a classical opera is one of those things that you have to add to your must do this list. They offer a subscription series, but also have a Rush ticket program for $20 orchestra seats.
