The singing is glorious and the set design imaginative. Expensive, but we'll worth it.
It was an incredible experience, full of magnificent voices, beautiful sets, and stunning elegance.
The most elegant place of all. Seats from the dress circle and below are pretty good. Try not to choose seats on the sides because half of the stage will not be visible. The ballet shows here are pretty good and this opera house is bigger than the actual ballet theatre.
One of my favorite places ever. A center of culture with beautiful architecture and incredible shows
Visit at least once and listen to great opera! It is one of my favorite places to attend a performance!
What can I say except that it s one of the best opera houses in the world?
Great acoustics, massive and (often) sumptuous/creative staging, (most of the time) great cast, and above all, very affordable (standing room/rush/student tickets) and every year it boosts a glorious season of 20-30 operas
A must go for music/art lovers traveling here and I have always felt grateful to live here and visit the Met often.
Great place to consume art and culture. It's also a New York landmark. Sometimes, even by sitting at the fountain contemplating or in any of the adjacent parks, reading you feel so much better and smarter. Lol
Had an amazing experience here, performance was fantastic. Food is great, clean and friendly staff.
A dream come true. The Magic Flute is a funny and adventurous tale. The singing was beautifully done. It was perfect. The Met is an amazing venue, very elegant.
The building itself is astonishing. The operas and ballet performances are so beautiful. I'm not an expert on either, I'm simply impressed everytime I go there.
Met Opera is the best in the world. There is not much I can add to this.
An opera house which has surrendered to the me-tooist dictatorship. Pathetic.
I hope we will able to enjoy a night at the Met. COVID is hampering this classic house of culture. Sad Times.
Production value is extremely high and the performances are moving. Would recommend a visit here over any Broadway show.
The Operas and Opera House were terrific. Restroom facilities however, for both men and women, are grossly inadequate.
One of the premier opera companies in the world plays in a beautiful house worthy of them.
If you get a chance to do a behind the scenes tour. do it. Amazing how much infrastructure and effort happens to put on a play.
The Death of Klinghoffer. It is a sad day when we find it important to justify murder, rather than identify it for what it really is "unjustifiable," Empathy for anyone who places so little value on life is misguided and shame on the Met for this production choice especially in this era. How dare do spit in the face of those who endure life without succombing to hate, bigotry aqnd violence. Worst Performance. The Met no longer represents the Arts for freedom loving people. Disgusting! Boo!
Just seen the most fantastic production of Madame Butterfly. It incorporated Japanese puppet theatre which was such a wonderful addition.
We had seats towards the back of the orchestra which had an excellent view.
What a stunningly beautiful place with full of elegance, passion, and joy.
No matter where you seat, it is the best seat in the house. Acoustic is amazing, every breath and wisper on stage can be heard at top floor back seat. Amazig
I saw a ballet called Giselle. Beautiful and classic space
Great experience. Super professional. Lighting crew were having an enjoyable conversation and had to be reminded about noise etiquette...
Great place to go see an opera! Really can't stress enough how much I love this venue!
Beautiful place, makes you feel classy and important. Not as expensive as you might think, but try to avoid the cheapest seats. They're not incredible.
Bring your kids, but make sure they're well behaved. Be punctual if you don't want to wait outside until intermission. Shows are usually quite long, but the excitement can make the time fly.
Had a great time with the family. Loved il Trovatore! Only 2 issues, to hot & concession very very expensive which gives this 4 stars instead of 5.
Great performance in an amazing venue. What's not to like?
Always a great musical experience. Recently saw Tosca and seeing La Boheme tonight.
International top-of-the-line opera, ballet and other performances. Always magnificent. Increasingly accessible for disabled patrons, due to aging population. Hope younger patronage continues to develop or company cannot survive.
Beautiful inside, something out of a movie. I felt inspired. I've taken in Operas. But, honestly, I'm a theater buff, love it. I've always wanted to attend an Opera. Met new friends, one loves the Opera and, invited me to join. I attended two famous Operas, Madam Butterfly, so so sad and, La Boheme, sad too. There's English sub titles in front of your seat. Once you press this bottom you will be able to follow along no problem. Love seeing people dressed to the nines and others dressed creatively, or casual. Depending on where you're sitting, it dictates what you wear. I had a lovely time. But, something about Broadway musicals, you leave humming a happy tune. The Opera, broke my spirit with the dramatic heartbreaks, I'll pass. The beautiful waterfall at night did put a little joy back in my evening. We took pictures. A simple must.
We purchased expensive tickets and the woman two seats down was on her phone the whole time. Very annoyed. Sadly since the Opera was amazing.
Amazing facility, great seats and comfortable environment. The bars downstairs are a quick alternative to the lines on theain floor!
What is there to talk about when you're describing one of the most important operas in the world? All in all an amazing location.
Fantastic performance, sales calls for months after wards
Wonderful theater. The queue to get in for a show can be a bit chaotic
This edifice speaks for itself! Take a tour of you've never been inside. See a rehearsal, if you can make time OR see a performance, any performance, and watch the chandelier go up and down. Spectacular!
They're getting rid of their awesome Aida production after this season so see it before it goes away. Take your opera newby friends to La Boheme Bigger than anything else going on in NY. It and Carmen are their best to introduce newbies to! also awesome salmon sandwiches. This season has been particularly memorable - Nabucco, Il Barbieri, and L'Italiana have been standouts.
The opera is a fine experience. Personally, I thought the 3 hour show was too long, but the music, acting, and singing were all amazing. The venue is nice, but I wouldn't say it's unique. Don Giovanni was repetitive, and the plot just didn't anything for me.
My first time attending the opera, it was great tho I had no clue what was being said. My suggestion for food or drink is to order ahead of time.
Beautiful space, balcony overlooking Lincoln Center Plaza and Chagall murals on the walls. Opera tickets are very good value, though refreshments at the bar are at the top end of New York prices. If you miss the beginning of the performance, there's a neat little movie theater where you can watch a live stream.
Saw Porgy and Bess!!! It was wonderful!!!!! Great chorus and main characters...especially the woman playing Bess.
Got to see the prima ballerina herself Misty Copeland, the whole performance was awesome
Glorious performance of La Traviata. Sat in Family Circle. Best sound in the Opera House. But it's a good idea to bring Opera glasses if you sit there.
This is the pinnacle of opera, certainly in America, but quite possibly the world. The amazing performances are coupled with a gorgeous venue. I've been in the best box seat and the worst standing "seat" and truly, there's not a bad spot in the house. Subtitles in your choice of language are available on individual screens for each audience member, making this an accessible artform for everyone.
A gorgeous opera house - modern, but tasteful; and the performances are hard to beat; enjoyed a very imaginatively staged Rigoletto there; the staff was very helpful accommodating us, answering questions, and providing helpful directions when asked.
The building is very outdated. Besides being uncomfortable and unattractive I think it presents public safety risk.
I came here for the first time last night. My sister dragged me along to see a play her colleagues in LaGuardia participated in. I must say the atmosphere of the opera house is magnificent and the acoustics of the building linked perfectly with the singing.
Timeless, unchanging beauty. Definitely a gem of the big big apple.
The entire experience will provide a lifetime of memories and you will know you were a part of the best that humans have achieved.
Exquisite! Lovely evening. Be forewarned the seats rival those of a small airline.
Forget about Broadway shows. Head straight to the Metropolitan Opera House if you're in the city. If you're on a tight budget, like me, there are inexpensive seats and nobody cares if you're all dressed up or wearing jeans and a sweater.
Great performances there, always. You can find so much, ir has everything. It has always been one of my favorite places.
They sing opera good like a good opera company should
Signed up for the Backstage Tour...fascinating look at all the people, planning, production, skill, space, etc that goes into repertory opera.
Was here yesterday to see the opera CARMEN. The show was awesome and even though I am not a big opera fan I loved the music from this opera that most people are familiar with. The theatre itself is beautiful and they also sale drinks. The seats are a bit tight but ok. Also in front of your seat they have digital closed caption in different languages that you can turn on and off which came useful to me as it helped me understand what the actors are saying. They have this in different languages which is good for non english speaking visitors. Overall a great experience.
Nothing else like it. We saw misty Copeland perform with abt.
Coming from a small town in rural Virginia I have never seen anything as impressive as this building. The hall was absolutely beautiful and the opera was superb. If you are an admirer of the arts make sure to look into seeing a performance here, it is life changing.
Beautiful venue, wonderful performance, high-quality people watching experience. We saw the Carmen and were beyond happy with our experience. Had box seats and were very happy with the environment as well as service.
The venue is absolutely gorgeous and the performance we went to with the American Ballet Theatre was phenomenal
The best opera comes here, it's true-- and the experience of going to the opera at the Met just can't be beat. A special evening, always.
Great performances, although I do miss the city opera. My only problem is the fact that I have to go into the city and fight with traffic and the increasing accumulation of filth of the last few years. Otherwise the Met is a nice island of decency.
Terrible customer service provided over the phone.
Unfortunately people who work at Metropolitan Opera and pick up the phone are rude and unprofessional. I will try never again call Met's customer service.
They should not represent one of the best opera houses in the world.
I wish I could give 0 stars.
Saw a good opera. Seats comfortably. Bathroom clean.
The magic flute was spectacular...sung in english so easy to follow story line...talent galore!...thoroughly enjoyed Mozart
